Anyone get it working? I installed it but couldnt get it to provision Coming from my moment, i now HATE having to call my voicemail. That is so 2009.
Try YouMail or Google Voice. It is much better than the visual voice from sprint.

i've been using "Better You Mail", i've had no issues with it and it works as expected..
Using HulloMail and it's working great. I couldn't take the Sprint/Google integration of Voice myself.

Goolge integration kept stealing my text messages and not delivering them to me for hours. Goolge needs to fix this BS quick, because it sucks taint!

I didn't have that problem. The thing I hated was having to switch between Voice for SMS and regular Messaging app for MMS. I wouldn't mind the integration if Voice handled MMS as well.
I've found that using a third party VVM (HulloMail) app and uninstalling Voice is a great setup, IMO. I also tried Visual Voicemail Plus from the market, but I kept getting two messages for every one left for me. HulloMail is great. The only thing I really miss from Voice is having voice to text sent to me. A lot of the time I'm at a client site and can't listen to messages but can read them.
You have to skip integration when you set up Google Voice.

I also would like a way of getting Sprint's VVM working.
I tried Google Voice for awhile and ending up having serious problems with it.
If there is a way to get Sprint's VVM working, thatd be great!
spoke to Sprint advanced level support today and there was nothing they could do for me.
The way VVM works is that a text message comes in from 9016 that the VVM app picks up and then it goes out to download the voicemail. Without that text message coming in, the app will not know to retrieve any messages.
When I loaded my first cynogen rom on my htc hero, my account wasn't provisioned correctly and they weren't sending the text message anymore. I had called into advance tech support and they reset my voicemail to make it work again.
Now, on my Nexus S, I have the app loaded and it even sent back a text message saying it provisioned correctly. I guess the problem is that sprint knows I have a nexus and because of that, my account is on a different "platform" now. That platform does not utilize the messaging system for VVM and thus the notification does not come to my phone letting the VVM app know there is a voicemail to retrieve.

Thanks for the tip about Youmail. I wish I heard of this earlier. This is by far the best replacement for Sprint VVM. I hate Google Voice where it always shows you your SMS messages.
I tried Better Youmail at first since it seemed to get better market reviews. It was driving my nuts how when you put the phone in airplane mode it keeps telling you how it can't connect and I couldn't find a way to turn that off.
So I tried the regular Youmail and that worked great so I don't get the "can't connect" messages, and I could easily find a way to turn of the additional text and email notifications. There's two versions of regular Youmail on the market. The one I like best is the Youmail EOL (end of life?). The interface is black and simple just like Sprint VVM which I love.
The only thing that isn't perfect it has ads and suggestions to sign up for message transcriptions every time you play your VM. Youmail Pro disables the ads but it's $20 per year, and who knows what it looks like.
Youmail wasn't as nice and reliable as I thought.
I gave Google Voice another try and it no longer shows new SMS messages. I just installed it from market and didn't do any special Sprint integration. Not quite sure what I did or why it was so easy to turn off the SMS integration this time, but I really like it now: SMS on the messaging app, and VVM via Google Voice only, no dual notifications, no SMS going to Google Voice.

Thanks for the tips. After an hour of screwing around with the 2 Nexuses (Nexi???) in my house, sending dummy texts and VM's back and forth, I finally got it straightened out.
For those starting from scratch on a new phone:
1) If you have a VM notification on your taskbar, log into sprint voicemail once the old fashioned way, or else the notification will never go away. once it does go away...
2) Install updates to google voice from market
3) Launch GV, skip the integration step (or else SMS will be hijacked), set all the minimalist (my term) options in GV... don't let it make calls, etc... ONLY use it for VM's (I had to call a special *28 number for config but it might be because my GV #is different from sprint#... although in the end that is transparent to people calling my sprint # which was my goal).
4) In GV settings in your phone, turn on taskbar notification, but turn off SMS notification. In GV settings on PC at google.com/voice, turn off SMS notification AND email notification... but leave on transcripts (my preference... this is one place where GV is superior to sprint VVM... getting transcripts is pretty damn cool!)
When all is said and done, it seems to be mostly equivalent to old Sprint VVM, actually slightly better with the addition of transcripts as said above. My SMS works 100% normal. I don't have a lot of real world use yet, but from my tests the GV for voicemails only seems like it will work great.
Curious if anybody has figured out how to get stock visual voicemail working on Nexus S 4G. I'm hoping so!!

