Basically I am trying to recover / wipe my GFs phone before sending it back to asurion. We have pictures of my daughter when she was a baby on there that were not on the SD card that we would like to recover. Unfortunately she did not have USB debugging enabled and every program / solution I have tried has failed. I have flashed phones with Odin before, but I had a functional screen. The screen is totally black and seems totally unresponsive to touch. Is there anyway to flash the phone or install custom software that I can at least access the phone from my PC to get the info off of it?
Thanks

So I completely bricked my captivate. I couldnt recover any image from backup (it wouldnt help anything), couldnt do much of anything. Tried to wipe / factory reset, didnt do anything. My phone was completely corrupted so I tried to run Odin on it. I ran the program and it set my phone back to a 2.1 which was booting fine. Rooted the phone again, ran Clockwork and was getting an error trying to flash the clockwork image to my phone.
Then it went all down hill...
Phone went completely dead not able to get into download, recovery, or any mode. Just sat at the AT&T World Phone screen and never did anything. The repair guy said my phone died but I think it was something I did... Luckily he replaced the phone free since its under the 1 year warranty.
Question is... what could I have possibly done to do this? Is there any way to remedy this if you cant even get into recovery mode?
Also - in the clockwork recovery when I wipe data etc.. why doesn't it actually wipe anything? All my apps were still there when I rebooted etc... (before the phone was hosed beyond repair lol).
Thanks.
If I am unable to enable USB debugging, am I pretty well S-O-L? I can get my phone to boot to android recovery utility, but because I did a factory reset, usb debugging is disabled. I cannot seem to get a custom recovery installed. My friend said that I should be able to download a custom recovery and install it from a zip from the recovery menu; is this possible? I am getting really frustrated because I cannot get my phone up and running again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Backstory:
I rooted my phone with no problems, started messing around with my build.prop to try to run a gameloft game. I made a back up of my original build.prop and stored it on my sd card. I replaced my entire build.prop with one from another phone and rebooted but my phone shows lg logo(at the suggestion of the same friend who has been trying to help), I hear the tracfone sound as if it is booting up, but my screen just remains backlit with no images. I am able to get into android recovery utility as well as the so-called emergency mode. However I cannot get the phone up and running again.
So, I'm trying to get the data from my S6 but there are ...some problems.
* The screen is broken (can't see anything)
* When the phone works, it keeps rebooting itself, and sometimes just does not do anything when I put it on the charger (no LED light, etc)
* The phone is rooted with TWRP recovery installed
I know this is going to be super hard but I have some personal data stored on the phone that I really need to recovery, times like these is when I wish we had microSD cards, but thats a different story.
Is there any possible way I can use ADB or something like that to recover the data, even if i'm stuck in recovery mode (since it won't boot up the OS)? Any other suggestions or help would be very much appreciated.
Once I managed to recover data from my old HTC Sensation while booted into recovery using the ADB PULL commands.
It worth a try.
Hi, I'm in a bit of a rage right now. Need my phone for work, and also afraid of loosing all the pictures and videos I've taken
So my phone has worked perfectly for months, updated several times, but today after the last update it's stuck on the boot logo, the Samsung one.
I've tried hard reset with Power+Down, it just reboots to the same logo and stays there forever. I also can't get into recovery mode with Power+Up+Home, it just gives me a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it for 1 second then boots back to the samsung logo. Tried Kies 3, it doesn't recognice the phone at all, tried everything in there.
The only thing I can access is the Download mode Down+Power+Home, I have no idea what to do there, I've read about Odin but that looks like some NASA-stuff way above my knowledge, isn't there just a way to get it back to previous version? Orginal, stock and all that? Don't wanna mess with roots if that can be done
I'm out of ideas, please help me, are all my data gone? Pictures, video etc? :'(
Help please
*Sorry for bad English, not my native, but I hope it got trough.
Sounds like an update gone wrong. Restoring the phone isn't so hard but saving your pictures and data is harder in most cases. You can try using Smart Switch and see if your device shows up on failed updates, maybie it can repair the installation. You can also use Smart Switch to restore the phone completely, but this DELETES everything on it. If you haven't rooted phone and have warranty, I'd return it to Samsung with strict instructions that phone broke when software update and that you want to keep your data/pictures. If the phone is rooted there are ways to extract data from the phone memory but I'd only do that as a last option.

Yeah, I did the upgrade with modelname and S/N trough Smart Switch, it worked, but all data was lost including all my contact phone numbers, hade over 350 :| don't think they are synced either? :|
Anyway, glad the phone works, will never install these stupid updates again, never noticed a single improvment after them anyways
Hi everyone.
Last night my phone ran out of power and when I charged it back up it wouldn't boot at all, so this morning I decided to try and fix it but I think I have just screwed it up even more to the point that its completely bricked.
I could still access TWRP and tried to reinstall the firmware and flash TWRP through the checkbox execpt about 1 minute in the screen went off due to the time out, but the screen wouldn't come back on at all so I left it for an hour just in case if it was still running in the background, after this time I hard restarted the phone and entered TWRP again and but it didn't install the firmware properly and my computer wasn't reading the phone properly so as a test I tried to swap bootloader from A to B stupidly and now I can't seem to access anything, only thing I can do is the menu where it says start, power off, recovery mode and restart bootloader. Pressing any of these settings seems to just put me back in to this menu again.
When plugging in the phone in to the PC it make's no noise at all as well.
Have I completely hard bricked my phone? Or is there a way to fix it?
Thanks Ben
All fixed I flashed the RAW firmware
