hello,
i have a problem with MI4. I have forgotten pattern lock code .
When i turn on phone in TWRP mode to reset factory settings, i discovered possibility of backup data, system, etc.
i connect flash drive by OTG cable, and successfully done it.
I made factory settings reset, open TWRP again, and want to bring copy back, but when I choose pendrive, phone not see any files to bring them back
Do you know maybe a reason? How to fix it?
Is there any specific folder path in which files should be?
Ps. There is also strange things. When I choose file manager and sdcard there are all my files before reset. Don`t understand it at all.
How can I move them, for example, to flash drive?

Hi all,
I'm here with a pretty annoying problem, my Touch Cruise is blocked on the boot screen (the one where we can see the different ROM versions).
I was planning a hard reset, but didn't had the time to make a backup of the data on it. (To be more precise, I had the time to backup the SMS in "my documents" folder, but it stalled when I wanted to copy the backup to the sd...)
Is there any way to copy files from internal memory to SD card, before doing the hard reset ?
I will be forever grateful to anyone who will be able to help me to get my files back
Hi,
I also have this proble. If I want make hard reset of the phone. The phone nothing do.
Sorry for my english
i have same problem but i dont care about data, i have backup.
i put http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554071 that rom, all was ok, then i start restoring my contacts, msgs from backup and then device reset itself and i have info :
the device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrasted source . press send to reset your device or press any other button to cancel. this operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to its factory defaults
hard reset is not doing anything
what i can do now?

Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to the storage card... if you want to hard reset the device follow the procedure as below : To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the GPS/MESSAGING and INTERNET EXPLORER buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device.
2. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the GPS/MESSAGING and INTERNET EXPLORER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
HTC Touch Cruise Polaris Hard reset Soft reset
Release the buttons, and then press SEND on your device to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
Sorry for the delay, I wasn't following this thread..
Using Active Sync wasn't an option, as the phone didn't even boot... I finally choosed the hard reset..
So I have kind of a noob question.... after factory reset and install a new ROM using CWM there are still tons of old files both on my internal storage and on my SD? Is it safe to just erase them all (the ones I see when I plug the device in via the USB as a drive)?
I want to clean all this crap out of my storage but I am afraid I am going to mess something up. THanks!
Mebby make a backup of what you have now, after that is complete, reboot and then do your file deletions-
You mentioned they are old files, if true, should not have adverse effect on your current setup if you delete them.
When in doubt, prolly best to leave it .
I've used titanium backup for a certain time. Today i decided to test widget action called "freeze all user & system apps. Now I cant find a way to redo this. Of course, the tablet normally boots on fastboot. I need a way to backup the data and do a factory mode reset, but how? The computer wont recognize the tablet anymore. Is that any way to acess the files without the usb mount custom recovey option? Thx
i pleasant day to all. i'm new to this forum and i'm a noob as well. i got a problem with my android phone. i took out the SD card to transfer data faster but by the time i inserted it back, the phone undergoes boot-loop process. i reboot the phone several times, take out the battery and waited for few minutes but no success, so i followed the procedure online to back up the users data by pressing the volume up and power button. it provides an option to save data in SD card with an extension of .backup. i cleared and reset phone to factory default and be able to gain access my phone. the problem is, i tried to restore data from the back file but as soon as i restored it it undergoes boot-loop process again. i just need my contacts and important messages. my questions are:
1. ) Is there a way to extract contacts and messages from userdata.backup file by copying the file in computer ?
2.) If its possible to extract, what software i need to use to extract it?
3.) Is there a way to enable usb debugging in the phone using a computer through a data cable?
hoping for your generous reply and thanks in advance.
I reset my phone so I can start anew (I do it on a whim sometimes). It did delete apps/accounts that I had installed and signed into. However, I noticed the regular factory reset option didn't delete the entirety of my personal data as I can still find folders associated with my old apps, with data in them of course. For example, I had Zedge installed and I can still find my download wallpapers in the Zedge folder.
Is there a way to fully delete personal data? Must I go into recovery or use the software repair option in the PC suite?

Repair and delete data with PC Companion or Flashtool FTF
PC Companion is your best option if you are not familiar with Flashtool

Make sure you clear the internal storage when you reset the phone
Thanks for the suggestions. I went back into the reset menu and noticed I didn't check the format device storage option. I'll keep that in mind as I still have loose files hanging about....
