Hi did you find a workaround for that. I would like to buy a mobiwire sakari. Something I maybe would try is to rename other apks to e.g. "whatsapp_4.5.6..." I'm not sure if this phone supports what's app updates?

How did you enable USB debugging? I have noticed that when I install WhatsApp.apk, it will install, but not when I rename other apps the same. Have you had any luck?

I got one of these phones today, after installing whatsapp and facebook light I suspect the apk files are signed for the device as the apps are not installed using the play store but rather a direct link on the phone. If anyone figures out how to instal other apk files please share. it would be great to get google calendar installed!

I asked MobiWire if they could help/allow us to install other apps, but their reply made it seem like either their customer services didn't know, or they didn't want to help:
"Unfortunately, it is not possible to install apps on Sakari, since it’s not an Android phone.
However, Sakari is sold with 2 preinstalled apps: Whatsapp and Facebook."

How did you enable USB debugging

Hey mate, heres how I got whatsapp on my Vodafone NZ Mobiwire Sakari:
Download the apk of WhatsApp from somewhere (just google 'whatsapp apk', sorry mate, im not allowed to post links yet XD)
Enable USB debugging on the phone (look at the reply I left to 1337philip down below to see how)
Copy the downloaded apk to the phone (internal storage or sd card, anyone you choose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Go to file manager on the phone and go to the location where you saved the apk and click it and follow the install process
When done click 'Open' and walla!
WhatsApp on your phone! (it should also be on the home screen)
Glad to be a help, mate
Thanks!

How many times did you press it? Did you update the phone before being able to do this? What is your build number? I can't seem to press it enough. Has anyone else successfully managed to do this with build number Vodafone_Sakari_SKU3_L_V06_170719_MP? Thanks

Important update
My birthday is on March 31st... So pretty recent... And that's when my mum bought me this phone. (Btw I'm 12 soooooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (yeeee ik, big ****ing shocker there XD)) I have been fixing phones and PC's as a job to earn a bit more money for my fursuit (yes, I am a furry XD). And as soon as I found out this thing ran Android... I ****ing flipped. So I am self assuming power of the Mobiwire Sakari modding community >.
You didn't come here to hear me rambling on about my life and ****.
I got into the boot menu

It sounds like my build number doesn't allow developer mode. I've pressed it 100 times with no luck.

Hi there. How far did you get with app installation on the sakari? I have WhatsApp and Facebook. Ideally would like maybe a document editor and reader and some other functional stuff. Not gaming. I want this as a no nonsense workhorse. Keep posting. By the way I couldn't spam the middle button. It does nothing when I follow that step

I finally found a device which can enable developer mode. It's build number Vodafone_Sakari_SKU3_L_V04_170519_MP (it took for tries to find it) . I'm assuming that the 1707** builds won't allow it, but the 1705** builds will. Not sure why - but I couldn't get my 170719 phone to get into developer mode, no matter what I did.

What are the chances of flashing the 1707** phones to a 1705** firmware?

Welcome to family
Uhh, those answers are not completly correct.
Yes, you can browse the files via homebrew apps (search for TouchXplorer, Root tools etc.) but it depends on your phone model (not all phones have the necessary exploits).
However, as some genius guys here on XDA made progress with executing our own native code, you can expect nearly everything in the future...
I think you know it, you need an unlocked device for those kind of things (Interop or even full unlock)

