My Gear S3 Frontier updated 2 nights ago, and after completion, rebooted and all worked fine. When I turned my phone off and then restarted it, the watch can not see the phone, and the wireless is not working. I have tried the "Wireless Download" mode, but my PC wireless and Net Odin do not see the watch. With the wireless Access point not available, is there any way i can re flash this. I may have read somewhere that there is a micro usb port inside the watch,. if that is true, has anyone used this to reflash. Any help gratefully received. The watch works fine as a watch and health monitor, but without the connectivity to the phone etc its pretty much useless.
You read my posts...
And you found this post?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73503787&postcount=150
And you watched the Videos in this Post?
And you downloaded netOdin with Instruction inside... from Samsung R&D...
?
I moved from my standard PCs to old Notebook... with internal WiFi... and also used Fritz USB Stick...
To prevent changing my Network config...
Suggestion...AFTER watching Videos and looking into netOdin Document...
Try other PC or Netbook with WiFi...
It is not impossible... but little bit tricky...
But I am pretty sure... this is easier to manage as to attach USB cable...

Thank you, I have read the posts. I have no problem getting the watch into Wireless Download mode.....that is easy.....BUT.....it does not show up in the network list. I have entered settings on the watch, and tried to connect to a wireless network......and did a scan....but it does not find a network. I have tried to manually enter the wireless details on the watch, but it still will not find the network. Thank you for your prompt response......I will continue to research.
No idea if you mix "2 different" problems...
Maybe we try with problem 1...
Wireless Download + netOdin
Look at this Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4MSzn2hbMw
Concentrate on these 2 times:
Code:
Minute 0:52 set into Download Wireless Mode
Minute 1:45 search Network device SM-R760
You are really sure you are not able to find SM-R760 with Computer?
You can also use your handset... to check if SM-R760 is visible
Hints:
1.
Be sure you do the double press thingie... to set into AP Mode... not WPS
2.
Between your WiFi device and Gear S3... use short distance... short Range...
Not try to experiment with Router... 1000 meter in other room or something...
This is why I told to use Notebook with internal WiFi... or USB Stick... like Fritz USB
3.
Don't play with static IP s...
ALL Gear S3 have only 1 IP...
Code:
192.168.49.20
It came from Firmware... for Wifi Download Mode...
I have never seen WiFi is dead... in Wirelss Download Mode... if Wireless Mode search for AP...
Best Regards
Thanks again, but I am not new to this. As far as I can see, the OTA update has competely disabled my WIFI and Bluetooth capability. I have tried this afternoon on three different laptops that can pick up anything within range. The watch IS NOT transmitting anything because the wireless and bluetooth functions do not work. I do not see any way round this other than RMA/return to samsung.
I would have thought that if you "Factory Restore" the device, then it would return to its prior state BEFORE the upgrade. This is not the case. I think this maybe because the watch cannot store 2 x OS on the watch, and therefore clears cache/backup once OTA update has completed.

It is also possible to kill CSA partition...
Where Serial Number, MAC adddress, BT and so on is stored...
This happend to me with my SM-R732... VERY funny...
If BT is dead... then no connection to Phone possible...
I spent hours to fix CSA problem...
Checklist for you:
1.
Look at Odin Mode screen... if Warranty Void is still:
Code:
0 (0x0000)
If different, then maybe something happens to CSA...
1.1.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75047492&postcount=18
Try in this Reboot Mode menu:
Code:
Factory command
AND
Recovery
You can also do every line... in different order...
NO joke...
Result shoud be something like Factory Reset... and you should land in "First page" for init...
If you can connect via Phone + Gear Manager... Then BT is alive..
So this means BT address is not nuked... and maybe CSA is alive...
Sorry, I have NO Crystal Ball nor other magic power to see what happens to your device...
You can only try systematically... step by step and check different things...
I mean your other request about USB looks like this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75095981&postcount=386
So better Option to check "magic Buttons or menus..." to be sure Factory Reset not fix problem...
Otherwise Service Center...
Only as last option to open device... at your OWN risk...
As few users also failed to connect via USB...
Only as hint.

