Converting Chinese TL10 to any other ROM - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Really sorry to be posting here and bugging people..
Basically i just recieved a near-new mate 7 TL10 2GB/16GB chinese version.
I have unlocked the bootloader + put TWRP recovery on the phone.
I took a full system backup before messing with anything
It came on a fully updated 6.0.0 image from the factory.
I have downloaded the `MT7-TL10_V100R001C00B130_Firmware_Southern_Pacific_Region_Others_Android_4.4.2` file from Huawei as that's apparently the correct one for Australia.
I tried flashing the system.img via fastboot and the system just hangs on boot (does the animation and then just sits on the huawei logo for 30 mins)..
I also tried system.img + cust and had the same result
Im basically looking for any ideas to get this phone off the chinese ROMs ?
Currently I am open to any ideas out there...
Thank you

Double posting as its a solution (sort of)

So a) Thank you
b) Does anyone know why it works when others dont?
PS: Thanks for being an awesome community, I have quited enjoyed the amount of knowledge on this forum as I have been reading it for the last few days

[Q] Huawei g6 L11 stuck on splash screen/bootloop

Hi all, special request for help.
My G6 is stuck in a boot loop, it just happened one day when browsing the net.
I can access the system recovery and have downloaded what roms/firmwares i could from huawei and other sites (not easy to find G6 L11 versions) and flashed them from the sd card.
BUT i just receive an "update packet ext name error"
The files have been UPDATE.APP in the dload folder as suggested, I've also tried wiping the data and a lot of other crap i read on google. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's driving me mental.
P.S the bootloader is still locked, would this prevent me from using the above? If so, is it possible to unlock the bootloader without using the operating system?
P.P.S as you may of gathered I'm not very technical and have just learnt this information and terms from hours of googling my problem...
What Rom do you have???? The default? And do you have root?

Thanks for the reply. Yes was the default Rom, and I tried to flash stock roms from the Huwei site.
No phone isn't rooted, I don't know how to without being able to operate the phone.
I emailed Huawei tech support but no response...
Try!

Have you try to install B118???
http://consumer.huawei.com/fr/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=24242
extract dload folder to PC, copy to sd card, with phone off, press vol +, vol - and power, release power on boot and vols when start to flash.
Tell if works.
if works and you want B370 kitkat ROM, came to this Facebook page, i made it:

[solved] Return to stock before upgrade

Hi everyone,
been looking around and found a lot of stuff to return to stock ROM and so I don't know what to really do...
here's the situation :
i'm running Kangvip B180 on NXT-L29 and would like to return to stock in order to upgrade to nougat the official way.
TWRP 3.0.2 installed
Bootloader unlocked
Rooted
could someone explain or point me to a good tutorial so I can go back to stock and then upgrade normally please ?
(I know what I need is explained somewhere, but all those posts about bricked devices and different methods to do something are just messing with my head and I don't want to screw up)
Any help appreciated

Hi guys,
I managed to go back to stock.
For those who are like me, here's what got me sweating but was ok
- fastboot flash stock recovery
- previously add an update.app in the dload folder on external SD (B180)
- rebooted with the 3 buttons method
- let it go through the update
- go to settings in order to get the updates available
- it went from B192, to B320 and finally B560
I didn't format anything till being on B560. Things were ****ing slow and crappy while doing the updates so don't worry
once I was on B560, I went down to the parameters and did a factory reset.
everything seems ok now, and I also solved my problem with the Gear S3 I had (not connecting to the mate)
Hope it helps anyone having these sort of problems

[Rom][NXH20B] Huawei Watch 2 BT LEO-B09/LEO-BX9 Global Fastboot [Factory Images]

