Flash the 8.1 boot image then do the OTA.
Mine is installing now.

Is it necessary to uninstalling magisk first?

I just sideloaded the current stock ROM, rebooted, then the update installed fine. Flashing just the boot image didn't seem to work as a fix by itself.

is a full wipe necessary? im rooted with ad free youtube.. thats all

Anybody share the OTA package for me, please? I cannot download it via the local network in China.

Anybody notice this new option under development settings?

is there a manual way to sideload this update? my phone doesn't get OTA updates.

Yes, I know. But after you sideloaded it your phone will prompt you the new April update OTA and all the next available update in the future. I've done it before so I know for sure.

So you're saying if I sideload the March update (I'm already on it) that I'll immediately get a notification for the April update? Color me suspicious...

You are already on March update and your phone didn't prompt you the new April update? That's strange. Did you try to remove the sim card and let your phone connect to WiFi only then tap on system update?

Why would I do that? Especially when that's not part of the process that you gave earlier? I think the updates are rolling out based off of carrier or some other such criteria. Not simply if you're on x-release you automatically get an update for y-release...

Latest update.

I've received this update... Now I'm rooted already. I don't know what to do... Should I update it or leave it as it is since I'm using xposed as well.
Will I have to root the phone again?
I've got twrp already installed.
Any instructions?
You can't even take the update if you're root it will just fail to install
wow, this is a pretty big update.
I am on build QB3, anyone else have this? Ive not seen much on it
I don't understand what it's for. I tried to download it but it says I'm out of space even though I have space to install

I didn't download it from anywhere, when I got the phone, it was on lollipop, checked updates and there was one, after the update I came on 6.0.1
After a few weeks, I rooted it. Now I've this update
And yes I rooted the phone myself, after using odin to flash twrp

Ok since you rooted yourself it's going to show the update. Roms like https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...g900p-pk1-stock-deodexed-marshmallow-t3521415 the developer disable the update notice for that. Think there's a rule you can flash through twrp to disable that too but idk where it is. A it's somewhere I this forum but it's been a while since I could remember where

But how can I take the update? What's it about? Is there any new feature that we're probably missing?
No you can't take the update unless you unroot. All the new updates for this phone are all security updates and that's it. There's no new features of your on 6.0.1. Anything past pca roms were just security updates. Sprint has been releasing new updates every month for this device but it's all security updates.

[OTA] [XT1572 IN] August 2017 Security Patch NPH25.201.3

Just got this OTA. Totally unexpected!
I was Rooted with TWRP Installed. So couldn't get to install it But I have captured the OTA.

I'll try to Install this later this evening.
I still hope they will release VoLTE update unexpectedly!
Nice. I might stay for a while with stock until LineageOS with N blobs comes out.
installing via adb fastboot.. will notify once done
edit: done
Wow! I'm slightly impressed... A new security update on the X Style.
Now if they would just roll-out Nougat to Pure. :/

download the ota files on ur pc and then store it some directory that u want
then turn off your phone and put it into bootloader mode and select recovery mode..
now here comes important step.. u need to be in stock recovery and it will be totally blank.. with a triangle Android
now keep pressing vol up and power button simultaneously..(luckily ull enter the recovery mode or it gets rebooted if done many times)
if u successful entered the recovery mode ull find 5 options or 6
1) reboot
2)applt update from sd card
3)...
.
.
.
select the option which says something sideload ( i don't remember it) and connect yours phone to pc via usb cable
u need to install adb interface for sideloading download from here..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
after installing this.. open cmd prompt and then locate it where u stored the ota file.
and then use the following code to install the ota
adb sideload finename.zip
it will stay at 66% for 3-4 mins.. donot close the cmd window and do not disconnect the phone from pc or u may endup in softbrick
file name just copy paste and then use.zip at the end..
this are the steps to install it manually via adb sideloading

Oreo update not coming?

InoHello everyone.
It has been a long time since my last post....
I bought my HTC U11 128GB/6GB last August and I find it awesome. Since the announcement of the Oreo update being rolled out, I became impatient to try it. I checked and checked for updates... but nothing. Right now it's running Android 7.1.1, SW version 1.27.400.21, with the October 2017 security patch.
How can I find if there are other updates that I didn't receive? How can I find my model number? How can I force the updates?
Info: My phone is already unlocked (it's the first thing that I did after receiving it).
Edit: with Simple CID Getter I found out that my CID is HTC__060. Is it the DUGL/India model? If yes then I guess that the Oreo update didn't arrive yet?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

I just did a backup. Downloading the first files to upgrade from 1.27.400.21 to 2.31.400.6 now. Do I have to flash all the files? OTA, recovery, boot and firmware? Or only the OTA zip is enough?
Edit:
I tried to install the OTA Zip with TWRP and it gives me an error message. I think I will wait until the official OTA arrives (hoping it doesn't take too long).
The wwe version has only just been updated so you'll probably get the update in a month or so once the carrier is happy with the release. My advice is to wait. Do not root and s-off for it.

Had exactly same problem as OP.
Solution with VPN worked for me. And phone updated to Software version 2.42.400.3

Downloaded the first time with VPN, tried to install it, but it didn't work (I had TWRP, and after reboot I got the message that the update was corrupted). I flashed the recovery from the Google Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...EYtQ_tRcOSJ0vWcvk8a7TK8Hk/edit#gid=2137120377
using:
Code:
adb reboot download
and then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_1.27.400.21.img
I checked for updates and it asked me to download it again, no VPN needed. Downloaded it and tried to install it (much faster). Phone restarted, update started, and after a few seconds I saw a black screen with a red triangle.. it looks the same as when it's in recovery mode.... Had to restart the phone again.
I'm trying again to download it and I'll check better if I can see the error.
Edit: It goes fast from 1% to 24%, then it stops at 24% for about 19 seconds and then black screen with red triangle...
Any idea what the problem could be?

Sorry, don't think I can be of any help here. Have almost no experience with this sort of things.
In my case I did not do any tweaking with the original OS.
First tried to explore any possible option to get it "official" way.
My only guess would be to try to roll back to the original state and to have no trace of tweaking.

Yes, I will try to do a factory reset this weekend. If it's not working, I will try to follow the instructions on the other post to flash a RUU.
Edit: I did a factory reset, tried to update to Oreo, it still stopped at 24%. I flashed the latest RUU I could find on the spreadsheet, and then after 2 updates I'm finally on Oreo!!!

As far as i know rooted phones will not get OTA. You have to manually flash update.zip and root again, because rooting needs bootloader unlock and will not recognise the device in update server. I guess you have to wait for manual update zip...?

You will get OTA on rooted phone but it wont install. Even just replacing the recovery wont help as your stock boot is modified while root. you need to flash the stock boot as well before you will be able to update via OTA.
Stock phone
