PX3 2gb MTCE no call audio - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I got an px3 MTCE, and everything seems to work fine except:
No call audio when connected via Bluetooth.
Cannot connect to OBDII
Anyone else experience this? Would flashing a custom ROM help?

Hi I had mic issue with the same device. I had to restart it totally. So not just put it in sleep when engine is off but with res button holding it for couple of minutes until it totally restarts. You can connect to OBDII however not with torque app but with dashcommand. that also not alway wants to connect. if it happens go in settings app force close, and start app again. hope i could offer some help

Fortunately, that is not the issue I'm having with the audio. The mic in fact works just fine -- The people I call confirm they can hear me just fine, I just can't hear them. I'll try dashcommand.

Hi. Did you solve this as i am having the exact same issue. Thanks.

In my case, i have an amplifier
I rewired, my cables, I cut the cables of my head unit harness So, you have to connect the fronts cables to the rears,so the whites go on the greens, and the grays on the purple (respect the polarity) and job done.

gingerbread car bluetooth bug, seeking confirmation from others

Since I updated from XXKB3 froyo 2.2.1 to GB 2.3.3 & later to 2.3.5 I found that Bluetooth is broken & I am not the only one but still needs confirmation from i9003 users on this.
Bluetooth is broken on Gb roms I test on 2 version but both were custom roms but my guess is that its the base GB rom which has this bug.
Car bluetooth does not connect fast enough
later I found that its trying to download /access phonebook which it never does.
on every connection it ask for permission to access to phonebook, if you allow it fails to connect, if you cancel then only it connects.
once connected you can stream music but sound drops every 10 sec & same happens to phone call sound.
I deleted & reset both devices & manually paired BT then downloaded the phonebook manually to car but now it hangs & shows downloading call history log & never finishes it.
I tried connecting to other bluetooth phones but that also fails, it connects but cant transfer files & remains hanged.
Due to this problem I cant use gps Sound navigation while driving, nor can I stream music nor I can use phone while driving. Need to report this bugs to developers to find some solution.
Those who have this phone can you please test bluetooth & confirm, please mention your FW when you report here.
Here are few link on google which I found having similar issues since GB update.

Updated Summary of these BT bugs
Car BT ask permission to access phone book at first pairing if you choose yes it never downloads teh contacts & hangs. After that every time I start BT, it ask permission to access phone book if given access it hangs over & over again.

if I switch off the car & take the key out (switching the radio completely off) then BT connection force reboots the phone automatically. To avoid this I have to manually switch the BT off then switch the engine off, next time I start the car I have to switch ON the BT once again.

Has the car bluetooth connection bug been sorted out in this rom or is it still the same problem?

The only difference I think car BT has is that it downloads/access to phone contacts & call history & that is the step where it hangs the BT.
Car BT has following feature.
I can actually call my contact using voice command (voice compatible BT only)
I can see history /last missed/dialed/received call on car BT screen without going to phone.
I can watch youtube/local SD card videos / live TV channels via 3g internet & the sound is connected to car speakers, its like a mini home theater in the car.
Using sound navigation with car speakers while playing /streaming music from phone, if the call comes I can take call by steering mounted controls or using Voice command (Vlingo "take the call"), in this case the navigation screen will go in background & music/sound automatically muted, as I finish the call all sound comes back, gps navigation back to the same screen as it was & this all happens me driving at 120 kmph on highway.
For me this is an important feature as I travel a lot & I am really frustrated with GB, I will try the DDKP2 as last if that also fails then I have no option but to revert to XXKB3 as it worked without any such problem, it had few bugs but those are now been modded by few developers.
I need GB as 2-3 of apps which I use will only work on GB but I don't thing using these apps are more important than using sound navigation & BT music streaming.
i also have the problem with the bluetooth it connects to another phones and computer....
but my phone is not connecting to my car's bluetooth to play songs... it shows " pairing declined " or "connection cannot be established"
@sirilpta
Delete the paired devices from car & phone both
now initiate BT pairing fresh
once paired > click to connect
i9003 will ask via notification saying car BT wants to access phone book
say no to it
now it will connect in 10 sec & you can stream music
trouble starts after 2 mins the sound will go off every 10 sec
go to car BT menu there you will see accessing phonebook or call history (That's the bug)
since you disallowed access to phonebook yet its trying to connect.
i tried to pair but it shows pairing declined