Finally The wait is over
For all of you outside waiting for Global Firmware ROM... here it is:
I have tried it in a LEO-BX9 working flawless... last version received with chinese firmware by OTA was NXH19R
As previously done text is copied from giangishanghai as most are applicable. Thanks @giangishanghai for all the help and the patience :angel
- Make sure you have ADB activated on watch and all files needed on your pc (there are plenty of guides on xda so please search and read it if needed).
- Download 7z file from here : https://mega.nz/#!ozB12QrD
Decription Key
!U6_ZwGwPNUNj3P0PCfpsDtVoGpPG_x1csvR8I1ECOqU
-Edit: You will find 6 .img files:
bootloader, boot, cache, recovery, system, userdata.
-EDIT: In this link you will find whole Recovery software and images if needed:
https://mega.nz/#!YiZkjKyR
Decription Key
!vlUDAZz3mEJsSOpKYgbX5YaITUN59uL3YaVRSOtpVcU
-Edit: Before going to Bootloader, make sure ADB is working and your watch is recognized properly:
Run
Code:
adb devices
Result should be your Watch ID and the word "device" (unathorized or anything else will not work, when unathorized appears make sure to check your Watch for a prompt to authorize something, as it is in Chinese, choose the option with more characters - third one as I remember-)
-Boot the watch into bootloader mode
shut down the watch, press the power button and quickly press twice when the first vibration finished.
-Use the following commands one by one:
(DO NOT flash the bootloader.img)
IMPORTANT!!!: Make sure to run ALL commands below, from the ADB folder, where you have to previously copied all 6 *.IMG files, otherwise you will receive a lot of errors.
For Example if your ADB folder is in C:\adb, the command prompt should be in "C:\adb" so you make a DOS dir command and you see all 6 *.img files plus some ADB files
Then start with following commands one by one in exact order....
fastboot oem unlock (no needed if you already unlock your watch)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot reboot
DONE!!
EDIT: ****PLEASE READ IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY TOUCH ISSUES******Thanks @mcdull
I were able to flash the rom without any issues. HOWEVER...
Originally I suggested NOT to temper with the bootloader so that we can keep the very low level of the device untouched to prevent hard bricking.
But I experienced inaccurate touch screen after applying the ROM. And then I finally convinced myself to flash the bootloader to see if it can fix it.
It is now confirmed that flashing the bootloader will NOT change the model number. So the device model is determined by its hardware. And I can check the FCC of Leo-bx9 in official website, so there must be somewhere in the world selling this BX9 with global rom.
What's more important is that the touch screen is now working perfectly. All part of the screen is now touchable and accurate.
All in all, if you have any touch issue, you may be able to resolve it by flashing the bootloader. Bare in mind that Huawei can be told that you have tempered the bootloader if they dig deep. But I am prepared to give up the warranty for a Global Rom.

On download completion, find the .exe file in the zip archive and open it with any compressed file manager, where you will see several .img images. Hi, I flash your images, everything works normally expect notify. When notify appears on phone, there is no vibrate and no sound on wear, just notify card shown silently.
My wear had global version system, but Google Map gave a wrong location, so I try China version.
I use light flow to test notify. When I open option "silence phone while wearing watch", phone doesn't sound too but still vibrate. If I close this option, phone sound and vibrate. But watch always doesn't action.

I tried the international image on a LEO-DLXX, works fine, but without the SIM capabilities (4G, calls and etc), and during the boot there is a message about being using a different operating system. I suppose you'd get the same with the Chinese version.

Stuck in TWRP (Recovery)

Hello everyone, I hope I'm writing in the right section.
I'll go straight to the issue: after finally deciding to install a custom rom on my device (HUAWEI GX8), i decided to opt for this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v3-0-t3537792
The first problem i had to face was the "ERROR:7" (so the rom seemed to be made for a different phone than mine) that occured while installing the rom in the twrp, but being that the rom was specifically made for my phone I followed this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wed03948gcg and fixed the issue, resulting in a perfect installation... or so I thought.
After rebooting, the phone didn't start the os but was stuck in the twrp (I tried rebooting multiple times and in different ways of course).
Being that I had made a backup before installing the new rom, I decided to restore that backup from the twrp... but still the phone is stuck in the twrp and I don't know what to do :crying:
I hope somebody can help me because I'm starting to panicking.
Cheers in advance.
PS: I'm a complete newb so this was the first time I installed a custom rom, I tried searching for this problem online but couldn't find a solution that fitted me. I hope I won't ask too many stupid questions.