According to Sprint it is not possible to provision the Nexus S 4G to the Sprint Visual Voicemail system. Choices are GV and regular voicemail.

By "stock," you actually mean "Sprint," which isn't really stock in the sense of Google stock or Android stock.
Give GV a chance, you will see it has everything the Sprint app had and more.
Oh, no, I actually like GV myself. The only problem is I'm having an issue missing phone calls with my NS4G, and I'm thinking GV might be to blame.

That sucks. Hasn't happened to me yet.
Ironically it DID happen from time to time on my old Moment, which DID use the Sprint VVM.
Since I haven't been able to get my Google Voice set up with this device for some reason, I decided to set up visual voicemail through AT&T's "Messages" app. I had called 611 to figure out why GV wasn't working and the rep pointed me to this app. So far, it seems to work fine EXCEPT it also grabs my text messages and missed calls.
I'd rather not have two notification for every missed call (yes, it pops something in the notification bar for missed calls, as does the standard phone app). At this point, I don't even care which one is going to track them, I just want to turn one of their notifications off! Has anyone figured out a way to do that? Or, alternately, is there another way to access my AT&T visual voicemail without their messages app?

You can set-up google voice here is how to do it.
Go on to google.com/voice and go into settings.
Click activate your phone, and follow the instructions (it will tell you to type in a code on the Dialer).
Then, install the google voice app, and run through the set-up, you will fail on the configuring voicemail steps but thats okay.
Call 611 (ATT Technical support) and have them manually change your voice-mail number to your google voice number.
Done. Enjoy google voice as voicemail. The app will work as intended.

I have Google voice only to be voicemail; I don't currently use it for any calls. It looks like my Voice call-in number is a generic voicemail call-in number (although tbh I haven't tried calling that number to see what happens). Is that the number that I'd give AT&T?
Yes you give them your Google Voice number (you had to set one up when you got google voice)
If you go to https://www.google.com/voice#phones
You should see listed your google voice number, and your phone that you need to activate.

I tried this, and now cannot receive any calls. I think that the number that's shown there is a generic voicemail only mail. Going to try setting up a google voice number and do it again.
Edit to add: OK, I set myself up with a brand spanking new google voice number, had to monkey around on my phone a bit in "call" settings in the settings menu to fix my call forwarding. I repeated the steps, but didn't have to call AT&T again and everything is working goodly now.
I had sprint before I got my One X. Google Voice was set up just fine on that phone, but I want to have it on my One X now.
When I go to www.google.com/voice#phones I see my phone number but the carrier is listed as Sprint. Should I just change it to AT&T? Then run through the app setup? Not sure what to do here...

It's the Visual Voicemail app that other android LTE phones use (Vivid, Skyrocket).
Caveat: Since you added att messages, you will need to uninstall it first, and then call AT&T and ask them to revert you to basic voicemail. When you call your voicemail, you notice the voice prompts have changed from before, yes? That switched you to a different VM system incompatible with the old VVM app.
When I called, they switched me to LTE without VVM - i was able to just change from my online account back to regular LTE (with vvm) and install the app and voicemail was all setup and I was ready to go. I'm not sure if asking them to switch you to "old" vvm would work, their system might only show that you have VVM already.
This aforementioned app does voicemails only.
I noticed I hadn't gotten any Google Voice/Hangout notifications of voice mails. I reset my Google Voice (deactivated/reactivated) to no avail. However, once I deactivated Advanced Calling (Settings...Wireless and Networks), and reset Google Voice, it's working again. Anyone else experience similar/same?
Yeah, I did a search and saw others with Verizon phones and advanced calling that were having this issue. It looks like if you have advanced calling, you can't use google voice.
Don't know if there is any solution yet.

I've had no problems with Google Voice and Hangouts, both with VoLTE enabled and disabled, and on my S6 and G3. I don't use VoIP for calls via Hangouts though, it rings my actual cell number that I have set to forward to with Google Voice.

Well, I must be doing something extremely wrong. I tried again, same result. I have to turn off HD calls, and then reset Google Voice. If anyone has more suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
I'm having no problems with Google voice but having said that I'm using mine on Cricket. Are you using Hangouts for your GV messages? I had nothing but problems getting notifications for GV on it so I switched back to the old GV app.

