Hi everyone. Hope you well.
(CONTEXT OF MY PROBLEM)
I´ve got a Mate 9 MHA-L29C432 originally. I wanted to upgraded it to B198 from B194. But i got stucked and bootloop. I don´t remember what i did, but my phone was able to boot, the problem was that the firmware said "Test Keys" After a long time i tried to rollback to my original ROM, and i got into bootloop again, but this time was harder to pass through. Finally i got it out of it. Until today i keep on this rom "Test Keys". This time it´s about a more complete rom compare to the previous one, but still being a "Test Keys" (as you can see in the picture, it says "MHA-L09).
(MY IDEAS)
My question is: What should i do to get back on my native ROM? I am a bit scared about what i´ve been through, i and don´t want to have a beautiful brick. I´d also like to have a backup in case i got stucked again, what can i do about it?
I believe that if i do rebrand by HWOTA for L29 and flash the L29C432 ROM would solve this problem, but i am not sure.
And finally, do i download Nougat or Oreo?
Thank you! And sorry if there is any grammatical mistake
hi
have you found a solution to your problem?

Hi guys!
I've just purchased this phone from China, version is L02. I've read in the guides that the build number should end in smth like B3... or B6... ( depending on is it beta or stable version of the ROM). But the phone I've got comes with build number B121SP06 is this ok, or I' ve got a fake phone? Also in "System update" when i start "Online update" it says "no updates found" but the version of EMUI is 2.3?

Hey man, just some request, could you please do a nandroid backup for that ROM before you do something that'll break the warranty? I mean, i brought it 3 months ago and i've unlock the bootloader but then after a few times using different ROMs i found something strange.
The Stock ROM that you are using is EMUI 2.3 and the build number should end like B109 or B120SP01 etc, but the real problem is when you've unlock the bootloader and then install custom ROM which is based on EMUI 2.3 like you have right now, there is a bug, a sound bug check my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/help/sound-problem-emui-2-3-based-roms-t2986576 so please do a nandroid backup and again please upload it to your dropbox or googledrive so that i can download it and restore my phone, please.....please......please
PS: The EMUI 3.0 based ROMs is battery hungry, that's why i wanna go back to EMUI 2.3.
Apologies for starting this really stupid thread. Now that I've read a little bit through the threads I've seen that the number of my stock rom is ok. But I haven't cleared why it isn't offering me EMUI 3.0 through online update, since this is official stable ROM ?
@djangobinladen
I can do what you have asked tomorrow, but isn't this is what you've wanted : Stock ROMS
And since I've already started with stupid questions, is there a guide how to get rid of all chinese applications ?

I'm affraid not my friend, i've tried that several times but it always come out with something like "failed to recover or disaster recovery failed", so if you really don't mind, i really need that CWM/nandroid backup of yours to recover my H60-L02 to its original Stock ROM without sound problem.
About that chinese apps, you gotta have root and then install Titanium Backup, from that you can uninstall anything, yes i mean anything, but be carefull uninstall something that the system needed to boot or core system files that doesn't need to be uninstalled could make your phone brick.
So before you root or unlock your bootloader i recommend to do a factory reset and CWM/nandroid backup, not just that i really need it but for your own insurance if the phone got bricked or the phone doesn't ring at all like mine.
Man, I really wanted to help but I won't do it. Because after a little bit of thinking ( not my stong side, obviously) it came into my mind that by doing this you'll get my phone's IMEI, mac address and so on. Maybe I'm not right or this isn't going to be a problem but I don't want to risk it.
Sorry.

whaaaaaat, there is no way i can get your phone IMEI or mac address cuz the CWM backup will read my phone's hardware not yours, and those two (IMEI and MAC Address) are unique, there can only be one.
Well, i've managed to sold the phone anyway with EMUI 3.0 in it, so i don't need it anymore, but you really need to do that backup thing, well just in case you know, alright thanks anyway man.

