Ok guys. I have a HUGE mystery here. I have a Nexus S...i believe it was running 2.3.3 when I bought it from best buy 2 months ago.
I have no cell coverage at the building at work in so i connected my phone to the wifi network and configured the phone to make calls over wifi via the friendly wifi calling wizard (NOT VOIP CALLING). after this point, all calls, sms, and mms were routed over the wifi connection at my work.
2 weeks ago 2.3.4 was pushed to my phone. now there is no more wifi calling...and there is not a wifi calling app (not voip calling....i am talking about UMA calling).
i have called tmobile who knows nothing about it..i have called samsung and called google...all know nothing about it and keep mentioning voip calling..which is not what im talking about.
i have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone and installed android 2.3.3 but there is no wifi uma calling.
what gives? anyone else have this crazy issue?
Huh?
Im curious how you got the UMA wifi calling on the nexus s in the first place. It was never a feature and through out the forum people were saying is next to impossible to get wifi calling on the nexus s because of its unique firmware of what not.
This does not come with stock 2.3.3 so I am curious wherebyou got this package to install it. Being someone who is working with it the RIL fails on the auth functions. If you actually found a working package this would be quite interesting to get a hold of.

Ever since I've been on the n5 receiving calls to my Google voice number has been hit or miss. Making calls is not a problem. Most of the time it keeps ringing on my hangouts on my PC.
It works perfectly on my n4. Rings both on hangouts and on my n4 but when I swap the SIM to the n5 it becomes flaky.
I've updated imei in the database and even removed and added the number back in Google voice.

I've had the same issue with my Google Voice. I had it with Sprint integration but could not receive any phone calls. I could call out fine. Did you end up resolving this issue because i would love to fix my issue as well. I even had Sprint reactivate my phone but nothing works.

I think i've narrowed it down to cell signal. When I switch it to 3g in mobile networks i get a strong signal and calls come in immediately. When I switch back to LTE, i get a very weak signal and calls received are very inconsistent. I'll test again when I'm in a strong LTE signal area but so far that appears to be the culprit for me.

I think you are on to something. When I got home where I have an airave I was able to make and receive calls with Google Voice enabled. I will also be switching the two correct SIM for for the nexus 5 when it arrives so I hope that will help. I will update if I get better results then.
So the title pretty much sums it up. I have a rooted sprint nexus 5 running stock 5.0.1. And I'm a still randomly missing calls and texts. Phone doesn't ring. Missed texts and missed call notifications don't appear until rebooting the phone.
I know this was a problem with 4.4 on the nexus 5 but I thought 5.0 was supposed to fix this. Am I do in something wrong? Help would be much appreciated.
Check your network
I'm having the same problem
I have had a Nexus 5 for the last year. It was a great phone but did miss some calls, but had good reception. I recently broke that phone and purchased a newer one. The reception is awful. I had to buy a microcell booster just to work it in my home where I didn't have to before. If the phone has one bar you can't receive or send calls. If it has two bars it's a crap shoot. Often times when I call there will be two bars and as soon as I press send to call someone the phone drops to no bars. Is this a software or phone or hardware problem?
My issue seems to be receiving texts and calls while on wifi. If so, I will get texts really late, or out of order. With phone calls i just may note receive them at all, nor get a missed call or voicemail notification. I've heard some peopl say that the issue an LTE one and switching to 3G helps the problem but I've found that recently that is not the case. If I am on wifi my sprint nexus 5 just cant seem to get it right...
For Sprint, there could be issues with the signaling for voice/sms when on LTE since the N5 is a single radio for everything. Another thing it could be is the modem version. Also if you got a replacement it's possible the connections are just loose inside or one of them is disconnected for the antenna.
I'm on sprint too and I get the notorious double texts has to be something on sprints end

Sorry to necropost, but i'm reviving this to see if anyone else is still having the same problem??? Has this been fixed on Android 5.1 or 5.1.1 ? There has to be a better solution than having to be on 3G and keeping wifi on only when phone is awake. Help or advanced knowledge of the problem would be appreciated.
Its Sprint, it sucks

I came from the OP3 and now have the 8gig/128gig and still using T-MOBILE. When I have my WiFi on, I'm able to make WiFi calls with no problems. But when I go out of range when on a wifi call it will just drop the call instead of handing it over to the carrier (T-Mobile). When I was using the OP3, and making WiFi calls, this would hand over with no issues.
Anyone showing the same behavior? Could this be a network problem or a device issue (that could be fixed with updates)?
Cheers!
Really? Am I the only one? No one has a comment/ideas?
My internet provider is AT&T, if that makes a difference, and I've tried the 2.4 and the 5.0 mhz channels, but it just won't change over to the more reliable source with out dropping the call.
Anyone know IF WiFi calling can be enabled on the Verizon network? I know it's enabled through my carrier (coming from Pixel 3 XL)
I am very interested in this as well. Have zero cell coverage at my job, but amazing wifi coverage.
That and a way to do wifi texting, but I think I may have to dig around for that one.

i think WiFi texting is tied to WiFi calling they really handicapped the device on Verizon's network. All it can do is essentially make and receive calls...
I know the T-Mobile version can on T-Mobile, but it's there anything that keeps the unlocked version from doing it on T-Mobile? I may switch if that's the case.
I love this phone so much I may have to switch to T-Mobile.

I did figure out a way to 'make' the option appear using a newer verizon of the Oneplus Logkit apk...(dial *#800#, pick Oneplus Logkit>Function Switch> VoWifi Switch). But after enabling it, it doesn't seem to work yet, and it somehow seems to break MMS if it's on. Not sure if they are actually working on it or not, but I wish someone could see if they could get it working. I think I got the APK from here, but I can't remember from where, so whoever you are, I'm sorry for not crediting you. If someone wants to mess around with it...by all means.

Install the Verizon Messages (Message+) and you should be able to do wifi texting. I tried the log kit as well and it doesn't seem like VOWifi is working but it is hard to tell. I can make Wifi calls using Google Voice and that number but only if not in Airplane mode. Seems to be a bug as it says to turn off airplane. Voice then proceeds to make a wifi call. Maybe the same effect with regular VOWifi where it would use wifi if there is no cell signal.

I actually switched to t-mobile, and voice over wifi, wifi texting and all that showed up and work great. Message+ does not allow wifi texting on Verizon on this phone, tier 2 support said development phones (that's what the OP7 is certified under) are not eligible to use advanced features on the network, including, voice over wifi, video calling and text over wifi using Verizon messages.
I got text over WiFi to work with Verizon messages + and use Google Hangouts over WiFi for the calls. Decent enough work around.

It does not. Used my OnePlus 7 Pro for a couple of days and no WiFi calling.
