AT&T Visual voicemail app -- anyone got it working? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Like many of you I'm using v17 of the pixel dialer on my AT&T GS8+. I really like how it works but so far have not been able to get the visual voicemail app (which I sideloaded from apk mirror) to work. Anyone have that working on AT&T? I think VVM is ok on my account since it seems to work from the built-in dialer

[Q] Visual voicemail CM10

Hey Guys,
I don't have enough posts to put this in the dev forum, but did anyone notice that visual voicemail stopped working in the nightlies for the CM10 builds? Is anyone else having luck getting it to run, or is it me?
Thanks!
VVM didn't work for me on CM10 or AOKP builds. I believe it's a JB compatibility issue.
Also, VVM is the ultimate AT&T spyware app. It has permission to view all installed applications, all running applications and all data. Ditch it and use Google Voice (which works on JB) instead.

Thanks. I'll probably consider Google Voice, too. Just as an FYI - I had VVM working on Alpha 3. I was just wondering what changed.
Thanks for your suggestion!

[Q] Verizon VM app

Is it possible to get the VVM verizon app on a CM installation?.
And if so does anyone have a current APK they could link to?.
I have some stock roms but i cant actually get my way into them to pull some app packages out.
if anyone has played around with this or experimented at all please let me know cause I'd like to get something rather than google voice on my phone for Voicemail. Im not a fan of all my texts being stored online when i do google voice.
I managed to get the VVM apk but it doesnt install.
There used to be an old hacked version floating around, but I haven't seen it in a while. You can't just sideload the apk because the framework is different.
Thats what I figured, I know when I was on Sprint on my Epic i had to use a hacked VVM that hardly worked at all.

[Q] T-Mobile Visual Voicemail Incompatible?

So earlier today I switched to the T-Mobile $30/month prepaid plan and ported my number from AT&T. The voice and data are both working just fine. I'm just having one small problem, that being T-Mobile Visual Voicemail. I want to install T-Mobile Visual Voicemail so I don't have to use up minutes calling the voicemail system, however when I navigate to T-Mobile Visual Voicemail in the Google Play Store, it says "This app is incompatible with your device." Why does it say its incompatible? I checked under my Google Play Account, it has my device listed as T-Mobile, and I tried signing out and signing back in on my phone just in case but to no avail. Are other Nexus owners having this problem? Could it be that T-Mobile Visual Voicemail is incompatible with Android 4.4.2 (I just received the update this afternoon)? I noticed on GP that a new version of T-Mobile VV was released just today, so I would think it would have support for the latest version of Android. Does anyone have any ideas? If anyone else has had this problem have you figured out a way around it? Thanks a lot for your help.
Tmobile is saying they haven't updated the app yet to be compatible with KK. However, if you search around on this forum the apk is available and works swell. GL!

Weird, I've had VVM on my Nexus 5 ever since I got it, and it's always worked.. can't remember if I installed it from Play or from Helium, though.
Here is the link for the VM apk

Use the above post's link to download the APK and transfer to the Nexus 5, then use ES File Explorer (or similar) to install - and you should be good.

Thanks, I just sideloaded it and it works perfectly. I don't know why they're blocking it on Google Play. I don't think the one Rykochet put on Dropbox is even the latest version and yet it works. Come on T-Mobile, get your act together, I dumped AT&T for you.
Weird
I installed it directly from Google play and it's worked fine since the first day I got my nexus.
I'm not rooted and haven't sideloaded anything.
I downloaded it from Google Play the first day i got the phone. Two weeks later i rooted it and by then it was blocked on Play. I just downloaded the APK right on to the phone and opened it. The phone asked me if I wanted to install, said yes and it's been fine ever since

SM-G965U1 & SM-G960U1 - Verizon Visual Voicemail APK

Here is the APK for the Verizon Visual Voicemail application for the SM-G965U1 and SM-G960U1.
This was automatically downloaded on my unlocked S9+ by the Galaxy App store. This application does not show up in the search results in the Galaxy app store. It downloaded to my device overnight and I could not find a way to manually trigger the install. This was discovered by @Averix in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75907191&postcount=11
My wife's S9 was not automatically downloading it for some reason. So I extracted the APK and was able to successfully install it on her S9.
Update: This does not work on an unlocked S7 and probably won't on other older devices.

I have no idea if this works for non-Oreo devices, but would love feedback if someone has a device to try it.

Will the voicemail be transcribed in this voicemail app. I just got an unlocked s9, always had iPhones in the past. In the iPhone Visual Voicemail, the Voicemails were transcribed so you could read them. Also is this an actual Verizon APK or a Samsung APK?
Anyone on Verizon and unlocked S9+ have wifi calling and video calling?

I only have the basic visual voicemail from Verizon. I don't know if you pay for the premium version if it would transcribe.
It doesn't say it's made by Samsung or Verizon, but it looks like the Verizon app that was on my Verizon branded S7.

