Dear Honor! Regarding updates - Honor View 10 Questions & Answers

Ok I got my phone 4 MONTHS ago! I wanted to update my phone but no updates i contact honor support they tell me i need to wait upto 8 weeks 130A! I wait out the 8 weeks to get my update but i get nothing. I contact the support again and i ask what happend with the update i was told it had been changed for 130B i was told that if i wait to 21 march i would be getting an manual update so around 6 more weeks. I waited those weeks and guess what ah no they cannot do manual updates even tho they promised me that update will be sent the 21. Now 3 april i contact them they tell me 130A and 130B Never exisisted and that 140A is the update i will get in 8 weeks from 2 april meaning if they did not lie again a total of 6 months wait to get 1 update! That sickens me!
Dear Honor get to work on ur support!
Edit :Im still on 8.0.0.120A(C432)
[QRCODE]Just Update ME![/QRCODE]

Same here. I was told to wait until 22. March, and then to wait 8 more weeks. So now, I have to wait until May to get my first update, just like you.
I know the Honor is obligated to send updates every 3 months, so I'm asking what now? Do we really have to wait 6+ months? If so, this is definitely my first and LAST Honor phone. It's just frustrating.

Hello,
Love my phone, but without update I will change the phone next time. We don't have any security updates, so disappointed with Honor ?

I think all of us is disappointed. The view 10 is like a Ferrari without the engine.

Keep supporting the post I will send this to honor

Lack of updates has literally pissed me off. It is better not to buy Honor/Huawei phones no matter how compelling they seem

Shame sbout this company. If they really want to compete with the likes of Oneplus they really have to address the lack of support and otas.
I was close to buying this phone but after doing my research I can see the majority of customers are disapointed with lack of updates .

Firmware finder for Huawei in the app store now has several EU updates.

I've just bought op5t sending this crap back unusable video

Guys! Firmware finder added du updates! Huawei can't support us they can

I updated my Honor View 10 to 130 update through the Firmware Finder, but I'm not sure about the newer updates. It shows that there's a 141 update. Has anyone tried it?

For the moment it's not possible to update with FFH. Il tried several times without success

i am on B130 with Huawei Firmware finder with the Proxy trick and it shows B140 and B141

I fully agree! It's April now and the phone shows an Android security patch level of January the first. The support team told me I might have to wait until June (!) to receive an update. Additionally there is no fully working custom ROM supporting every feature of the phone so far. And maybe there will never be one. Next phone will definitely be an OnePlus again.

yup, i also wonder about this.
i know honor/huawei is doing a great job in keeping the phone up to date with latest patch, but the ota rollout process is quite slow and most of the phone did not get it on time. Currently, my view 10 is still stuck with January security patch despite newer patch for march n april is already available for a long time?
i understand ota is roll out in batch, but it is quite unreasonable if we need to wait for a few month just get a security update, by that time new update will also become available and we need to wait again and this keep going on.
i hope the ota rollout can be improve.

I don't understand Honor, my wife have Honor 7x and this morning received second update... I have honor view 10 and nothing...

I wanted to buy the Honor View 10 in two weeks for my birthday. I have had the Honor 7 so far. I was happy with the phone but not happy with the update policy. I thought this changed? Now i read this and i start to doubt if i should get another honor phone when it still takes so long for the updates and patches to be delivered.

Was seriously considering the v10 myself but their update policy is terrible.Im not going to get one now.Looking at the Nokia 7+ which has Android one and guaranteed updates for 2 years for android versions and 3 years of security patches.I will wait to see how much tbe Oneplus 6 costs first though.

Official lollipop on its way?

