How to compress source code downloaded from github and make executable zip file. - General Topics

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have lenovo a3000 h tablet and I am searching for custom ROM for it.
Only one person around the world has developed custom ROM ie., CyanogenMod cm11 for it and uploaded it to some website but that site currently is not in use I mean it is dead.Fortunately he has uploaded source code to git hub. I have searched the ROM zip file in web but not found.
I know that in the open source world if we have source code we can compile it and create software. I have downloaded all source code file's from github.
I am providing the address below
https://github.com/lenovo-a3-dev/android_kernel_lenovo_mt8389?files=1.
Can any one of you suggest a way how to create a ROM zip file so that I can flash using custom recovery like cwm or twrp.
I know that the task is complex but suggestions from all are helpful.
Regards,
Rupesh.

Your best bet is to post this question within one of the following thread Guides that's Github specific.

Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.

I think that it is impossible to create a ROM from source code as it needs lot of theories and also 150 GB of hard disk space.
I came to above decision because I have read in some website.

Cyanogen 9 source to P6200L

Hi,
Nowadays I'm going to do some work in firmwares and I've looked for the full P6200L source tree in a lot of places, but I had no success.
In this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576553&page=1) I saw a huge and great discussion regarding port cyanogen 6 to the devices P6200 like. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post comments directly there.
Can some one point to me where can I find the latest source code that @aorth is using to generate those builds?

Open Source Code-LENOVO PHONES

Hello everyone,
I've heard people saying it was not possible to develop ROMs for Lenovo phones due to lack of source code.
Today while visiting the support site I see that Source code for several phones like P700i(MTK6577),S660(MTK 6582m),A7-30 Tablet(MT8382 ) are present at the lenovo website.
LINK:http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en
Just enter the name of your phone model in the search bar to check if source code is available.
Hope to see some ROMs coming soon.:good:

[Q] Can I upload the nexus binaries to github for my rom?

Hey there!
I started a new project for a new ROM based on AOSP with some friends and wanted to know if I am allowed to upload the vendor binaries from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers?hl=de#hammerheadktu84q to my github for including it in the build?:silly:
CouldnĀ“t find an answer in the license myself but I saw that it has been uploaded already in some git repos.
Thanks for your help again!
yes
Why wouldn't you be able to?

Custom ROM sources require that the stock source code be made available to the public by the manufacturer/carrier of the device. If the stock source code for a specific device has not been made available to the public, developers can not create custom ROM source code for that specific device. Developers use the stock source code to create the custom ROM source code and then ROMs are built using the custom source they created. I think that is the answer you were really looking for. You want to know how the source code itself that the ROMs are built from is created. You aren't asking about the fruit that comes from the tree, you are asking where the tree that bears the fruit comes from. Am I right?
The only way to get custom ROMs on devices that do not have stock source code made available is to port custom ROMs from a similar device with the same architecture that does have available source code and custom ROMs made for it.

I answered the question. If you specifically want to know how developers convert stock source code into custom ROM source code, you probably will not find that answer here. Most of the people here work with the stuff that the LineageOS team creates from stock source code after the custom ROM source code has been created, they are not part of the process involved in creating the custom source code. It is like being a construction worker, the construction worker does not create the material that he uses to build a house, someone else creates the materials and then he uses what they created to build a house. Google and the LineageOS team create the material, the developers here use what they created to build the ROMs here.
You should try going to github or the LineageOS website to ask your question.