Warranty?
Will doing flash with netOdin void my warranty or prevent me from using Samsung Pay?
I accidentally clicked reset and quickly hard reset the device. It is now stuck on the boot screen - no power cycling or anything. The recovery does not work in the boot menu.
I have already stated that I have tried everything you have suggested. Bottom line is....both Bluetooth and Wireless are not functioning, therefore there is NO way you can connect to it. Today I have spoken to Samsung Support Centre, and they are going to pick the watch up and repair it/replace it.
ODIN Blank
Interesting issue...
My watch does transmit, is seen in the network list and is selected. However, Odin ID:COM field remains blank. Odin does not capture or see the phone.
How do I get Odin and my Gear S3 Classic to play nice together??
Thank you.
@troussos
You need netOdin for wireless "action"...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73503787&postcount=150
Odin can only be used if you have USB cable attached...

Hi everyone,
I need your help to solve some problems I got with the galaxy 3.
I live off-grid and it also mean there is no wired phone line so Im using a old g3 as a wifi router.
I do this for a year and the phone is always pluged and connected in H and wifi in ap mode (no adhoc cause other phone dont connect)
Of course, you already know what happend, battery is dead. And the phone start stopping itself.
And of course you cant using without battery even pluged in.
So, as there is always electricity i would like to remove any part of the rom who interact with battery. Simulating 100% all the time so the phone dont cut.
I also would like to automatically boot on and it might have something to do with kernel.
Finally i would also remove all unneeded stuff and start automzticaly the wifi tether ap mode, and why not a proxy through ssh so i can encrypt if i ggo through proxy or surf in clear if no proxy selected in computer settings.
Can you guy lead me to the right way to do this, at least or the battery part or the autoboot part?
By the way, buying a battery is not an option it cost more than a lowcost android phone. And i dont lile to waste .
Thanks a lot
Yodb
Wouldn't it be possible to find a battery on eBay or those type of non OEM batteries?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using xda app-developers app
It is probably possible. It will probably end like this but it would have been much more fun for me to learn a new tricks
I read all over the net that many android phone start when pluged in. My galaxy note also do it, apparently only if it stoped alone. If i switched it off manualy it show a green battery.
Id like to do the same with the g3. Any kernel would do that? Even a old one? I only need a ap mode wifi tether, i dont use it at all apart for that (fixed on the wall where good reception is)
Finaly i also could kick out the power button and plug it to a raspberry who will check if its on and power it if not.
I can compil my own rom but for the kernel part i dont know how to play with.
Hello,
I have bought a HTC Medialink HD to show my Familie my Holiday Pictures.
The Firmware is: 5.19.100....
I read a lot if articles before evertime I read that it will be possible to present your stuf via dlna from all your devices.
Today I connected everthing and went on 192.168.3.1 and try to setup my WIFI but no way to do so, i get everytime an internal error,
I have used 2 different AP but no way.
Im also not able to use the internal AP from the MediaLink if i try to show some videos with the Wi-Fi Media App there is no device listed.
I'm not sure but it feels that my device is Broken....
I have no HTC device to test the 3 finger wipe but I'm more or less sure that this will also not work.
Is there a way to upgrade the firmware via USB?
Or did I make something wrong?

Same situation here also. I am able to connect my HTC phone using 3-finger guesture; however, whenever I try to connect my Nexus7, I get stuck at the point where I need to choose the Wi-Fi on 192.168.3.1. My Wi-Fi connection is not on the list. Even if I try to enter manually and click on "Save", it always says "Update Failed/Internal Error".
Is there any setting that must be done to the router?