Just search for this Build-Number on Google, and then you'll quickly find out!
Hi,
Really sorry to be posting here and bugging people..
Basically i just recieved a near-new mate 7 TL10 2GB/16GB chinese version.
I have unlocked the bootloader + put TWRP recovery on the phone.
I took a full system backup before messing with anything
It came on a fully updated 6.0.0 image from the factory.
I have downloaded the `MT7-TL10_V100R001C00B130_Firmware_Southern_Pacific_Region_Others_Android_4.4.2` file from Huawei as that's apparently the correct one for Australia.
I tried flashing the system.img via fastboot and the system just hangs on boot (does the animation and then just sits on the huawei logo for 30 mins)..
I also tried system.img + cust and had the same result
Im basically looking for any ideas to get this phone off the chinese ROMs ?
Currently I am open to any ideas out there...
Thank you

So a) Thank you
b) Does anyone know why it works when others dont?
PS: Thanks for being an awesome community, I have quited enjoyed the amount of knowledge on this forum as I have been reading it for the last few days
Hi everyone,
been looking around and found a lot of stuff to return to stock ROM and so I don't know what to really do...
here's the situation :
i'm running Kangvip B180 on NXT-L29 and would like to return to stock in order to upgrade to nougat the official way.
TWRP 3.0.2 installed
Bootloader unlocked
Rooted
could someone explain or point me to a good tutorial so I can go back to stock and then upgrade normally please ?
(I know what I need is explained somewhere, but all those posts about bricked devices and different methods to do something are just messing with my head and I don't want to screw up)
Any help appreciated

Hi guys,
I managed to go back to stock.
For those who are like me, here's what got me sweating but was ok
- fastboot flash stock recovery
- previously add an update.app in the dload folder on external SD (B180)
- rebooted with the 3 buttons method
- let it go through the update
- go to settings in order to get the updates available
- it went from B192, to B320 and finally B560
I didn't format anything till being on B560. Things were ****ing slow and crappy while doing the updates so don't worry
once I was on B560, I went down to the parameters and did a factory reset.
everything seems ok now, and I also solved my problem with the Gear S3 I had (not connecting to the mate)
Hope it helps anyone having these sort of problems
hi i am a long time lurker, first time poster and i have been stalking the forums for a while looking for an answer too my problem, but so far i think i may be the only one to pull this **** up
i was unlocked bootloader
running twrp 3.1.1 open kirin edition
openkirin os
i didnt get on with the percieved lag soo unrooted restored official os and removed twrp and locked up the bootloader
after first boot i realised my 2nd sim slot is not working after it was functiuonal before :/
ive been hunting about and think it might have something to do with the 3dmodem.app but when i extract orr use the update.zip it always skips it. does anybody know how i managed this? :/
also a way to restore 2nd sim functionality would be appreciated
This is the first time I see this issue.
However, if you are on complete stock now, do a rollback to marshmallow and see if it works.

It is good to hear :highfive:
Resolved - L29C567B190->Build NRD90M Test-keys-> DLOAD fix fails -> Now Boot Looping
I've been working on the path to have my Mate 9 unlocked, rebranded, and to Pie.
I followed this guide. Not sure why, but I ended up with this:
TWRP Recovery (expected thisi)
Not upgraded to Oreo (unexpected)
Build: NRD90M Test-keys (unexpected and problematic)
I've read that I need to re-install the MHA-L29C567B190 again.
So, I attempted 2-3 times with different downloaded (supposedly MHA-L29C567B190) firmwares to just use TWRP to upgrade. All failed. So, I decided to put a DLOAD directory with the files required onto my SD card and upgrade from the Project Menu.
Of course, I had to reinstall the default recovery to do that. I did that using fastboot.
So at this point, I'm thinking I can do the reinstall of MHA-L29C567B190. So, I did this:
Launched Project Menu (*#*#2846579#*#*)
Select 4. Software Update
1. SDCard Upgrade
Phone restarts and starts the upgrade
I get this message
Software install failed!
Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package.