I'm not brave enough to brick my phone but if there is an unofficial version of lollipop available is it likely the official version won't be far behind?
We've been hearing the same story from Huawei for a few months.
Personally, I don't believe Huawei would go through the lengthy hassle of beta testing lollipop and not bothering releasing lollipop. Just don't know when. Every couple months Huawei tells us to wait for another couple months, so on and so forth.
I feel they're too busy polishing lollipops on their newly released devices and it feels that our device isn't a priority, which is a shame. Unfortunately, most people outside these and similar forums don't really care ALOT about new software updates. But IMO in long run its going to hurt Huawei.
Have you managed to install lollipop on your?
It lasts since a long time ago. Huawei has never really took care of update since the beginning 2 or 3 years ago.
I bought the mate 7 it was an informed choice.
What I mean, is that, if you buy a Huawei, you have to know that update could maybe never come...

Or worst...maybe LP update arrives via OTA and, due to EMUI interface, it could be bugged (like already happened to first releases of LP for Samsung and other brands).
So, what's better? Stable KK with some limits and maybe a little boaring now after months, or buggy LP fashion but buggy and maybe with self rebooting problems or other unknown bugs??
What' s better? Personally I prefer to wait some months untill Huawei is 98% sure about a stable release, and let finally test this 2% to other ansious customers...
Yes, I agree!
Yes its on the way since long time, its long way

Is the B360 the official Nougat update?

Hey guys,
I think that most of the people "assume" that the B360 is the official Nougat update. But is there any official communication or has anyone received the B360 through a normal OTA update (not through HiCare)?
I have the L04 model and haven't received anything yet, and I just wanna make sure that the B360 is not a BETA to 'Charles' my way to it.
Thanks for your answers.

I got the 360 update through the normal OTA update. Not through high care.
I was on the beta N program and am intouch with some body at Honor UK on Google+
I asked him if the 360 was a beta and he said no it was final !
As people who wasnt on the beta got the same update 360 I think we can say that it was the N update.
I would just wait to get yours OTA as it seems like some folk that have rooted Etc are having issues like rebooting etc
My phone is running very well on the 360.
Just wait you ain't missing no big deal

No mate I hadn't rooted my phone. Can't see the point, I have nothing that I really need the required root at the mo.
In the past I have always rooted my android phones soon as I got them but with this one I thought I would leave it as it is.
It's really worth thinking before you root your phone.
I must admit to having a nexus 5 which is of course rooted and has a different ROM running most days but then there are the custom ROMs to support it.
Perhaps that's why I'm finding it easier to leave my Honor 8 as it is
John
I got the 360 through a normal OTA as well. That too some three weeks ago. On L04.
I was not rooted, nor on beta. Rooted all my previous samsung galaxy phones.. somehow wanted to go with this one with out rooting and so far I'm really not missing anything.

Times are changing. I rooted every phone I had and there were a lot of them down to Motorola Defy. And I still believe it was justified, I'd do it again. The original Android was so cumbersome in the past and there were so many better solutions from devs that staying with original system was unreasonable. Not to mention disgusting bloatware. But now, we have AOSP which serves its purpose and EMUI 5 makes it even better in many aspects. And the new functionality appeared with Marshmallow enables disabling unwanted apps cutting them out of any influence to the system and memory.
Yes, 360 is likely EMUI 5, which is equal Android 7.0. But, since Chinese models have 368 already, I think that Huawei is going further as it promised. How far? To Andromeda?
If your phone is bricked, you imperatilevy need to have a SD Card. Put full update on it an install it trough dload method.
When mine was bricked, I didn't found any other way to unbrick it.
Hello, so I can update to B360 through HiCare but I don't know if I should wait until final EMUI 5 because they recommend wiping and then I think I will have to wipe my phone twice... Anybody know if I have to wipe it again when final EMUI 5 comes out if I upgrade to B360 and wipe now?
Hi
I updated to nougat but I have slow Wifi speed. On other android devices on my network I have 80 Mbits but on Honor 8 max is 45Mbits/s.
What are Your Wifi speeds after nougat update?
Best regards

