Hello all,
on friday night my Samsung S6 Duos just died and it seems I'm not able to revive it...
it was running out of charge (was at 5-10% battery)...then suddenly the screen went black and the red led was blinking every second or so...
I thought it was just hung like it happened sometimes, so I tried to reset it pressing vol down+power or home+power buttons, but nothing happened....screen still black and red led flashing....
so I thought it was some kind of battery problem...tried to recharge but nothing changed...no battery icon on screen and red led flashing (not solid as when it is charging...)...
so, since battery cannot be pulled off I waited till complete discharge hoping that would reset it....waited till led was not flashing anymore, then I tried to recharge but nothing is happening....led not becoming red as when it's charing, nor display is showing battery charging....
actually nothing happens, I've tried to leave it charging several hours, both with power cord and with wireless charget, but it just doesn't charge and doesn't power up anymore...also tried to connect it to PC but nothing happens...
do you think that opening it and trying to disconnect and reconnect battery could solve? or maybe changing battery?
or is it probably a fault in the motherboard?
I just want to recover photos and other data saved on its memory but if it's motherborard issue I think everything's lost...right? 'cause memory chips are on it...or am I wrong?
thanks for any hints or suggestions on how to recover if possible...

Why won't my XT720 start up?
When it is connected to my charger, the four action keys light up. Despite leaving it to charge overnight, it appears that the battery isn't charging. The phone won't start while it is charging, neither when connected to the mains or to my car power supply.
I bought a new battery without any improvement.
When I access the bootloader screen it says there is too little power in the battery to program the phone.
The phone is not recognised by my computer when connected.
The phone is running Froyo 2.2. with Dexter rom.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions......apart from binning the phone!
Thanks!
I think the phone likes to selfboot with too little charge. See if you can shut it down cleanly so it won't autoboot. It's annoying but you may have to watch it very carefully to catch it when it's trying to boot because it will drain itself back to death very quickly.

Hi Oakham, do you have any update to your case? I have the same problem now.
Yesterday, I noticed the battery bar went down to orange region (about 30%?). I plugged it to the wall for about an hour (the charging symbol showed up). Later I found out that the battery bar did not move (still stuck at orange region). Later the night, I tried to charge again (the bar was red at about 15% or less). The charging symbol showed up. Later I checked, the battery bar did not improve but declined. The phone eventually went out of battery and turned itself off.
I tried to continue to charge using both the wall outlet and PC USB. No luck. I could not even power up the phone now. Did you manage to resolve your case? Anyone got the same problem and found the solution?
I thought about buying a new battery to try, but then I saw your post, so I hesitated.
Thanks.

I've had this problem. Watching the phone closely while charging and pulling the battery whenever it starts to boot works. After about the fourth time doing this I got a battery charger from amazon for ~$5 because it's gently loving annoying.

Thanks for your advice.
So when you first bumped into this problem, how did you get it back to boot up?
I followed your advice to watch it while it's charging. When I saw the motorola logo showed up, I pulled the battery. Then I plugged it back and let it charged for some more time. Then I tried to power up the phone. The motorola logo came on and then the big battery symbol came on saying it's 100% full (but i knew it's not). Later, those 4 soft touch button lid on. This cycle repeated. And I'm clueless.
Please let me know the steps you took to recover your phone.
Thanks.

Once you get into the system use 'power off' from the menu. It won't autoboot then and you can leave it in the wall overnight. I think. A voodoo doll may work, too. It can be really frustrating, but I've been able to get out of it every time so far. Like I said, I got sick of this game and found a battery charger for pretty cheap.

Try deleting batterystats.bin and doing what M said.. can you get to open recovery and charge from there?
I also had the 'M' logo screen, stuck on-screen when the charger was connected. There is a post which suggests, for this, 'Pull battery.2) Insert battery and hit power button;3) As soon as you hit the power button, hold the volume up button down until the unboxing logo comes up.'
As my phone is still under warranty, I sent it back to see if there is a physical problem. I'll try the above suggested solution when my phone comes back from 'Motorola', whether or not it is repaired by them! I've also bought a battery charger for the phone's BP6X battery from e-Bay (£9.50, including another battery.)At least I will then know that a battery is fully charged before I try fixes.
Thanks for the other posts/replies!

In my experience OR drains faster than it can charge.

Damn!
I had about the same. Battery got drained down from 80% to 5%. Then the screen for "please plug in for charging" appeared. Some moments later the phone went dark and now I can't get it to work again. It doesn't react on the power button. Even when plugged in the charging-symbol doesn't appear. I can't turn it on. Sucks!
Any ideas?
My phone has been repaired by Motorola, under warranty, and returned after four days. Accompanying report is brief: 'Software update and screening'. Seems to be working fine.......just like a brand new phone!
This morning i find myself in the same situation. My phone have the soft keys iluminated but it didint work.OMG... what happend durring the night. So i tried to boot the phone but nothing happend, and after reading tje post on the problem i have tried to remove the battery and put`it back, tryed anothe reboot, and holdind the buttons power+vol up. Nothing worked. did you try charging it over night?
Yes.. Didn't change anything

Did you charge using pc or wall charger? That can make a huge difference. Try charging overnight with wall charger. Mine usually comes back to life after a few minutes at wall charger. Pc just doesn't charge quick enough

