I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I'M FLASHING Oreo B2 as I type this!!!!!!!!

Great work again on security updates ,same time as Google's release

So users with Oreo Beta are out of luck...I guess will need to wait for another beta that will include new security patch or a public release of Oreo.

I'm sure it's imminent. Plus these updates suck performance, and Rey kernel probably doesn't have them anyway.

Can someone post some step by step instructions on how to sideload this update with twrp and magisc installed. I had a hard time with the December update and ended up having to wipe my phone and don't want to have to do that again.

Uninstall Magisk from within the manager app, flash stock recovery, then sideload OTA with ADB in stock recovery.

Airwolf,
Couldn't you also download the "back to stock" NMJ88C use flash-all from the PC side and reflash TWRP/Magisk?
Is that an easier method?

OK.. So the Flash_all.bat from the Back to stock_NMH88C worked fine. TWRP fastboot installed and Magisk flashed through twrp_mata11.
Phone rebooted. now cannot get wifi to work. i seem to remember a fix for this, but cannot locate it.
Any ideas??

Yeah, that would work too. If you have issues though, I would factory reset b4 either method.

The latest BMG TWRP cooked into NMJ88C hangs at the TWRP splash screen. I worked on it a long while and gave up. No TWRP AND Wifi at this point. I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough.

So, it's been a couple of weeks. Where can we find the sideload for Sprint customers?

For Sprint customers, try inserting a non sprint sim. Update notification comes in within a minute. After installing reinsert sprint sim. No need for sideloading.

Well, it didn't work for me without sim. After inserting an inactive republic wireless sim, got the update notification in like 15 seconds.

I've been a Sprint customer since 2009. I don't have any non-Sprint sim's anymore (my last one was a full-size AT&T sim from my HTC Wizard that I can't find). I hope Essential was serious about posting their OTA delta files when they said it during their last AMA.

Borrow from friends or relatives as a temporary need or maybe check if any provider gives free sim card.. i got a FreedomPop sim for 1 cent with free shipping (remember to cancel all subscriptions and downgrade to their free plan)..

I have had 0 issues sideloading while on Sprint adb sideload works just fine. Install the adb drivers, install the sdk, plug in, boot to recovery, run the command, and boom you're updated.
You don't need another sim.

Beta program

Hi guys,
i have a pixel and i want to enrrol to the beta program, i just done the process but it seams that update is not arriving, its posible that verizon pixels can't enroll to beta program?
http://www.droid-life.com/2017/01/30/android-7-1-2-beta-download-update-nexus-pixel/
Regards
You can download the full image here
I dont have oem unlocked. I can sideloade it?
Yea even i didn't get it. I guess it not for the verizon phones.
Can anyone who has upgraded to 7.1.2 let us know if it appears stable enough for a daily driver and have they noticed any differences ? Thank you.....
Another locked bootloader VZW customer here who enrolled and is waiting for OTA. I think we'll get it, just have to wait for OTA's to start. Google let us enroll, and we seem to have gotten updates from Google and not VZW so far. I think it'll just take a day or 2 to start rolling.
I installed 7.1.2 briefly. No changes that I noticed besides radio and boot IMG. Seemed stable enough for daily, I went back to PN because of substratum.
I am a non VZW pixel user (Koodo - Canada) and have not received the OTA after signing up yesterday. They note that it may take 24 hours and looks like it's going to for me.

I know that the bootloader is what loads the Android filesystem to the boot image, I wonder if it can somehow be manipulated to unlock and root since you mention that the boot image is different? Does anyone know? Thanks
Just about 24 hours of enrollment here on my VZW Pixel with no OTA yet. Google support confirmed my device was eligible... Has ANYONE, regardless of carrier, received a beta OTA?

Signed up yesterday for both my Pixel (VZW sim) and Pixel XL (Project Fi sim) both bought direct from Google. Pixel XL rec'd update almost immediately not yet on Pixel so far.
If anyone gets the OTA, please pull and post it. OTA's can be flashed in TWRP, followed by a re-flash of TWRP to keep custom recovery. I'm too lazy to download the full firmware, edit it, and flash with a computer.