Hom, seems like an Firmware Error. Any Idea were/how to get the old firmware or hack this crap...
Honestly, I guess the best would be to quickly sell this thing and get a Chromecast as soon as it is in stock again.
Will do mostly the same and is cross-compatible with your future android phone and your Chrome browser.
Plus, it's very cheap ^^

Not yet, but I guess the chances that google will sell it in Germany or at least in AT/CH are not bad.
There is even a landing page on google play DE for it:

Hope so
I picked one up from AT&T store at a very affordable price but encountered the same "internal error" issue when I tried to connect this little box with my home Wi-Fi network. After a few days of researching, a forum in Taiwan provided some workaround and here is the steps to connect your HTC Media Link HD (HMLH) to your Wi-Fi network and enjoy DLNA support as well.
1. Reset (HMLH) by pressing the reset button for more than 5 seconds
2. You must grab a phone with Sense 4.0+ (will not work with Sense 5+ or above)
3. Connect your phone with Sense 4.0+ to your local network first
4. Perform the 3 finger swipe up action from your sense page
5. Complete the set up process
6. Wait for 5 minutes then connect to the Wi-Fi network that you named during the set up process from another laptop with network password 1234567890HTC
7. Open browser and type 192.168.3.1
8. HMLH automatically picks up your home network without entering the security key
9. Exit the mirroring mode from your Sense 4+ phone by swiping 3 fingers down
10. The TV screen should show that HMLH is connected to your Wi-Fi network
ok, so here is another easy solution for the internal error with the HTC Media Link HD (DG H300)
1. Firmware version on device after update: 5.52.103.1
2. Connect device to TV
3. Press reset button on device for 5 seconds to reset
4. After reset device will show Default Name on TV screen
5. Turn on WPS config on your router, either through Router admin UI or by manually pressing WPS button (WPS = Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
6. Press once the reset button on device (you need to do this within 2minutes of pressing the WPS button on router)
7. Device will automatically go to configure screen, progress bar will indicate configuration
8. The medialink HD device will now be connected to your WiFi network through your router
Greetings and Whats Up,
I am posting for the first time to ask for help with my SideKick 4G. The WiFi has stopped working completely. When I attempt to turn on the WiFi, the system scans and then shuts the WiFi off. A message of "Unable to Scan Networks", then displays. When I attempt to turn on the WiFi to use the phone as a portable hotspot, it also fails.
I have:
1. Soft reset and Hard reset. - Fail
2. Tried all forms of Keis, from the Keis Mini from Samsung's site (phone not registered), to the first Keis release to the current. (Will not work with your device) - Fail
3. After searching "SideKick 4G WiFi" on all 47 pages on this site and then the "Here are the similar threads", I did install and try WI-FI Lock and WIFI Manager. (now the WiFi just continually scans-off-scans-off)
Any help would be greatly greatly and even greatly appreciated.

Try the one click return to stock hiemdall package, but also make sure to choose pit files so it will repartition all firmware, either that or just run hiemdall or Odin manually.
If this won't work that it is highly likely a hardware issue

Hey, mega thanks for responding. I forgot to write that I did try the heimdall one click and that did not work but I wanted to give it another shot. The application found my device but after rebooting the device, sadly the firmware is still 2.2.1 and FROYO.UVKj2 is still loaded.
There were a few questions about possible errors that came up. At the bottom of the window it says "Flashing Model (3 of 6)".There is a bootloaders option. When I ran the flash again I was going to try, but it said that it could cause permanent damage to the phone. I am unsure what the bootloader does but I live in the country side and without wifi calling, this phone is horrible inside of my home.
Again thanks for the information.

You would also want to flash the bootloaders, but you maybe best off flashing with hiemdall (not the one click) not at a computer so I can't easily link but just Google search for hiemdall and it will bring you to a site (something glass?) Where you will find all the downloads, then maybe watch a YouTube video on how to use (maybe not one where you use command lines as it may be confusing so search youtube hiemfall frontend)
All the needed files are in the one click.tar you downloaded, just extract them, use these files to reparation all

Well, I used the bootloader option and the phone survived and is running with FROYO.UVKG2. Unfortunately, it did not fix the WiFi. WiFi, to connect to my home WiFi, is still cycling on and the off. Mobile AP is still giving a simple Error. The only thing I would add is that I attempted to manually enter my home WiFi information into the phone and it states: "Unable to save the Network".
Many thanks for your help with this phone today and it appears you are right and it may be hardware related. Was a great phone.
Quick update.
I was searching this site for the: ""Unable to save the Network" error and saw this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8540980&postcount=4708
What is a "data image" file?
Lastly, mini Keis will not allow for the update.
Again, thanks for the help.

