S8+ on CarHDROM with LTE/3G question. - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I have a an 8+, on CarHDROM v9, working excellently, and I'm using XAA/XAA CSC, which works great with AT&T service. I live on the very edge of tower reception, and am 'just' able to get a cell booster on the roof to pull in some signal, to 3'ish bars on 3G, which seems to work fine for texting, MMS and calling.
Here's the thing: I have my cell Network Mode set to: LTE/3G/2G (Auto). This setting works perfectly in town, after I get over the hills blocking the towers, closer to town. However, at home, the LTE/3G/2G (Auto) does not seem to grab the tower signal well, and will usually show no signal, unless I switch the LTE/3G/2G (Auto) to 3G/2G (auto connect), at which time, while at home, the signal again connects up ok.
What I am wondering is if there is some type of setting or setting file that I can tweak, some place, to get the LTE/3G/2G (Auto) to figure out that the LTE is not connecting up well, and to appropriately switch to 3G (better) when the LTE signal is poor?
Thanks for your help.

Please, anyone with know how?

3G control

I live in an area where my 3G signal strength is often 1 bar or below and is weak but my non 3G signal strength is 4 bars and strong.
Is there an app that I can use to set up when 3G cuts out and reverts to normal GSM signal.. I know I can set 3G to auto switch but it only cuts in when it feels like and often this means my phone is limbo with no 3G signal and no auto option to switch over to GSM and will often just drop my signal mid call at home.. or am I asking too much.. cheers..
When your 3G signal becomes weak it should automatically switch to GSM. If switching between the two is causing your phone to drop calls you can lock your phone to GSM only by changing it via the Comm Manager, tap on "change phone settings" and then "Band" on the bottom.
ok. cheers..

[Q] National roaming and slow switching back to home network

I am with a carrier (U) that supports 3g in limited areas, outside the coverage, I will be switched to another carrier (C), but only with EDGE connectivity.
I am living in the 3g coverage area, but somehow the car park is not covered, so everytime I go to my office car park, it switches to C, and when I am back in the ground floor and up, I noticed that sometimes its very slow in switching back to the carrier U.
I have called U up and they asked me to use the "Select Network Automatically" settings, but that doesn't seems to help much as sometimes even after 30 minutes it didn't switch back, until I go into the network settings.
I have noticed this too.
I an on Sprint. If my phone switches to 1x cdma (slow), it may not switch back to 3G if I am actively using data. I have to uncheck and recheck "data enabled" to bump it back. It seems to switch back ok if data is idle.
hmm, wonder if I could do something with tasker about this.

[Q] Force 3G only in field test

Hi..i owned a Lumia, but a bit frustrated when network keep switching between 3G and 2G.
i just want to stay only in 3G network..
have anyone test the field test by dialling "##3282"?
in there we can change 3G only.
But i didnt know it worked or not..
so far it doesnt change to 2G..
I too used the same test by dialing ##3282. In addition you have to toggle the ENS to OFF position (don't reboot).
When you choose 3G only. It exactly what it means, 3G only, not 4G (LTE) and NOT 2G either. So it will only connect to 3G and hence you are not getting 2G signal.
I wish there was a speed limit setting so we could avoid LTE rather than pure 3G only. Or choose 3G+2G together.

[Q] Setting network mode priority?

I noticed under "Network Mode" that you have four options: LTE, 3G, 1x, Global. Is there any other way to set a priority list (I was able to do this on my S3 with 4.3)? For example, my S3 would have the option "LTE/CDMA/EvDO". If there's LTE use it, if not use 3G or else use 1x. As it works now, when I'm at home I have to manually change it to "3G" so it will connect to my Airave, then "LTE" when I'm on the road.
Is there anyway to prioritize a list of network modes to use so that if LTE is unavailable it will go right to 3G?

2G issues (turn off 2g)

Hi,
is there any chance I can turn off 2g on a Samsung s6?
I am having conenction issues when the phone is connected to a 2g network. The conversation is not being established - rather than hearing someone I hear terrible humming noise. Telekom Germany confirmed with there call log, that everytime I am using 2G there is an error. I checked with a few SIM cards (issues with all tested Telekom SIM, O2 SIM cards in 2G work just fine- which is really odd)
When I am in a LTE network the calls are perfect. When I then manaually change to 2G the noise starts again. So there is no problem in a 3G or LTE network e.g. in large cities. In the countryside calling i snot possible. I would rather use a bad 3G connection or not call at all than usind 2G. Is there a hidden menue where I can disable 2G? In the regular menue it only works the opposite way (turn off 3G, LTE).
thanks
You can't disable 2G and use auto 3G/LTE.
But you can use only 3G, or use only LTE (you can't recieve calls if your operator & SIM doesn't support VoLTE).