The edit you mention. Is that just removing the -w command from the flash all script. Or is there more involved in updating from a factory image?

Nope it's exactly that. Just remove -w so it doesn't wipe the device. It's how I update my Pixel and 5X since I'm impatient waiting for OTAs.

Correct. And for some reason the flash-all.bat never works for me. It fails towards the end of the flash. I have to run it through one of those tool kits for it to accept it.
Flashing the OTA in TWRP is a smaller download, quicker, no PC, and it consistently works for me.
Like I said, I'm lazy lol.

I had the same problem a long time ago. Turns out I was using an old version of fastboot. Once I updated it I had no problem with the flashall.bat
OTA hasn't rolled for the pixel yet, likely "soon", my guess is today or tomorrow at the latest since XL has gone out. I am on project FI and got the pixel through the play store fyi

I've tried updating mine but that doesn't seem to help. I spent a considerable amount of time working on it one day with no luck. Mine is installed so that it'll work from any directory (I don't have to put my files in the same directory). I even tried putting the new adb/fastboot in the same folder as the flash-all.bat with the same results.

I am also in the waiting for the OTA camp and use an unlocked Verizon Pixel and PIxel XL. I have had better luck using the TWRP sideload method and it installing to the other slot with each subsequent sideload appears to me a more consistent way to keep everything updated in the same way that the system OTA works.

Oreo update not coming?

InoHello everyone.
It has been a long time since my last post....
I bought my HTC U11 128GB/6GB last August and I find it awesome. Since the announcement of the Oreo update being rolled out, I became impatient to try it. I checked and checked for updates... but nothing. Right now it's running Android 7.1.1, SW version 1.27.400.21, with the October 2017 security patch.
How can I find if there are other updates that I didn't receive? How can I find my model number? How can I force the updates?
Info: My phone is already unlocked (it's the first thing that I did after receiving it).
Edit: with Simple CID Getter I found out that my CID is HTC__060. Is it the DUGL/India model? If yes then I guess that the Oreo update didn't arrive yet?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

I just did a backup. Downloading the first files to upgrade from 1.27.400.21 to 2.31.400.6 now. Do I have to flash all the files? OTA, recovery, boot and firmware? Or only the OTA zip is enough?
Edit:
I tried to install the OTA Zip with TWRP and it gives me an error message. I think I will wait until the official OTA arrives (hoping it doesn't take too long).
The wwe version has only just been updated so you'll probably get the update in a month or so once the carrier is happy with the release. My advice is to wait. Do not root and s-off for it.

Had exactly same problem as OP.
Solution with VPN worked for me. And phone updated to Software version 2.42.400.3

Downloaded the first time with VPN, tried to install it, but it didn't work (I had TWRP, and after reboot I got the message that the update was corrupted). I flashed the recovery from the Google Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...EYtQ_tRcOSJ0vWcvk8a7TK8Hk/edit#gid=2137120377
using:
Code:
adb reboot download
and then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_1.27.400.21.img
I checked for updates and it asked me to download it again, no VPN needed. Downloaded it and tried to install it (much faster). Phone restarted, update started, and after a few seconds I saw a black screen with a red triangle.. it looks the same as when it's in recovery mode.... Had to restart the phone again.
I'm trying again to download it and I'll check better if I can see the error.
Edit: It goes fast from 1% to 24%, then it stops at 24% for about 19 seconds and then black screen with red triangle...
Any idea what the problem could be?

Sorry, don't think I can be of any help here. Have almost no experience with this sort of things.
In my case I did not do any tweaking with the original OS.
First tried to explore any possible option to get it "official" way.
My only guess would be to try to roll back to the original state and to have no trace of tweaking.