2 things you can try.
- the reset button at the SD and sim slot. Its a white square far at the left (display facing upwards).
Press and hold it for 10 seconds or so. (Don't press too strong)
But that didn't ever do anything to me, as I once tried to reboot at recovery mode with it.
- wait, wait and wait until the battery is empty (as it's not easily to be taken out). Then connect the stock standard wall charger. Wait for 15min. You can check what happens, but don't touch the phone.
If the led remains red, you can try to power it on, but chances is that it still doesn't work.
If everything else happens, you might be lucky (the led might not be red again).
Good lluck
I'm always curious if a thing worked, leave a message if success or not.
Hey,
after days on the charger i get following:
Phone charges for about 10 seconds.. screen goes on and so and then it stopps, fashes the red led and starts again. i believe the screen takes to much energy at this stage of charging.
i also know what happened.. at this night my phone showed me a looooong time 50% battery.. and it went off.. so the battery drained to much and i dunno how to get it back to work right without giving it back
i can enter fastboot but adb cant conect.. so i dont know how to make a backup other than this..
Sounds like your charger or your cable are faulty (at least, hopefully it's that)
With the wallcharger it should charge quick enough to not go off again.
Definitely try a different charger and cable, if that fails i recommend you claim warranty because then it's probably a hardware failure.
Chargers were all okay, tested them with my i9305, but with my Z3 they didnt work.. just a loop (Charging Loop i will call it yaaay)
I went to o2 today, they took it without charger or else and will repair it.. they gave me a S3 mini for this time (my s3 lte doesnt take any sim cards anymore x.x)
so, hardware failure i believe.. but it was the new 5.02 lollipop.. so be careful if the battery stucks at certain point!
Hey there.
I'm in trouble with my old Nexus 5. As the battery was becoming less and less powerful, I decided to change it ; and so I did ! Get a new one on Amazon, and installed it.
But now, my Nexus 5 refuse to boot. Even when I put the old battery back. I didn't damage anything, all the connexions seem fine, but the N5 refuse to boot (even Recovery Mode). I also try to keep the Power Button on for 30 seconds, or even bang it, but nothing. With the 2 batteries, same result.
When I put the battery off and charge the N5, the screen does turn on ! The battery logo with the lightning sign appears for a few seconds, then it turns off. And on again, and off.
If in this situation (N5 plugged and battery off) I connect the battery (just a simple connector), I have the charging screen (battery icon fulfilling). But then when I tried to boot it, nothing. The screen just turns off and nothing happens. Even the first screen does'nt show up again.
I am really stuck with this issue as I don't know what to do ! Both batteries give me the same result. The old one is supposed to be charged (at least 50%) but nothing happens..
Could the new battery have damaged the phone ?
If you can help me on this one, I would really appreciate it..
Cheers !
When you connect the phone to a computer, is it detected at all? Maybe it is semi-bricked?
New battery could be doa, happened to me before. Also always fully charge new batteries first or you risk making them unable to charge fully or at all.
Welcome, i've readed alot of topics on the internet about problems similar to this, but nothing fixed my problem. I've tried connecting to wall/pc charger, power button + volume down/up combinations, really all the thing.
Couple days ago after my phone fully discharged ( I rarely had situation like this, I usually charge when my phone have 10-15%, but this day I couldn't. ) I came back home and tried to charge my phone, red light was ON but it still didn't charge after alot of hours. I then tried to fix it, turning on phone etc. but screen was always black and phone didn't want to charge. At first when I tried to boot the Z3 red light was blinking, but after some time it stopped. I ordered new battery, replaced it carefully (though it's battery problem) - then when I connected the new battery for the first time I though I have fixed the problem, battery charging icon showed up for a moment on screen, I was very happy. Then I disconnected charger so I could assemble my phone. Now when I try to charge my phone problem is this same.. like with old battery - Just red light, not turning ON, not blinking. Powering up Key combinations with volume don't fix it. My PC Companion don't see phone. I disassembled my phone again, disconnected battery and connected it - It didn't showed any battery icon again, so why it did when I connected it for the first time? and why when my phone died for the first time red light was blinking, now it doesn't? I want to add that I never dropped my phone or used it in water - never, thats why I was almost sure maybe just battery died after it discharged.
Btw. Important thing is that USB port isn't broken, red light is always ON when I plug USB charger, but when I try to use my magnetic charger, phone never respond - no light. I also tried different cables, chargers etc. Could it really be something with the mainboard?
What could've happen? Why my phone went dead after fully discharged it ? Why battery replacement doesn't fix the problem? I don't get it, is mainboard damaged or something? Can I still try something? Maybe anyone can help me.
Please :/ I cannot afford a new phone right now, really want to try fix it, maybe somehow connecting USB cable straight without usb port can fix it? I heared people do something like this.
Was accessing dual recovery to wipe for a clean slate and it had a sudden death. The charging LED was no longer lit. Left the phone alone for about 2 weeks to let it drain but no response. Decided to order another battery for testing thinking it may have been bad, still no response. What I did notice is that if the battery is removed and the charger is connected, the LED blinks red constantly. However, if I were to attach the battery connector the LED will stop blinking after a few seconds. Is this an issue with the motherboard itself or can there something be done to bring it back to life?
*Update*
Let it charge for a couple of hours. Still not turning on but getting some response at least. The phone will now vibrate in sets of 3's if I hold down Power and Volume +. When trying to charge, the red LED will come on for 5 seconds then off every 5 seconds. When connected to the PC, it shows as unidentified USB, but the sound of it being disconnected is constantly going off. Not sure if anyone knows how I should proceed from here...

Hi my phone is a D6603 and i was having a very and inusual problem like you Sudden death with some response vibrating in sets of 3's. My problem was resolve when i remove the sim then press the reset button 2 times in a row but slowly and the phone was starting again
I dont remember if it was or not conected try both ways
Back up your files and start working to keep it warm and dry, remember that it can be water damage. I downloaded minergate and began to mine in easy difficulty so that it would not become slow, but at the same time to keep it warm. It is only to dry if it was damaged by water, I do not recommend anyone to mine with a smartphone xD
