I installed this firmware by lost101. When I power on my device. there is some sort of bar flickering on-screen which goes only when I've locked or turned off my device. Is it a fault with firmware? I want to use a stock firmware based on kitkat. Does anyone have a link to the firmware which doesn't have this problem? I was previously on Lollipop and downgraded to KitKat.
you will have to get used to it. it is due to incompatibility with your upgraded bootloader(lollipop) and kitkat ROM. downgrading bootloaders is not advisable since there are many users who bricked their devices in the process.

I upgraded my tablet to 4.2.1 and have enjoyed it until recently it's become ridden with reboots (mostly when using mx player) and battery life and speed seems to be suffering also.
I saw that it is possible to downgrade the firmware ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195883 )
Now will this downgrade the bootloader also? Or will the new bootloader still be present?

I have gone between 4.2(10.6.1.8) and 4.1(10.4.2.20) five times with no issues. Your bootloader will also be updated.
The only thing cant do is downgrade to ics once on jb and bootloader stuck there but can downgrade as far as want just cant go back to ics.
Hello Android gurus
I tried to find the answer to my problem in the other threads, but I'm still not 100% sure if I should proceed.
. I had rooted xt1032 moto g prior to 5.0.2 OTA that came out yesterday.
I used full unroot with supersu prior to applying the OTA thinking it would be ok. I guess I screwed up, my phone is soft bricked.
I can get in stock recovery but otherwise it is on boot loop and ends up with 'no command'.
I have the moving line problem on the bootloader white screen which seems to imply a diferent version of kernel and bootloader, (which I do not full understand)
.. Which makes we wonder if it is unsafe to flash the stock rom 4.4.4 image of my phone.
And if it is safe, will I be able to update via OTA after that?
What are my options? Thanks in advance!
The moving line issue is probably due to the fact that you have the 41.18 bootloader on your phone.
I also have a Koodo xt1032 with the 41.18 bootloader and was able to flash back to stock Telus 4.4.4. Do not flash stock 4.4.2 as other XDA members have said that flashing 4.4.2 would brick your phone.
I'm checking for OTA updates but I keep getting the message that my phone's software is up to date.
I have done flashing and rooting in the past on both a Samsung Charge, Nexus and S3, but it's been a while. Ive used Odin, and the TOOLKIT, and am somewhat familiar with both.
I have had my S3 for several years, STOCK, STOCK, STOCK, and liked it just the way it was. I had a WIFI tethering app, SVTP that worked, and didnt take updates for fear it would quit working, well I accidentally took an update, and now it doesnt work.
Id like to reflash the phone back to a previous stock software, I forget which one I had, but currently here is my phone info
SCH-I535
4.3
I535VRUCML1
KERNEL 3.0.31
build JSS15J.I535VRUCML1
hardware I535.10
I believe I had Jellybean, or a 4.0 firmware.
How should I flash this back, and where can I download the files and the correct version of ODIN?
So i attempted to flash an older OS 4.0 i think, with odin, and It said ABOOT FAIL! and I kind of bricked it. Was I supposed to unlock the boot loader or wipe the device before doing this?
Now I got it connected to kies and am in the process of downloading latest Samsung OS to phone, so i can try again.
What did I do wrong?

As long as your not on the NC1 or NE1 baseband/firmware you can indeed revert back to an older version. And you do indeed have to unlock the bootloader to revert to a previous version of Android
In my personal opinion your best bet is the casual root/unlock method which will do both for you

so i have NE1 now. Why cant i downgrade anymore?
Tonight im going to reattempt to flash 4.1 with odin, unlocking bootloader first.
my only othed issue is i can find very few versions of Stock OS on web. There should be like 5 or 6 for this phone, ive only found 2 or 3. Please point me in direction of any stock OS files.

Because your on a locked bootloader and downgrading now would brick your device

Is there no method to unlock these firmwares currently?
if so does anyone have an S3 for sale that has older firmware?

Check swappa for that. I know brand new ones have the newest firmware, your better bet is swappa
And no they are locked down tightly, unlocking is nearly impossible

what if i soft brick it on purpose, can i somehow download an older version via kies once soft bricked?

No, you can't get around the locked bootloader. Your stuck on it

I believe even the 4.3 ML1 update will lock your bootloader. The 4.4.2 NE1 definitely will. There's no known way to revert back to an unlocked bootloader.

You are correct. I did a quick search and those who took the 4.3 ML1 OTA are indeed on a locked bootloader

Okay, so I recently bought a used Moto G LTE, seller said it would be on Lollipop 5.1. When I received it, it had been rolled back to 4.4.4. Hence the screen ripple at every boot up (which persists until the phone is locked and then unlocked) that almost gave me a heart attack the first time. A little googling later I learn this happens because while you can downgrade android the upgraded version's bootloader remains. So last night I finally got around to rooting since I just can't go from a rooted phone to living with a non rooted one, feels like my phone has a noose around it. Anyway I wanted to know if it's safe to flash CM on my phone now or should I reupgrade to 5.1 first? And if I should is there a way to get it to update OTA again? If not any suggestions where to find the firmware? I just want to feel free to flash roms without bricking my phone. Hi.
In my xt1040, i can flash CM 12 lollipop or a stock rom based from kitkat 4.4.4 without problems (I have a updated bootloader), to get OTA updates again, its necessary flash the stock rom (KK or LP), without root, PURE stock (with all "bloatware").
Now im using a optimized rom from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-lollipop-rom-t3142816
No bugs, amazing battery life, and a pure stock, no "bloatware", great ram management.
Sorry for bad english.

You'll have to wipe the system anyway, updating it will be a waste of time...
I had Nougat(L19C636B360) when I bought my phone. The box had model "AL-10" written on it although the firmware was of L-19. Anyways, an OTA update arrived, I clicked on update and it got bricked. I had never unlocked the bootloader, rooted or anything. After a lot of trial and error, I successfully got my phone working by flashing MM 6.0 - FRD-L19C900B131 through 'dload' method. But this firmware is buggy as hell. My phone's laggy, crashes constantly, the photos are worse etc.
A found a couple of stock firmware packages(L19C636B360) on the forum but they come with two separate files(update.zip and updata_data_full_hw_specxx.zip) and my phone doesn't support them(Installation fail). Also they are of only 2-2.5GB, whereas the one I successfully flashed is 3.3GB
Note : I have unlocked the bootloader now
And you are developer?
Wrong forum to post buddy.
