Ordered a universal one with wall attachment and car attachment and when I connect the USB to microUSB cord the phone doesn't charge. Ordered another stand alone car charger and it, also, doesn't charge. If I attach the USB cord that came with the phone to the wall/car charger it charges fine. Both, specifically said for the "Nexus One". Is it an amp issue? Most microUSB charger in the mall cell phone kiosks won't charge it either. Is it a proprietary microUSB cord that I need or a matter of amps or something?
Why not buy from Monoprice.com?!
I ordered 8 USB cords (2/each of 4 different lengths), 2 Car Chargers, and 2 Wall chargers. All work perfectly fine, and I paid under $25. (Wife has a CLIQ, so we got plenty to work for both of us.)
So, I don't know what your issue is... Other than just not going to Monoprice

well I havent ordered from monoprice since customers got slammed with bogus charges... i guess i could give them another try though, but still... kinda weary
Why? I had over $1300 attempted to be spent at Newegg, and my CC company called me and stopped the charges. Got a new CC in the mail the following day. Some random amount at Apple as well. LOL. Fun times.
(Yes, it happened to me. I'm fairly confident it was from the same issue as others..) But, that doesn't stop me from using a company that makes good products, expecially when they just made such a big mistake. Odds are, it won't be happening again for a long while
Either way... Those are risks with online shopping. You just have to make sure that your method of purchase has fail-safes.
I have a CRAP load of mini USB chargers (all HTC stock) and didn't want to buy more. I bought a bunch of Motorola mini to micro adapters off Overstock.com for $2 a piece and couldn't be happier. I also bought the official Google cradle to avoid additional wear and tear on the microUSB port.

I bought a car/home charger from eBay when I had my Motorola Cliq, and my home charger would keep going on/off charging. I later found out that it was the voltage issue, where the charger was giving a maximum of 5 amps and the Motorola Cliq needed 5.1V or something like that.
But most chargers I've bought don't power the Nexus One. What specific voltage or amps should I look for it to have? The two I bought off of eBay specifically said they were for the Nexus One. Neither worked. Sellers are putting any micro SD chargers up for sale assuming they will change the phone. They will not. What technical spec will tell me if it really will charge it?
Could someone post a link to a USB charger that absolutely works? I just bought another one from Best Buy that doesn't charge the Nexus. Made by Rocketfish and is suppose to be universal.
Thats really wierd. Every charger i've tried works fine.
You're charger should be outputting 5V and anywhere from 300mA upwards. There is no max mA limit because the phone will only draw what it needs.
This might sound patronising, and I really dont mean it to, but when you say doesnt charge how do you know?
Do you mean from totally flat it won't turn the phone on and start charging it, or do you mean when the phone is on the battery indicator doesnt show a charging, and the LED doesnt go orange/green?
Or do you mean it never charges to full?
When I plug it in it's as if nothing happens. No light, no thunderbolt symbol on the battery, no screen wake-up, nothing. Nada. Now, the HTC wall charger and usb charger work fine. But if a MicroUSB charger calls itself "universal" it does not mean it will charge the Nexus. The HTC HD2 charger my wife has works fine on the Nexus though.
Hmm strange.
The charge process works like this:
- Charger plugged in causes voltage change on +ve USB line - potential charger detected.
- Phone draws minimal current (50 to 100mA) and tries to negotiate USB power
-- If that suceeds it tries to increase power to 500mA if the USB port supports it. If yes charging starts at 500mA, if not charging starts at 100mA
- If USB negotiation fails, it checks if D+/D- are bridged.
-- If D+/D- are bridged, the phone draws as much current as it can/needs
-- If D+/D- are not bridged, the phone draws a max of 500mA
There's nothing special about the chargers unless they have been wired in some special way for a specific phone. Thats why I'm very surprised these chargers dont work.
I know that if I chop a USB extention cable and cut out D+/D-, my nexus charges at 500mA. I've tried this myself for a totally different purpose. Thats no different to ground and power being wired to a 5v source.
Odd, I have three car USB adaptors and two AC USB adaptors.. All charged the phone, although only the AC charger shipped with the Nexus would do a fast charge, and none of my car chargers would. I found one that was rated 1Ah and soldered the two middle pins, now it works as a fast charger too.
The Motorola P513 car charger (OEM designed for a Droid) gives out 950mA, is super cheap (~$3+shipping), and works great for a fast charge with the Nexus One.

Thank you sir. I've been trying to find a car charger that guarantees a fast charge.
Just ordered one from Play.com for £3.99 w/ free shipping.
Maybe now I can use GPS for more than an hour...
I dunno.
My motorola charger for my old bluetooth (H780?) works fine, as well as the original google charger. I also have a car charger for my old bluetooth as well.
My suggestion, is to only buy name brand chargers?