here's the working by the developers
http://youtu.be/WkJ8jeWb0V0
you can remotely switch on wifi via sms even see call sms log record voice....
so this app is the beloved one to track your lost device and have it in your sight to make sure no one gets their hands on your loved droid
heres the description as in the google play
Cerberus helps you get back your lost or stolen Android device.
Cerberus is a complete anti-theft application, the best protection you can get to recover your misplaced, lost or stolen Android device. This is a free trial for one week, then you can buy a lifetime license for a small price (2.99€) from within the application: no monthly or yearly fees, just a one-time payment. License is associated to your Cerberus account, if you have multiple devices you can use all of them (up to 5) with the same account.
It has three ways to protect your device:
- Remote control through the website www.cerberusapp.com
- Remote control via text messages
- SIM Checker (for devices that have a SIM card): you will automatically receive alerts if someone uses your phone with an unauthorized SIM card
Remote control allows you to perform many operations on your device, like:
- Locate and track it
- Start a loud alarm, even if the device is set to silent mode
- Wipe the internal memory and the SD card
- Hide Cerberus from the app drawer
- Lock the device with a code
- Record audio from the microphone
- Get a list of last calls sent and received
- Get information about network and operator the device is connected to
- And much more!
Cerberus automatically enables GPS if it is off when you try to localize your device (only on Android < 2.3.3) and you can protect it from unauthorized uninstalling - more info in the app configuration.
The app works even if the device does not have an internet connection thanks to remote control by sms messages. Also, the SIM Checker feature allows you to know the new number to send texts to, if the SIM card is changed. Texts received and sent for Cerberus remote control will not start any notification and will not appear in the Messages application.
Cerberus does not drain the battery because there is no background service running: it will activate only if there is a remote control request and will stop afterwards.
More features for rooted devices: complete uninstall protection (a thief will be able to delete Cerberus only by flashing another ROM), GPS auto-enabling even on Android > 2.3.3. More info on the website in the Help section.
If you already bought SIM Checker Pro you can have Cerberus at a discounted price, contact us for information.

[GUIDE][HOW TO]Edit Earphones Connected

I don't know if others are having this problem, but many of the screen shots I took don't load at first. Try a few refreshes, it should make the how to easier to follow.
So I only recently tried this out. I haven't found any glaring issues with it, but a backup is recommended just in case. No warranty, I'm not responsible if somehow this breaks/bricks your phone, causes your phone to not dial during an emergency, etc.
Also I didn't really proofread this as I don't have a large amount of time available, so sorry for any dumb grammar errors. I'll look it over eventually.
I didn't like the choices that Samsung provided in the Earphones Connected options for the notification drop down. Here is example of the stock:
My original hope was to remove it completely, but I wasn't successful with my first attempts. Instead I found that I could edit the SQLite database contained within. This allows one to add custom applications as they see fit.
If you want to remove it completely:

Requirements:
Galaxy S3 with stock or near stock firmware (CM9/CM10 will won't have Earphones Connected options to my knowledge)
Root Access
SQLite Editor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
Free version doesn't seem to work. Try if you insist:
SQLite Editor(Free version SQLite editor, thanks eschelon)
It appears the free one is a version behind. 1.4.1, maybe they will update it eventually.
Where the pay for app is 1.5
1.5 had some ICS compatibility added..
Step 1)
Open SQLite
You should get a screen like this:
Step 2)
Tap "TouchWiz home"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then tap "launcher.db"
Then tap "appOrder" ...
Step 3)
This should bring you to the SQLite table for your app drawer. This will list the info we need for launching the app of you choosing. For this example we will use Google Maps as our app of choice. The screen should like similar to this, (a jumbled mess):
From here you want to hit the menu button and select "Set Filter
Type in maps, and click ok:
Step 4)
Now you will have a bit more manageable table. Press and hold on maps until you get this pop up and select "Edit Record".
Step 5)
Scroll down and copy the "componentName" data:
Step 6)
Press back until you get to the database lists again. Then tap the "ContextAwareService"
Step 7)
Tap "logDatabase.db" ...
Then tap "appLogTable"
side note: sqlite_sequence determines what number the next entry will be in the table. This may be necessary to know in case there are too many apps in the table and the ones you try to add don't show on the screen. Also if I remember right setting this to 0 will reset you to default applications and clear your changes, although it doesn't always fix problems with crashes if you experience them. I would still do a nandroid and/or titanium backup just in case
Step 8)
You should now have a screen like this: (you may notice google play is already on my list, ignore that)
Press the menu button and select "New Record"
Side note: You can long press the other entries and delete them as you please if there are particular ones you don't want listed. I'd recommend at least screen shot before doing so. I wouldn't actually do this, as I think I found a more stable work around for unwanted apps: See here.
Step 9)
Warning a lot of people are gettings this error on this step:"Record creation failed-unable to open database file"
I am unaware of the cause or how to fix it as of yet. I am using the paid for version myself, so I don't know if that makes some sort of difference. I would doubt that it does. Also I am on the Bean rom.
Please post if you have failure or success and what rom you are using as well as if you used the free or paid version of the app.
Now paste the earlier copied text into the "activity_name" section.
Paste the earlier copied text up to the / in the "pkg_name" section (See the screen shot for example)
Tap "save"
side note:The last field "exec_freq_with_headset" seems to keep track of how many times you launch the app through the notification menu. So far it seems to order the most frequently used on the left, and the lest frequently used on the right. Although you shouldn't need to add any number there as it will default to 0. This should better explain the "exec_freq_with_headset"
Woot Done:
Plug in some headphones and see what it looks like:
Thanks for the idea:

