[Q] Can I upload the nexus binaries to github for my rom? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
I started a new project for a new ROM based on AOSP with some friends and wanted to know if I am allowed to upload the vendor binaries from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers?hl=de#hammerheadktu84q to my github for including it in the build?:silly:
CouldnĀ“t find an answer in the license myself but I saw that it has been uploaded already in some git repos.
Thanks for your help again!

yes

Why wouldn't you be able to?

How to compile aosp source code for specific devices?

Hi guys, I'm a total noob to android custom roms, so please don't abuse me if I've just asked something very obvious to devs...
Please don't reply giving links to the aosp project, I've already seen them.
Assume I have the system needed to build from the source code.
How do I exactly configure the toolchain for a particular device(say moto g xt1032)?
Do I get configurations with the 9gb download, or do I have to download it separately? And will I be able to successfully compile a working ROM for that device?
I just wanted to know more before diving into my new project.

[Q] Help with building CM12

So I am a newbie in android development. I do root phones and play around with the system but I never cooked any rom yet. Now I am desperate to build cm12 for my pico. I have set up everything as per Galaxyfreak's guide.
Now I am confused with what should I take as sources? Should I use Kirmaniarslan's sources or wait for cm to officially release?
If I take Kirmaniarslan's sources,in the init repo command what should I link to? Local manifesto, device tree or something else?
Any guide would be helpful! Thanks

Building AOSP for my HTC One E8 (M8 Ace)

Hey people!
I was trying to learn how to build AOSP ROMs for my E8, for which HTC has released the kernel source on the HTCDev website.
I feel kind of lost right now.. I have uploaded the kernel source for the device on to GitHub: [LINK] There are two archives within the source archive, where one says "platform" and the other is the kernel source.
Now, I'm syncing the AOSP source as they tell you to in the Sony Developer Portal (from HERE) to my Ubuntu VM (which is a huge download). What do I do next? Will this be enough to build the ROM or will I need other resources as well?
Sorry, I've never really done this before. So, I have some really noobish questions.
Thanks!

Building ROM question

Hi XDA!
I have recently learnt how to compile CyanogenMod from source using CM dev wiki, quite useful BTW.
The question is, how do I replace an app that is built by default (ExactCalculator) with another one (Calculator)? both are on CyanogenMod's git. I have downloaded the sources using the local manifest into its default route and told the device.mk to build it as wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_adding_your_own_app says. What am I doing wrong/not doing?
Thanks guys
No one knows?

How to compress source code downloaded from github and make executable zip file.

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have lenovo a3000 h tablet and I am searching for custom ROM for it.
Only one person around the world has developed custom ROM ie., CyanogenMod cm11 for it and uploaded it to some website but that site currently is not in use I mean it is dead.Fortunately he has uploaded source code to git hub. I have searched the ROM zip file in web but not found.
I know that in the open source world if we have source code we can compile it and create software. I have downloaded all source code file's from github.
I am providing the address below
https://github.com/lenovo-a3-dev/android_kernel_lenovo_mt8389?files=1.
Can any one of you suggest a way how to create a ROM zip file so that I can flash using custom recovery like cwm or twrp.
I know that the task is complex but suggestions from all are helpful.
Regards,
Rupesh.

Your best bet is to post this question within one of the following thread Guides that's Github specific.

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
I think that it is impossible to create a ROM from source code as it needs lot of theories and also 150 GB of hard disk space.
I came to above decision because I have read in some website.
