3 years ago it was not possible i think, but maybe something was changed?
I got a lot of photos on my phone and everytime i'm moving them to SD card, Google Photos thinks that it need to be restored from the disk and in a moment I have them twice everywhere - on SD card and on phone memory. Confusing, don't You think? Every time i got my phone memory full of photos, even if my card is still empty (or also if i will have card full with duplicates).
Heres more - i need an high quality of theese photos, so i can't participate in Google Compression Program, or whatever gives me unlimited storage space, with lower quality. Not cool. But if i only could change the default folder to SD card... Maybe something bit more complicated, like with rooting and changing advanced setings?
I will be very grateful for any help.

I've looked around but haven't found any way to make my SD card the default storage means for my Plus. I read something on a thread about changing some code magic stuff thingie but can't find that now (of course). Not a complete noob but very, very careful. Maybe a little paranoid. So... anyone know how to designate an SD card as default storage for things like books, downloads, photos, etc?
I'm pretty sure it can't be done - Tab has enough difficulty with write permission to sd card as it is
So my sister has her phone when she does anything this message comes up she getting very pissed off any way on solving this ? she has space and she has a sd card ... whats the deal.

The deal is that we only have 2GB of internal storage, which is where the camera defaults to. This can be filled very easy if one likes to take lots of pictures. There are a lot of ways around this, but the easiest for a non techie is to download a 3rd party camera app and set the storage to the external card. You could also swap mount points or try to symlink it as well.

I have a hard time understanding this, too. Settings>Storage tells me that I have only about 60 MB free in "USB Storage." It also tells me that I have 93 MB of "Pictures, Videos" there. The trouble is, I have no pictures or videos in USB storage. It's all on the external SD card. The camera saves to the external SD card, and all my music, photos, and videos are there, not in internal storage. It even tells me I have 3.4 GB of "Miscellaneous files" in USB storage, which is impossible. That 3.4 GB is actually what's on the external SD at the moment. It tells me that over 1 GB of apps are stored there, even though the apps actually there come to far less---maybe there's app data that's adding to the total.
The only time it becomes a problem is when I run NewsRob, which invariably tells me it doesn't have enough memory to work.

For pics and such, use Google drive, drop box or sky drive. Mine is set to upload over WiFi only. After my pics are up, I delete them from gallery. Also, make sure all music is on external sd . Then go to settings/storage erase SD card. This should clean up any uneccesary files or clutter. Last, move all possible apps to SD and clear all caches. FYI , if on any cm 10 variants don't clear the caches to fast or the phone will freeze for 20-40 secs. That is all

Well, I made an interesting discovery last night. I found that, even though I had set the PodKicker app to store podcasts on the external SD card, it had somehow reverted to internal USB memory, and had dumped a bunch of large files in there.
I also found that my Kindle app had deposited a bunch of files in internal USB memory. There's no way to tell Kindle to put them on the external card, but I supposedly only had a few books residing there. An examination of the kindle cache, however, disclosed almost two hundred, taking up a big chunk of memory. I deleted the whole directory, started Kindle, and let it re-download the few that I need. I think somewhere along the line I had to re-register the Kindle app, and it just left a bunch of old files there that it couldn't use anymore.
Between these two purges I freed up about 150 MB of internal USB storage.
150mb isn't much and will be eaten quickly.
a lot of apps install to the internal but load a bunch more on the external.
Camera ICS + is a good camera replacement that can save directly to the external SD.
Also, run ES File Explorer and use it's SD card analysis to see what is taking up space. I know that if you have your google photos synced, even just the thumbnails database file will be up to 1gb.
Move any Titanium or CWM backups to the external SD, but make sure you remember where they are when you go around deleting things.
I also found a trash can folder that was huge so I'm pretty sure that the internal SD card isn't fully freeing up memory when you delete things.
Also go to your App Manager and see which things are taking up a lot of space. I know that Google+, Gmail, Chrome, Facebook, Grooveshark and a few others take up a lot of space.

i have a problem with my Samsung S Advance with JellyMOD 4.0 and cocore kernel 6.0.
last day i lost all my camera photo, i don't know how, why...
fortunally i restore my camera photos with diskdigger. ( i use a lot of times the stock camera )
now my question is:
1) can i save my camera photos in phone memory and sd card memory in the same time? like a raid.
so when i get a new photo, this photo will be stored in 2 different place and the risk to lost all one more time is zero.
2) i tried also to select external micro sd in stock camera but in option or settings in camera, i can select only internal memory phone, i don't understand why, i tried to formatted micro sd, wipe cache, wipe dalvik without success, but in settings and memory i can see my micro sd empty and with a file manager i can explorer my sd, put files etc, so it works... strange
i hope that someone can help me, i won't use apps lik dropbox that store my personal photos in internet, i take care about my privacy.

