U11 debrand from carrier soft - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hi. I'm New u11 user, there's any way to debrand my u11? I have carrier brand software with lot of bloatware and no updates. Any way to flash open EUR software or something? Thanks a lot.

Depends on your current carrier. If your phone is gsm then just root, s-off, change cid, flash 401 sku ruu.zip from external sdcard. Job done.

S-OFF is paid right? There's a tutorial on forum how to debrand? Or just flash custom ROM like leedroid? What's better?

S-off is pay for. I don't know if there's a tutorial, most likely if you search long enough.
Custom roms are no better than stock roms.

[Q] Is Super CID necessary or optional?

I've done a couple forum searches between the General & Q&A section, and I haven't found the answer.
I've already S-off'ed, Rooted, and flashed CWM 5.X. And I'm just wondering if Super CID is necessary after completing these steps.
I'm new to the Sensation/HTC products, so sorry if this is a really noob question.
U do because if u dont it will just limit the number of roms u can flash on ur phone for ex. i use insert coin
nd its based on European sensation nd If I have tmo cid I won't be able to use it

That's not gonna happen. If you are s-off then you can install any custom rom you like.
I, for example, have Vodafone cid but i flashed insert coin, leedroid and rcmix so far.
You have to change cid only if you want to flash an official HTC RUU to, let's say, a Vodafone branded phone.
So for me Super CID is absolutely optional.
I am very confused about this.
I have not gone with SuperCID; I have CID=TMOB0101. I keep seeing in ROM descriptions "You must have SuperCID", and yet I succeed in installing and running that ROM without SuperCID.
I *am* S-OFF and rooted, of course, and I always make sure that I have the corresponding firmware installed.
I've installed current ROMs that are originating from several different continents, as far as I can tell.
So why do I keep being told that I need to go with SuperCID? It seems pointless.

+1 I completely agree with you!...
SuperCID is optional, I think most people will do it as it will allow you to flash any firmware without having to worry if your CID is compatable with the firmware your trying to flash. For example with a vodafone CID you would really only be able to flash vodafone firmware. Although this doesn't cause an issue when flashing a ROM most devs will recommend a certain firmware to be used.
Saying that all the ICS based roms will require a firmware update so it would mean you would have to either edit files within the firmware, SuperCID and now for all those still to worried to SuperCID the guys over at the dev forum have made a nice sticky on firmware updates. HERE without the need to SuperCID
The CID would only limit the capability of flashing Stock Roms from different carriers, for example my CID is BM_001 which stands for Bell Mobile which is the original carrier of the device, if I were to flash a lets say Stock T-Mobile Rom I may encounter some issues. With Super Cid (which changes the CID to 1111111) you open your devices to all other "Carrier Roms"

HTC Desire S debranding

Welcome. How you can easily debranding Desire S from T-Mobile in the official rom for Europe without having to root. Is it enough to create a gold card and flash official RUU to Europe with the same hboot?

In the world of Android, ROOT is everything. As it's often "slanged" in Linux, "I am ROOT; obey me!". It's pretty dangerous navigating those channels without root control/access. And yes, most low-level stuff (like the one you intend on doing) are dangerous. But doable. Yes, the Gold Card is sufficient (but this is from the experience of others, not mine). Tread cautiously.
Remember to leave USB debugging on. Just a.failsafe.

[Q] Some questions about HOX ATT CID, bootloader & LTE

Hi, guys.
I'm using a HOX AT&T with stock rom 1.85, and yes I did the deed, root, spoof CID and unlock bootloader, install TWRecovery. Now I live in Asia so no LTE here, and I don't like the ATT's bloatware at all, also I read some complaints about LTE radio constantly drains battery if not in coverage. Some flashing is in order, but before diving in I have some questions:
1./ Is the spoofed CID permanent? I mean now my HOX is 11111111 CID - like a retail/generic one's, what will happen if I flash a RUU from another operator? Does a RUU from AT&T make my phone's CID go back to before and I need to start the whole nine yards again?
2./ I understood flashing a stock rom will un-root the phone okay, but what about bootloader? A RUU flashing wont re-lock the bootloader, or will it?
3./ Like I said, I can't stand bloatware, in the roms section I saw this RUU_EVITA_UL_ICS_40_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.23.707.2_Radio_0.19as.32.09.09_L_10.104b.32.25L_release_271654_signed and a newer RUU 2.29 Asia somewhere else, are those unbrand roms - like the ones come with retail/operator-free One XL?
4./ I saw warnings about this specific rom, 2.20 of AT&T, no root, new hboot... all basically spells trouble, but what about branded roms with higher version number like O2 DE 2.29 or Vodafone DE 2.33, are they kosher?
5./ AFAIK, Europe and Asia has no LTE capability, so if I flash a radio rom from European operators or Asia does it disable the LTE radio in my AT&T HOX?
That's all, thank you guys in advance.
6./ In the thread radio & RIL , I read that update 2.2x will replace HBOOT and make old radio not compatible, is it because new HBOOT resize the radio partition smaller? So if I flash a custom rom based on Asia RUU 2.29 for example (not the dreaded 2.20 ATT), my current HBOOT will be replaced by new HBOOT as well? With no S-OFF, we can not flash HBOOT so will I be stuck with the new HBOOT and therefore, new radio roms only?
Looking forward to hearing from HOXL gurus. Thanks.

