Is it possible to get the VVM verizon app on a CM installation?.
And if so does anyone have a current APK they could link to?.
I have some stock roms but i cant actually get my way into them to pull some app packages out.
if anyone has played around with this or experimented at all please let me know cause I'd like to get something rather than google voice on my phone for Voicemail. Im not a fan of all my texts being stored online when i do google voice.
I managed to get the VVM apk but it doesnt install.
There used to be an old hacked version floating around, but I haven't seen it in a while. You can't just sideload the apk because the framework is different.
Thats what I figured, I know when I was on Sprint on my Epic i had to use a hacked VVM that hardly worked at all.

I'm looking for several apps in the marketplace. I know they exist but they don't show up. I have a Samsung Captivate, rooted and running the lag fix and gps fix. I have run the market access app to emulate several other market places T-mobile, Verizon, Sprint etc.
For example, I cannot find paintshop pro, Logmein Ignition, or Caligo chasers. I have heard that some apps might not be available to rooted phones but to me that doesn't make sense. Excluding apps from the market literally forces you to pirate them because they cannot be legitimately purchased from the market.
Is my phone being excluded because it's rooted or could there be some other problem?
Is there a workaround
It seems that after a bit of research that I can see that google has made rooted phones unable to see protected apps. There must be some workaround for this, I cannot imagine all the rooted android users just not having access to large quantities of great apps.
My rom might be the problem
Upon further investigation it appears that my particular rom, and not the fact that I am rooted, might be to blame. Does anyone know how to hide my rom from the market or if I can access the market in a way that will make the market think I am using a different rom.
no work around?
does anyone have an Idea about how to work around this? I seem ro be missing out on some great apps.
Figured I would post in here instead of starting a new thread since this pertains to my question/issue.
I have a Samsung Vibrant running on SoftBank(Japan) network. I rooted and had initially loaded up Bionix Fusion JACs Kernel(TeamWiskey) ROM and was able to download Angry Birds off of the Market. I then wanted to try out Frankin-Twiz (Eugene373) ROM, after I loaded the ROM I went to the Market to find Angry Birds and it wasnt there. This was the only App that I know for sure that I couldn't get after loading the new ROM.. there might be others, I just cant say what they are.
So it is defiantly a ROM issue. Anyone have any ideas why?
try market enable which is available in the market. but i think u also need to root your phone to use it

Ended up just getting AppBrain instead of using Googles Market.. seems to have all the same apps with less hassle.
So earlier today I switched to the T-Mobile $30/month prepaid plan and ported my number from AT&T. The voice and data are both working just fine. I'm just having one small problem, that being T-Mobile Visual Voicemail. I want to install T-Mobile Visual Voicemail so I don't have to use up minutes calling the voicemail system, however when I navigate to T-Mobile Visual Voicemail in the Google Play Store, it says "This app is incompatible with your device." Why does it say its incompatible? I checked under my Google Play Account, it has my device listed as T-Mobile, and I tried signing out and signing back in on my phone just in case but to no avail. Are other Nexus owners having this problem? Could it be that T-Mobile Visual Voicemail is incompatible with Android 4.4.2 (I just received the update this afternoon)? I noticed on GP that a new version of T-Mobile VV was released just today, so I would think it would have support for the latest version of Android. Does anyone have any ideas? If anyone else has had this problem have you figured out a way around it? Thanks a lot for your help.
Tmobile is saying they haven't updated the app yet to be compatible with KK. However, if you search around on this forum the apk is available and works swell. GL!
NX5
Weird, I've had VVM on my Nexus 5 ever since I got it, and it's always worked.. can't remember if I installed it from Play or from Helium, though.
Here is the link for the VM apk

Use the above post's link to download the APK and transfer to the Nexus 5, then use ES File Explorer (or similar) to install - and you should be good.

Thanks, I just sideloaded it and it works perfectly. I don't know why they're blocking it on Google Play. I don't think the one Rykochet put on Dropbox is even the latest version and yet it works. Come on T-Mobile, get your act together, I dumped AT&T for you.
Weird
I installed it directly from Google play and it's worked fine since the first day I got my nexus.
I'm not rooted and haven't sideloaded anything.
I downloaded it from Google Play the first day i got the phone. Two weeks later i rooted it and by then it was blocked on Play. I just downloaded the APK right on to the phone and opened it. The phone asked me if I wanted to install, said yes and it's been fine ever since
I have used Ivona Kendra TTS for a number of years to read ebooks. Amazon apparently has bought them and now wants to charge for TTS at a rate of $4 per million characters, but requires data to use. I am often out of cell service.
Ivona Kendra was working perfectly on my phone but I reset it to try to get another app to work. Then I restored a backup and got all my apps back, but Kendra no longer works. I don't know if this is due to the restored backup or if something else changed. I have the Kendra .apk file, the Ivona TTS apk and the .obb files, but no matter what I have tried, I can't get the voice to read in the proper Kendra voice. When I choose the Kendra voice, it uses the UK Amy voice instead. UK Amy is still available through Ivona.
I would really like to get this voice back. Since it worked before, I am hoping that there is a way to get it to work again. I am using a HTC M8. I also have a Samsung S5 and the voice is still working as it used to on the S5, but it was always a bit buggy on the s5.
What did you end up doing? Aptoide is where I got ivona Kendra but even titanium backup is giving me please update to New version Everytime. So, I am buying new voices from cereproc maybe Acapella will till I find one. This sucks. It worked on oxygen os 7.1.2 but not on lineage 14.1 OnePlus 3. Stupid reason to revert back but might.

What I found that works is to get the Ivona 1.6 APK. Install it. Then go to the app store and find your apps. Find the Kendra voice you had in the app store and and re- download it. You might have to delete the old Kendra ogg? or rename the folder the original was in. I have done this a couple of times and it has worked.
I can confirm success. I downloaded the APK from
https://www.apk20.com/search/app/?text=ivona+1.6
and installed it. The voice files I already had worked immediately.
For background apparently Ivona is deprecated and replaced by Amazon Polly.

Thanks for that, you are a star, works perfectly
Like many of you I'm using v17 of the pixel dialer on my AT&T GS8+. I really like how it works but so far have not been able to get the visual voicemail app (which I sideloaded from apk mirror) to work. Anyone have that working on AT&T? I think VVM is ok on my account since it seems to work from the built-in dialer

Just installed to test out. I have ATT. Working on my 8+ w/CarHDROM v9.
Has anybody been able to install the Google Phone app?
I've been using it for years on Nexus/Pixel devices and I can't stand the OnePlus app. Especially having a separate voicemail app.
I've tried downloading a bunch of different versions from apkmirror, but none of them will install. They all end with "app not installed".
I'm on a totally stock T-Mobile OP7 pro. I didn't think I'd need to unlock the bootloader or root it just to install a phone app, but I could be wrong.

Tried this?
Hm. I only want the Google dialer if I can get call screening.

Nope, didn't think to search the entire forum. Just searched the OP7 forum, lol. My bad.
Thanks!
Jetfire, apparently there is a way, it's mentioned in the thread. I'm still reading up on it but it looks like it's possible to have everything working except voicemail.
You can install the framework from magisk, and then download and install the latest apk from the web. It works fine (I tried it but like stock better).

Separate voicemail is a Tmobile issue. Verizon for instance has voicemail in the 1+ dialer and it's not even certified for Verizon. The Google Dialer VM doesn't work though. It might if I made it a system app.
