Is it possible to port pixel 2 camera for kirin processors? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Hi, i am using honor 6x. It's a good phone to use but i saw my friend porting pixel 2 camera on his mia1 and it has enhanced his camera capabilities to top. Since it's a Snapdragon processor, it's easy for him to port. I have been looking over the web but couldn't find any port for the Huawei based roms i.e. for the kirin processors. Is there a mod available for us?

None... Not possible for kirin

Snapdragon or Mediatek?

I'm gonna buy a smartphone. But my question is what chipset should I prefer!?
I want to customize my android. After some research, I found out that Mediatek smartphones(like Letv le 1s) offers more customizing tools, easy root and easily modification of ROM.(Mtk droid tools, etc)
While on the other side Snapdragon{ like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3(SD) } doesn't offer much customization tools, easy root and modification of ROM.
So which on should I buy for this purpose?
Efforts are appreciated in advance.
Thanks!
Actually sanpdragon is much better than mediatek... Sanpdragon has very good supporting community and development than mediatek. If you look to the past, early stage gcam only supports in smartphone which have Snapdragon SoC. But recently mediatek dimensity 1200U is one of the good processor....
So, I personally prefer Snapdragon....

Kirin 970 SoC Announced

Kirin 970 SoC Announced
Huawei just shared details about the new Kirin 970 chipset. As you know, the Honor 9 is equipped with the Kirin 960 and the performance on this phone is fantastic. So whats new with this new chip?
Internal tests show this performance capability allows the Kirin 970 to process 2005 images per minute, which is up from 97 images per minute without the NPU. The new chipset from Huawei is similar to the previous Kirin 960 but sporting higher frequencies, being an eight-core SoC with four being Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.40 GHz and the other four being Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz. The GPU Huawei has chosen to go with is the newer ARM Mali-G72MP12, but the company has yet to announce its clock speed.
They did, however, confirm it will have a dual ISP, but again, didn’t go into detail about its performance. It will be equipped with the Kirin 970 Integrated LTE modem (a Category 18 modem) with download capabilities of 1.2Gbps. The last bit of information that was announced at IFA this year was that it would be built on a 10nm process from TSMC. The company normally has big press events for their new chips, and since that wasn’t the case at IFA, it is likely why they didn’t reveal any more details about it.

Nope, Galaxy S8 US uses snapdragon 835, there isn't a Snapdragon 830
Also the Kiron 970 have 5 billion transistors while the SD835 have 2.5 billion.

I do know that the US variant of the SGS8 was suppose to be the 1st device released with the SD830. I have no idea why they used the SD835 instead.

They may renamed it, since both SoCs use the same config

Linux on Huawei P40 (Kirin 990 5G)

According to many news sites Huawei is preparing Linux based laptop with Kirin 990 processor:
Huawei is preparing a laptop based on Kirin 990 and running Deepin OS 20
Huawei is preparing a laptop based on Kirin 990 and running Deepin OS 20. It will be called Huawei Qingyun L410 and will be equipped with a Kirin SoC.

Wondering what would that mean to us - owners of Huawei P40 - in terms of possibilities to install linux, as same as on PinePhones for example?
Hope they will open up to that some more... Curious thing that is...

Huawei Honor 9 - what opportunities do I have for custom roms?

Hi all,
I have a Huawei Honor 9. Recently replaced it's battery and still find that the phone in general has poor performance nowadays and not great battery life either.
The device currently runs android 9 on Huawei's EMUI v9.1.0 9.1.0.210 Android security patch 5 July 2019.
Please can you help me figure out if running a custom rom here makes sense, will get me any benefits and let's move from there?!

Sorry, I don't know the device. And it seems to be slightly older. Probably, therefore the community isn't too active. Just have a look in the development section.
@jerryhou85 Sir, do you have a recommendation for our member?
I use to own a Honor 6 and I'd say not many custom ROMs for overseas versions, there are still some Chinese custom ROM for local model number, but I doubt they are working well on overseas models.
Guess it is time to move on...
