Enable “OK Google” Always-on - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

So, I have been trying enable force unlock screen using google assistant with this method, but no luck on oreo. Any chance make this work?

Never got this to work well when I got the phone a year or so ago. Such a shame it's capable of always listening for Hey Emy (which has close to 0 functionality) why can't we change it to use Assistant?

[Q] Voice dialing with a PIN lock on Nexus 5

Hi All I have just purchased a new nexus 5 (gear live pre-ordered) in a curious attempt to have a go at android from my Iphone 5c.
I am tweaking the handset at the moment to give me some lost functionality from IOS. I have stumbled across a really painful problem that i can not find a solution to. I use a pair of bose wired earphones to listen to music and use as hands free in the car. On my iphone, I am used to to pushing the mic button and activating the voice dial from the locked screen, all good.
When i try doing this on my nexus, i get the "can not use OK Google until the phone is unlocked" message in my ear.
I have to have a passlock on the handset due to work security restrictions.
Does anyone have a work around for this? I am hoping my new gear live will keep the pass lock when in close proximity (A major flaw otherwise - unlocking your phone before you can see anything on your smartwatch!) in the interim though, putting a pass key in the phone every time i want to make a call whilst riving is pretty poor!
currently on stock 4.4.4. not rooted yet -
Thanks all

I'll be honest and say that being able to make a call with the phone being pin locked would be a security risk. Now as for a workaround I can only think of one thing that would work but it requires some time to configure things correctly.
You could us ethe app tasker to automate this. You can set a profile for when you are in your car. When you are driving in the car (e.g. moving over 10 MPH) you can have tasker turn off your PIN Lock. Then when you get out of your car (eg not moving) it would reenable your PIN lock.
If that's too hard to configure (I can show you if you are interested in the above method) You can just set up a much simpler profile in tasker that whenever your BT headset is connected disable your PIN lock. THough this is less secure.
Those are the only options I can think of and honestly I would be surprised if anyone came up with a true solution to this

Voice control issue

Hi,
I just got my Honor 8 and I have encountered problem with voice control. Wake up word works fine, but if I try to follow with command "where are you" or "Call someone" it does not react.
Qucik call - pressing volume down and saying "Call someone" works ok.
I have tried to disable Google app, but it didn't help. Tried to find other solutions, but there is nothing.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot
Are you having problems with camera app as well pop up that says audio.google.searchbox. I'm also disappointed I can't see a way to fix this.
When OK Google detection is turned on it does this with a lot of apps.
Hello.
I think there are 2 competing voice control systems on the device. The phones voice control and googles. Am I right? Does anyone know how theese work together e.g. do you have to choose wich one to use whereas the otherone will be disabled? In the beginning my local voice control worked fine but after turning on google voice control ("ok google") the local system started erroring. When trying to configure voice control i get a message "HiVoice Is currently recording audio. com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox:interactor will not be able to record right now".
Any ideas whats going on?
I tried disabling Ok Google, but it doesn't work I switched to using Ok Google instead as this one works fine

Voice commands for Android Auto

Heya, I got the new S8+ and I love it so far.
One issue that I encountered is with Android Auto; it can't hear me. It worked perfectly well in the same car with the Galaxy Note 5, but not with S8+. The funny thing is that it starts listening when I say "ok, google"...
Anyone else having any issues? Or it is working as expected?
I will be very interested in any answers you get. My Lumia 950XL worked great in my 2014 Ford, but when I switched to the HP Elite X3, it wouldn't work. This is one of the many reasons I am dumping my X3, so I am interested to see if you are able to fix this.
Thanks!
I have the same it's been happening to me since I went to the beta Google assistant, so for me I assumed it was that.
Google assistant works great with out android auto I hope it's fixed soon.
I upgraded to s8 plus but I am still running the beta Google assistant.
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
VZW S8+; I'm having no issues with it, it's responding and recognizing my commands as before (with my old S7E). I have the Pioneer AVH4200-NEX installed aftermarket with a micro USB to USB C adapter for the S8+.
Here's how you break it (or how I have done it).
Disable the 6 Bixby services (I did it so I'd stop hitting the Bix button, AT&T no remap option I know of yet)
Have phone locked (not just screen off waiting for security to kick in).
Try to use "OK Google" trusted voice unlock like a normal person would on any other phone (had to poke)
Your phone will vibrate just a slight minute like it tries but does not succeed.
So you then unlock your phone proper and boom, mic not detecting crap until you REBOOT.
Prior to all this, if unlocked it was working fine. I'll re-enable the SixBix, reboot and report back.
sigh.

Update:
Re-enabled all Bixby stuff I had disabled (when I search for Bixby now there are 8 services)
Rebooted and GV worked like a charm in all states.
Methodically disabled services (using Samsung Package Disabler Pro) to find that the one that blocks just the Bixby button. It is com.samsung.android.bixby.agent
Rebooted, locked device, unlocked with OK Google!
Tested a few times so far, thanks for forcing me to dig deeper!
Crossing fingers they don't patch it hehe

Ok google to activate assistance in P20

When I say ok google , it asks me for fingerprint or pattern.
How can I bypass the passcode and directly activate the assistance?
anyone?
I usually manage to fix it by:
- open settings
- search for "Trusted Agents"
- turn google off
- restart phone
- turn bag google agents on
But in general i need to repeat those steps after every google app update I think
Just came back from work,
i have tried to do the same way with my P20, it is not working too.
However, when i do the same for my Samsung S8+, it works!
which means voice activation for S8+ is working but not P20
Just been out of town to Japan.
And curious enough to try the ok google again
Very weird, it works perfectly in Japan with my P20
So is it limited by district or something?
I can't activate voice match at all. I've tried multiple different languages (phone and Google app) but the setting is always greyed and unclickable. Tried different fixes but no success.
Unfortunately Smart Lock has been broken in all the Android devices for a while now, and Google just doesn't seem to care. It's not an issue with Huawei phones.
Please star the issue and write a comment here, hoping one day they'll address it... https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/65972290

google dialer/call recording

I would really like to understand this. I know Google shut down it's API for call recording a long time ago, and now, it's shutting down the ability for apps to use the accessibility API to do that. But, Pixel phones, and certain Samsung devices will have recording enabled on the google dialer, in certain areas(or countries).
Why only certain phones? Does Samsung pay google for that, or what?
My phone is a Teracube One (currently) it uses the google dialer but doesn't have the recording capability. I tried to switch my app store to Singapore to see if that would enable that functionality, but it didn't. I could try a factory reset, but I'm guessing that wouldn't work.
If I want call recording, in my next phone, what are my options? Buy only a Samsung or Pixel, after having paid for a flight to somewhere that it's enabled?
If I bought a fair phone, is there someway I could get call recording?
I'm lost and confused, on all this. I would appreciate anyone with a better understanding, commenting/replying.
Have you tried Cube ACR?

If I'm not mistaken, that won't work going forward as it uses the Accessibility API that all third party recording apps do.
Asking again, please help me to understand what options I have
