Omnia vs. Xperia

I am going to get either the Xperia or the Omnia, the only question is which. I would like opinions from others please.
Thanks in advance.
Personally I'd choose Touch Pro.
it really depend on if you want a keyboard or not as on xperia got one
and higher screen res but lower mpixel cam
but some rumors say that xperia may not get released untill feb 2009
FYI...here's the so called official omnia thread for info:

Thanks for the info galaxys
the camera - Samsung cameras (on phones) are never as good as Sony Ericsson or even LG. Even the G800 with it's so-called 'optical zoom' is rubbish.
Last Christmas I had a LG Viewty, Sony Ericsson K850i and Samsung G800. The K850i camera was much better, even better than the N95 camera.
And yes, I know how to use a camera, and what exposure and focus to use.
The 16 gb version of the Omnia is only being released in the US.
xperia hands down

But Xperia will be produced by HTC. Then we do not know if it will have a great Sony Ericsson's CCD matrix or poor HTC's CMOS matrix. There is no point in this discussion until we see any pictures taken by it.
hm?
comparison at theunwired

What ? Which source mention this ? How do you know that Xperia will be under HTC development? Did SE joined forces with HTC on Xperia platform ?
Check this out about camera and picture quality among these phones : http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=289
Xperia will be availiable in Sweden since mid of October.
I vote for the HD definetly!
the 16 gig omnia was on orange but im not sure if it still is
i have it
the camera is **** hot
Sony the one and only...
when my Uni dies,(not any time soon) i will probably look at the X1 as long as Sony supports this phone it should be pretty good. I'm not a fan of sliders but I have to have a key board the TV out is also a cool feature and who knows maybe a mini Blue-Ray recorder, lol,. Dual expansion slots would've helped since I have a bunch of Memory-sticks collecting dust
i have both omnia n xperia and i must say,omnia kick xperia's ass big time...why u ask?? here's why...
*note:comparison are based on out of box experience.
1)accelerometer based applications + games rules,
2)camera rules,camera features like face detection,smile detection,mutiple scenery mode,lanscape mode,business card scanner,5mp still can zoom in(xperia 3mp but cannot zoom,only can zoom at 2mp settings & below)
3)samsung provide on going official firmware update
4)"end user" provide on going custom firmware update
5)omnia code like *#0002*28346# allow volume cuztomisation. So far there's no such code for xperia volume hack yet.but i could be wrong
6)built in 8gb or 16gb memory.(dun even need a micro sd card anymore)
7)omnia widget is far more useful compare to xperia panel(especially the stupid fish panel)
8)Taking pics with xperia is a pain!! camera shutter speed is too slow.really need a super steady hand to take decent pics or else pics will blurr!!
well, these are my personal experience with both phones.....cheers...sorry for bad english.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
thx al3xband for the comments.. I still struggling between xperia and omnia. Prefer Xperia coz it is from SE, have keyboard but the price too exp. Now wonder if I shall get a white color Omnia from Singtelshop...

Atlast finally Xperia Z1 is official now

Sony officially unveiled the hotly anticipated Xperia Z1 that has become well-known under the internal petname Honami. The Z1 brought friends on stage – the QX line of lens-style cameras and a number of other accessories.
Sony Xperia Z1
The Z1 is undoubtedly the star of the show – measuring just 8.5mm in thickness, the Xperia Z1 houses a large 1/2.3" sensor – that's about 70% larger than the sensors on most phones and Sony achieved it without a hump on the back like most other handsets with large sensors.
The camera uses all-Sony tech – an F/2.0 Sony G Lens, a Sony Exmor RS sensor and a Sony BIONZ image processor.
The camera shoots 20.7MP stills and records 1080p video (sorry, no 4K). Sony has developed a custom camera app that offers manual controls and impressive augmented reality features. Third-party devs will be able to use the advanced features of the camera to make their own apps as well.
The Xperia Z1 justifies its name by borrowing the best features of the Xperia Z – slim, water resistant body with OmniBalance design, a sharp 5" 1080p screen and powerful Snapdragon chipset. However, the Z1 is certified to go deeper underwater, it has a new, higher-quality screen and it packs the latest Snapdragon 800 chipset running a Sony-customized version of Android 4.3. And the battery capacity has been bumped up to 3,000mAh.
The new flagship has 4G LTE connectivity, along with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and NFC, which are used to connect with the next couple of gadgets.
The Sony Xperia Z1 will be available this month in Black, White and Purple.
Sony Cyber-shot QX100 and QX10
The Sony Cyber-shot QX line of lens-style cameras launches with two models – the QX100 and QX10. Both have their own optics and image sensor and can use an Android or iOS device as viewfinder (pairing is done with NFC if available then the image is streamed over Wi-Fi).
The QX100 has a huge 1" Exmor R sensor with 20.2MP resolution, F/1.8 ZEISS Vario-Sonar T* lens, 3.6x optical zoom and stabilization – the same specs as the acclaimed Sony RX100M II. The QX10 is more compact and features a longer zoom range – 10x – and has a Sony G Lens coupled with a 1/2.3" 18.2MP Exmor R sensor.
Both lens-style cameras shoot 1,440 x 1080p video at 30 frames per second and have enough juice in their batteries for 230 shots (or 55-65 minutes of video recording depending on the model). The QX cameras can attach to smartphones of various sizes and some Xperia phones will get dedicated cases that protect the phone and offer an attachment point for the camera. Both QX100 and QX10 can work separately from the phone, while still streaming to the viewfinder, which makes framing in tight spots a breeze.
Looks cool, and would be really cool if they had the clip and full integration with our phones, which I doubt, because we'll probably get left out in the cold with support for it. Reading articles, the 100 model is going to be $500, and $250 for the 10 model. A bit pricey too.
The lens are horribky overpriced, and only available now on the XZ. Would love to use one of those lens attachments on the L!!