I just found a temp solution, as long as screen is On the music streaming works fine so I have set it to 10 min & there was no interruption in streaming within those 10 mins. but this bug is making me seriously go back to XXKB3 if DDKP2 dont work.
I am told that BAM custom kernal V12 onwards the blue tooth bug has been sorted out but for that I will have to reflash a clean rom & flash the kernel, will report back once I do that next week.
Try using BCK Custom kernel by XDA_Bam, in that kernel bluetooth problems are resolved

Tab, utter!, Google now, and wired headphones problem

Hello,
Has anyone had luck using the app utter and wired headphones (no mic) on the tab? I can get the app to work flawlessly with a bt headset, or over speakers, but when I use wired headphones, after the app starts listening I lose all sound. Music, nothing. Problem goes away when I unplug headphones. Tried three different roms, all fresh installs with only the apps required for utter to work.
I have a Galaxy Nexus that doesn't have this problem. I'm starting to think it might be a hardware problem.
Can anyone provide any insight? Or at least tell me if they are having the same issue or not?
Thank you.

The only reason I don't accept that yet is because it works until it asks me to talk and starts listening. Google Now does the same thing. It looks like the audio stream gets confused. With no headphones plugged in, I hear the beep signalling me to start talking. When I use the headphones, I never hear the beep. And again, everything goes back to normal when I unplug the headphones. I can even start the process without headphones, plug headphones in halfway through the tablet talking to me, and hear everything fine, UNTIL it starts listening again.
I don't know much about the software side. Could this be a kernel issue? Being as now I know it's not just the Utter! app, but also Google Now.

Cannot play audio over USB with the Mate 8? Is it possible?

Hey there, hopefully someone can offer some insight here. I just recently got a Mate 8 and something that I did frequently with the Note 4 I had before was play audio in the car via the usb connection to my stereo. I am not able to do this with the Mate 8.
It ACTS like it's playing audio, but there's just no sound coming from the stereo or from the phones speakers. I can still change songs and play/pause it via the car stereo controls, however, which is also weird. In the developer usb options it's listed as "Audio Source", and trying to choose a mode for file transfer from the notification just causes USB to disconnect and reconnect and go back to not having anything selected. It didnt work on unrooted, unmodified, stock firmware (chinese B156), and it still doesnt work after I fully wiped all data and flashed a custom rom (KangVIP Slim).
Any ideas? Has anyone else successfully played audio over usb with their mate 8? Thanks guys.

I own a Kenwood Excelon DPX791BH. It has two modes, one which plays local files using its android app and displays the song info on the unit and one which just plays back any audio from the phone at all, both do the exact same thing (act like they're playing, and respond to controls from the unit.) Interestingly, in the file playback mode the current time indicator on the head unit seems to run through the file at double speed. It happens with any audio, notifications or Spotify or local files, etc.
Have you tried with USB debug ON or OFF?

Where are stored your audio files? Internal memory or microSD?

the main thing i use it for is just the routing audio mode, which is independent of the location of the files. It basically functions like how a pair of headphones would if you connected it to the headphone jack and plays any audio that is produced by the phone. I've tried playing audio from the SD card and internal storage, however.
Have you tried the Mate 8 USB connection mode as MTP?

yeah, as I said in the initial post selecting either of the two USB connection options from the notification, MTP or PTP, causes the device to quickly disconnect and reconnect with neither selected.
Maybe there is an incompatibility with Android 6.
If you can you could try to connect another Android 6 smartphone.

The compatibility problem might reside in your car stereo, you might find other users of your same unit to contact on a Kenwood car stereo dedicated forum.