The ROM that you flashed was NOT made specifically for your device, you have HUAWEI GX8, the ROM was made for Moto G4 Plus. You would have know this if you had looked at the forum it was posted in. It was posted in in the Moto G4 forum, not in a Huawei forum.
The "fix" that you used didn't help.it successfully flash, it only help you "force" the ROM to flash. You bypassed a safety measure that was designed to keep you from flashing the wrong thing, now you're dealing with the results of forcing it to flash on a device it wasn't meant for.
Learn to pay attention to what you are reading.
You need to flash your stock firmware to fix this.

I'm sorry I may have linked the wrong page, either way on the website of the rom I downloaded the right thing, I'm sure about it because I checked it multiple times (the error I made in writing the post may be cause by me panicking, sorry :crying: ).
While waiting for answers I installed a different twrp and it WORKS! I'm so happy I could cry. Thank you nonetheless for your help (Still dunno what the problem was though xD)
@SlimeAndroid as you installed ROM of different phone, it might not get installed as ROM zip contains script for Mobile verification.
I assume you had wiped /system and after installation of wrong ROM you rebooted your phone without reading if TWRP said you don't have any OS installed or what. (That means you have ran without any OS, that may be reason why you stuck with TWRP.)
But after Restoring Backup of Working ROM, it should boot your device, but it doesn't.
We (on G4 plus) have faced issue: when phone start, it always goes to TWRP/recovery instead of booting to system.
Are you facing similar ?
Solution for this problem was to clear bootloader data, by using fastboot commands (i assume you know how to do, otherwise ask for better explanation )
Run this two commands from Comand Prompt
-> fastboot oem fb_mode_set
-> fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
This worked for us. You can try, if doesn't work then flash Stock ROM.

You always have to make sure the download is for your model of phone(settings -about) and always make sure the download has properly downloaded and I use md5 checksum as this verifies the download is not courupt.

Lenovo s5 (k520) ZUI 3.7.177 ST Got root anyone?

Just got a new Lenovo s5 (k520 running ZUI 3.7.177 ST) but can't root it (tried KingRoot and Root Genius so far).
It has a nasty little OS (ZUI 3.7) which keeps killing apps it doesn't like. It took me two days to find an adblocker which would work (AdClear) after trying Dns66, Blokada and a couple of others which I can't recall. It's tightly locked down.
* Anyway, my question is... Has anyone had any luck with rooting this phone or OS?
* Or, has anyone any suggestions for apps or rooting options which might be more successful?
If there's any other people out there with this phone, I would seriously consider chipping in to buy one for a dev to work with... give me a yell if you're interested.
Cheers,
Specs:
OS ZUI 3.7 (based on Android O)
CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz Octa core
ROM 64GB
RAM 4GB
Edit: Hmmm, I was hoping that the latest Magisk beta (16.6) might help, but no luck. It does seem to get further along but fails with an 'unable to find boot image' message (my apologies for not being able to quote that accurately). Nothing seems able to find that .img. Can't back it up either as no app can find it. Yes, I need to brush up my adb skills ...my last effort ended in an error reporting lack of appropriate key, as I recall (sorry, have a bit of a flu just now). Anyway, has anyone else been able to look at this phone? Anyone have any ideas (or just thoughts) about what I can do here?
Thanks.
Just to update.... I have tried every simple rooting option I can find -with no luck.
I have found one reference to installing twrp & rooting this phone, but I'm unsure how legit it is ...it just looks a little like its put together by a script; but maybe they just copy/paste a lot when writing tutes? (I have written to them but have had no response from them in a week). The tutorial makes reference to a dev/group in China successfully installing twrp, but only on a Chinese release, not international.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows of the group or people referenced at
http://tutoraplikasi.com/cara-root-lenovo-s5/
or if anyone might have an idea of the dev(s) in China working on twrp & lenovo?
Just a shot in the dark, really, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Cheers.
OK, looks like time for some more serious reading and brushing up of old, much neglected skilz... I will probably close this thread and open another ( if there's no objections) in the xda twrp forum.
If anyone is interested, I'm looking to compile twrp for this device with a view to flashing magisk. Hopefully, it will work. Seems that adb & unlocking the bootloader is the only way I'm going to get to actually see the partitions holding the IMG files etc. (Though I do have one or two ideas about escalating privileges/permissions, but that's a whole other bunch of research -and time which is always short.)
Anyway, if you have an interest in rooting this phone have a look for a thread under twrp Q&A.
Cheers.
Seems like it was just a matter of waiting... XN Logos has come up with a solution, it appears --
https://www.stupdroid.com/2018/07/root-twrp-lenovo-k520.html?m=1
At least I managed some in depth reading in the meantime. I'll report back on success of the procedure.
Hi I have also a Lenovo s5. I hated zui 3.7 too and I succeded in installing Lineage OS 15.1 by phh using only fastboot mode... I tried rooting It but unsuccessfully. Now I want twrp and if it would be possible even root. Did you succeed with XN Logos?

