Full Screen Pop Up Ad - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Guys I need some help. A full screen pop up ad keeps appearing on my device whenever I do anything, even using system apps. For some reason the Antivirus function of the phone management doesn't detect it. And it's really annoying. Just appeared as I'm typing this. Really need to get rid of this thing.

You don't have old backups on which rely? Sounds like a malware hidden in other apps, or in your OS. Try to take a scan with Malware Bytes https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware or as last chance, reflash full firmware.

Got it sorted out. Apparently, a theme for the theme app was a malware. I used 360 security and got rid of it.

Security concern

I use official roms.
I tried all kind of messy and useless apps a few days ago when I planned a factory reset under privacy.I doubt those apps' safety.
I afraid that a virus or malware affected the system, can a factory reset completely clear all of them including internal SD(no external)?
I'm wondering if they could enter the system restore partition. I updated to GB after the factory reset.
Thanks
Y use official roms?

I heard it might not be. source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197167
Now I updated my infuse to gingerbread, which means that OS is updated. Coming back to my normal life, I installed those Apps that I'm sure there would not be virus or malware. I think the whole ROM was replaced during the update.
I accidentally turned on Google Back up service, is it possible bring "those stuff" back?
Thanks

Do you have a virus or malware running on your phone or are you just asking in case something happens? I'm lost, your paragraph above is confusing as hell.

yeah, kinda hard to help. I do NOT understand what your are saying....at all. if you are worried about a virus...plenty of anti virus solutions on market. I use NetQin and forget about it.

Lookout. It look out for me? Maybe? lol.
OP is saying that a few days ago, he or she installed some untrustworthy apps. Subsequently, OP did a factory reset and installed GB. Then OP put only trusted apps on the phone. The question now is whether the untrustworthy apps from a few days ago could have some residual effects that still pose a threat (via Google Backup or otherwise), despite the subsequent factory reset and GB installation.

Thank you sir.. Umm.. I doubt it. I think that should be sufficient. Reactor, do you mind sharing the app with malicious intent?
ill just say with computers almost anything is possible. a virus surviving the update as well as a factory reset through settings>privacy is not likely though. that would only be plausible if you had root and the virus made backups on the system partition and data partition or sdcard one to survive the update and one to survive a reset. but if you want secure you could reset through settings>privacy then Odin the update again without reboot selected, then power down and boot into recovery and wipe data from there then install apps. also don't root the phone and don't install apps from pdanet or other illegitimate sources of apps.
but when it comes down to it malware on phones is kinda rare and most of it wont be able to get root permissions on the new update. just download apps with a degree of discretion and stay away from alternative sources for apps.
If you didn't have any malware or viruses before you started installing apps, then it may just be an app that may be spamming out junk and crap into your notification bar and etc. Best thing you can do is track and delete the app causing you problems. I was using an app called Speed Booster Lite, I found out it was spamming ads in my notification bar, I deleted the app and the crap was gone for good. If you Factory Reset your entire phone, Your virus or malware is likely to be gone for good since you erase all files and cache from the internal hard drive on the phone. Your phone is like your computer, If you reinstall windows after you have had viruses, there completely gone!
Edit: As far as Prevention against malware and viruses, I find a lot of these apps to be complete BS and a lot of them do absolutely nothing for you but hog up resources on your phone.

[Q] Bad Playstore App, What Shoud I Do?

I downloaded a "fake" app from the play store. It was a fake version of Adaway, I didn't know it was no longer on the Play Store and I forgot to back it up. The one I downloaded was just a bunch of ads for crappy apps/games. Should I be worried or anything? I gave it the regular app permissions (view contacts, messages, blah blah). I did a scan with AVG mobile and got the real Adaway and I don't notice anything wrong atm.
I feel really dumb for falling for such a obvious trick. The app on the Play Store was removed literally within 20 minutes of me installing then uninstalling it. that is what has me most worried.
I'd still be worried. Fake app might have just been a vehicle for the ads. But may have also contain other exploits that AVG might not know about or be able to detect yet.
Factory reset and start from scratch, if you want to remove all doubt.

I wiped, reflashed, and changed my passwords. Hope I'll be smart enough not to do this again .