Perhaps something is not getting deleted properly when you've been trying to go back to stock? Just a thought. Maybe others could shed more light on this than I?
A little more obvious but maybe there is a hardware issue, I've never experience any myself but I hear that this phone was riddled with them during it's first few months.
Just an idea, I do hope that isn't the case, but it is possible. Maybe it keeps shorting or something. Ever spilled something on it? /=
Hey, guys and gals. Thanks for the responses. I think that it must be a hardware problem because today, half way through my shift, it slowly started to work. I was able to first manually enter a WiFi address into the phone and then I checked the Wifi hotspot function and it worked as well. As soon as I pulled into my driveway the phone "chirped" that it was now connected to my home WiFi.
I feel that I may have wasted everyone's time. I am just happy that the phone is working again. My service is with T-Mobile so maybe after the Fall semester begins I will start looking for a new phone.
Again, thanks folks.
Don't worry, that's what this is for any help is help. Nice to hear things are working out now xD

Wasted time naaa man we are here to help the last few sidekick users out that's why we are here
An I think it might have been just some setting that you changed. Happens to me a lot of times
Anyways you should enter into recovery now an go to back up your phone so if it does mess up you can atleast have somewhat of a "save" spot so you can go back an everything will be as it is now

I think today settled that it is a hardware issue because since early yesterday morning the WiFi has not worked. It continues to give the same errors.
"Can Not Scan Networks"
"Can Not Save Networks"
..and a general "Error under Mobile AP" when I attempt to use the phone as a hotspot.
I am very conservative and resist change when it comes to cell phones. My friends pretty much forced me to this phone, because I was still happily walking around New York city with a SideKick LX. Their said I was embarrassing them.
So, last piece of advice. I love having a dedicated keyboard, so what is the next reasonably priced alternative to the SideKick 4G?

Hey Zydrate and anyone who might still be running a Sidekick 4G, I rooted my phone and have moved and deleted a few files under the WiFi folder with no luck.
I was checking out other combination searches on XDA to see if I could find someone with my same error. I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21507745&postcount=1
I checked the folder and I see that the file: "wpa_supplicant.conf" does exist, but the fix did not work. My question is that I found a few other WiFi folders and I notice two other files. :
\etc\wifi\wifi.conf
\data\misc\wifi\wpa_supplicant.conf
There was a file named "bcm_supp.conf" that used to appear, but does not show anywhere anymore. For the WiFi for the Sidekick, does anyone know what files are needed and where they should be located? Also, since these files appear to be only config files, are they available for downloaded?
Thanks in advance again.
hey guys, so I've been playing around with my new hw2 and I have noticed a somewhat issue,
the watch seems to be using my phones connection to wifi through bt, because I turn off watch's wifi and it still has internet connection, but when I turn off phone's(or watch's) bt, theres not internet on the watch any more
my home wifi network has wpa2 password and it is saved on my phone and also it shows up in saves networks list in the watch, but when I turn off watch's bt and turn wifi on, it wont connect to the network! what should I do if I dont want to use my phone and want to use the watch directly to connect to home wifi network?!
edit: when I tap the add network option, my home network wont show up! is it a defective unit?!!!
When you connect the watch to wifi, you should get the option to connect through phone to the wifi. When it connects, you should be good.
The problem is the network does not show up so I cant connect! It does not find it!
That is weird. It should show. If this persists, wipe the device. If you still have the issue then it may be a defective unit.
guys did you update to the latest version? if nobody else has this issue Im gonna send it for warranty...
also someone please tell me how long does it take for the gps to locate position without phone??
If you are using any app besides Google fit, less than 6-7 seconds. Google fit defaults to phone unless phone is not close out disconnected. In that case still 6-7 seconds.