1. Spoofed CID is permanent unless you go in and change it back. For all intents and purposes, it's permanent.
2. Actually to run an RUU, you must relock your bootloader or it will fail. As long as you have your unlock token or Super CID, you can re-unlocked your bootloader once you are done and flash SuperSU to get root back. Or just flash a pre-rooted stock ROM.
3. Not sure. Make sure to fully read the post. I have never run an RUU for a phone with an RUU from a different carrier. Again, make sure you read about that one.
4. You just don't want to run the 2.20 RUU for AT&T. It will make it so you can not flash radios at all and you must flash boot.img from adb or from Android terminal emulator. It is just the 2.20 RUU that will do this. A custom ROM will not, so no need to worry.
5. It will not disable LTE, but if you don't have an LTE APN in your phone it shouldn't be looking for LTE and you can also turn off the LTE radios on any non-AT&T ROM.
My recommendation after all of your questions would be to flash a pre-rooted stock ROM or a cleaned up debranded ROM (like Clean Rom, but there are more out there). Change the APN to what ever country you are in and do the *#*#4636#*#* thing to turn off your LTE radio. Again, the *#*#4634#*#* to turn off the radio will not work on a stock AT&T ROM.
Thank you, Butters. Still I've got one more question - added in the first post.

If you are flashing a custom ROM, you do not have to worry about your HBOOT being changed. It doesn't matter what the custom ROM is based on. You only have to worry about that with running an RUU (which is from HTC for a specific carrier).
If you have 1.85 on your phone, just keep a 1.85 RUU on your computer and flash away any ROM you want. If something gets messed up and you need to RUU, you'll always have that 1.85 RUU with the old hboot.
Running the 2.20 RUU, you will lose all ability to flash any radios, so you will be stuck with the AT&T 2.20 radio. Being that you are overseas, I would not recommend this because it may not (probably isn't) the best radio for your use case.
If you want a stock ROM, there are pre-rooted versions posted in Development that are flashable from TWRP. Easier then relocking the bootloader and running the RUU, and no threat of hboot changes (or having to research what was changed in the hboot).
Or just install a custom ROM. They are often based on recent firmware versions, but already de-bloated, and with awesome customizations added.
After all, if you want to run a stock RUU, why did you unlock the bootloader in the first place?
Thank guys, really appreciate. Just flashed CR5 with confidence, so far so good.
Early assessment: Quite smooth, the LTE problem with AT&T stock rom has disappeared, battery life improves greatly.

[Q] German T-Mobile back to stock through WWE CID and then T-Mobile OTA?

Wondering, how I get back to stock for my girlfriends One Mini from T-Mobile Germany. The battery has quite strange problems and we want to give it to T-Mobile for service.
I think it won't be good, when the phone is with an International CID even if she bought it from T-Mobile with a T-Mobile CID, right? Flashing stock international would be no problem with S-Off (Just change CID and flash a stock international rom).
The main question is, can I change the CID to an international one, flash a stock rom, change CID back to T-Mobile one, make phone S-On and locked, flash stock recovery and update thorugh OTA? Will the phone get the T-Mobile OTA from then on?
Or do you think I should change the CID to an international one, flash stock, make it locked and s-on and give it to t-mobile?
Many questions but I hope I can get even one answer
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi Patrick
I honestly don´t think you get an OTA update from T-mobile if you only change your cid.
For getting OTA´s the firmware and build number must match and also have to be T-mobile.
Even if you get an OTA it will fail through installation if both don´t match.
(Doesn´t matter T-mobile or not)

T-mobile to unlocked ?

Simple intro, I got a u11 life from eBay, as at&t doesn't sell HTC anymore and my m9 is getting worn out.
The one I got was a T-Mobile version, and I want to flash the unlocked Ruu. Is this possible? I know I could just flash a ton but there isn't many Roms for this phone and I'm not sure if they are modified T-Mobile Roms or unlocked. Roms.
In the previous HTCs you can change cid / mid and convert to international/dev edit/unlocked.
Is this a option as we don't have s-off ?
I just need a fix to use this on at&t
