Mate 9 - MHA-L29 C185 Oreo Update - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Any MHA-L29 user with C185 got oreo update as of yet ? Firmware finder showed some, but they are not approved for installation.

I updated my phone with update 110949 dated 31/12/2017.

OTA PUSHED for europeen L29 and L09 C432 release B363

OTA only for europeen region C432 and release B363

Yes, I have a Middle East unlocked variant of Mate9. Last night, I got tired og Huawei's lazy and slow updater, so I downloaded Firmware Finder and it offered me the update, as soon as I changed my DNS setings.
Right now, its downloading a 2.67 GB OTA update. Its version number is coming up as 8.0.0.370 (C185).
HTH

I have downloaded the system update thru the Huawei official update tool, and both times after it downloads the large file, it tries to verify and refuses to install it, saying that Authentication Failed. This package is unauthorised and will be deleted. Please download and install an authorised installation package.
Any ideas, how to update to Oreo 8.0 ?
Thanks.

Firmware finder can only install if your IMEI is approved for update.
B370 is most likely too new to be approved yet for anyone.
@bym007 you can use HWOTA, which requires unlocking bootloader (can be locked again, so it says Lock and not relocked).
If you are on Nougat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
If you want to update Oreo - Oreo: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
Or paid alternatives.

Thanks for your comment. I didn't how to check for eligibility. I have since found the latest Oreo update 8.0.0.360, and then updated my phone.
My phone was also showing strange lags and unpredictable behaviours here and there, so I used the opportunity to factory reset the phone after applying the update.

I've downloaded and installed Oreo build 371 with no issues on my Mate 9 MHA-L29C185.

[TUTORIAL]How to update EVA-L09C636 (Asia-Pacific) model to B361 (EMUI 5)

I had been searching for a way to update my EVA-L09C636 (Asia-Pacific) model to EMUI 5.0. During the previous month I tried to install EVA-L09C636B361 firmware via either dload and Huawei Updater, but such means of direct installation never worked out.
Now the problem is solved, and the solution is quite simple, though a little bit unexpected: using Huawei Updater to install EVA-L19C636B190 before installing EVA-L09's own B361 firmware. I mean, it is interesting that we have to "borrow" the B190 firmware from the Dual SIM L19 model in order to update to EMUI 5.
(I'm not the first person to find the solution. I just found out that in a Taiwanese forum a tutorial is already posted. )
So there are two steps to install B361:
1.
Install EVA-L19C636B190 via Huawei Updater
Use Custom ROM URL
Copy and paste the link to EVA-L19C636B190:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1079/g104/v64578/f1/
Use the HiSuite on PC to finish the installation of B190 (Set its proxy to 127.0.0.1 and the port to 41279)
2.
Repeat the previous process, but this time, replace the link with the one to EVA-L09C636B361:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73928/f1/
Again, use the HiSuite to finish the installation of B361
Note that the C636B190 version firmware for L19 model does run on L09 without the support of the L09-exclusive NFC. I think there should be a thread discussing this. Anyways, before official update comes out, the two steps above seem to be the only way to install EMUI 5 on the Asia-Pacific EVA-L09C636 version without losing data.
That is interesting, I dont have a C636 but I would assume just doing step 2 without the need to flash a L19B636 would do the trick.

I was searching for this for months. I bought my p9 EVA-L09C636 in the US (I'm european) and I never had the chance to update, even at 4.1.1. I went crazy because I tried several times to unlock the bootloader first, installing twrp and flashing updates but with no success. It's unbelievable that I need to fake the version with huawei updater to obtain the updates for my phone. Now I've Nougat, without factory reset, with everything working, from nfc to all stock apps and services. Thank you very much

Well, in that case it keeps failing at 1%. I saw some previous posts talking about this as well.
Need Help
My model is Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636
I tried to update like this, it's started updating and got an error while updating then phone rebooted with new update,
but there's lot of errors,
Built Number displays as - NRD90M test-keys
Updater missing in settings
Camera missing
Flash Light not working
Clock missing
File Manger missing
and few more default huawei apps missing.
How do I fix it or downgrade to previous version back?
Thanks finally I was able to update my P9 to Nougat using this steps. The only difference is that there is a EVA-L09C636B190 available now so i didnt have to use the version for any other cell, I was afraid to do it. So following this steps i was able to upgrade from 168 to 190 and finally to 361 version.
My Phone is Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636
Even though my phone is L09 I've flashed L19 by following the steps on this thread -
(https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/nxt-l09c636b521-official-firmware-guide-t3544729/)
2016.12.29 - EVA-L19C636 - EVA-L19C636B361

http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...ll/hw/spcseas/update_data_full_hw_spcseas.zip
it's still NRD90M test-keys. but i'm cool with it.
Works on AL00 as well?
I was wondering if I can get the most current european rom on my AL00 with that method as well?
Holy cow thank you for this tutorial.
I spent six hours following every tutorial I could find on the web and my P9 staunchly refused to install ANY update from the very next one after the one it came with all the way up to the latest!
After hours and hours of trying this method is the one that worked.
Edit: This firmware is a developer build.
There have been several updates installed since it was released.
After you this firmware it you should immediately install Huawei Firmware Finder from the Play Store and install the latest full OTA.
The developer build changes the device ID of your phone so you have to manually add the model of your phone in Firmware Finder as:
EVA-L19C636
Otherwise Firmware Finder would tell you there are no firmwares available for your model.
If you can't install the latest OTA immediately after installing this firmware, first install the next one available (38 if I recall correctly) then install the latest OTA -- 38 will say it failed to install but it actually installs just fine, then install the latest full OTA.
That will give you all the bug fixes and the security patches from Google.
Also note that this firmware works on both the dual sim and single sim models (it's built for the single sim but my device is dual sim and the sim configuration in settings works).