[Q] 360 Security needs root access to remove trojan

Hi!
I have an LG G2 on T-Mobile - for the 2 months I've had it, the device has been real swell. Super fast, nice screen, whatever.
I have AVG Security installed, as well as Lookout Mobile Security and 360 Security. I'm paranoid, whatever.
So I was doing a scan using 360 Security, because my phone was acting slow (OH NO AN LG G2 HAS BEEN SLOW WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO!!!). The scan concluded that I trojan. Specifically, it says:
Malware(1)
demo stub
Trojan(In ROM)
So I tap on "Finish", which leads be back to the screen for scanning the phone. I then tap on "Resolve All", which brings up a pop-up message box:
"Warning
The listed malicious programs have been flashed into the system directory. Root privileges are required to remove them. Please grant root privileges to 360 Security or re-flash your device with an official ROM.
demo stub
Trojan"
My only option here is to click "OK", at which point nothing else happens.
1. How can I allow 360 Security root access?
2. I've never rooted my device, nor have I done anything fancy with it (except I've been using Nova Launcher, that shouldn't cause any issues), so how could this have happened? No apps from unknown sources have been downloaded - and any app from the playstore that was scanned upon downloading as adware, malware, trojan, or posing any security threat was uninstalled immediately.
I really don't know a lot about this stuff, so I'm worried my phone will only get progressively slower, and perhaps someone out there is accessing any "information" on my phone. So how can I get 360 Security root access so it remove the trojan?
Thank you in advance!
i don't trust any antivirus app on my android
what i'm do if my phones become slow down, i'm just backup all the data+app and factory reset it.
btw if you want to get 360 security root access you must get rooted
Alright, thank you Arch9. What do you use to backup your phone?
Will factory resetting get rid of the Trojan?

Root Without Unlocking Bootloader

Hello All
How long does it usually take for root Without Unlocking the Bootloader to come out?
This is the only reason I have not purchased this phone yet.
So frustrated there will be no decent normal sized Nexus 6 and the Z3 loses camera features when unlocked ?
No ETA pls
Let's wait

There is no "usual" number. Some phones got root before they were even out officially. Some took a few days. Some took over a month. And some end up retired without a safe root option.
First rule of xda: don't ask for eta
I know that. Just another frustration with android. We need more Nexus phones!

I never thought I could use this phone without root but it turns out I'm wrong. Not really seeing any need for it at the present moment
I like to be about to restore all my data and apps with Titanium Backup. So much easier.

I have nothing but force closes when restoring with titanium unless the ROM is very similar anyway. Like I was using AOSP on my Z before so I just came in fresh. Less issues down the road

I've never had an issue switching ROM's being careful to avoid system apps and only restoring the call logs and SMS database, as well as non-system apps.
Everyone is different ☺ I also do nightly backups and sync with Dropbox.

Never thought of using adblockers like AdAway, preventing a total waste of mobile data for loading unwanted ads which easily consume ten times the data needed ?
Never thought of kicking out bloatware also wasting your ressources ?
Would love to see root but for now I can manage quite fine without it... There is less bloatware then with certain other brands and you can uninstall or disable quite a bit.
The few things I WOULD like:
* Completely remove unused system apps
* Change LCD Density (it's all soooo big now)
* Full SDCard read/write access for all apps. (I love quickpic as a gallery, but because I save my pics/vids to sdcard it can not remove anything now)
* Titanium backup. Have never ever had issues with this (only user apps+data for me most of the time) and that's with switching between different roms, brands, aosp/stock, etc... Never failed me

ABP doesn't require root and all of the bloat apps can be uninstalled or disabled / blocked using package manager.

ABP (please call it "Adblock Plus" so every readers knows what's meant) does not require root, but it's not too capable running under Android. It does a brilliant job with FireFox and Windows, but the Android implementation only captures a fracture of annoying ads. And: No plugin for defining your own black lists under Android.
AdAway additionally removes annoying ads from a wealth of apps. Just doesn't work without root.
Ok, I can hear you: "If everybody uses that means, app developers won't get paid."
Yes, that's correct.
But:
a) If I really like an app, I'll buy it. Example: Poweramp. NO ads, no annoyance. It just stops working after some time. I regard that as ok. I do NOT like apps getting on my nerves all the time.
My formula is simple: Annoying ads = deinstall, no purchase.
b) A majority of free app developers uses that "evil" ads, appearing at places previously occupied by regular buttons - so you tap on them although you just don't want to.
If that bad behavior gets to a stop, I'll think about disabling AdAway again. Fair play - but on BOTH sides.

[Q] Is it possible to remove adware without removing the app

This is probably a stupid question but...
I've been trying for the past 3 days to download this app from the Google play store, but it says it's incompatible with my device (Xperia SP).
I've used Market Helper and it didn't work.
I've tried editing my build.prop and it bricked my phone (lol) I recovered it but lost all my contacts
Anyway, I've resorted to sideloading it. The problem is, since I've installed it I'm getting push ad notifications and popups on my home screen, browser etc.
So, is there anything I can download to stop the adware or somehow remove the adware without uninstalling said app?
Thanks

That makes no sense. What do you mean by removing that without uninstalling ? Your statement is self contradictory.
If you are rooted you can freeze that app using Titanium Backup.
Why don't you try AdAway ?

Hi, I mean I want to keep the app but I also want to stop it from putting ads on my phone and notification bar as well.
I just downloaded AdAway and turned off notifications from that app in the settings so hopefully that will work.
Thanks a lot

You are welcome.AdWare is supposed to block and remove ads and notifications on your phone. If you are still getting ads or the app itself is putting ads and notifications then it's not serving the purpose either it's not working or malfunctioning (broken codes).
Is that an Ad-supported app ?If it is,then that's not an issue.AdAway will block those ads.