This may be more detailed than you guys need, but if you can find the app in GALAXY apps and use Lightflow, you're there. I don't know how the Voicemail works standalone, but I wanted the LED indicator and the sound of my choice. Voila ! This was all done on my Galaxy s9.
This app is available through GALAXY APPS, not Samsung Apps. I got it to work, without rooting, using Lightflow as follows:
Open Lightflow
Choose Notification Settings
Choose red "+" plus sign at the bottom right
Choose "From System event, battery, gps, etc.
From "Select system notifications to add", roll down to Voice Mail, check the box, choose "Add"
This will add Voicemail to your Lightflow notifications list, and then you have to pick your settings for it.
On Lightflow's Notification page, find dark blue "Voicemail" and open the "three dots" to the right, choose "settings"
The setting menu is a "slide to the right" type menu. I used "light" , enable light, choose a color, etc. I chose dark blue to match the icon.
So now, I have a dark blue "Voicemail" icon in my apps, and Lightflow makes it chime the sound I chose and lights up the LED at the top of the S9, in dark blue, and it blinks, so I know a voicemail is there. It also shows up on the notification panel.

You do need to pay for the premium to have it transcribed

That is correct. I just don't know if this version of the app will transcribe them if you pay for the service.
I have Verizon BASIC VISUAL VOICEMAIL, which is included in my plan and the Galaxy Visual Voicemail works just fine on my unlocked S9+. Check your Verizon plan, you may not have to pay extra. ( It's worth it to say that Verizon Basic Voicemail is NOT the same as Verizon Basic Visual Voicemail). Here's a link to the Verizon voicemail comparison chart.

I promised the link which is a description and which then leads you to the APK, if you're into that. I didn't do it that way, because the icon downloaded for me from Galaxy Apps when I clicked it. This apk came from the XDA website, here's a link to the post.
UPDATE: I'm not certain, but I think that the blue icon for Samsung Visual Voicemail may only be present in the most recent update pack. I have that because I just got my unlocked phone and ran updates immediately.

I can confirm this. Just unboxed my S9+ last night. No Visual Voicemail app from Samsung / Galaxy Apps. I performed the update just now, and the visual voicemail app was ready for download in the Galaxy Apps menu. Just finished testing it, and it works fine after auto-setting up. Just your basic visual voicemail, no transcribing of course.
Re: Verizon Visual Voice Mail.
Sorry but this app doesn't support Visual Voicemail for Unlocked Samsung S9+ on the Verizon Network. It merely gives you an indicator that you have new voicemail but have to still dial in to hear the message.
Poinmanipo, it DOES work on an unlocked s9+ using Verizon. I'm doing it, it's working.

Yeah it sounds like you are still using the default voicemail.... Not vvm
I downloaded the app from here. Ran the setup. Left a voicemail message. Did I forget anything?
If you don't have Basic VISUAL VOICEMAIL from Verizon, it WON'T work. Basic VVM from Verizon is free with your deal. Check and see that you have the right VM. If not, then get it, it's free.

Are you using a Prepaid Account? Or are you using Postpaid?
Thank you.
I'm not sure what difference it makes if its prepaid or postpaid. Different features on the plan? In any case, I'm using prepaid Verizon with an unlocked S9. But the automatic down load of the blue VVM apk comes from either a Samsung OS update or Android, not Verizon.
Correction: I have Verizon POSTpaid. Sorry.

Verizon's prepaid service only supports basic voicemail. I think that's it the difference he was referring to

Has anybody got the Pixel Dialer working on the OP7P?

I was able to install the Google Phone application from APKmirror (https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-33-0-249138098-release/) working on my OP7P, but it is missing the visual voicemail plus I would love to have the Pixel call screening functionality. I am rooted and have the Google phone framework installed, but I cannot figure out how to get the Pixel dialer working. Has anybody figured this out? Any suggestions?
Thanks

I appreciate it. I see that this doesn't have spam call filtering and there is no mention of pixel specific features like call screening. Is this any different than installing the Google dialer framework and the Google phone application off of the play store?

I too am desperately looking for call screening functionality on my oneplus, but have yet to find anything. The only difference between that apk and the one on playstore is compatibility. One will work, one won't.

Did you figure anything out I tried a few different Google dialers and I can't get my visual voicemail to work. the stock one sucks. It only actually lets me read the voicemail when it's a notification but when I go in the actual OS dialer all I can do is listen to it. I sure hope they fix that in an update later. Maybe it's because it's not actually for Verizon completely

If you are rooted you can install the Google dialer framework for Magisk
Here is a link for the github: https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/GoogleDialerFramework
After you install that and reboot you can install the Google dialer off apkmirror and then it will even update through the playstore after that.

I tried that the other day everything works except for visual voicemail.
Edit. Okay I was finally able to get Google dialer and visual voicemail to work. I had to install a really old version of dialer from the APK mirror . everything seems to work I just get a message every time I open it saying it might not be compatible. I also did not install the framework. On some of my other trials I tried the framework but I think you guys are going to find out when you try to uninstall that you're going to have a bad time.