Im actually talking about google maps, assuming that I am connected to the phone for internet but want to use watches gps instead of phone, because in my test I waited for about 10mins and google maps was still searching for location...
Hi,
i have the 4G version.
when i'm going running (without mobile at all as i don't have mobile^^), watch ask me to activate position i not already tick in prefs, and i get GPS working under 10s, max 15s when outside.
Therefore, i haven't test on google maps, if i have time il will test and tell you.

Hi,
ok, i have install google maps on my Huawei watch 2. here are my results :
A > my watch (with simcard) is pair with a phone with no SIMcard at all. This phone have bluetooth OFF and wifi OFF . So phone is not connected to internet.
B > first test : with A and watch with no BT, no wifi and no data (SIM not activated) : google maps start, GPS icon is searching localisation but no maps is visible, about ten or 15 s, gps icon become a compass, so in my opinion, GPS find my location, but as i have no internet connection, google map cannot show the maps, so the screen is empty (i don't know if i can predownload map in watch in local)
C > second test : with A and watch without BT, without wifi but WITH data (SIM activated) : google map start, GPS icon searching for 10s, maps is visible, my location is ok and the position circle become smaller and smaller as GPS refine. BUT, when i select if theres a POI, he ask me to connect the phone AND if i select a point to go, he ask me to connect the phone .
D > third test : with A except only modify WITH wifi ON + watch without BT, without wifi but with data : exactly the same of C results : so data LTE cannot connect to phone wifi (seems logical)
E > test four : with A except only modify WITH bluetooth ON + watch WITH bluetooth ON, no wifi with data : same results as C, with the difference that google maps don't tell me to connect the phone but say that it cannot find any POI, and cannot calculate the path to destination (so even with data on watch + bluetooth on phone, nothing is possible except finding localisation)
F > last test : with A except bluetooth ON and Wifi ON on phone : and watch data ON and bluetooth ON : gps ok, localisation ok, POI are finding (by phone and sending to the watch i suppose) and when i pick a dest on watch and ask for path, google maps start on phone and calculate the path, wich appear on my watch then (i precise that at this moment, google maps on the phone tell me tha my watch have to activate it's own GPS during travel).
G > if i exit BT, wifi on the phone, the watch immediatly lost the already path... so it isn't store on the watch ...
FINALLY :
> We can say that the GPS is working well on my watch (even with no map, the compass replacing GPS icon is the witness) : so kianush you can verify this point on your's.
> we can say that google maps cannot work standalone on the watch : sim data only can show maps and watch gps localize position and show it, but NO POI or destination way ! If you want that, you have to connect watch to your phone, wiitch have to be connect to internet by wifi... and when you move, you have to get your phone too, if not, the path of destination is not in the watch.
I can tell that, google maps, is not a good apk to verify if your GPS is ok or not... the problem may be google map in fact
For me, who use SIM card in watch only and never use smartphone, googlemap is not usable at this time, because even i i get my phone with me, it will lost internet wifi connection and as it do not have simcard, it will never connect to internet for POI and Calculate path.
Hope this help you !
POST SCRIPTUM:
> i have try your configuration : i disable simcard connection in my watch and only activate bluetooth.
On my phone, i have activate bluetooth and wifi (no GPS activated on phone).
In this configuration, the watch gps find my position, so as GPS is OFF on phone, we can know that's the GPS watch is ok.
but notice that the watch tell me to connect to phone for POI or path !!!!!!!!!!! In fact, you have to connect with androidwear (via bluetooth) on phone, and then all work.
wow man! you really put your time on this, thank you very much! yeah I already returned my watch as I suspected the gps was not working, after 10 minutes of running google maps gps icon was still grey and there was a text saying still finding location! But I wonder how it could track my steps though!
also in what position were you testing? I was testing it at home at night (under the roof)
---------------
edit:
today they called me and sent a video to me showing that the wifi is working with no issue after factory reset, that's strange because I already did disconnect and reset the watch to see if it fixes the problem! could it be because of the phone that I paired it with? it's a xperia x compact with 7.1.1.
anyway they will send back the watch and I will try to test it again and see if its ok...
Im still not able to see any wifi ssid on my watch and also saw some other people on the internet talking about this issue in AW2
if anyone knows a fix, Im all ears...
Update:
So I today a was able to make sure my watch is not defective and its somehow a software bug or problem!
I disconnected and reset the watch to factory setting
then cleared the data and cache of google play services - android wear and google play store apps
Then after the watch started up, before pairing I long pressed the power button and went to wifi option there and in "add network" i was finally able to see my router and other available networks in the area!
Then i cleard all saved wifi networks on the phone (just in case it was related) and pair the watch to my phone,
and bang! Right after i confirmed the bluetooth code and it was showing that its looking for update, i went to settings the same way and I was not able to see any networks anymore!
So I decided to do these steps again and factory reset my watch and pair it to another phone(mine is xperia x compact with 7.1.1 and the other phone is galaxy j3 5.1.1), and still before pairing it showed and the moment I paired it in amdroid wear app, watch's wifi wont work anymore!
I also noticed that if instead of selecting the watch in android wear app, i just connect my phone bluetooth to it from phone settings, the phone will connect and the watch wifi is still working, but the watch wont pair and it keeps stuck at "searching for updates" screen.
So the might be something wrong with android wear app, or something else!!!
Please guys if you know how to fix this help me out
My watch is bt version leo-bx9 with build number N7176C
If there is a newer rom please give me instructions to flash, but I dont thinks its related to the rom...
WiFi issue fixed
Hi friends, I had this problems until last week, I connect watch to my phone and connect phone to WiFi for having internet, I ran VPN on the phone and go to watch and check for updates, I found the update via VPN, before I use VPN I didn't able to check update.
I started the update and watch go to Oreo, every thing were ok, WiFi was fixed, last night I check for updates again, there was new update from 1 March 2018, every thing is ok now, WiFi problem was android bug, I hope you enjoy it.