I suggest you create a backup of your pictures you take using your phone camera on your computer in case this happens again. Your camera photos should be located in the default DCIM folder. I understand how weary you are of using Dropbox, but I've found the service to be very safe for remotely storing your data. Currently, I'm using Google Drive to back up my things.
I recommend you give it a try.

Search around, and I have yet to find the answer. Sorry if this is a normal titanium thing, but this is the first time I use it, and, again, for the life of me I can't find something explaining this - not even TB's FAQ.
So I just used it since I had my S3 replaced under warranty. I backed all my apps to an SD card, and when I went to restore them I noticed that the bigger apps got placed on the SD card by default. I didn't want them there, so, no problem, I put the titanium backup folder contents on the device/emulated storage and took the SD card out. I then uninstalled/reinstalled these apps, but thing is, no matter how many times I do this, it says the contents of these apps are mostly on my SD card in the system's Application Manager.
Obviously, this cannot be the case since the SD card is no longer physically in the phone, but I'm very curious and it does bug me a tiny bit - the not knowing/understanding. According to titanium, however, it does say the apps are on the phone itself (it displays the phone icon for the app instead of the SD icon). But yeah, in the Application Manager list, apps like Plants vs Zombies 2, which used to be ~350MB on the App Manager list, now show up as only 25.15MB. When I click for the details (App info screen), I'll get something like:
Total.....................381MB
Application...........24.90MB
SD card app..........354MB
Data......................256KB
SD card data..........1.37MB
I am used to seeing something small in the "SD card data" part for all apps regardless though. Like ones I've installed straight from the Play Store. But never on the "SD cardapp" since I never care to have one in my phone. So, is this just some odd feature of restoring with Titanium? In other words, is this usual? I should mention, all my apps work fine though. Like not missing a single beat save that it just says they are somewhere they cannot physically be. Did I perhaps restore them in some unconventional way (I don't think I did; I just followed a great Youtube tutorial on how to use titanium)? Anyone else's apps display like this sans te SD card? that is odd, but if the apps are working fine then i dont see a problem. It might just be a bug with TB itself. Also TB does do some compression to the apps it backs up so that might be why that file you mentioned was so much smaller.
It's probably a quirk of the way Google changed the mount pointers to all storage in 4.3 and above. Now all locations are "emulated" in the Android OS. This doesn't always agree with the way individual apps handle storage. Google doesn't really acknowledge "external" SD cards because the hardware doesn't exist on Google devices such as the Nexus 5, 7 ,10 etc.
Many times a simple problem turns complex....... like now.
I take many photos on my phone, dSLR, GoPro, MavicPro, etc. and always shoot RAW. I do my post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. On my S8+ I discovered LR is not importing the .DNG files. I find out it seems they need to be in the Camera Roll and I configured the stock camera to store them on the SD. I'm using the promo 256GB Samsung SD.
OK. I'll poke around with a file manager. In the rocess I find and try to delete an old folder. It asks for permission to access, I think no problem I've seen this many times before. HOWEVER, I can not grant permission the SD does not appear on the permissions screen!! Then I try a different software and see that the card is defined differently. One software even has it as a USB drive. Another simply calls it "Storage". In any case, I can't do much with it. The system seems to access it just fine in most cases.
I think OK I'll re-format it, dead end. How about merging it with the internal storage to have one huge single place for storage (not my favorite way since I may need to read the SD in a different device in case of a failure), this would solve my Lightroom issue as then I save .DNGs to the internal Camera Roll, nope.
I know I'm rambling.
The questions are:
Can this big SD be merged with the internal storage? Is there a size limit or is that not possible any more?
Anyone else using Lightroom Mobile and shooting RAW? What is your workflow?