Yeah, I'm using Hangouts now without issue. I did install Google Voice, because I think that's still required for everything to wire up right. I just turned off the HD calling all together. Not worth my while, at least for now.
So, I tried some of the fixes suggested on this forum and they haven't taken yet. Disabling HD Voice works but causes other problems I'll describe below. With HD Voice active, I tried uninstalling GVoice app and removing my number altogether, then adding it all back again as if for the first time. That did not work. I tried twice. All voicemail still gets routed into my Verizon voicemail.
Spent a good hour on the phone with Verizon customer support and elevated to L2 technician. TLDR: There appears to be a conflict based on how Verizon has chosen to employ the HD Voice function. Right now, I'm forced to either have Google Voice active on my mobile phone OR retain the ability to use data and voice at the same time, but I can't have both.
I just activated my Verizon 64GB Samsung Galaxy S6 two days ago. Today, I noticed I had a Verizon voicemail message for the first time in years. I have been using Google Voice(mail) for as long as I can remember. Concerned why voicemail was skipping my GVoice, I soon discovered that others had noted that turning off the HD Voice option fixed the problem. Sure enough, it did. I thought I was good to go.
Until, the next time I made a call, I noted that my 4G immediately turned into a greyed out 1x and any attempt to use other functions of my phone while on the call were met with a warning that said I can't make calls and use data services at the same time. That was news to me, since that has never been an issue before. Surely my GS6 is not less capable than the GS3 it just replaced in this area.
This took me to Verizon customer support, which to its credit, hung in with me the entire way in troubleshooting this. We confirmed the relationship between GVoice and their Advanced Calling service (HD Voice). And we confirmed that by turning the service back on, my ability to use data while on a call would be restored. We could not determine anything in Verizon's playbook that would allow the two to co-exist. The L2 engineer confirmed that Verizon designed its build so that the only way Data and Voice could flow simultaneously is with HD Voice activated and selected. Verizon customer service was left to advise me to choose between GVoice or dual Voice/Data based on which was more important, and maybe Google will update Google Voice in the future to fix the problem. I found that last part somewhat funny, since I don't think this is Google's problem to fix since this appears to be a Verizon specific problem and I have never had a phone that hasn't worked perfectly with GVoice. Oh, and it's not like Google is pushing out patches to Voice with any intentionality either.
I joined the forums specifically to post this in the hope it helps someone else and sparks other ideas how to beat this. This appears to be a recently discovered phenomenon. Also, since the GS6 is still relatively new, maybe this will help to raise awareness and provoke a patch. Who knows.
Anyone encounter other ideas for getting Voice to regain prime position again?

Finally got this to work by ensuring to clear app data before uninstalling an making sure not to prematurely hang up on Google voice as it reinstated the call forwarding on my new mobile phone. With this fixed e now have a work-around for using Google voice while still maintaining advanced calling features.

I can confirm this process works. I turned on HD calling. In Application Management, I cleared cache and data on the Google Voice app, then uninstalled it. I then went to my computer and deactivated Google Voice mail. I then reinstalled Google Voice on my phone, and stepped through the configuration (Verizon doesn't support it directly, so you'll see that boogie-woogie - just take the defaults and move through it). I then went back to the PC and enabled Google Voice, and let the lady finish and hang up on me. Subsequent tests confirmed that I have Google Voice mail now, while HD calling is active.

I only have hangouts installed, I don't use the Google Voice app anymore. After I enabled advanced calling, apparently my VM forwarding also stopped.
All I had to do to fix it was re-enable the call fowarding options, and I'm back in business.

The key to the whole thing is to let the call forwarding calls fully finish and hang up on you. If you hang up, they won't complete.
Didn't have to do anything on my S6 besides going through the prompts again and letting them finish. The whole uninstall/reinstall thing may be overkill.

Still not working....
Unfortunately I still can't get it working on my s6. It works if a person calls my "google voice" number. However, if they call my "verizon" phone number it just will not go to voicemail...it rings and rings. Call forwarding is on, i've done all the steps. Any one else having this problem?

I wonder why it worked so easily for you.
I've tried letting it hang up on me for all 3 numbers (*71, *90, *92), but it seems to refuse to work. I'll have to try the uninstall/reinstall stuff later and see if that triggers it for me.