This one is good : [Qualcomm Certified] Tronsmart® Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Car Charger
Opt among 1 output, 2 output or 3 output. However, please note that only 1 output port supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. Rest 2 are fast, however, not QC 2.0 Fast.:good:
what is it i need one ?
Check slickdeals. I've been using the $5 one (on sale). It outputs 12v so it charges the phone very fast.

Thanks for that. slick deals is having a promo on this.
However i was wondering s6 edge plus is not qualcomm based, instead exynos.
I was considering this one.
http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-Charger-Adapter-Smallest-Powerful/dp/B00M6QODH2
This is 2.1amp, and is the smallest, it can virtually snap right into your car charger port, without the protruding charger popping out.

Technology is same. High Volt, low Ampere. Any QualComm Certified QUick Charger would be compatible with Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging. Atleast any branded ones, never go for any unheard brands. Usually Tronsmart, Aukey and Anker are good choices in average budget. Here's a video review I did for Tronsmart Adapter (Quick Charge) with my Edge+ :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR8W9ozZgAs
Also, please note that I have no affiliation with any of these brands, I just received a product for the review from Tronsmart and I found it really good. And I'm sure Aukey and Anker are equally good.:fingers-crossed:
Also, the Car Charger you are considering isn't fast charging compatible. Although it will not take much time with high Amp output (as specified), but its definitely not a fast charger.
Well, I am using CHOETECH’s Dual USB Car Charger with a dedicated port certified by QUALCOMM’s quick charge 2.0 technology so that I can charge my S6 Edge plus at quick charging rate even on the go. The main specialty of this charger is that it is not only charge the fast charging devices but also Apple devices like iPad Air 2 or iPhone 6 plus at much fast rate as compared to their original charger. You can consider to buy this from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YX7Y3G8/

Thats very good info. Charging technology is evolving with the phones, and thats a very positive start.
The day is not very far when we might have multi thousand mah of battery juice and charging becomes a weekend job.
Do you mind taking notes while charghing 20% of battery with both the qualcomm fast charge, and the regular 2.1amp charger.
I've already placed an order for the Aukey 4.8A / 24W Dual USB Car Charger mainly because of the size. I'd really want a charger that can **** plush within the car's charging port.

Charging isn't a very quantitative process. First 20% of charging would never be same as next 20% of charging. Usually with fast charger, the first 20% would be amazingly fast while the regular 2.1 amp might take upto 1.5 - 2 times the time. Also, assuming two different devices have same sized battery, with the same charger, one might get 70% charged within 30 min while the other can get 80% charged. However, by the end of 100%, both might take similar time. Thats why, the % readings aren't very consistent or dependable. Its approximation. With 2.1 Amp charger, you won't loose much time, trust me. Also, I don't have the facts, but I have noticed that when I do the fast charging, battery drains out marginally quicker than when I charge through regular 2 Amp charger. Hope that helps.. :fingers-crossed:

Thanks that was good info. I've received my 2.1Amp Aukey charger.
I tried it yst evening while commuting back home from work, which is about 20min drive, and the phone was at at 50%, and it was able to charge about 30% in less than 30 mins. Looks promising. I love the form factor. you cannot evne see the charger plugged into the car port. Best of all, the car port's cover covers the entire charger when not charging, this way i dont even have to remove the charger jack every time i have to charge the car, just pluck out the wires, and snap the cover back to conseal the charger.

With constant gaming and videos watching (after working hours ofcs ), mine doesn't stay beyond a day. I'm very happy with that though. I have seen significant different in battery life when I keep the power saving mode on and it doesn't really impacts my gaming at all even though it says that power saving switches to the 1.5 ghz cores and stays that way...!
It doesn’t matter a lot but yeah the main thing is internal circuit and the premium component used in the manufacturing. All of the chargers integrated with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 chip inside. But the best components used in the manufacturing plays a vital role. I can trust CHOETECH more in this area as they are offering 18 months warranty, which means they are confident about what they produce or deliver to their consumers.

Forget about the cheap charger, even with my Samsung Wireless Charger, the S6 Edge+ won't charge. Look at this: https://youtu.be/SfiGk6C3Yso
I bought a 60 dollar stand up charger at best buy and it works great! I had to take the Samsung one back it just blinked. Three days on this stand up one and no problems!
My old samsung wireless charger works. This one
There are still high quality wireless chargers at reasonable prices. Read the reviews before giving it a shot.
i have a problem and need solution
I have the old Nokia Charger and it works fine with and without the case.
Wireless charger...isn't it a new concept to rob money from our pocket? For me, I would prefer to stay with wall charger
For the record, THIS charger does the same thing with my S6 Edge +. I can actually sit here and watch the battery drain while allegedly charging.
I use a Choe Stadium 3 coil and it charges my phone insanely fast.
That sucks. I bought few Nokia DT-900 when they were on sale for $6. It charges my phone just fine.
I use this wireless charger with the adapter and power cord that came with the s6 edge+. Works very well. Works with my galaxy s5 also. Lugulake wireless charger

Wireless charging is cool if the charging speed could be improved, i guess that's why Samsung use 10w wireless charger this time, 2 hours with wireless charging compared with 1.5 hours with wired charging, charging speed would not be a big concern anymore.