Wow, I didn't know that 368 existed, that's a definite information to wait for a normal OTA
Hello,
I posted a question in the official hihonor community:
https://community.hihonor.com/message/10155
It's still not clear that B360 is indeed the official version.
From the reply: "There is no[t] one latest version for the FRD-L09" (sic)
I can only assume that some phones will receive B360, while others might go directly to a newer build. At least there is a confirmation that all the phones (in the UK) will receive the Nougat update, "eventually".
This Honor 8 forum is getting filled with threads asking the same questions! Do people know that there is a search button? Do people know that having 10 threads talking about the same things just pushes "power users" away? it's impossible to follow all threads so it will be more difficult to get help from people who can really help....

I think you are a little bit confused, b368 is for Mate 8, not Honor 8! It doesn't mean that Honor 8 will receive a version with the same name or version that other devices have.

Hello,
I haven't seen another thread asking if the B360 is indeed the official Nougat version for Honor 8, or clarifying it.
Most of the other threads deal with either how to install it via the Charles method, the Firmware Finder app, and there are plenty of threads for bugs and/or bricked phones.
I believe that a thread where it shows the confusion regarding this, instead of jumping into updating with mixed results, has value towards making users understand the implications of possibly installing a "beta" or a "release candidate" on their phone, and may save them time. Burying this information under tons of other questions in a generic "EMUI 5.0 released for Honor 8" is not as helpful.
Not trying to argue with you, I understand that power users might find all different threads difficult to follow, but I don't think it would be any better if everything regarding EMUI 5.0 was consolidated under one single thread with dozens of messages.
In any case, maybe finally Honor representatives would jump in this thread and clarify whether it is the final one or not

I think the title of this thread Honor 8 Android 7.0 + EMUI 5 oficial released! is quite clear and if took some time to read the following posts you would find that was not necessary to create one more thread speaking about the same thing.
You would also find that not everyone has received or will receive the update at the same time, but eventually everybody will receive it.

I read your thread but I'm sorry to say that there is no mention of an official source that the B360 is official, it's all based on your speculations.
I, and many other users, wouldn't risk and force a BETA or an RC on our phone, thus I created a simple straight-forward thread to know if Honor has announced anything about it, since I haven't found anything.

FRD-L04 B385 still the latest?

I haven't been staying too up to date because there doesn't seem to be much to keep up with. Is B385 from two or three months ago with the April security update still the latest release? Firmware Finder kind of turned into unusable adware garbage, and I didn't see anything indicated newer has been released.
Yes it is the latest.
If you read about a Hauwei product at least once per year, you're probably up to date.
In this case, you are definitely up too date.
Too many upto dates . We are using honor product's since last three years and are clearly aware if their broken promises

EMUI 12

Has anyone got the update yet for the Pro series? Stable release was supposed to be released in January of this year, but I'm still on 11.0.0.230 (UK). I'm well aware how Huawei are with updates, but 12 brings a good amount of features.
same here in Bulgaria.
stuck with 11.0.0.230
Almost all from the local android forum get emui 12, but i am without luck.
tried a lot of tricks and nothing..
-software app cache clean
-region change
-with/without sim card.
and no and no.any idea why they do not release update for our c432 11.0.0.230?
or trick how to receive the update package
It will be released at some point, but the issue with Huawei is they're always waaaay behind on roll outs unfortunately. So it's a waiting game essentially.
yea im stuck with.230 for months, even emui 12 is released in my country for weeks now, it sux
That's not happy news.I think that nore than month official in my country and nothing..
Just got it today in UK (on EE)
Well that's a good sign, I'm on Sky mobile and haven't received an update yet, but since you've got yours than it shouldn't take much longer for other carriers to follow I suppose.
not quite, my friend got it weeks ago on same network, im still stucked on .230
Just got .260, still no emui 12
it will come today or tomorrow, just check it regularly
*Update* - Just received an update, but unfortunately it was (.260). Oh well.. Just have to keep waiting
I did get update to EMUI 12 like week ago. Im from Poland. I was able to force it using HiSuite on PC
Could you explain how you did that please? I'm familiar with the modded Hisuite and firmware finder from the P20 Pro days, but some insight on how you managed it would be very helpful.
I did get update to emui 12 yesterday. At first from 230 to 260 and then to 12.
Can anyone confirm that when you've sideloaded GMS, it still works fine upgrading to emui 12?
Yes
As stated above it doesn't break gms, once it's on your phone it stays unless you've factory rest your device.
Received a few days ago in Bulgaria. First update to 260 then to emui 12.
Unfortunately, the battery appears that drain fast.
Before the update, I made 7-8 hours sot, yesterday with the update 4h and 10 minutes..
Hope that it will be optimized..
Two weeks after OTA 12 my GMS stopped working - device is not certified...
Suddenly today GMS stop working. Any sugestions? All GMS apps are useless. EMUI12. Bulgaria.

