Best places to buy a phone to root... amazon? - General Questions and Answers

I'm a long time beneficiary of all the work done on these forums. Many thanks to all who spend lots of work for the benefit of those of us to enjoy rooting. I've never been a technology wizard but and I've always been pretty good at following instructions. The tutorials and instructions on these forums are amazing.
I'm about to buy a Galaxy S8 with the plan to root. I am on the Verizon network and I'm clearly not going to buy a Verizon phone with a locked bootloader.
Any recommendations on where to buy a factory unlocked phone that should work well with the instructions provided on these forums for rooting? Amazon.com is my leading contender at this point to buy a US version that is unlocked.
I have tried to get answers by asking questions about locked bootloaders on Amazon but get mixed feedback. I've also tried to get build numbers for devices that are sold but haven't been successful.
Many thanks!

Advice for newbie on phones

I have a topic active regarding getting my ATT Note 3 up to V.7 It seems as much as I love the Note 3, ATT and others don't want me to enjoy all it has to offer by putting up so many road blocks to getting it to a better state of being.
With that in mind I have a two part question.
1. Is there some place to buy a totally unbranded Note 3 or 4 that has no locked bootloader etc?
2. Is there another brand that has similar quality and function that is easy to work with regarding custom ROMs? ( I like the OLED display! )
( GSM for either ATT or T-Mobile use in USA ) I don't want to pay through the nose for a brand new or most current device, happy with older generation or good used device, but not even sure what to look for.

Has someone boiled this down to a list of some kind? Second topic has over 1000 pages. By the time I read to the last page, there will be 100 new phones on the market? LOL
There must be a top 10!

I did look around but way too many pages with far to little information.
Many people simply mentioned a make/model they like without any reference to it's ability to accept MODS or be rooted etc. I can make a list of available phones but that won't tell me if I were to buy any given phone that it lends itself to being rooted and modded.
That's why I was hoping someone with hands on for some specific models could point me in the right direction given that I specified the issue of locked boot loaders and not being able to install different mods.
That topic is too general and fill of likes and dislikes based on so many variables and I'm already 71!

Best phone for a flashaholic?

Using a op5t as my daily driver, untouched running oreo. However over the past few years I've put many a device in hospital and don't wanna do it to my main phone as I need it working without bugs or issues.
Looking for options for a additional phone I can mess around with that has plenty of support still in XDA, obvs a 2nd hand nexus 6p would be amazing but the ones I'm seeing on eBay are a bit battered, I'd love to buy a brand new phone for my addiction. I honestly miss it all and just want a good machine to play around with?
Moto? Samsung? What would you go with? Without breaking the bank?
Thanks in advance.

Need help choosing next phone. Would like to be able to tether hotspot for free

Hey guys, I have been out of the modding scene since Samsung started locking the battery in the phone. My current G7E+ is falling apart and I need something new. I went to browse on AT&T devices but I'm pretty overwhelmed with choices, and have no idea which of these devices are rootable/moddable, or if unlocking tethering for free is still even an option.
Mandatory things:
unlock free hotspot tethering
badass camera
big screen
big battery
Any advice? Thanks.

Easy to root uk tablet recommendations

Hi,
I’m hoping to get some help with reasonably priced tablets that are easy to root.
I purchased a hauwei media tab but then saw that they’re not giving out the unlock codes for the bootloader. So I’m returning that and hoping to pick something up which is a little easier to root!
Could anyone recommend tablets around £150-£200 which are pretty easily rooted?
Thank you!

Buy any nexus and download wugfresh nexus root toolkit. Super easy to do. The tablets are old but will do the job. You just plug your tablet into the USB and it guides you through everything.

Help finding right stock rom

I read this is the place for noobs, so, I got myself into a FRP LOCK on my Galaxy Tab A6 sm-T280. I use the tablet strictly for flying my drone for surveillance around the rural location where I live. It was having some connectivity problems, so I rooted it to hopefully get enough horsepower to run the DJI Go app. That didn't work so I did a wipe/factory reset, had a problem with the password, and here I am.
I am researching, and gathering the required tools to fix it.
I finally found some guides that are basic enough for me to understand.
I found numerous sites to download the stock rom, but not sure which ones are safe. Suggestions? Also, I am not sure about the country code for the firmware. I am in the USA, and I don't see it listed anywhere. Does it matter? This android stuff is all new and confusing to this old man. I am determined to get this tablet fixed, and would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks, Gary
edit: Will this rom work? : T280XXUOAPL1 using XAA for theCSC? Is xaa the default/generic for U.S.A. ?

Thank you Ibuprophen,
This one did the trick : https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=3589415
I've looked at a dozen different download sites, and this is the only one that shows the United States for the country code. I've built my own computers, worked with windows, and a bit with linux,, but this android stuff is eating on me. But with help from folks like you, I think I can get where I need to be. I hit the thanks button on your posts and the op. Hope you have great weekend, you've helped to make mine a WHOLE lot better. Gary
