Oreo or Nougat - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I have C567B190 with Ephemeral ROM on it. I love it.
Should I go for Oreo or stay with Ephemeral ROM?

Stay with nougat oreo not stable on this moment
I tested oreo one week i think is not final release

more informations: -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/oreo-vs-nougat-t3736056
BTW: for me, OREO was/is the better choice.

Oreo is final and super stable!

my C567 on Oreo is very stable, some bugs I have been experiencing like the keyboard acting up on sms app or the fingerprint sensor not working right are now fixed, pretty flawless
However, its up to you if you want to stay on Nougat, are you having problems at the moment with it such as battery or stability? If not, stay with Nougat unless you want to be adventurous and play with Oreo you wont really see a huge difference in everyday usage IMO but YMMV

Been using Oreo beta since November.. SUPER stable.. no issues

Did anyone just stick with the stock Cyanogen OS?

I realise this is probably a bit of a controversial question to ask on XDA, however has anyone else just stuck with the stock Cyanogen OS on their OnePlus One?
I was thinking today when reading about Lineage OS I have pretty much kept my OnePlus One stock since i got it in July 2014, out the box Cyanogen OS had everything i'd otherwise flash a custom rom for. I did try some early Marshmallow roms around February last year, however due to various bugs I went back to stock and waited for the Marshmallow OTA.
These days i'd certainly take stability over having the latest and greatest version of Android. Of course I don't intend that as any disrespect to the developers on here, more than anything I think I just got tired of tinkering with my phone and have enjoyed just using it.
However I do plan on flashing Lineage OS in the future, which seems quite strange after not flashing a custom rom for almost a year.
It's great to see XDA is still going strong, even more so that the OnePlus currently has the most users of unofficial installs of Lineage OS :good:
My father does have the official builds hahahah we both have the opo but he's okay if it works, so keeping it simple is the best way for him.
As far as Cyanogen OS goes
It's bad and bloated
I tried to stay on it, and did for a bit when security updates were being applied
But had a bunch of reboots and overheating issues. Had to dump it.
Was on stock COS till today since i couldnt find a rom that suited my needs and passed safetynet. Today i flashed lineage OS official, everything is smooth and it passes safety net (i can now use my banking app while running nougat). So yeah today is the day i left COS and marshmallow
I don't even know why I'm still on official CyanOS. The screen time is dreadful. I think I'll give LOS a chance in the near future. It can't be any worse than 3-4 hours of screen time, what I'm getting now with official COS.
Cyanogen may be sold in the future and they can push harmful updates to your device, so I'd say updating is a very good choice.
I am keeping it. I would love that someone could recommend me a 6.0 rom alternative though, because can't switch to Nougat. MM has xposed and i need youtube background playback.
I do sometimes think maybe I should have stayed stock but then I think of all the fun I've had
Now I need my phone to work for calls and alarms as a minimum so take less risks now
I'm still on marsh 2.0 from way back last august
i would but cyanogen 13.1 has a problem with the mobile network.........

You can try Lucky Patcher. They have a custom patch for YouTube background playback. Works on Nougat. Hope this helps
For anyone who wants the best stable experience, I'd suggest sultanxda's CM13 ROM. May it be for girlfriends, dad's, whoever. That ROM will never fall behind.
Cheers.
Well I am still sticking with rooted cyanogen os. I have color camera, viper4android, Sony Media Apps like Walkman and xposed.
Can anyone enlighten me whether noughat build supports viper4android and a good camera mod like color os or cameranext mod? If so I don't mind installing it immediately..
I'm still on stock ROM, because I'm using NFC payments on the tube. Battery life with screen on is dreadful. I would upgrade in a heartbeat should there be any ROM that's signed by Google. Is there any hope to get that ?
My story sounds a lot like the OP. I got my OPO as soon as the invites started going out (I had signed up long before release) and I just couldn't wait to get it and start rooting and TWRPing and ROMing. I tried just about every ROM that was out there including OOS. But, as is often the case with enthusiast ROMS, there always seemed to be some little something somewhere that didn't quite work right. I also had terrible problems with the radios on almost all ROMs including the stock ROM. That got corrected during the second or third update though.
I have a lot of smartphones, so eventually, I moved onto other phones and other tinkering. Then one day, not too long ago, I wondered what it would be like to restore my OPO back to factory stock - no root; reset the tamper bit - and update to the latest official update - so I did.
I have to say that the OPO has never been as stable and reliable as it is in that condition. Best radio reception since I got the phone, silky smooth Android experience (even on two year old hardware), and rarely any crashes or FCs. Truly a STABLE phone.
But even as good as it is running now, I still worry about not getting any future updates and in particular security patches, so I will be looking to flash a good stable build of Lineage OS after reading up on other users' experiences.
Still have to say though that through all of my phones (Galaxy's, Lumias, iPhones, and everything in between), I'd still put my OPO up there with my trusted iPhone 6S for reliability and the "It Just Works" factor.
Hi! I'm running COS, the latest update i received via OTA. I'll wait for a stable build for Nougat, also, there are some xposed modules I cannot live without so i guess i wait for a little bit.

