What if we start some kind of riot, etc? - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

It's 2018., lot of phone brads out here are able to take raw photos, use third part camera aplications, etc (talking about camera is because I paid for camera, I don't care much about other things like design and f****** double tap wake, etc...). So what I was thinking is, what if we brag and spam sony support forum, like 0/24, to get full manual camera settings. Let's just start something. I wouldnt suggest this if I'm able to RMA my phone and get back my 750€. Have a great day everyone. I hope sonebody will take this serious and we will do something. ✌?✌?✌?✌?✌?

ICS Facial Recognition - Take Picture on Failed Attempt

I would personally be interested in seeing a modification to take a picture and save it on the SD card on every failed attempt to unlock the phone. It would be great to see who was trying to snoop on your phone . Does such a modification already exist? If not I would like to petition someone with the ability to execute this.
What do you guys think?
I +1 to this.
In addition, if someone tried to unlock the phone manually (using pin / password / alternate option than facial recognition) then the phone will also snap a picture of the person who failed attempt.
I think this would be a great enhancement to the current security set by Android.
(do we get to patent this and make money like Apple?)
maybe it could upload the picture to email or google+ private pictures also incase you dont get your phone back or so you can use the pictures to get the phone back.
This is a totally genius idea.
regards,slymobi
This is a great idea, however I feel that it should only take a pic upon password failure. Otherwise I'd have an album of my face at awkward, low light angles.
A brilliant idea with a plethora of options to explore for it... I hope to see this idea explode into something huge for when I finally get my hands on an ICS capable phone. =)

Of course, the ICS software already recognizes failure because of low light and that should be excluded. Really hope we can get some feedback here from a developer.
One problem with this is that each app for each device is closed source. So it would have to be done one the OEM side.
Well facial recognition does not seem to be an 'app' rather part of the system itself as it is included in AOSP. It is independent of the OEMs modifications so this should pretty much be universal.

Yes its included in AOSP but remember that OEM do not use the AOSP drivers but closed source drivers. They edit the code to work with these drivers and with the included camera app for each device.

[Q]Video Recording in Background??

This question has been asked but the ONLY reason i am asking it is because one of them is for car accident documentation and the other had no answer and was asked for an unknown reason. (i am a new user so i am unable to link to these two threads.):crying:
Well I know their are "Secret Video Recording' apps out their although the main reason for these seam to be use surreptitiously and my reason is something for something I don't want to hide and actually be able to check on it every once and a while.
Here is what i am talking about Being that i have the dock and the t300 has a rear facing camera i wish to utilize them both at the same time. Here is the scenario: I am in class attending a lecture and although i am a fast typist I cant capture things like slides or pictures in general for my notes. I wish to be able to Video Record the lecture while taking notes at the same time. Alas i have been unable to find software to do this. I have been told before that i should use a "secret" recorder and set up the shot first with my normal camera app. Although this does not let me 1.) go to the video intermittently and make sure what i want is still in frame, people move and sometimes the tablet does while i am taking notes all it takes is someone bumping me from the side or for someone in front of me to move and the rest of the video might as well be an audio recording . and 2.) stop recording easily when its not needed (breaks pauses during lectures and the random jokes or anecdotes some teachers like to tell) not having this ability i have to edit the video or deal with the extra content.
In all I am pretty sure you get my idea I wish i could create a mod to the camera app that lets me put the recording in the background and takes notes I am no DEV but to me it sounds easy although if it was i bet it would be available already.
THE most Possible BEST thing to add to this would also be able to have the option to monitor the recording in a small Samsung like super window but with a live feed not just playback so without having to change the entire screen i can quickly check its progress in a small window.
Sorry for the long post I am just wondering if this could be even possible I would pay for an app like this as currently the only way i can get video is by using two devices although the higher position of the tablet camera is ideal.
Thank you for reading this and I hope this sparks someones interest and possibly with the amount of people highly intelligent when it comes to these matters I know if it is possible someone or someones here can create it. Again that is if it is possible, personally i don't see why not but if i was that smart i wouldn't need to ask. I would just create the app.

Camera and Microphone Permisson

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel as if Android users kind of overreact on permissons. For example, the Instagram app asks for permission to use the Camera/Microphone without the users consent. That basically means that the Instagram app isn't gonna ask if it is okay to take a picture of what your taking a picture of. In other words, it will open up the camera when you hit that blue button without asking if it is okay. Then it usually doesn't touch the camera anymore. And on almost all phones, you will hear a click sound when the camera is used, whearher you see it or not. AVG Theft Protection does this when it snaps a picture. Most popular apps don't use permission sneakily. Again, I am open to corrections. Thanks guys for reading.

third party camera apps

I read somewhere (not sure where) that third party camera apps can not use the full potential of the dual-camera. Only the stock app can do that - not quite sure but I rememeber something that it can't access the 20MP black&white sensor or something.
Is this correct?
I would say that most third-party software was coded with one sensor in mind. I don't own a Mate 9, but I do know a bit about combining two images in one (binning) and photography. They are highly specialized actions, that require specially made software.
Dual lens appears to be the trend. Might go to the play store, send an email to the camera FV-5 folks. They've always been fast to respond
to my questions. I'm not really "interested" in dual lens cameras on phones. I use it for quick snapshots of things I work on (electronics).
for everything else, I defer to my dSLR.

Wide Appreture editing app, besides stock gallery

So I have been thinking, in a few years, when everyone gets new phones, with new features. How are we going to edit the pictures taken with Wide Aperture mode (fake bokeh)? The only app able to change the depth of field of the picture is the stock gallery app by Huawei/honor that came with the phone.
Google photos DOES save the information to be edited later (but there is no way to edit them on Google photos app as far as I can tell).
So if a year later you restore photos to this phone and try to edit them, you can, but only with the stock gallery app.
Anyone here know of any 3rd party software on Windows desktop, and or on the web or android that can do this? So we don't have to be reliant on the Gallery app from Huawei in case we change phones later on.
Thanks.
You can't really change the aperture on phones as the aperture is fixed to f2 or bit more. What Google and Huawei and all the other do, is to approximate the behaviour by blurring the background in a postprocessing step. The better they detect foreground and background, the better this illusion works. But it's never a real bokeh.

I am well aware how this camera works, i am a part time photographer, This was not my question! my question was if there is an external source or app that allows us to edit these kinds of photos as the gallery app does, to refocus after we take the pics using the wide aperture mode.
I think that what Huawei does with their gallery app is a bit proprietary.

So basically after a few years if we want to edit these pictures it would either be impossible with another brand of phone, or might perhaps be possible if we keep buying huawei phones, with this feature, which is not a sure thing.
Yes I think so. But I didn't investigate on this topic. At least one can still open the Jpeg as the depth information is somewhat in it.
Unfortunately no third party apps that can do this.
Maybe if someone can port the gallery app, that will work!
