Call recorder with Oreo? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I was using a call recorder with nougat but since oréo, it's not working anymore.
I've tried many others, but no success.
Do you use one working call recorder?

did you try ACR recording too? ->https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr&hl=us
there is a posting visible from a German user about mate9 and acr recording. He wrote, it doesn’t work, but the programmer NLL has answered, that Huawei has fixed this software issue. But he have suggested to try acr recording using 3GP file format for it!

Thx, I've tried it today but there is no working configuration :crying:

did you really tried the last version of ACR recording with 3gp file format?
Did you permit all needed permissions to it?
Do you have the US or EU version of mate 9?
a other German user has tried it at his EU version and it works as expected!

Yes, I've installed the latest version on playstore and all autorisations have been accorded.
It's an european version (L09) from France.

With Oreo, ACR works the first few times, after it stops recognizing calls, and can't recorder them (even applying the recommended settings) .
I have tried almost all programs and the same thing happens to me (paid applications)
Some programs recognizes the outcoming calls, but not incoming calls .
I always disconnect all battery optimizations and give the applications all permissions (and I want to say "all") .
I have EU version L29C432, no root.

It's the sake thing I've noticed for the called recorder problems

hi,
i am using the Call Recorder app. No issues so far. MHA L29 OREO C636

I can confirm this app works as expected for both incoming and outgoing calls. App is ****ty, though.

Default parameters, I didn't changed anything after installation. See attached screenshot...
BTW I'm using ROM version 8.0.0.361

Can you record all calls in automatic way ( Incoming and outcoming calls) ? Even if you receive a call when mate is locked with the screen off?

I've tried the app. It doesn't recognize incoming calls, and outcoming calls are recorded, but the quality is very low and it records ambient sound too. It's very annoying

Also, try this setting:
Android Settings > Battery > Launch > Call Recorder - Manage manually + all sub-options enabled
This is how I configured it for myself, sorry for I didn't mentioned it earlier...
My today call history: 2 inbound + 2 outbound calls - all recorded properly. Device was locked when calls arrived.

I have all battery optimizations disabled, but app doesn't recognize incoming calls.
Anyway, thank you.

Same thing for me, all parameters are OK but there are no records, incoming or outgoing

News on 09/02 : I can record outgoing calls with the parameter mic2. Incoming calls are not recorded.

Yes, I call record incoming calls with several apks (ACR, call recorder scavalex, etc), but not incoming calls. A trick is click on the call recording app icon in the notification bar when you receive a call.

Ok, but which apk do you use for recording both calls by clicking on app?

Call recording issue, please help?

I have recently bought the OnePlus One from Amazon India. I want to have call recording on my phone. I tried many call recording software and most are able to record the calls absolutely fine both ways but with one major issue. In most of the recorded calls the voice of the other person get distorted if they speak a little louder or if they have a bassy voice, whereas my voice is recorded absolutely fine in very high quality. Is it a hardware or a software issue??? Also I don't hear the distortion during the call at all, its only in recording?

The reason is the the majority of the call recorders records the calls from MIC, so you need to switch to Loud speaker to record other party voice.
If you are rooted then try the Total Recall PRO app which records the calls directly from the line.
Try this, works perfect on my OPO

Eventhough the source is set to Voice they all record from MIC only unless you have a Purchased version of the App. In Total Recall you will get the 30 day trail which will give you the difference between other call recording apps and it. Are you rooted??

In the Purchased applications we have an Option like Root recording which will install a patch to Kernel, if you are rooted, which will record the calls from Phone line.
I advise you to reach Automatic call recorder customer service and report the issue. They might have a solution for your issue

I also have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which records just fine without any distortion and its not rooted. Also all the recording apps I have tried work perfectly with it, then why I need to root the OPO. I just want to know if its a hardware issue or just software issue as I have a total of 1 month to get it exchanged and 15 days are already over ???

The call recording depends on complete Kernel Support, Galaxy series has good kernel support for Call recording but for OnePlus, Cm11S you need to root and then patch the kernel to support the Call recording.

Call recording is done fine without root but with distortion in the callers voice and not mine as if the volume recorded for the other party is way too high. DO you mean to say that rooting and patching the kernel will normalize the volume levels for the caller???

The distortions in recording are because the recording tool is recording the voice from Mic rather than call line. To get the call line recording the Kernel has to support it.
So you 100% sure its not a hardware issue with my OPO and I need not return it?

Call Recorder

Hello,
Is there a way to have the option call recorder directly from the phone app?
So when I call or receive the call I have the option to start recording?
Thank you in advance for your help.
I use a program called "Automatic Call Recorder" by "Appliqato"
Doesn't need root and have used it since the S4 days.