Now I can't get google voice to work even with advanced calling disabled. I have it entirely set to off in settings, called all 3 numbers to setup the forward (and let them hangup on me), yet when I call my number, I get a Verizon message about needing to enter the phone number of the mailbox you're trying to leave a voicemail for...
I have the Pixel XL 2 and have been trying to get the visual voicemail feature to work ever since I received it in October, but each time I try I get the message "Cant activate visual voicemail. You can still call to check voicemail. TRY AGAIN or CALL VOICEMAIL".
I called T-Mobile and they did everything they could on their end but the feature baked into the phone still wont work. I tried to reset the network and that didn't fix it. I tried to download the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail and it wouldnt work either -- it would open and show all my old voicemails from 2 years ago, but it just wouldn't sync. I spoke with T-Mobile tech support and the guy suggested I put the sim in my old phone to rule out that the Pixel was the problem. I switched the sim from my Pixel and put it in my old Galaxy S7 Edge and the T-Mobile app still didn't work. I would get an error stating "Failed to synchronize voicemails. Please make sure that you have connection to the data network." So I updated everything on the old phone and it still wouldnt work, so I switced the same back in the Pixel. After I switched the sim I deleted and downloaded the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app again and it finally synced, but I dont want to use the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app, I want to use the stock version baked into the OS. It still wont work...

This is so frustrating.
Strange - I have a T-Mobile sim in my Pixel 2 and the voicemail works flawlessly. I had a similar setup as you where I came from an old phone that required the T-Mobile visual voicemail app, but now the Google Dialer app has it built in and didn't require any setup to get working. Voicemails appear within 30 seconds after leaving a message.
I'm not sure why this is a problem... Im beginning to think its something on the T-Mobile network or possibly a bad sim card...
One interesting fact is that the baked in VVM somehow switched itself off during all of this and when I switched it back on it still wouldnt work, but thats when the T-Mobile VVM started working... Its the strangest thing... so, disabling the baked in VVM kills the T-Mobile app and enabling it allows the T-Mobile VVM to work. No matter what I do, the Google Dialer app wont kick in.... I need suggestions that dont require a Factory reset. Perhaps the app transfer process when I set up my phone has something to do with the issue... idk
Got it sorted.
Turns out the initial setup of my Pixel caused the issue. I opted to port over all of my apps from my S7 Edge and transferred a few Samsung apps that may have compromised the VVM. Out of frustration/desperation, I did a factory reset and as soon as the phone started up Google Dialer's VVM was working, so I added all my apps back to the phone from Googles most recent backup, which included T-Mobiles VVM and something killed it again. So I did another factory reset and this time I reviewed each and every app to install from the backup and found quite a few Samsung apps, so I omitted them along with T-Mobiles VVM app and now all is well. Im leary on attempting to install the T-Mobile VVM again, but I do miss the VM's being transcribed from voice to text....
Any recommendations on a good app that can convert VM's to text?
The transcription service from T-Mobile costs about $4/mo. So unless you were paying for it, you were only getting the 30 day trial for free. If you use any other app, you'll lose the VVM integration in the phone dialer.

Yeah, I recently added the $4/mo service thinking that the reason why VVM didnt work was because I needed to pay... I took it off, so I guess I'll just keep the stock VVM.

While the TM VVM app was installed, the built-in dialer VVM didn't exist. It just wasn't there.
I deleted (tried this twice) and a few hours later the built-in Google Phone app dialer VVM was there. But, it wasn't transcribing, just showing and playing the voice mails. Then, it started transcribing them. Then, a few days later it stopped.
After trying both, I like the TM VVM better. It's bigger, and you can sort them.
But, neither of them are working now.

OK, wait a minute...
It appears Google put a setting in to enable transcripiton and it's turned off by default. Lets turn it on and try again.
So, to clarify....
The Google VVM setting doesn't appear unless you delete the T-Mobile VVM app.
Then, it takes a few hours up to a day to show up in the Phone app settings.
Previously it would just transcribe.
After it stopped trascribing it appeared that Google added a setting to enable transcription.
Voicemail transcription
Get transcripts of your voicemail using Google's transcription service. (Learn More).
Then, when I enabled that, another setting appeared
Voicemail transcription analysis
Let Google review your voicemail messages to improve transcription accuracy. Your voicmail messages are stored anonymously. (Learn more)