I totally agree. And I also notice that some brands start adding quick charge function on power bank, if that happen, we don't have to take 1 to 2 days to charge a 20000mAh power bank anymore, so excited for that.
I was waiting for some 3rd party company to come up with a fast wireless chargers. Finally here's one : http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Lighting-Qi-Enabled-Adaptive-Included/dp/B015351V9U/

I bought the same one, it charges ok.. But nothing fancy..
I would only use one if you go through cords a lot.. It doesn't charge too fast.. But if your tired and don't want to fiddle with a cord or in my case I go through cords a lot for some reason.. It's nice to just put it down and forget it..
The downside to Wireless charging is over time the heat generated can actually damage your battery.. So better stick with the fast charger...
I bought a decent Samsung Knock off charger with the Samsung logo on it.. It works just as the OEM.. Lucky me..
The specs show it charges at 1A (1000mA), which is not fast at all.
100% Brand New,High Quality!
High power, quick-acting charging
Short-circuit protection of the receiver to avoid overcharge & overheating, security and reliable
Ultrathin, lightweight and portable, good for using at home, office, public area, etc
Note: Please make sure the hungry device is put in the magnetic inductive center and not askew when wirelessly charging
Specification:
Wireless charging standard: Qi standard
Power: 10W
Wireless distance: 5mm
Input: 5V 2000mA
Output: 5V 1000mA

The S6 can not fast charge wirelessly so there is no point in spending more money for a fast wireless charger. You can save your money and get a regular wireless charger.

i got a "knockoff" samsung wireless charger puck type and it doesn't charge fast because i didn't know that the s6 did not support fast charging wirelessly!
the only issue i had was every time the display went out the wireless charging would stop and wake the display then start charging.
fixed this with an app called dock station
I went for an Anker qi wireless charger and it is perfect. It's like a small hockey puck and works a treat! Under £10 as well [emoji106]?
I have a basic cheap qi charger I used with my last phone, never had an issue. With my Mi 10 Ultra it only charges correctly like 1/10 times when I place it down on the charger. The weird thing is it shows it's charging, the pad and phone get warm which means electricity is flowing somehow, but the phone drops in battery instead of charging... I don't even know what to say or do. Kind of tempted to buy that 55w wireless charger though.
I had a similar issue but found that I had a few stock apps going in the background draining the battery quicker than it could charge (it was a cheap low wattage charger). Force closed the apps and killed a couple of processes and it steadily increased. Not ideal but I took that as a sign of using a cheap wireless charger.
Still on the stock chinese Rom until I get out of unlock jail so if you're on the EU Rom this might not help.
I bought the 55W wireless charger with my phone and it's brilliant.
I tested my previous Samsung 15w wireless charger & Huawei 15w charger with the Ultra and the charging speed was a trickle (according to Accubattery app) and near unusable on the phone so will probably go for the Xiaomi 55w charger from Aliexpress which some sellers seem to be offering the 65w charging brick with.
Will sell the 2 chargers I have whci should pay for the replacement
Does anyone have a source other than aliexpress/baba for the 55w wireless charger? I don't want to wait over a month for it.
Eh... I found other sites where it cost more and took longer to ship. I decided the fastest way to get it was to buy it from the fastest shipping seller on aliexpress and not delay any more
mine seems to have stopped saying fast charging when using my wireless charger, possibly since moving to the EU rom.
Just as proof this phone has something fundamentally wrong with its Qi charging compatibility, the charger only draws 2-3w from the wall when it's not working right. It uses 8+ when it's charging right. That's not the charger. The phone is doing something wrong.
2-3w appears to be what it draws when it's doing the detection algorithm to make sure it's compatible and will accept a charge. It does the same thing on my old s20+ but then goes up in wattage when it's actually charging to 9+.
I am using the 20W wireless car charger together with the 55W wireless charger (with 65watt GAN charger), and both of them works fine and fast. Just to beware that the car wireless charger is quite heavy and may stress your AC vents.
Something has definitely changed since moving to the EU rom. On the CN rom, it would activate the fan in my Huawei charger and say fast charging, now no fan and no fast charging.
Have you added it as a bug on the EU forum. It's ok noting it here but it needs to go on the bugs list to be noticed