Please help me too as I am having this problem, so what country or vpn did you use? Did you have to format your watch ?
Ok this is weird and I dont know why this happens but if I reset my watch and connect to my ipad using wear os. I strangely get my ability to view wifi and have wifi on my watch for the first time. Now some things did change like the tutorial looked different on my watch.
Ok so I tried to reset and reconnect back to my watch and it seems that it wont work soooo. I guess we have cleared out that its not a hardware problem meaning not defective but a bug as stated. So pretty much our phones are doing something that the watch then wont accept wifi or somthing.
Now if i cant get it to work i guess I will have to sideload or using usb adb to put something that allows two devices to be connected to the watch.

I got it refurbished from Amazon. It's a US device and I'm using it in Mexico. It doesn't connect through Samsung wearable. I was able to access the settings without pairing it to a phone but It doesn't allow me to turn on the Bluetooth or connect to the internet through wifi. I've tried a factory reset on the watch, reset the phone etc. even using a different cellphone but the problem seems to be with the connectivity of the watch. My best guess is trying to change CSC but the online methods with typing numbers and symbols into the dialer didn't work. Anyone have any ideas besides sending it back? Are there other repair options?
Check if BT address and MAC address is visible...
In Settings--- >About...
Best Regards
Nothing on Bluetooth but there is a wifi mac address.
No BT address is IMHO not good... so BT connection can NOT be established...
Can you give full infos about Firmware...
Easiest way... for me.
Type:
Code:
*#1234#
This shows FW Version and Model Name etc...
So I know whithout Crystal Ball what you have...
Best Regards

i'm no expert on samsung devices, but perhaps this is a system corruption.
system corruptions can happen for a number of reasons, sometimes it's just a faulty update or the battery died during an important system task. can samsung wearables be flashed by the odin tool?

I haven't looked into that but I don't think I can do it. There is no usb port or any kind of port to connect it to a computer. It seems to get everything through wifi or Bluetooth and both are not available.
Got the wifi working but the registration failed. Probably since it's not connected to any account. It seems like you can only link a phone through Bluetooth not via wifi or NFC.
Can you check if IMEI is in about menu?
Best Regards

Yes, it's in the about watch menu. No one around here has the skill to open and try to repair it.
