I had calendar notifications switched off on 7.1.1 but they have started coming to my watch since the 8.0 update despite being blocked via the Wear App on my phone. Is this a thing?

About a month ago, I upgraded my S7 to Android 7.0. Today, I switched to an S8, also with 7.0
Ever since the upgrade to 7.0, I've been having the same problem with both phones - GMail is taking an excessively long time to sync changes.
If I receive a new email on my PC and then delete it, it still appears on my phone. If I delete something on my phone, it still shows up new and unread on the desktop. Sometimes, these changes don't sync for nearly an hour.
Anyone else experiencing a similar issue since upgrading to 7.0?
I and a couple others have got gmail to synch properly by deleting data for the app. Hopefully that will work for you.
Yes same problem. Also cleared data and cache. It worked for about a day then started the same thing again. Very frustrating.
Ok, I have Gears S3 classic (bluetooth) and S7 Edge. I have had my S3 for several months and all has been great, I love it. But 2 days ago, my watch stopped receiving notifications for text messages only (I still get notifications for other things like calls, emails, etc...) And yes, in my gear wearable app, messages is marked to receive notifications...they just don't come thru to the watch. I am using stock messaging app for Samsung. One thing I did notice when I was trying to trouble shoot, is that I can send texts from my watch to my phone, on the watch, it shows the spinning circle as if it were constantly trying to send the message. Funny thing is, my phone gets the message, but when I go to look at the watch, the "sending" circle is still spinning. It won't stop. I think the fact that it is getting snagged/caught up on the watch's end might be the culprit. I just cant figure out how to fix it. Factory resetting the watch is the last thing I want to do, I'd like to avoid it if at all possible.
I have the Gear S3 Frontier SM-R760 version and I downloaded the 4.0.0.2 firmware and flashed it. All went well. However, I too don't receive message notifications on the watch. I have removed and reinstalled the app on my Note 8 and reset the Gear S3 to set everything up as a new phone but there is still no luck.
If there is any work around to this or anyone can help then it would be greatly appreciated. All of this seem to have happened since I updated to 4.0.0.2 but I hear it's happening on other firmware as well.
Download Pulse SMS onto both the phone and watch. Don't worry about registering as all you're bothered about is notifications. Enable Pulse SMS from the Gear app for Notifications and any SMS messages you receive you will be notified on the watch from the Pulse SMS app on the watch. This so far seems a valid workaround to the problem.
Yeah...its very frustrating. Is there another text/sms app we can use? I see people mention Textra...but I don't see that on apps for watch, just for phone.

So, I unpaired my gear s3 watch from bluetooth list on my s7 edge. Next, I uninstalled gear s plug in from apps list on phone. Then, I went to apps list and cleared cache and data from gear wearable app. Then I uninstalled updates for gear wearable app as well. After that, I went to play store and updated gear wearable app to current version and repaired watch w phone/app. I thought I could do it without resetting watch. But the wearable app and watch wouldn't connect without resetting watch, so I bit the bullet and reset watch. I tried to connect them without resetting watch, but app popped up a message saying I needed to reset watch and it did it itself w push of a button. It didn't take that long to put apps back on watch. And it worked. I am now getting text notifications from stock samsung messages app back on my watch.
2 notes:
#1 - when watch and app reconnected after reset, I did not restore back up, I skipped it and manually went to wearable app to put apps back on as they are listed there. I didn't want to reset watch, but it seems to be working for now.
#2 - before I did all this, I used Textra SMS, and that app sent notifications to my phone no problem. But I wanted to fix the issue, not use a workaround.
Hey all,
My family has a family plan with 4 of the J3's (SM-J337 via Vzw). Their phones will not push notifications in GMail. At times, they can get instant notification when an email comes in. The majority of the time, they may get a notification 3-4 hours after the email was sent to them. Most of those times, they are on a laptop or computer and see they have new GMail, but no notification on their phone. When they open the GMail app, it refreshes and sees the new email in the inbox.
Quite an annoyance. Is there a possible fix for this? Is this the way the J3 is designed, maybe a way to preserve battery? I don't even know why this would be built this way, with no option to opt for push notifications. They are all on the same GMail build as me with my S10+, but there literally is no option for push.
I don't want to root/flash 4 phones, although it'd be fun. Just looking for a fix for just this issue, if possible. Or if they need to upgrade phones to get push notifications. This is driving them insane, rightfully so.
TIA for any feedback. :good:
Found the issue through Samsung who confirmed. Figured I'd update just in case anyone searched for the same symptom while it is relevant to this device.
Google has pushed out its latest and greatest GMail to all devices, which is designed to work on Pie. It still works on older versions of Android, but not as designed. For this case, the J3's my family is using is on Oreo and is one of the last Samsung devices that will get Pie. The Galaxy S8 series is slated to get the update next, then the J3 and a few others will get the update.
So basically the J3 will not work correctly with GMail until 9.0 gets pushed.
My Gear S2 got a large update night before last, yesterday I received no notifications at all. I rebooted the phone, the watch, made sure they were connected via bluetooth, made sure notifications were turned on in the Galaxy Wearable app.
What am I missing? Anyone else get the update and have problems after?
I utilize Microsoft Outlook at work and rely heavily on the Focused Inbox feature. On previous Note phones that I have used, including versions 7, 8 and 9, I also enjoyed using the Android version of Outlook with notifications of the Focused inbox to my Gear S3 watch working perfectly. That is no longer the case with the Note 10 series that has the Microsoft office apps baked in. It is no longer possible to send notifications of Outlook emails to my Gear watch with a new Note 10+ that I use, and after dealing with Samsung customer service trying to resolve this problem, their only solution at the end was to wait until a promised update to the phone Outlook app that they say should hit sometime in the next month or 2.
This is very frustrating, as it makes the Gear watch almost useless to me until the update. And the odd thing is that notifications to my Garmin Fenix 5 watch work fine.
The same thing happened to me..
Upgraded from the Note 9 to the 10+ and outlook to my S3 Frontier no longer works :/
I have been emailing Outllok support and they seem to know nothing about the issue.
I have tried uninstalling and re installing.
Nothing works
I am currently using Outlook and I do not have this issue. I have focus inbox turned off though.

I made a switch to the mail app because of this reason. Outlook on Android has been suffering for a while with many problems.
