Yes there is. The first thing I did when I got my S9+.. First, use adb to turn the nav bars to immersive mode. That will hide them but you can still swipe up. To completely get rid off them , you need Substratum+Andromeda+Samsung System Mods theme. Go to the theme and there is an option to remove them completely under System UI. The remove option requires the immersive mode first. Make sure you have your gestures navigation working prior to remiving the Nav Bars. I use Edge Gesture myself and it works great.

works like a charm, i'm using all in one gestures. default launcher has an issue though, the homescreen and app drawer won't stretch, also the keyboard brings up a blank bar.
also, is the launcher mod for removing the page indicator working for you?
How do you setup gestures, sorry for hijacking the thread

Use the adb to hide the nav bar only. Not the full.

I use Nova. Dumped the default launcher because of the Oreo crappy notifications with Samsung Launcher along with the gap space when removing the Nav Bars.

Are you guy still interested in remove navigation bar
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/remove-replace-navigation-bar-t3813885/post77020140#post77020140
The best way for me so far
I tried almost all app to remove and replace the navigation bar for my Samsung S9 but all of them facing serval crop screen and app UI issue. For example Samsung Internet new tabs alignment, Crop grey backgound when windows popping up (I will attache screenshot below.)
And now I think I found the best way so far to fix all these issue
- "Oneplus Gestures" is best one for me for the alternative app to replace the navigation bar because not like others, the pill of this app is always at the bottom (not shift) and it work on overlays app (ex: FB messenger)
- "Hide Nav Bar" is the app that I choose to remove the native nav bar but for now it has some issue which cropping some app and I have solution for that. You have to enable global immersive mode then exclude the apps that cropped. So far I found these apps need to exclude: Smart Capture, Edge Widget, Instagram, Gallery. By filter immersive mode for these app you could use "Immersive Mode Manager" app or just write this adb command
Code:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.samsung.android.app.smartcapture,-com.samsung.android.app.widgetedge,-com.instagram.android,-com.sec.android.gallery3d
- Not finish yet, the fix other UI issue (Samsung Internet, Gallery) you need to use "Routines" app belong to Good Lock 2018 app to use Samsung Hide Nav Bar for Samsung Internet and Gallery app.
Then enjoy your edge to edge screen with gesture navigation. This work around fix all my issue when remove and replace navigation bar on my S9. If you find other issue feel free to discuss.

Same here. I have been using one plus gestures and hide navbar for over a month now and I love it! I am so used to it that I can't go back to the navbar!! It is the best way to enjoy all the beautiful screen of our s9+

As you can see, there is very annoying status bar at the bottom of the screen in Android tablet. It changes your screen resolution and makes screen smaller. My question is how to hide it, to make it auto-hide as the status bar (at the top) of the Android phone

I think you cannot hide because you dun have the home key . If you want to close the application you need the back key .
theres prolly is a way..maybe a different launcher(past experience with my phone) or gotta root and get an app for it.
but there is no IMPOSSIBLE in android....sorta...
Root your tablet and download gesture controls problem solved.

Just one of the many reasons I will root-and very soon.
Thanks guy for response. I mean I dont want to hide it permanently. When need, we can touch somewhere on screen to reveal it (like "auto-hide the taskbar" on the Windows)

gmd gesture control root is what you want in the store. there is a support thread on xda too. you can show or hide the bar by making a gesture.
I highly recommend hiding the bar and using button savior from.the store to navigate easily if you need back home etc too

so there are 2 apps of this kind: GMD GestureControl and Button Savior. Both need root access.

Notifications Bar at the top??/
I have many problems with this particular tablet because my hands typically are hold it around the bottom. When holding it or writing notes I am constantly pressing this or that button on the bar and was wondering, is there any way to put the bar at the top of the screen? I personally think that would be way better for accidental touches. Any body have any ideas??? Hiding it is fine, but I would like to just move it.