Haven't actually tried yet. After all that looking for a root solution I now have been too busy. Will probably do it this Wednesday. I'll keep you posted. Did lineage work well? Any bugs or other issues? ZUI is a dog.
Yeah everything is okay... In the previous updates there was a problem with the audio in ear but now is solved. The only thing that is a little (but not dramatically) worse is battery life because in zui the fact that the os kills every app in background makes the battery last longer.
Hey guys, I know it is no the perfect thread for this yet this phone almost doesn't exist anywhere on the internet. I have the same issue with apps closing as you do. I wanted to install Lineage OS yet as there is no official release for lenovo S5. I would really appreciate some guidance on which release would I install and how. Would it be via the twrp? Thanks in advance.

I'd say its this one, maikelos27...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...evice-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690
Should be able to use twrp, or via fastboot as mentioned.

Hello, I'm a lucky owner of this beautifull beast, the Lenovo S5 K520, but with the horfull ZUI3.7. I always have been using Cyanogen and after lineage OS.
It did not luck for me to install it on the Lenovo S5.
I manage to install TWRP-3.2.2-0713 with the help of the S-Droid toolkit for Lenovo S5.
From there, I did try every rom from phh on this page : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690
but the best I did get is the first logo of lineage OS going on and never stop for hours. I also did try AOSP treble Rom from this site : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659, but there I'm getting the Android text changing of ligth theme, but bothing more.
Could you please tell us the procedure and the version of the software you are using so that you are able to use Lineage OS on a Lenovo S5 K520?
Thanks a lot.

Hi i did in this way...
1)fastboot -w
2)fastboot erase modemst1
3)fastboot erase modemst2
4) fastboot erase system
5) fastboot erase boot
6) fastboot erase recovery
7) fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
8) fastboot flash boot boot.img
9) fastboot flash system {systemname}.img
The only thing you should do firstly is download the firmware from a video in YouTube whose name is like "ROM Lenovo s5" or something like that and extract the firmware in order to have both boot.img and recovery.img. Hope I could help
P.s. I used phh lineage latest build
Lenovo S5 global version stock rom
Hi everybody!
I was wondering if any of you have a copy of the original ZUI 3.7 non-Chinese stock firmware. I had trouble with my phone and contacted the customer service. Unfortunately, they've sent me the Chinese version (K520_CN_OPEN_USER_Q00011.0_O_ZUI_3.7.355_ST_180412_qpst) and now my phone is almost unusable as the rom only contains crappy Chinese stuff... :crying:
All apps are Chinese and it contains no GApps... I cannot even restore previously save config.
Please help me and send me a backup or the original non-Chinese firmware.
Thank you very much
I didn't even know the existence of an original firmware for non Chinese phones indeed when I bought it it came with a horrible chinese firmware with few translations. Did you find it? Because I want to try it too. If you didn't find it I'm also going to look for it