Sony today announced the launch of its flagship Xperia Z1 smartphone in the Indian market. The smartphone, which goes on sale today, has been priced at INR 44,990.
Sony India introduces Cyber-shot QX10 (12,990), QX100 (24,990) lens-style camera & Smartwatch 2 (14,990).

[Q] Xperia Z1 Compact or Galaxy S4

Hi,
I want to buy a new phone. My main requirements are:
1) Excellent audio quality (through in-ears)
2) Seamless access to Google services
3) Good battery life
4) Decent camera
I have zeroed in on the Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z1 Compact in my price range. I like the screen of the S4, but I'm finding very mixed reviews about its audio output capabilities. However I like the Z1 compact more (I like its squarish industrial design), but am unable to find any detailed reviews about its other features. The Z1 compact is around Rs.4000 (~$80) more than the S4, so I'd be spending more if i got that.
Any suggestions?

The Galaxy S4 and the Z1C are in two very different inch ranges. If the screen inches are not an important point for you, between these two phones, I think the Z1C is a good choice. However If I'd need a phone with the features that you described, I'd take a HTC ONE. I also suggest you to take a look to LG G2, and to Motorola Moto X. Good luck with your new phone!!
Go with the japanese
I think Z1C is a better choice =)

[Q] Camera performance - stabilization

Hello folks
I've got some questions regarding camera. As far I know it is overhyped already, however I'd like to give it a chance.
I made contact with staff of OPO and one of them said there is NO stabilization (any type - no optical, no digital), the second guy told me there is stabilization.
It seems devs don't know what they are doing there so I wanna ask you, some of you have phone and can help me out in decision - either OPO or LG G3 or Sony Xperia Z2.
Is there video stabilization? So far I've seen videos - they shake much, my old Galaxy S II produces this like movies and this is 3 years old device!
For how long 4K recording lasts? On most phones there is limitation - either time or size. Example LG G3 there is limit of 5 minutes, Xperia Z2 turns off because of heating (but undervolting helps to make video longer). Galaxy S5 has limitation of 4-5 minutes. How is OPO?
I've seen night shots not too spectacular and blurry...
SO far most impressed I am with Z2 camera, especially stabilization. It is digital one but is really great. There are some cons, loss of details in this camera but can be somehow corrected.
But price..... OPO 300 EUR, Z2 500 EUR.
Cheers!

Is it wise to switch?

4 persons have 4 phones:
1 Sony Xperia Z3
2 Samsung Note 4 Edge
3 Samsung Galaxy S4
4 LG Leon
We're thinking about upgrading
1 Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
2 Sony Xperia Z5
3 Sony Xperia Z5 / Z5 compact
4 Sony Xperia Z5 compact
Usage:
1 watching movies (from own NAS, online or Netflix), playing games, social media, photographing/filming in and around the water, playgrounds etc.
2 manage webshop, social media, photographing/filming on land, SpotifyC
3 takes a lot of pictures of her grandchildren and wants good images. Most are to be shown on TV, computer or phone, but some are to be printed in albums or at cards, further only phone and social media function
4 watching YouTube, playing games
For which users is it not wise to switch to the Xperia Z5?
There are many negative reviews about the camera online and especially #3 is going for the quality of the images and movies.
You remind me about school time ?

And now for some comparison? I don't have the knowlegde about the differences all I can find are negative reviews about the Z5 and the camera.
Indoor children photos or anything that moves actually you'll have a hard time capturing. Z5 is good though for daylight pics.

Are the pictures and video's taken with the Z5 in general better than those from the other 4 devices?