Yes, I will try to do a factory reset this weekend. If it's not working, I will try to follow the instructions on the other post to flash a RUU.
Edit: I did a factory reset, tried to update to Oreo, it still stopped at 24%. I flashed the latest RUU I could find on the spreadsheet, and then after 2 updates I'm finally on Oreo!!!

You can't take the update if you have TWRP installed, it all fail.
the correct way to update is go over to the ROM section and download the stock ROM version you want.
Flash it.
Root again.
Move on.

Several reboots, no audio sent to other end or received from other end.
If it ain't broken, no need to fix. Don't see all the need to rush out for a security update (that apparently is causing audio issues for some).

Why would I do that? Especially when that's not part of the process that you gave earlier? I think the updates are rolling out based off of carrier or some other such criteria. Not simply if you're on x-release you automatically get an update for y-release...

I dumped the old boot before rebooting just in case: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11MjB4kTOHuxbUyHe_kIwZ1d0wqp6-Nmf/view?usp=sharing
You can flash it to your boot slot while rooted, take the OTA, and then install magisk to the other slot before rebooting.
Drop a shell.
Determine current boot slot: getprop |grep boot.slot
Flash the boot: dd if=/path/to/boot_b.img of=/dev/block/by-name/boot_b (change to boot_a if that's your slot)
Of course, don't reboot since you'll lose root. Instead, you should now be able to take the OTA, and then use magisk to patch the other slot before rebooting.
Magisk should now have a backup for next time, so you can uninstall/ota/install in the future.
Nice...4 days in, and patched with the security update already.

I believe you'd fail the OTA if you have an altered boot, but you can try.

Was curious cuz I was able to update the OTA on my pixel when rooted with custom kernel.
For some reason after I ran the magisk uninstaller and made sure to flash the stock boot image I still ran into problems updating via OTA and after sideloading the OTA for the Sept Update with success I found that TWRP would seem to freeze whenever it got to the main screen for some reason. I was able to use adb commands to reboot to bootloader and flash the stock kernel for the update and was able to boot normally. Just wondering if anybody else is having issues with TWRP freezing after installing the security update and yes I did remove fingerprint and lock screen security before booting into TWRP so I know its not something from that causing it to freeze.
Anyone try to Fastboot install the Sept update?
Tried 3 times and the screen was unresponsive every time after booting to setup
Finally went back to last months original P release and everything was as normal and updated from there...........
Just installed patch. Scrolling feels so much better, especially when scrolling slow.

That's exactly what happened to me.. a user on /r/essential said they had the same issue; frustrating!
I'm going to be going back to 8.1 via fastboot, and then flashing 9.0 august, THEN fastbooting september, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to fastboot 9.0 august and then try OTA to
get my screen back.
Really weird stuff.
EDIT: Here's a supposed fix for those with the touchscreen issue - https://www.reddit.com/r/essential/comments/9d0lg3/for_anyone_having_trouble_with_touchscreen_not/
I don't know if we're allowed to link to reddit or not, but I'm doing that fix now.
Thanks!
my PH-1 is no longer recognizing my T-Mobile SIM.
i bought this used & my SIM worked fine up until OTA install. i've tried a different T-Mo SIM & it produces same Invalid SIM error.
the bootloader does show Variant = Sprint. i never did check the bootloader after I purchased it a little more than a month ago.
i'm currently reinstalling August 2018 Release via fastboot & see if that helps.
EDIT:
August 2018 Release resulted in no touch response & unable to progress through setup.
giving June 2018 Release (Oreo 8.1 ) a try via fastboot.
i just want a working phone back

Sadly, I don't know much about the SIM side of the issue
Hope someone with more knowledge can chime in!

Are you rooted? Here are the unlocked modemst files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LQC-2QOC-PWX7vza-82tpwFrnUjaGZVq/view?usp=sharing
You can try to dd them:
Code:
dd if=/path/to/modemst1.img of=/dev/block/by-name/modemst1
dd if=/path/to/modemst2.img of=/dev/block/by-name/modemst2
Would be a good idea to backup your current images