Not that I recall, there may be a setting for it, not sure. There is a setting to assign the status bar tho a up or down swipe.
Personally I use up to toggle the status bar & down swipe to toggle my dock.

LOL beat me too it with your edit. You'd think this type of option would be standard to android to be fair.
Actually we don't want gestures. We want a timer and touch event.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6728591/can-not-hide-status-bar
Isn't it possible to start a service that catches touch events, sets a timer and hides the tablet statusbar when the timer ends?
In systemUI of ICS there is in TabletStatusBar.smali:
.field public static HIDE_TABLET_STATUSBAR:Z = false
and
com/android/systemui/statusbar/tablet/TabletStatusBar;->HIDE_TABLET_STATUSBAR:Z
Anyone?
Cheers
Try the app fullscreen in the play store. Most have root but it works perfect!!

nice one aartv! that app is bang on what i wanted to get rid of that pesky task bar!, thanks given
I have tried full!screen a while ago and recommended it to other users too.
But it would be nicer to have something like windows had, hide taskbar, you know the hiding taskbar if your mouse was not at the bottom. But then with a timer based on user input.
Perhaps someone can make that? I will ask the creator of full!screen. Must be a killer app then. So many people want to get rid of that tablet taskbar.
Cheers

Cataclysm rom offers it
the Xposed framework module 'Gravity box' also offers it. Also includes some nifty pie controls to provide navigation without a nav bar. I love it.

I'm using a app called Ultimate Dynamic Navbar. You can make it transparent. It is a navbar replacement tho. You will have to hide your stock navbar using the build.prop edit posted above. The only problem is sometimes it blocks buttons and links if they are behind it. Look in the first pic. The quick reply in tapatalk is blocked. I have it set so I can hold the home button and the navbar hides. The way to bring it back I swipe up from the bottom. I don't know of a way to make the status bar transparent tho.

thx man ,, will give it a try
is it possible ? it is only transparent in the home screen not when you open apps unfortunately, the reason is that the screen would appear much bigger if it was transparent always, all navigation buttons are still clearly visible even in transparent mode.
the color could be adjusted with :
<color name="nav_background_opaque">#000000</color>
(com.android.systemui/theme.xml)
but I do not know if we can force to be transparant
if anyone has tested ?
I use the "Flat Style Colored Bars" Xposed module to tint my status and nav bars according to the currently running app. Makes Android look more like iOS and also much more "integrated". Give it a try!

XPosed 2.5.1 and Flat Style Colored Bars 1.0.5 (latest version)
Did you activate the module in XPosed and did you reboot afterwards?
I we have the same ver. Installed. I dont know why it wont work for me. I ticked the box to activate it and reboot. I reebooted twice just in case. Did you change your dpi? Bcuz I did.
I found an app. Autohide softkeys... not only it can make the nav bar autohide. You change the buttons, make it transparent and change colors. It really is hidden so it may cause a problem. When youmake it show, it will cover the bottom part of the screen. It wont move the screen up to make space.

As far as I know you can only achieve that by reducing the dpi, either globally (for the whole system) or just for the app that controls that status and nav bars, which is System UI. However, when changing the dpi of System UI, the nav bar buttons will veer off to the left instead of staying in the center. That's an unfortunate side-effect of Huawei's heavy skinning.
Apps you can use to change dpi are texdroider dpi (changes global dpi) and App Settings Xposed module, which lets you set the dpi for each app individually. I use 420 dpi (instead of standard 480) globally, and re-set some system apps back to 480 to prevent a mess in the layout ...
Btw there's a whole thread dedicated to this topic somewhere in the Mate 7 forum.

