My power bank wont charge my phone unless it charges something else - General Questions and Answers

Hello I recently bought a 20000mAh Dual USB Power Bank Case Kit 6X 18650 (Power Bank) and I tried to charge my phone (Samsung galaxy S4), but it doesn't seem to charge UNLESS something else is charging with my phone. I tried with more than 3 cables that usually work and it doesn't change anything. Before that, I had chinese power banks and it was working but this time, it doesn't.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 doesnt charge with power bank

hi
I bought a power bank (adata pv-110) .when i connet my tablet to 2.1 Aport show a little red x on battry .
the charger is 2 A but power bank is 2.1 A i dont understand why?
does my tablet have problem?
Define the problem .
Does tablet charge via normal charger .
Does powerbank charge another product .
N8000 is tricky in charging. I have two in office and sometimes they do not "like" some chargers and many of battery banks. Why it is like that - ask Samsung. My suggestions: try to charge with original charger to 60-80%, reconnect to your power bank and see what happens. BTW, what are you running on your n8000? Some ROMs have problems charging when device is off as reported by users. I am on OMNI 5.1 and for me it is fine.
PS: my XIAOMI super powerful bank does not like my portable WiFi router with tiny battery. Consumption is so little during the charge so it disconnects it.

[REVIEW] Innogie 10400mAh AlienPower Portable Charger External Battery Power Bank

This is a review for Innogie 10400mAh AlienPower Portable Charger External Battery Power Bank.
This is what is included in the box:
Portable Power bank
1 Micro USB cable
User Manual
Wrist Strap
Product link on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WU487JA
This portable Power Bank has a very huge capacity of 10400 mAh so you can charge your device multiple times.
This power bank has dual USB ports, so you can also use it charge 2 devices at the same time which is very nice feature when you use multiple devices like a Phone and a bluetooth headset or a tablet.
There are 4 blue led indicator lights that shows current capacity, these lights blink when the power bank is in use.
The charger itself can be charged using included micro USB cable or you can use your own charger which came with your Note 4. You will be able to see the current charge status using the 4 blue lights, when all 4 blue lights are lit the power bank is charged to 100%.
This power bank is not very light weight but not that bulky and you might be able to carry it in your pockets.
I travel a lot and having this power bank is really helpful while I am on move.
Attached are some pics of the power bank.
Finally below is some Pros and Cons of this Power Bank:
Pros:
1) Huge Capacity
2) Dual USB ports to charge 2 devices
3) LED indicator to show the current capacity
4) Small in size
Cons:
1) No external charger, you would need to use your own charger
2) USB cable is too short, if you want to carry the charger in your pocket and use your phone while charging you would need a bigger cable
3) No Fast charging capability for Note 4
Overall I really like this portable power bank and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good portable power bank.

OnePlus One weird charging rates

I have a OnePlus One and the charging is odd. At the wall with the official OnePlus One it charger and cable at the rate of roughly .88a to 1.2a and sometimes more. With my Power Bank which is a Hotway ProBox 10400mAh Power Bank Black it charges at the rate of just about .4 to .5 which is not enough for my phone while in use. The Power Bank can output to a total if both usb ports if both are in use up to a total of 2.1a together and just one and that's with the cable that it came with! Even with the OnePlus One usb cable its not that much different. The Power Bank is pretty much new as I have bought it a few days ago. The voltages is normal (5v-ish) when charging with the official charger but when charging the Power Bank it charging at the rate of right now as I am charging it it hovers around 4.8v .55a I have checked that it is charging on AC not on USB. I have done extensive research that it is the cable the cable that is the problem but its really not in my case since I was using the cables that came with the charger and the Power Bank. I have gotten these numbers with my Charger Doctor not some app which is something more accurate.....
There is no warranty with the phone since its the chinese model. I have gotten the phone a couple of months before the OnePlus 2 since I kinda need a camera for school work for a school trip coming up and One Plus does not ship to Australia. Right now I am broke and not willing to crack open the phone.
Oh sorry if I misused some terminology here.

Best cable, power brick and power bank

Hi everyone, I'm gonna change the USB board of my i-9505 which now is too much ruined by using Chinese cables for too long. I'm looking for 2 good cables(one around 2-3 meters for my powerbrick and a shorter one for my power bank), which can easily support 5V 2A, and maybe compatible with the latest quick charging technology (if it doesn't affect price too much). Moreover I'm searching for a good power brick capable of 5V 2A or 5V 2.4A and a big good quality power bank (around 15000 or 20000 mah) capable of 2 or 2.4A and quick charge compatible, again if it doesn't affect price too much. I've heard about Anker making good products...what could you suggest me, or what are you currently using?
For the cable, you should really get one of those thick ones. They allow more current to pass through.
Best cables:

I have a bunch of these and I use them in all my chargers.
As for a power brick, I have an 18000 mah brick but it's way too big. The product I ordered doesn't existing on Amazon anymore so I can't share a link to it.
It is similar to this model: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M6VA7OU?psc=1
I just got a smaller power bank because the 18000 was way too big and heavy for normal use.
This one is small and light enough to carry in my back pack all the time and it works great. I've used it to recharge by phone 3 times before it needed to be recharged itself.

For cords, the "Anker" pacsks avail at amazon work great. (sorry i cant post links). They sell many different lengths and quantities.
Power bank - Anker Astro E5 16000. Great price with Panasonic cells