The build number is normal.
As for the disappearing apps, it sounds like you have faulty flash storage.
That will cause files and apps to randomly disappear.

How to manually upgrade to latest version of Nougat?

I had received the update to Nougat via OTA on my Honor 8 early February. I, however, had to rollback to Marshmallow within a week or so as I had extremely poor battery life after the update. The rollback package on the Official Honor (US) Website didn't work for me. So I had used firmware package to switch back to Marshmallow. The current model number is FRD-L04 and the build number is FRD-C567B122.
I'm not sure if I'd receive future updates via OTA. I'm wondering if there is any patch introduced after the original update to Nougat & EMUI 5.0 and whether I should try manually upgrading again? My phone isn't rooted; could you provide any steps that would help me try a manual upgrade?
Thanks.

Still No Nougat for Honor 6x!!!

It's 22 May....Could anybody please tell me Why there is no nougat update in my honor 6x BL-22 even after so many days of release.
I am unable to understand whether to flash that manual update or not as I don't want to ruin my new phone by any means.
I just see "No updates available" in updater app. So if there's something please help!!!

I have edit my last post
No need to panic.. I spoke to someone on the emui page via Facebook messenger.. it's being rolled out in phases in India and its gonna take a while to reach everyone. Patience is the key.
---------- Post added at 09:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:28 AM ----------
However you could download it via Firmware Finder. But lots of them who used this as a mean reported abnormal battery drain and the like. So my advice would be to wait until it reaches us on the updater app. Hope it was of some help.
Update it via Firmware finder
I have updated my 6x from firmware finder and there is no battery drain issue and after checking with Hisuite it show it is official use send to updater method to get nougat without failure

You will get OTA package you don't need to flash it will get downloaded through EMUI updater doesn't required to try any combination

So it has only this version on server BLN-L22C675B310CUSTC675D002 which is also showing that this firmware is not approved for installation in its check firmware access. Also its downloading but there is no option for "send to updater", instead there is download update.zip which I know can be flashed with the updater. But as this is not approved for installation there's something buggy because of which it is not approved...that's the reason I don't want to try this...
Same here, I'm from India and yet to receive an update. Don't want to do via firmware finder, again because of the same reason as yours.

For send to updater you need to enable proxy for installing then the option to send to updater
And the Hisuite show the update is official i have also install the update throught firmware finder
Those of you who wanna install the update through Firmware Finder.. go to settings in Firmware Finder and enable proxy. It'll ask you to download another proxy app. Do that. You should be able to send the update to the updater app and then use WiFi .. modify the network in your saved WiFi by setting proxy to 8080. The update should appear in the updater and you are good to go.
Last day of may, still no update here in the uk

MHA-L29C636B158 OTA Update

I have a MHA-L29C636B158 mate 9. I have rebranded the phone from the chinese firmware. MHA-L29C636B181 is available but i am not receiving any OTA updates. knowing that when i rebranded the phone i received an OTA update and thats it.
Please help
In your case you have to update manually via Firmware Finder.
After rebrand some users told that they received updates, other people told did not receive. So, it is better don't wait too much time and force update

In step when you will search for rom, type model MHA-L29BC636
Notice that B189 appeared (number 97776) - it is latest rom for C636 region on Android 7.0
Check firmware access without IMEI
And if yes, download and install it by guide.

You receive the OTA?
I'm stuck on 8.0.0.376, do I need to upgrade via the spoof method to "latest" 8.0.0.xxx THEN try a full/partial 9.0 OTA?
Ive tried partial OTAs from 9.0 that are approved = hisuite says update failed.
Ive tried 1 full OTA from 9.0 that is approved = hisuite downloads passes all ok, phone reboots = verification failed (I assume phone is NOT connecting to internet on eRecovery phase right? but you never know. Since I'm only spoofing on windows not on the router).

New regions for 9.0 on the Mate 9 has been released at the start of June 3rd. In the next week, I guess we'll see who gets it
9.0.1.191(C432) has been approved for installation on FF, so the update should arrive during the coming days/weeks.
9.0.1.191 (C432) is approved for installation, I tried install via the firmware finder eRecovery method but the udpate stuck at downloading 0%
---------- Post added at 17:59 ---------- Previous post was at 17:23 ----------
It's quite strange that Middle East variant i.e. C185 has received the update since March and the Europe region is still waiting for the update. Whereas previously it was totally opposite.
Update: After wasting an hour and download the approved 9.0.1.191 via eRecovery from Firmware Finder, the package gave "Package Authentication Failed Error" on 99%.
