EDIT! EDIT!
Just install OnePLus5 camera apk form this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72849853&postcount=40
No more sharpen edges
After several tests i figureout that HTC apk.... don't take any better photo =) In my samples on HTC cam apk HDR was turned on... and on the stock one OFF.
SO... If you want less sharpened pictures in AUTO mode just turn on HDR. on your stock s7 cam-app =)
Hello to all!
I love S7 and his camera... but... over-sharpening is big prob. for auto mode.
I found in this thread HTC camera that has less sharpening than stock one.
App is rudimental no fancy working options but for point & shot is working like boss!
APK link
And here are examples.. check the edges of the buildings.
I would like to see your tests... my camera is ISOCELL.

You could try shooting in pro mode. I found this post on reddit with settings/profiles to make it less sharp looking so maybe you will like this as much as i do. (click)

Nice!
I tested for couple of days... and i can say that shared HTC camera gives better results even in stock PRO mode. (in term of sharpening edges etc)
For all users that find AUTO shots over-sharpened - just try this cam
Update 1st post...
dont experience this issue at all with the S7 flat sony sensor
Uhh, the HTC cam just took a darker photo so the halo around building edges was less obvious. Look at the other details. Sharpening is the same. Shoot Pro mode + RAW if you don't want any post-processing.
Turning on HDR is no solution for the over sharpening. It's a totally different kind of thing.
HDR can help in some situations (mostly those with dark and light in one frame), but on many situations I recommend not using HDR , especially indoors.
Also when you turn on HDR lots of people have this pinkspot problem so on the samsung sensor so HDR isn't that good.

In PRo mode you still have sharpening on edges but less... RAW is oK.
can someone test if the galaxy s7 still have over-sharpening problem after installing nougat?

is there another app for video , With less sharpened video ?
Yes, luckily there is - called "Cinema 4K". Unfortunately, it doesn't support 3840x2160 for "4K" in conjunction with the S7 but the rather obscure resolution of 3264x2448 instead.
Biggest advance is the possibility to completely turn off any sharpening or noise reduction so one gets a way more "filmic" result.
If you want very nice and sharp photos than you have to install "Bacon Camera" for your Samsung. We hope that someone can do a mod like Google Pixel Quality.
What does bacon camera do that is better than stock? Stock app is good all around but low lighting, it tends to tint red
The photos are sharper and have less noise. The tint problem will be fixed with an update I think
The only reason Gcam is better than Samsung's is because Google uses machine learning and it's massive database for that, I don't think this camera has these at its disposal.
Edit: This app doesn't support camera2 API, meaning you actually have very little control of what the hardware can do and all changes are software edited.
You can also try Footej Camera
Samsung pro mode is better than most of the copy cat apps in the play store. The only thing that works better is the gcam mod for front facing selfie portraits because of the machine learning blur.
The stock app, and the gcam, are the only camera apps you need.
But gcam is Not Working at this moment for s9+

I really want the Drama Photo effect from my Galaxy S4. Any idea where I can find this or an app that is like it. This effect will take 4 to 7 shots of a moving subject, and then stitch it together to show the movement of someone. thanks
I don't know any app that give you this. But for me personally I tried yesterday some versions of the gcam mod. Only one version is working a little bit. But picture quality is amazing. I hope someone do a full working mod for our dual camera than you have a Google Pixel camera with Samsung hardware.

It does, but most company besides Google have white balance issue.
Gcam doesnt do low light from what I see. Stock does very well in low light
Is really google camera that good compared to stock samsung camera?
Low-light photo quality sorta depends on the situation. If taking photos outside in low lighting, if you can keep your hands PERFECTLY still, the results can look better than the Pixel 2, but if we're talking consistency, I'd choose the Pixel 9 times out of 10. If taking photos inside in low lighting, especially when the subject is people or food, the quality comes out super soft. Some people like it, but it looks terrible to me. In these situations, I'd choose the Pixel 2 every single time, as it's consistent.
@jassu what app do you mean?
guys, i was wondering bout the camera implementation. how does oneplus use its 2 cameras?? what's the use of the second camera?

20mp camera just for bokeh??? couldn't op use a 5mp sensor similar to that of redmi note 5 pro's if it is only for depth sensing?
The secondary camera doesn't have a special function like the high framerate recording or telephoto lens like a lot of phones do, it simply adds detail to photos, and I believe Linus Tech Tips or someone similar to him said it helps with the portrait mode blurring too.

Do you also have this problem?
One more sample
Its complete darkness, what do you expect? Software is trying to compensate lack of lighting and thats the result
It's normal when there's almost no light. (that effect is caused by very high ISO value activated by camera sensor in order to capture much light as possible, but it also causes a lot of noise to appear)
Any budget phone struggles in camera department in low light conditions. You can't pretend more.

Thank you mate for enlightening me. . . . But it just so happened that i have a friend who also has a note 5 ai and his phone camera does not have that severe reddish noise. His on stock MiUI ROM while I use masik (tried almost every other custom ROM there is . . . . Could this issue be related to Camera2 API?

Of course. Masik uses heavily modified stock camera, its normal that results come out different than stock. But generally it is normal for smartphones to have this tint in really low lighting. Especially low/mid range. Its not a bug and not a problem, more like hardware/software limitation. Probably using GCAM build would give better results, but its not as stable as stock
In very low light, the iso will rise up to 9600, that makes much noise. But the pink, it's causing by black level, you can try front camera hdr+ fix, that patch also fix pink

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Mi 9 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Yeah a bit of noise on that one. Just default settings/auto, with HDR I think on that one. Gcam port should really unlock the potential of this hardware.
I am really liking the cam so far though...

Curious to see it, as the people on the bench (lower left) look soft on the focus ....
I made a comparison between Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/ecGsAyjPUKVQ7adX9
I'll gradually add more photos.
See the watermark to differentiate the phones.
Images without watermark were captured with the Google Pixel Port (in the dark with Nightsight)
Images were captured via point and shoot, both "AI" Features are enabled. Google Pixel with HDR+
Mate 20 superior in dark but that's no surprise. Solid cam on Mi9 nevertheless.
Im not very satisfied with the camera quality. It seems like that the mi9 is doing worse compared to what I was used from my Galaxy S7 or even with my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s. Here a few pictures from yesterday. At some point the software seems to do to much magic and kills the quality. Plus, the software seems to be unstable and the camera crashed two times while taking pictures and was not able to connect again to the camera -> reboot / kill camera app and start it again.
All done with HDR Auto and AI on.

HDR was set to "Auto" and AI was "On". No (other) filtering was used and yes, this oil painting wheen zooming in is insane. I really hope that this is just a bug and Xiomi will fix it soon, since even the Mi Mix 2s have not had that bad image quality.

But agree - shouldn't need to turn off a feature that other manufactures dont have issues with ...

Is there any possibility to shoot RAW (DNG) photos from stock camera apk? Can anybody post RAW photo from every MI9 sensor? (especialy from 48mp)
why mi9 uses very high iso in low light?
for example when other phones settings is about 1/17sec and iso 2000, mi9 setting is about 1/14 and iso +7000 !
even redmi note 7 iso is much lower.

Interesting I thought that Mi9 is increasing iso to achive lower exposure time beacuse of lack of OIS, but dunno why other phones has the same time and lower iso while having the same aperture (about f/1.7) maybe Mi9's f/1.75 is fake?
Did you compare same light conditions photos?
PS Could someone post RAW from Mi9?