If anyone else can confirm audio out via USB is possible on the mate 8, then that would be the next step, as the head unit has worked with other phones in the past, and still works with my note 4. Right now asking here seems like the best idea. Hopefully someone can confirm or deny usb audio out is a possibility with the mate 8

Under developer options there's a setting to enable USB audio source. The toggle is under network then select USB configuration. Not sure if this will help but worth a shot

Question Joying Zlink (CarPlay) and an inability for anyone to hear me over voice calls

Hey all,
Anyone have a solution for callers not being able to hear you when the call is taken through CarPlay over Zlink on a Joying head unit? My head unit is: JY-VO133N4. When I unplug my phone I'm able to have phone calls work great over blue tooth, so this appears to just be a Zlink/CarPlay issue. I can hear the caller perfectly, they just can't hear me.
Edit, they actually can hear me, but I come through with very low volume and with static, I'm undiscernable on their end.
Possible that it's trying to use the mic on your phone and not on the HU. I've done tests and this is what mine does. Where is your phone when driving?

Have same problem. zlink use phone mic?
I have the same problem, try to rec an whatsapp audio and listen after, It sound same when you make the calls and I think and the sound is too looow and pooor. My bluetooth calls are great!!! what could be the problem?
Same problem here, which got worse after updating to IOS 14.8.
I can hear all people very clear, BUT they hear me very far and distant (so it is of no use).
It is NOT a hw mic issue, nor a headunit issue, because when I kill Zlink and use the audio unit's bluetooth, all works perfectly.
My bluetooth audio works fine, It is a pity that the calls do not work, it is the only thing need for work perfectly
I know this thread has some age to it, but I recently started having the same problem that while using CarPlay through zlink, any phones calls, no one could hear me, but mics worked when connected to android BT. Also worked connecting a Samsung phone through android auto. Only occurred using iPhone and CarPlay. Been going on for a few months and couldn’t for the life of me figure it out.
Even updated to iOS 15 and same problem.
Today I finally got it working!!
This is what I did. Hope it helps others.
Connect to the unit and let zlink connect and go into CarPlay.
From within CarPlay, open google maps.
Press the microphone button in the bottom corner of google maps. You should get a pop-up saying that you have to allow google access to the microphone.
Immediately look at your phone, you should have a request on the iPhone to allow google access to the microphone.
ALLOW IT!
Then press the microphone button again in google maps. It should now allow you to use voice for searching.
Now go place a phone call!
This solved the problem for me. Hope it helps others.
Thought I'd found a solution but there was no microphone button on CarPlays Google Maps

Pixel 3 a Q Beta 5 Android Auto Volume Low

Anyone have issues with low volume with android auto. My 3 XL works fine, proper volume etc....But with my 3a whenever I try and play music the volume is very low. I have to turn the head unit volume all the way up to even hear it.
I tried a different cable, resetting car and phone. etc
If yours is good are you on Pie?
Thanks
Direct connection or via Bluetooth?
If Bluetooth, there is a setting in the developer settings called "Disable absolute volume". Click that and it may fix your Bluetooth volume issues.

Reported. Still an issue on DP6.
Edit: please star it if you experience the issue as well.
I have a Pixel 2 XL and have the exact same issue. Started having the issues in DP5 and it's continuing into DP6. I also just got my phone replaced yesterday by Google for a screen burn, so the first thing I did was update to Q and check to see if it was maybe the old phone, but nope, even with a straight from factory phone with new install of Q it's no different. Starred your post in issuetracker
Found a Reddit article with a work around for this issue. It worked for me so maybe it will work for you! In developer settings change the below Bluetooth setting to 1.6 and reboot phone and try again.

Odd a Bluetooth setting fixes USB audio routing. Audio through BT is fine in the car, only when routing through USB it is low. Will try next time I drive my in-law's car.

I agree it is odd. However after thinking about it a little when using android auto it requires your phone to be connected via bluetooth at the same time. Even if you un-pair your phone and turn off your bluetooth android auto turns bluetooth back on and pairs your phone to your car.(Atleast with mine that is)
But I have been having success since Friday now after making that change so hopefully it helps you out as well!
I saw the suggestion of that during DP5 and tried that and there was very little difference for me switching to 1.6
