Hey all,
Just got the Pixel 2 and so far I'm smitten.
Question: how do I change the volume level for notifications? Can I set certain different volumes for individual apps' notifications? And change which sound plays? How about the volume level and tone for texts received from different individual contacts?
Thank you ?

Is it possible to have different volume settings for different notifications? I'm coming from a BlackBerry Bold, and I was able to set specific ring tone AND volume for each app that I used.
I've only found one notification volume setting in Sounds and Notifications, but when I turn this all the way down, I don't hear text messages coming in either.
I do know how to change notification sounds for each app...this I can do, but not separate volume settings.
I'd like to have a different volume setting for incoming Skype messages, a different volume setting for an active Words with Friends game, a different volume setting for text messages, bla, bla, bla! I was able to do this in my BB for each app, and am hoping this is possible in the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide!
If not, is there an app that does this?
I'd also like to be able to shut off all notifications when I go to bed, but leave the volume a little higher for incoming phone calls and texts (kids, just in case...), but I don't want to hear any of my game notifications going off all night!
I'm absolutely loving my new toy, even coming from a BB!
thanks so much!!!
Hello, I have an android phone with the volume and notification tones linked to the same volume. I know this is an ongoing issue with the new updates and that there are apps available that supposedly unlink the two. I want the notifications on full volume and the ringtone on about half volume.
is it possible to edit ringtones so they will only be half of the original volume and so tricking the new android update and kind of giving me a way of unlinking the tones?

Click to collapse
Use an audio editor (mp3 editor) and increase or decrease the amplitude of your selected ringtones.
Save your ringtones for future use.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, fantastic info!

I know it may be a silly question, but how to adjust the volume to make Ringtone louder and Notification lower? Every time I change them in setting\sound\volume then I exit the screen, the two will automatically change to the same. The other 2 items in the same screen work fine.
How do I change the notification volume, separate from Ringtone, Media, Calls, etc. My notification sound level seems very high and need to separately change the volume of it and/or mute it without muting other sounds.
I thought this was a standard Android feature, or am I just missing something?
Hard to test because only way to know is when notifications come in.
Thank you,
I would like to know as well
The volume of ringtone and notification sound can not be adjusted seperatly. At itself not a problem except for the fact that notification volume is way higher then ringtone volume. If I set the volume lower then the ringtone cannot be heard anymore and the notification volume is still to high.
If I set the volume higher then the notification will become a disturbence.
I have tried some 3rd party apps to manage volume of ringtones and notifications seperatly. But those do not seem to be capable off manageing notification volume and ringtone volume seperatly either.
For now I have decided to turn off notification sounds because off the volume.
I have had an OP6 before the OP Nord. There the volume of ringtones and notifications could not be managed seperatly as well but at least the volume of both ringtone and notification was in sync (equal loudness).
Anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on how to get the notification volume in line?
Do you use own file for ringtone? You can edit it, increase volume, e.g. in Audacity on PC, so it will be louder than notification sounds, and then lower ringtone volume.

Yeah, it is not a OP ringtone.
Strange thing is I have been using this ringtone on my OP6 previously where I did not have this "volume" problem.
I will give Audacity a try.
Thx.
Hi try this app, This might work for you.
It will increase ringtone volume to 100% before receiving normal call.
P.S tested on galaxy devices.