There's an unofficial Lineage OS 13 for our bacon, here in XDA. Stable no issues and xposed compatible

Revert Back To Marshmallow on American Tmobile S7?

I have an American Tmobile S7 and I just got the Nougat update the other day. There's no bugs or issues, I'm just not loving Nougat. The Marshmallow was a better user experience for me and I also liked the material design look better.
How could I revert back to Marshmallow? I read where I could use use a rom but then I would have to have my phone rooted and that is not possible, correct?
I thought about factory reseting my phone, but then I would constantly have that naggy T mobile upgrade notification in my drop down bar, right?
i love Nougat updated on mind i have not had not one issue with my Nougat updated i did a full wip after the updated too get ride of any bugs the Nougat updated has been grate for me
Factory resetting won't work. You will still be on Nougat.

Whats the difference between Xiaomi Global Dev vs Xiaomi.eu MIUI Weekly releases?

What is the difference between these two releases? Im quite confused.
They both look as though they offer OTA, the Xiaomi.eu one is SafetyNet certified which means Android Pay works.
Which is preferable to just have as a stable rom to leave on my phone and not worry?
I f you want rock solid stability and don't mind having Android Marshmallow, I would suggest staying on Global Stable and waiting for MIUI 9 which is supposed to come with Android Nougat pretty soon

Oh cool i didnt realize how soon it was coming, just searched. Thanks for the advice.... it also seems like much less of a pain to just upgrade to that vs flashing something new and setting up my phone again!

Liquid remix vs havoc OS

This might be a bit of difficult question but which rom do you prefer between the two?
I used havoc in it's early stages and it was great and still seems super solid but I'm tempted to come off the Android P beta and move back to either Havoc or Liquid. I see they are both similar but at the same time pretty different. I would love to hear about your experiences and thoughts on both.
Thank you!
For me its havoc
for some reason after setting up and restarting both roms get stuck on starting android and they dont support the notch

This happens when your using the fingerprint unlock feature when your device is encrypted. If you have a decrypted device then you won't get that Android is starting message that never ends when using the fingerprint to unlock immediately after reboot. And if your encrypted still it's easy to fix if it's happening. Just lock your phone again then unlock with pin and you won't have that problem. But if your want to use that feature then you must be decrypted. And I have no problem with the notch at all. Havoc is better by far everything is working including oos cam. Liquid still has features that don't work and haven't worked since it started being built on op5 and 5t and they are still present on op6 and I've notified them of this and they still don't bother to fix it. And these exact same issues are also present in franken cause it's a copy of liquid. I feel these devs don't focus on making sure all the features in their roms actually work. But havoc is flawless right now unless your want to complain about the notch which I have no issues with since I set smallest width to where everything fits fine without the notch intruding and the pie version is already being started.

Well I'm on the open beta. Also does havoc pass safety net and does it have face unlock I didn't test fully when I had it
Havoc has more customizations but more bugs. Liquid has less bugs but slightly less customizations. Havoc is based off Lineage and Liquid is based off AOSP. I enjoy both but for me Liquid is the best. Battery life is about the same on both. The gestures work better on Liquid then they do on Havoc. I'm currently running Liquid and it passes safetynet.

yes and yes. Safety net failures aren't the roms fault that was magisk itself because the API was out of date but with magisk 17 that's all fixed.
ASOP or LOS. If you prefer the former, go with Liquid. If you prefer the latter (as I do), go with Havoc.
Another option if you want the extra features of these custom ROMs, but also really prefer ? to Oreo is the Havoc ? treble (GSI) build. Havoc ? is currently based off of AOSP and not LOS as Lineage 16/? source code is not yet available. I am hoping that Havoc ? will switch back to a LOS base once Lineage 16 comes out and the source tree is published.

Comparison of Nougat and Oreo

Hi. I'm using XZ for a couple months with Oreo, everything except battery is fine. I read some stories about Oreo update on XZ and Premium that this update decreased the battery compared to Nougat. What do you think about it? Should i downgrade to Nougat? I'm a simple user that do not care about the Android version much.
What About Lag With Your Phone ?? My XZ Is Lagging Every time i don`t know what can i do ?

On Oreo, only lags while working with many apps (actually not so many but XZ's ram management is extremely bad). Try cleaning cache/data.
I downgraded my XZ (F8332) two or three days ago to Android 7.0 Nougat as the theming in Oreo isn't like in Nougat. However since I am so used to Oreo's UI I decided to update it to Oreo again. The user experience in Oreo is much better in Oreo in my opinion. And full theming is no longer a deal breaker for me.