So I'm loving the Note 5, but I have a few small issues with it, one being the layout of the status bar.
I'm currently unrooted, but I'm considering rooting again, but before I trip Knox (I might wait until I at least get a chance to try Samsung Pay), I want to know if I can change the following about the status bar?
Change the clock to hide the AM/PM sign, but still be in 12-hour mode
Replace the WiFi and Data icons with the AOSP icons OR
Hide the up/down arrows on the WiFi and data icons
Change the font size of the clock to be smaller
Hide the NFC Icon
Have the bluetooth icon only show up when certain Bluetooth devices are connected
Disable the location icon
Change the Vibrate/Silent icons to the AOSP icons
I know for sure Wanam Xposed can fix the NFC and WiFi data arrow icons, but the rest I'm not sure about at all. I've been searching around for a while, but i'm not able to find anything easily.
Thanks for all the help.

Wanam is one of my favorites but there is also xblast tools and xuimod that have a ton of really cool customization feature plus status bar tweaks. There is another one specifically for the status bar and I can't remember the name. If I think of it I'll post it. Not sure if the clear app defaults dialog module works on the Note 5 but it's a good one. Removes that annoying default app pop up.

I couldn't get the flat style bar indicators to work. I installed the latest version, but there was no module to enable, even after rebooting.

As long as your rooted, xposed should work. Here is the xposed link.

It was my mistake. I downloaded it, but didn't see the option to install it. I'm already considering paying for the pro features because the icons that aren't flat are a total eye sore.
Using wanam and flat style status bar indicators.
Thanks for all the replies and help guys.
I'm going to wait a little bit before rooting to see how long it takes Discover to support Samsung Pay (so I can show off at least once), and then do it.

thanks for this!!!
Can you add option for app info when long pressing app icon?
Great app. What's the difference betweeen miui-ify and bottom quick settings? Just the theme off them?
Also, notifications comes a little slower with a little animation. Can't we disable that animation?

MIUI-ify has a free trial so that you can try out all the features.
It's also designed to be cleaner and has a few more features.
The notification animation can't be disabled.
Great app thanks ?

Is bqs has the same animation? If so, can you add an option to disable?
I liked both apps. They're great. Great job. ??
Does this drain the battery?
Cool app. But as an user of the paid-version of bottom quick settings I ask myself: Do I have to pay again? Maybe some Discount In-App Purchase Button from the BQS App? ?

It shouldn't drain the battery at all.

There was originally a discount option, but I'm trying to find out what works best.
Download version 1.0 from here and the discount is on the purchase screen:

@TomBayley1, can you make it where we are able to select icons or change icons for URL tiles ? That would be awesome. I have quite a few URL tiles, then maybe I can consider to hide tile text to make it neater, but I can't do it now as all the URL icons look alike.

I'm actually working on another app unrelated to BQS and MIUI-ify that does this.
When I've finished it, I'll be able to port over the functionality

:good:
1) I'm missing the persistent voice activation notification icon. How do I get it back? I hid it & cannot recall how to unhide it.
2) can you put a voice activation toggle as a switch so it is not a persistent notification?
3) I see no way to set my stupid Bixby button as a trigger to turn on the voice feature, can that be done?
I don't have any option to "Don't Show Again" when the notification about "Capturing the screen from now on ..." pops up. There used to be checkbox in BQS, but not in MIUI-ify.
I am using MIUI Rom ...
Hi i've got the premium release, in the last update ( with root and adb permission) i don't see any bug. Play/pause toggle works with Spotify, airplane mode now switch without linking to the setting Page. Very good work

If you have shortcuts for these things then you can add them to the panel as a shortcut.

The popup comes from Android not the app. I can't do anything about that

I see, I didn't know it was from Android. It's ok, I just removed the screenshot tile and no more Prompt.
Hi Dev, I really love your apps. I ve bought both your apps to support you. But there re 2 issue.
1. Can you make the handle appear on both side of screen to make it one hand operation friendly.
2. From the begining (from early version to now, both BQS and MIui-fy), sometime it takes 2 3 second to open an app when i hit a shortcut. Please fix that, it really annoying
Thank you
Hello, miui-ify is a great app, I really love it.
But just to know, is there a possibility to make it on top, replacing the default one?