If you don't mind answering, does it record via bluetooth, and does it use line in and out for regular (non bluetooth) to record or speaker?

There is a call recorder from BoldBeast that I have been watching closely.
http://www.boldbeast.com/
http://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1182-galaxy-s7-call-recorder.html
I am not endorsing the app and I am not associated with this app or the developer in any way and I have not tried it yet.
However, the developer claims that it can record individual calls, but I am not aware of how it integrates into the phone or dialer. I have been looking for a good, reliable, call recorder myself that offers full and clear recording options, the ability to record to SD card, and a good UI and phone integration. I used Call Recorder from Skvalex for years (rooted S4), but I'm not sure if it will work completely with an unrooted S7 or not. That's why I'm looking around. I want to make sure whatever I install works as advertised. I don't mind paying for a Pro version if it just works.
Another app Developer claims this works: Amazing Audio MP3 Recorder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stereomatch.mp3.audio.recorder
Again, I have not tried it and can not endorse it.
If you try any of these, please report back with a full review and let everyone know what works well and what maybe doesn't.
Good luck.

It records both sides of the audio call with out any issues (I have my audio source set to "mic") and also records correctly when I use my bluetooth headset, but you have to untick the Bluetooth option in settings (reverse logic)
It will automatically record incoming and outgoing calls, which is useful
I only use the free version, although really should buy the pro version to support the developer

Hello,
Thank you wootty2000 the app work fine.
I went ahead and installed BoldBeast call recorder and so far, it's working flawless. It's works with Bluetooth connections also.
So, we know there are at least 2 call recorders that seem to work fine.

What settings are you using. I have tried a couple different settings and every time I press record I completely lose audio in the call and have to hang up.

It worked perfectly on bluetooth. Both sides loud and clear. Thank you very much. Now to buy the premium version.
I use to have a rooted device and the recorder is always included as bake in. I miss those days.
I tried the ones mentioned earlier in this thread and they all worked... sort of. The audio they record is extremely low and lots of static/popping. I have to put the speaker up to my ear to hear the audio from the other person. My voice is much louder, but still not that great.

I have not experienced that with BoldBeast. Do you have the setting set correctly?
I have the same problem as 96cobra, I've used Automatic Call Recorder Pro flawlessly on my S5 for 2 years. I recently upgraded to the S7 and now it will only record my voice clearly, the other caller is completely distorted and crackly.
Also, it causes ALL audio on my phone to have a crackling sound. If I uninstall it, the audio distortion goes away.
Does anyone know of a systemwide equalizer or sound control app that I might be able to use to correct this issue?
change youre settings
Wow, what a helpful reply! Thanks

I've also tried the boldbeast one and its also pretty neat. I've used the configs written on the page scott posted (http://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1182-galaxy-s7-call-recorder.html) and it worked like a charm. But automatic recording is not free
Thanks mathiems, I just tried boldbeast and it appears to work so far.
It just sucks because I was invested in and liked Automatic Call Recorder Pro for the past two years.

call recording

Hey all.
I was using ACR app from Playstore to record all my phone calls natively from call source on Lollipop.
Since updating yesterday to marshmallow, the app cannot record calls anymore. The receiver voice isn't showing in the recording.
Does anyone face that too? Any way to fix it? Maybe an alternative?
Thx.
Nothing works for call recording in marshmallow
Thats why i moved back to lollipop

Call recorder for XZP

Hello guys, I would like to ask you if anybody is using some call recorder, pls. I have tried ACR (bought license to Pro version due to manual recording, but I can't make a call nor anybody can call me - it interupts calling within second so I can't even hear ringing tone). Thank you for your tips.
I'm using this app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=polis.app.callrecorder , it's free and sound quality is very good.
Thx for a tip, but I found out that provider had troubles for about 1 hour with network - and at the same time I installed ACR ^^. Now everything is just fine

Call Recording

Hello,
I was wondering if Call Recording is working for anyone with the US version of this phone. It is there, but whenever the call ends and I go into the call recording folder, I do not find anything in there.
If I do a simple voice recording, it works. But call recording does not work at all.
Thanks.

Native call recording ???
For the huawei mate 20 series we have an apk (from the chinese mate 20) and we have native automatic call recording. (Phone must NOT rooted) and its working perfect and automatic.
For the Zenfone 6 this not exist ? Or any other trick/idea ?
Greets, Peter
If you are rooted, you can use skvalex's call recorder (together with its magisk module). It is working for me.
