is there any chance I can turn off 2g on a Samsung s6?
I am having conenction issues when the phone is connected to a 2g network. The conversation is not being established - rather than hearing someone I hear terrible humming noise. Telekom Germany confirmed with there call log, that everytime I am using 2G there is an error. I checked with a few SIM cards (issues with all tested Telekom SIM, O2 SIM cards in 2G work just fine- which is really odd)
When I am in a LTE network the calls are perfect. When I then manaually change to 2G the noise starts again. So there is no problem in a 3G or LTE network e.g. in large cities. In the countryside calling i snot possible. I would rather use a bad 3G connection or not call at all than usind 2G. Is there a hidden menue where I can disable 2G? In the regular menue it only works the opposite way (turn off 3G, LTE).

You can't disable 2G and use auto 3G/LTE.
But you can use only 3G, or use only LTE (you can't recieve calls if your operator & SIM doesn't support VoLTE).

Hi..i owned a Lumia, but a bit frustrated when network keep switching between 3G and 2G.

in there we can change 3G only.

I too used the same test by dialing ##3282. In addition you have to toggle the ENS to OFF position (don't reboot).
When you choose 3G only. It exactly what it means, 3G only, not 4G (LTE) and NOT 2G either. So it will only connect to 3G and hence you are not getting 2G signal.
I wish there was a speed limit setting so we could avoid LTE rather than pure 3G only. Or choose 3G+2G together.

I am currently residing in Japan and was in the States on leave and got a SM-G900P, stock and rooted. It worked fine on Sprint networks.
Enter now, I am back in Japan, utilizing a Softbank iPhone 5 LTE USIM and APN. LTE works, but only when I force "LTE only" with Advanced Signal Settings, but I get errors when reconnecting to LTE (Errors 29 and 33). GSM will not connect in "auto", "GSM Auto", or "GSM Only", but GSM reads 35% strength and UMTS is fully functional. I can send/receive calls and texts fine. Will submit pics later.

Hello guys, i am from India. Here, I have activated airtel 3g and i am from Maharashtra state. Here, airtel network uses IDEA network for 3g packs as they don't own the spectrum. I kept my cell in 3g mode and "automatically select network", but it stays in 2g(Same doesnt happen in my note 2, using 3g in auto mode). If i manually select IDEA from the list of networks, it goes to 3g. I want to keep it on auto, like switch to 2g when 3g is not available. Settings are same. How to make it switch to 3g automatically. Preferred mode is 3g. Any problem in my handset?

I need to solve an issue pertaining to my Galaxy s6 duos. The problem is that sometimes my phone's sim 2 wont work, although it is registered on the network but it won't make a call or send a message neither would it receive a call or message. After i put the phone in airplane mode and switch it back online,then the sim2 starts working. Please help me in solving this issue. What could be causing this problem?
Hmmm set sim 2 only to 2G network and check if it losse connection... (I suspect when phone leaves a 4g area and it has to connect to 3g sometimes stuck at searching ...)
I have an issue that whenever i use mobile data on sim 2 it connects to 2g. I need all the time to go and change from 3g/2g to only 3g then back again to get 3g working. Also noticed that if 3g is not in range it switches to 2g but when its in range it does not automatically take 3g.

My phone is stock and unrooted on OxygenOS 11.1.5.5.AC01BA.
Although I can see the toggle to enable WiFi Calling, the menu item to allow me to select the WiFi Calling preference isn't there.
To expand on that, the option isn't there on SIM1 (3 UK), but it is there for SIM2 (O2 UK).
My main problem is that my house is right on the edge of 3's coverage, so the phone often tries to use the poor cellular signal rather than the good WiFi signal.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the WiFi Calling Preferences menu item to show for my 3UK SIM?

I have Orange and Vodafone and also have the option for calling pref only for sim2. Maybe it`s by design. Did you try swaping the sims?
Yes, I tried that but no luck. The option was then only available on SIM1.
I'm On 3 and only way to do it was put it into airplane mode WiFi calling works fine. But obviously no what's app sms etc