Were the headphones still plugged in? Maybe it was still accessing the database when you attempted to edit it?
Another thought is to close out SQLite Editor and reopen it, maybe once you used Play Music it incremented the "exec_freq_with_headset" field and the editor didn't see the update yet.

I didn't plug the headphones in at all.
I will now try again after exiting the program completely
EDIT: Nope, still says "unable to open database file". The text fields that I copy from those apps are noticeably smaller than the one for Play Music....something to do with it?

Interesting...if I try to DELETE one of the entries, it also says "Unable to open database file"...there's a connection here that I'm not seeing

I'll try downloading those apps, see if I have any similar issues.
Working fine for me. I can post a screen shot later. I gotta run some errands.
Only tried Pandora, but it worked just fine. I have yet to run into the same problem with the database files not opening. Maybe a reboot or clear cache/dalvik cache. Those are my usual attempts when I feel stumped.
Looking forward to this. Will try this tomorrow
Sent from my locked Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III
Thank you, will try this tomorrow and comment (edit) on if it worked for me.

nice. was just in the subway today wondering if there was a way to change those, since i would like to add spotify and poweramp in the list. thanks!
I messed up my database, somehow causing the process to continually crash. Which in the past I was able to delete everything and it went back to the default. This time it went back to default but still crashed. So I did a restore from titanium backup and it was back to normal. So probably backup in between each edit. Also the "exec_freq_with_headset" seems to be based on your total number of apps. So if you have like 10 total the one with 10 will show up on the far left, up to 5 will show. I hope this makes sense.
10 ... 9 ... 8 ... 7 ... 6
This seems to negate the need to delete any of them. Also I think deleting may have caused my process to crash previously.
Heres some screen shots to explain it: (if i put one of the app's "exec_freq_with_headset" to 11 it would shift all the rest to the right one and knock the farthest right one off the screen's visibility. But if I set to 12 I think it will cause crash issues.)
When I try to save (step 9), it won't and I get the error "Record creation failed-unable to open database file"
Happened when I tried to add MortPlayer, Listen, and Pandora. None would save. I'm rooted and running regular Touchwiz rom.
Also, I noticed that in Step 3 most of my apps were not listed, including many of my favorite audio apps. I realized that this is because I'm using a different launcher (Apex), and only the apps that were on the Samsung launcher before I started using Apex were showing up. To fix this, I cleared Apex as the default launcher, launched the Samsung launcher, let all the apps show in the app drawer, then started over with your steps. This time all the apps were there in Step 3.

I tried the free version now that I got home and found I am getting the same error. I don't know how they are different, but it just won't work for me. I also couldn't get any screen shots while in the free app, I don't know why. I getting out my Gnex to take a photo of it not working.
It appears the free one is a version behind. 1.4.1

