Hi guys , i know we should have dual cameras to have the bokeh effect on our s8+ but is there any other way to get that.. like manual mode ? If so can u tell me how? Thanks in advance
There is manual mode in Pro (mode), also you can use selective focus to have bokeh kinda effect
with pro mode or with selective focus mode, you cant get bokeh effect.. you only can background blur effect. these are totally different things.and unfortunatelly, we cant get original bokeh effect without dual lens. we can fake (with software) bokehs.

Is there any chance of getting portrait mode or hdr or both working on this device with modded google camera?
Anyone can tell in mate 9 oreo update front camera have portrait mode with bokeh or not ?
It doesn't.
it have portrait mode , and when it is turn on he make some kind bokeh , not perfect , but it work
Yes it does, but it's not very accurate at detecting the edges
No
So weird issue with my new p40 pro. It’s on version 10.1.0.114, and all HMS apps latest update.
However when i open the selfie camera to take a portrait mode pic, it doesn’t do any background blur - UNLESS I go to effects and click on one of the other effects, such as lights or hearts etc.
Anyone else having the same? Have tried a factory reset but still same issue. Wasn’t doing this on Software 10.1.0.109 i think.
wanted to help you but my software is still at 10.1.0.109
I was reading somewhere about portait from front camera is without bokeh. Bokeh is only on rear. I did myself selfie and i dont have bokeh too from front camera. But im not sure on 100%

I've seen lots of reviews that post front camera pictures with bokeh effect. The ToF sensor makes this possible. So: bokeh is not only for the rear camera. Try the portrait mode option on the front camera.

Youre right. Tested it and bokeh is visible but really low
https://www.dxomark.com/huawei-p40-front-camera-review/
Check here. They said bokeh is visible but really low in front camera
I don't think so. No difference at all between portrait mode or photo mode without the effect filter turned on for selfie. Looking at the reviews there is noticeable bokeh on further objects. I'm not seeing that unless I turn on circles in effects for example.

This also happens on my Mate 20 Pro. I always have to choose an effect, otherwise, the background isn't blurred.
question, does those effect have a special purpose cause i do not notice it, i only notice blurs
Hi all, can someone verify this for me?
There are two cameras on the Mi Mix 3 yes?
One is the normal (wider) angle camera, and the other a more telephoto camera?
So, covering the top camera should give me a black screen (finger on it) when I use 1x zoom?
And switching to 2x zoom will give me a clear shot? (finger not on it)
I realise that this isn't happening anymore and 1x and 2x have images coming from the lower camera. Is this by design? Am I misunderstanding the idea of the two cameras?
Has the latest MIUI update broken something or was this how the camera works all this time?
As far as I can tell, every mode uses the bottom lens, regardless of zoom. Only portrait mode uses the top lens.
it's working fine, but i think you just need to go into pro mode and switch lens manually if you want to use tele, otherwise it's switching back and forth on it's own just tried it.
did more tests and it seems that the lens does indeed switch to the telephoto lens now once i zoom past 2.0x in the default photo mode. i also discovered that if it detects an obstruction in the 2.0x lens, it will fallback to the wide lens with a poor digital zoom. (I put my finger on the telephoto lens to check if it was working)
