I have the MOTO Z2. Its a pretty decent phone and I don't have any issues other than this: When the phone goes to sleep (black screen) and I say "OK Google" to wake it up, it asks for my passcode to continue. I already know that in these circumstances you must:
1. Go to Security & Location > Trust Agents > Smart Lock and turn it off
2. Reboot the phone
3. Go to Security & Location > Trust Agents > Smart Lock and turn it on
This will allow it to work for maybe 48 hours until it loses its mind again. Sorta counter to the "hands free" mode.
I just upgraded to Android 8. Guess what? Its still broken exactly the same way! Perhaps I am missing something that could correct this? Any suggestions?

I tried looking around and could not find anything.
Is there a tool/app/tweak that prevents certain applications to show the lock screen after a certain amount of time?
I am trying to use Google maps and iGo8 and the device keeps going to the lock screen. I have enabled the option for keep backlight on in iGo but it still does this
bump...kind of impossible to use the sat navs with this happening lol
I turned my security feature off so i dont put a pin in anymore to unlock screen, and so far the screen no longer goes into standby while in igo8 or google maps. This may work for you?
I turned the pin off to test it but it still goes into standby with the lock screen showing up. Also the screen dimming is another thing.
Tomtom so far is the only GPS app that prevents the device from going into standby for me
Vanilla solution:
Go to power settings, uncheck "Turn device off if unused for X minutes".
Better solution:
Install AEBPlus. You can bind a key to turn that feature on/off simply.
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with LRX21O on my Nexus 5 32 GB. I installed it on day one and everything went fine. I was able to press the power button to get to the lockscreen then either swipe right to phone, left to camera, or up to unlock, or just leave it alone to re-lock after checking my notifications.
I then turned on a PIN lock under security and played with it a bit to see if it could use my FitBit One as a Smart Unlock device (no dice because it doesn't do a bluetooth pairing, it just syncs). So... I turned the PIN back off.
I now have no lockscreen. Pressing 'power' just sends me straight to whatever was happening when the screen turned off. I've tried turning various screen lock methods on and off and goofing with it that way, but I can't get a password-free lockscreen to show up again! ARGH!
EDIT: NEVER MIND I'M AN IDIOT
I had been chosing 'none' instead of 'swipe' because I went to a list called security->screen lock and was figuring it was a "security" setting (swiping does not equal security). I somehow did not see Swipe even though I looked at the screen with Swipe on it like 47 times.
I want to know if it's possible to disable the option to turn off the phone from the lockscreen (it doesn't even request that you input the pattern, pin, etc) because if the phone get's stolen and you want to locate it through device manager for example, the thief could easily turn off the phone thus preventing you from finding it. It just seems like a major security flaw to me...
...because it's impossible to turn off the phone using the hardware buttons or pulling the battery.
Questions go in Q&A.
Smart locks place detection works fine, but after a while It forgets that I've memorized trusted places and stops working.
The circle is still there, but I need to insert the password, go to Smart Lock's trusted place settings and the locations reappear, to make Smart Lock work again.
I think that the issue aren't soft locks (circle is still there) but the fact that the memorized locations disappear after a while and reappear only when I go and check them out.
Also, sometimes Google Play Services stops while I'm trying to do so
Has anybody got any ideas? Would reinstalling Google Play work?
I use low battery location mode and Greenify (I press the power button to lock the screen tho, and I've already tried disabling it, I don't think the issue's caused by that)
Assistant was coming on all the time. It was always "looking things up" even if, from the TV. It was driving me nuts, so I turned it off. Well now, the f#$% thing ask me to turn it on every time I unlock the phone. Please help. I want the guy that decided this to fall down a well; It's insane.
The phone became unusable. The pop-up asking me to turn on came up constantly, sometimes not even visible, but it has focus, and prevented me from using the phone. I was able to fix this by stopping and disabling the google app, but now I can't even use voice when using Android auto, which I was able to do with just the assistant off. Google may be making Android unusable without assistant.
You may press assistant button by accident
You can turn the button off in System >>> gesture
In addition, you can cut the button on the case to flat to avoid misoperation
I suggest disabling assisant entirely, along with Google app.