[Q] issues with my brand new galaxy s5

hi guys, i just got my galaxy s5 2 days ago,
i can tell it seems nice, but?
1- the tapping sometimes seems not callebrated!! like when i click to show the menu in data usage, it gives me the list to select/unselect the "restrict background data" but i can't select it!! same in many other menus, these menues which they changed from the press bottun hardware into a software menu to select, i can't select the ristrict background data, it is either going to above it "data roaming" or below it "enable wifi measure" how i can callebrate it? how i can make the touch work fine!!?? i even tried to use a thin pen softly many times, i just can't control some menus like the one i said about, also in messages (SMS) when trying to open a first message in the list, it opens for me "create new message instead" looks like the hit comes on the place that is above what i tap!!! any idea why?
2- i want to make the clock alarm put the das like S M T W T F S, but it keep reading starts from Monday, i've selected the regional settings correct "Dubai/ UAE" and made sure that is all like my old S3 which was fine, but i just couldn't make it appear as startting from Sunday!!! any idea?
3- when i am on the home screen, going right, goes to the right page, fine, going right again, goes to the next page, fine, but if i go left, it opens the magazine thing, i don't want it, i just want it to open the last page normally like you are flipping the pages, how i can do that?
4- the usb input place is really disgussting, everytime you need to carefully remove the cover and each ones you have to make sure you do it carefully not to spoil it, is seems thin and can't handle pressure, i just don't know why they put it,,,, any idea how to remove it "without breaking it" out of the device, so to keep it aside and may use it later for example??
thanks for your time guys

I've made control F and typed galaxy s5 and galaxy s 5 in the main xda forums page but nothing was found, so i thought it is not yet been created as it is new phone
ok please move it to that one, i am still looking for those answers though
On the top-right side of this page you will find a search bar with: "Type to find your device..." and a small phone icon to the right of said bar. In there, type Galaxy S5. You will see on a drop down list with all of the variants of the S5. Click whichever applies to you, be it the Sprint variant, etc. Since you state you use the Dubai format you may want to go for the international variant. We won't be able to help as this is the S4 forum, however, the S5 forums are definitely active and available.
The S5 was terrible. I'm back to my S4 and happy. It is a step back. No SV-LTE for starters.
Moved to Sprint S5 Q&A.

Anyone getting the camera failed message? Full battery and have wiped data still wont load.

[APP][4.0+] Easy way to schedule Volumes and ringtone

Why you need Volume Scheduler? The reasons are numerous to count.
Firstly, it seems to be much irritating when your mobile rings during a meeting, business conference and other sensitive occasions. You may put your mobile on silence mode but sometimes you forget to do that.
Secondly, in case your mobile is on silence there are many chances that you did not remember to activate the ringtone while an important call is awaiting for you.
Thirdly, assume you are in a crowded place and your mobile constantly rings in your pocket and you are unable to listen to the ringtone.
What can you do in these troublesome situations?
Install the Volume Scheduler app for android that can easily and automatically change the ringtone volume of your phone from low to high and high to low based on the schedule you provide.
There are plenty of apps that do the same job, but they are very complicated, for such a basic and easy task you should just provide time and volume levels, that's all.
but most of the apps are asking for list of settings to configure, like change profile when gps location is active, selected wifi connection is active and so on. and this cost you more battery loss and also occupies more memory of the phone.
Volume Scheduler is very simple app that do not use any background service neither it uses gps, wifi and such other android services to change the profile, you simply need to specify the time you want to change the profile, most of the time you are well aware of your schedule, still some time things are not as per schedule like you get late to office, or at home, so app provide you the snooze/postponed options, so you can postponed applying the silent / loud profile by just single tap.
try the app and you will find how its very clear and simple app on this category, and how its helps smartly changing volume levels, ringtones and notification tones.
Ringer mode options: Silent mode, Normal mode or Vibrate Mode.

Thanks alot ! Really
to be honest I found something but I can't figure out how to only change the headphone volume of Stream_music
In a shell it looks like :
su
service call audio 3 i32 3 i32 15 i32 1
//The first 3 is a selection for audio manager function
The second 3 from what I understand is the stream selection
15 is volume level
1 is flag
I can set media volume with this command but it changed the current output speakers/headphones (if headphones plugged it will set volume for headphones but if headphones are disconnected it will change volume for speakers)
I know I'm close I just can't figure out how to change only headphones volume even if headphones are unplugged
Thank you
Thank you for your feedback.

Hi!
I can edit the profile but when I try to activate it, when I press Apply it does not work? Any suggestions? (using OPO3 with OOS 3.5.5. CB9). Thanx
You must grant read storage permission
Since Android M (6.0) you must grant Read storage permission when app asks for it.
if you have denied it, you should reinstall app and grant next time.