So I presume I get that error because NRD90M Test-keys doesn't even have any compatible versions. I am certain I downloaded the files for MHA-L29C567B190.
Anyone have any suggestions how I can reinstall the Nouget MHA-L29C567B190 over NRD90M Test-keys?
If I can get that fixed, I can struggle again with rebranding.
Any help appreciated.
So, I went out and studied the rebrand instructions, and finally found that I misspelled the HWOTA directory on the SD Card. So I ran that again.
This time it appeared to be working on the install of the 432 software at the end of the process. But it failed for some reason.
Now I'm in a boot loop. My very first. Should I celebrate my first?
So, now on a search to find how to get out of the boot loop. I've tried the various options I do have from the boots into recovery. Exact naming of process I list below may not be accurate, but you'll probably get the idea:
Tried the option to download latest version and image...failed
Tried doing a factory reset...failed
Tried following the rebrand process once more. same results.
Update on attempt to fix bootloop...
I followed this article to repair. I downloaded a fresh c567b190 file, and copied the update.app into dload. Did a force install per the instructions...it failed.
I had another one from a different download site. It failed.
I tried a 432 file from what I was trying to rebrand to. It failed. I do find it interesting that supposedly same files downloaded from different sites are different sizes. As well, some instructions say to only copy update.app to dload, and others say to copy entire set of files/folders that are in the file that update.app is in.
Beginning to worry this phone is toast.
I'm going to search out other 'remedies'.
[EDIT]
I'm pretty sure that the build showing as NRD90M is causing my problems. I suspect the bootloader is checking against the version and "nothing is compatible" with it. So being in a bootloop with the additional problem of wrong build identification is making this difficult.
I don't know if anyone after weekend will see this and/or have any suggestions, but I'll keep updating as I learn things or stumble onto new obstacles.
I do have some success to express.
I used this thread and it got me booted, into Oreo, and a good build.
BUT...(as always)
The instructions on that thread are to unbrick, and install the rebrand files at the same time. However, during the TWRP Install process (after getting Oreo 8.0.0.046(0409) installed. It was supposed to boot into TWRP after installing it, and do that update.
But, yet another error: during TWRP install attempt, got an error about partition size (don't recall if it was too long or short or what. If anyone needs to know to help me get past this I can run it again).
So, the batch file was waiting at a prompt for me to load TWRP so it could continue. But no TWRP. So I found a TWRP for Oreo, and installed it. I then hit the ENTER key for it to continue, but it didn't.
I loaded Firmware Finder on the phone, and it found nothing to work with it. I have no idea what Oreo 8.0.0.046(0409) is even for, or what region it would be from. Can't find it even with Google.
So, here's what I need help with
What's the best way to get to MHA-L29 C432(Europe). Would it be as simple as adding my l29 model in FF, downloading c432, and installing via TWRP? Another way better?
I think I'm off of the keyboards and phone for a while. It's been quite a chase.
Hopefully I'll get some feedback early next week on how to progress.

I as thinking I had the right firmware, MHA-L29C432B194. But as I think about it, I didn't get that from FF. When I add a model of MHA-L29C432B194 in FF, and search, I find it, but I'm not sure which one I need. I understand I need FullOTA-MF-PV for dload. What is there is FULLOTA-MF, and OTA-MF . I suspect it depends on which method of install I use.
I"m thinking about trying booting to TWRP, and 'install' the ZIPS for the firmware. But I haven't seen confirmation that will work. I don't want to end up in another bootloop.
at the end what u want to do ? tell me ?

I have fixed the bootloop problem from a search that I found a tutorial. The problem now is that it left me on an Orea that oeminfo (cust) is lost. It's not recognized as a valid rom.
I have another thread that has migrated to this topic. I think someone there is gathering tools for me.
I apparently need to downgrade to Nouget, and start over my efforts to migrate to c432, which then will auto upgrade me to Pie. Problem so far at this point is finding a good HWOTA8 file. All searches I find that have links are dead links.
if someone gather it let him work. give me what exacly rom u need, full name
Sorry. I am not getting the email notifications of updates. Apparently sometime in the past, I opened a different account here with my current email. It won't let me update my email address here as it is used in that other account. I've tried the Forgot password thing, but the reCAPTCHA just circles and circles and never lets me make the request.
Back on topic: I got it all worked out. I had another thread on topic of the beginning of my process that was pretty much done. But conversation struck back up, and it continued on to a fix for this problem. It's a bit lengthy, and I learned a lot there, thanks to @zgfg.
If anyone wants to see how this was resolved, you can start at Post # 60 at this thread.
Thanks folks for your input here.