Question Still on November Security patch

I have a Pixel 7 Pro purchased through T-Mobile. 100% stock, no modifications. Google Play System update is Nov. 1. I am still on the November security patch. Attempting the system update results in ""Your system is up to date" Is this a google problem, TMobile slow update or a phone problem?
T-Mobile I'd imagine. Just use Pixel Flasher or https://flash.android.com

How is it? Stable enough to daily drive? I was stuck on the Nov. 22 patch as well until I sideloaded via ADB last night.
Nov 1 is the latest Play System Update afaik, at least thats what the QPR shows....
Google is having problems
This is one of those moments where it's not you it's them is actually true and not gaslighting . Play Updates are not rolling out properly

Seems you are not alone.
T-Mobile is running way behind on Google Pixel security updates
Timely updates are supposed to be a prime Pixel perk
www.androidpolice.com
Yeah I am on December update very annoyed with Google nothing has changed
Deleted
That sucks and should not be the Pixel experience. I would call T-Mobile and ask them why you are on an old update?
I have had decent updates so far but would be rather upset if I had a security update that was older than other OEM as that is part of the reason for getting a Pixel.
Sign up for Beta and you'll get QPR2 Beta 2. In my experience, it is much more fluid and responsive than previous builds. It fixes the scrolling issues and seems to have improved battery compared to the December update.
My wife's P7 still is on Dec update and says it's up to date. I manually flash and root mine, but not about to go to that work for her phone.

Can't you just adb sideload update.zip without having to even unlock the bootloader?
Full OTA Images for Nexus and Pixel Devices | Google Play services | Google for Developers
developers.google.com
Google provides the means to update it yourself manually easily if you're not willing to wait for your turn. Their tools aren't even that complicated to use. I don't understand the big deal when you have manufacturers like Samsung that can take 3-6 months or longer to update between major version releases, Motorola that updates whenever they feel like it and only gives 2 years of major version updates, and OnePlus that's always behind like 2 months in security updates.

If she's complaining about it, 10 minutes in your hands beats you hearing about it for however long it takes for the update server to decide it's her turn.
Also mine show November as last play service update (I'm on the beta). Italian unlocked phone
Nov is the latest still for play system. There wasn't a Dec and Jan hasn't rolled out yet

There's also the indeterminate minutes, if/when something goes sideways...
This is being delayed for un-branded devices as well, such as mine purchased G-Store direct, based on some sort of carrier-block. I'm tempted to go dig through some dev-docs, to see if I can find this (could be an section not published for most, I suppose), but I figure to what end, mostly.
As you mention, easy side-load, but without knowing why this is being blocked for non-TMo (branded, so not gated by their release of their OTA) devices, it's a gamble of sorts...
I just posted in another thread that I think this is an odd situation. I use an MVNO Boost Mobile that uses T-Mobile and I got the update on the 5th. Maybe I got it before they pulled it? Why would they hold the update back to T-Mobile customers but not the MVNO?