The free and easy way to get transcribed VVM is to setup Google voice, then use the dialer codes for TMo to forward your calls to your voice number. Unlimited VMs, and you can check them from any device or PC that GV is installed on. And, free is always good
I had to uninstall the non-native visual voicemail app I downloaded and clear the cache of the phone app to get the option to appear in settings. It kept some of my voicemails too which was unexpected.
My issue seems to come back after every security update... I'm back to square one and it seems that the only resolution is to factory reset my phone and then it starts working again until the next update... ugh!
This is the best Android phone I've ever owned, but the user experience to date has been the most frustrating. The ability to make and receive phone calls as well as voicemails is the backbone of any phone... why the heck is this so difficult!?! I swear I have a defective phone or a faulty sim card, because I cant understand why I don't receive my voicemails!
so...to remind everyone I also have a Pixel 2 XL. I was also having the problem of t-Mobile VVM not synching. I finally got it to work.
First, if you have st-Mobile VVM fon your phone, even if not turned on, it will cause the VVM in Googles built dialer to disappear.
I noticed at the same time that I signed up for the Android P Beta, that a new version of T-Mobiles VVM appeared on Google Play. So, first, give the new version a try. I did that update at the same time I switched to Android P Beta, so I don't 'know which helped.
First, clear the cash and data for the old T-Mobile VMM, then uninstall it.
Also, I have found that certain combo's of plans with T-Mobile are not compatible with VM to text. I found that the newer VMM worked, but the feature you have to pay for to convert to text to read it wasn't compatible with my plan. This was per the T-Mobile CSR's. I could listen to VMM, but not read it.
The built-in Google VMM would transcribe to text, but, it didn't seem as robust. Many times it would say it couldn't transcribe. Also, the T-Mobile VMM has more features...easier to delete, you can sort by date, number, etc. You can delete multiples at one time etc.
So, I like T-Mobile VMM better, but since it can't transcribe to text for me, I went back to Google built in one.

I switched over from AT&T to T-Mobile and couldn't get VVM to work so I installed the T-Mobile VVM app and then set it up. Once it was setup I did exactly as you described - uninstalled the T-Mobile VVM app then went and cleared cache on the native phone app and finally the VVM setting showed up in the phone app settings. Turned it on and it works perfectly, thanks!

Coming from a OP5T, using the Google Dialer with T-Mobile here in the US, my visual voice mail (VVM) worked as expected. However, on the OP6, I can not enable VVM. When I go to Settings -> Voicemail there is not option to turn VVM on/off as there is on my OP5T. Anyone else seeing this issue our know how to fix it? I can put SIM back in the OP5T and VVM will work on it....
I'm wondering if you're actually using the Google Dialer, because that's not what comes on the phone. I'm using the modded Google Dialer on T-Mobile and visual voicemail is working fine for me. I didn't have to change any settings other than change the default phone app to the modded Google Dialer.

I was using the Google Dialer from Magisk. Mind to point me to where you got your modded Google Dialer?

Can you check your settings on your Google Dialer? When I go to settings -> voicemail, I do not have an option to enable visual voicemail. see attached image.
My settings look like yours.
I'm not too familiar with VVM, but I assume you just mean the tab for voicemails with the play/pause/delete buttons for each voicemail? If so, that's working for me. If it's something more, then I'm not sure. My voicemail is empty right now so I can't show you what it looks like, but I had a few voicemails earlier and I deleted them from that tab. I can't send myself a test message until tomorrow when I have access to a second phone.

Yeah, I am the one who originally made the Magisk version so it would work with OnePlus devices.... It's odd, my will not retrieve voicemails from T-Mobile but my OP5T would do just fine. For now, I just reverted to the google voice method and that is working. Odd.

So after testing today I'm leaving myself a few voicemails, neither the modded version of the dialer or the Magisk version seem to be showing the voicemails. I guess I might have seen them in the OnePlus dialer and that's where I deleted them. I can't be one hundred percent sure.
For now, I am just using the T-Mobile visual voicemail app.

Yeah, that is exactly what I see. It works on stock app, but not Google Dialer. I am using the Google Voice method, and it does the trick for now.

Sorry, not to change subject, but the Magisk version of the Google Dialer support the Spam call detection? Figured I'd ask since both of you seem to be running that version.
I was using the modded Google dialer as well on my OP6 and had no Visual Voicemail option, only with the stock dialer do I have any VVM option.

Is that the same thing I am doing -- I have Verizon set to NOT send my missed calls to voicemail, but to forward it to my Google Voice number. Then my Google Voice is set to immediate Do Not Disturb and goes to voicemail.
I did that because Verizon's stupid free voicemail doesn't transcribe the whole thing and they make you pay to have more than 20 voicemails in queue.
