Warning says no voice service available??? - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

The mobile service at my home is much worse with the Pixel 2/fi. I can deal with this to a degree given how much less $ it costs me each month. I sometimes get a notification that's the same as the one I have for texts. When I look at the phone there is a triangle in the status bar and upon selecting it I'm given a message that voice service isn't available. Is this something I can avoid getting notification of?
Thanks

HTC One X on AT&T

Would like some input. I have the HTC One X on AT&T having the same issues and more. I can not receive phone calls and once in a while I cant make a call either. ( sim card replaced twice) Needless to say the phone is four days old. I'm taking it in the afternoon to be replaced. I have a few questions.
1. What serial number/numbers have the "fix"?
2. Should I honestly just select another device all together? If yes, any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance
This seems like a manufacture defect and not a reason to reject the phone all together
Try a replacement and I bet your issues go away

Thank you both for the help. Phone replaced yesterday evening. The reception is some what improved. Now I have a GPS issue. Shows me in a location I'm no where close to.
I'm not insulting you when I ask this, but do you have GPS on? I'm assuming you are opening Maps and checking where your location is, but maybe you haven't ticked it on.
On that note, the GPS on this phone is REALLY good IMO. I'm comparing it to my SGSII and the HTC seems far better and quicker.

Yes sir, GPS is selected. Map's and the HTC weather show me in different location than where I'm located.

Go into Play Store and download GPS Status and Tools. Fire that up, go into Tools-->Manage A-GPS state, select reset, then go back into that menu and select download. Set the phone down outside in an area with good line of sight to a lot of sky (i.e. not near tall buildings) and let it aquire GPS lock in that app.
See how many satellites it's able to lock onto.
Fix= 14 Sats =21
I also notice the GPC icon never comes on. Using the GPS status is the first time i seen it.

I have had the issue you are having with other Android devices. Sometimes it isn't a hardware issue and could be a software one. Closing apps, restarting them and factory resetting the device could either temporarily address the problems you are having or fix them entirely. I'm returning my One X because of the problems I have had with it.
I am waiting for my 4th HTC one x from att in 2 months. 1st had random reboots second had grey blotches on the screen. 3rd was a refurb that came with a dead pixel. I wonder what the fourth will bring. When I contacted att about they grey blotches the warranty rep told me they weren't that bad and to just live with it. If I was still in my return period I would have gotten something else.

Gps never comes on for what, Google maps? To save battery life I always leave gps off and yes maps will not automatically turn it on. For that I use switchpro widget which allows me to have a set of toggles in the notification pull down with all of my favorite switches like wifi, gps, blue tooth, silent mode and settings shortcut. Whenever I load up maps I will just pull the notification bar down and turn gps on manually, it takes just a few seconds to do it and it is well worth the savings in battery life to manage the various wireless capabilities of the phone this way.
The reason gps icon probably doesn't appear for you when you launch maps is likely that you dismissed the location services screen upon first start of maps. If you clear cache and data for the maps app and then enable gps on the location services screen at first launch of maps it should fix your issue.

Would love ticker style notification.

I wish I could have ticker style notifications slowly moving from right to left on the second screen.
Upcoming calendar events... Right to left..
Breaking news.... Right to left.
Some Google now cards.. Right to left.
Etc. Etc.
Back when I had my galaxy s3 years ago there was a news style ticker at the unlock screen and you'd get news headlines. It was great.. Wish this phone did the same.

I second this. It's what I imagined the functionality would've been. Honestly if you have a second screen there is no reason for its exclusion.
Omg yws! $20 bounty here.

I'll pledge 10$ for this bounty!
10 here too
I was hoping the second screen would be more configurable in this way too.
Even receiving a text message, it doesn't scroll for longer than a few seconds, often not enough to see past the first few words.
A configurable notification ticker would be amazing. If anyone takes it up I'll plunk some down on the bounty. Ten dollars American.

If it worked on second screen yes.
I emailed the developers to find out if it works on the second screen
Would be great if it worked with the V10 second screen.
The best I could do was disable heads up. Seems that the adb command adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0 works for that. But other than that, no idea how to make it stick around longer
....
When I play music it scrolls through like a ticket notification...I don't get whyot won't do so with messages or any other notifications... [emoji782] [emoji782] [emoji782]

You could try asking in the t-mobile v10 section since that's really the only rooted version maybe someone would be interested in trying it...

White pages

Anyone have the white pages options? I thought there were supposed to be settings built into the dialer.
I haven't received any random phone calls to see if this is active
The normal Google Rom used to have it but I've never seen it on a Samsung device.

I wonder if carriers removed it because it competes with one of their services.
Hmmm good question
has the elimination of the White Pages integration in the US been confirmed? I was really looking forward to this! I Have not been able to find anything concrete either way.
The only thing I have seen is you can search local businesses in contacts to call them.
It definitely is not on the T-Mobile variants. Same for the Galaxy Labs settings.
Definitely there on mine! Kept promoting me to start the 10 day trial. Bummed that it's a pay-for service...

I saw something in the set up process for the Sprint S7 related to showing information about spam callers and there is an option under Phone > More > Settings for it. I think this is white pages.

Are you sure that wasn't tmobile ID service that costs 3.99 a month. I have a feeling tmobile removed this from S7 on their network because Samsung's solution is a direct competitor to their paid service.

I have the T-Mobile variant and searching businesses in the dialer is there for me. In the phone app go to the Contacts tab and tap on the search bar, then a dropdown box appears asking if you want to turn Tips on. Click it and an agreement form pops up, click ok, and I can search businesses right in the dialer.

Not much because i bought this phone only 3 months ago. But even i bought it a year ago, there are no reason to active a home screen for long time we can play game, read book, surf web , but no one just let home screen stay active to look at it in long time. That why this is realyy weird to me )
I just wonder will Samsung replace the screen for me under warranty ?

since i bought the phone and i'm really afraid of this, i agree with you have no way to open the homescreen all the time and even though other icons should burn in :/
i don't know about the warranty but i hope they replace for you
Keeping your screen at full brightness with longer screen time out is going to do this. Never keep a static image on any non LED screen for a long period of time.

Because they never send a new phones... also most likely the screen they replaced was not new one either and thus it was used for quite a long time, maybe in a bad ways that set it close to burn out(yep, it's called burn out = pixels fade). It's not fair to have warranty only to be send/replaced with used parts and phones... but yes, if you read the warranty - it's legal.
Have a replacement on the way, told Att I just wasn't happy with the display. So hopefully the replacement will be better.

Did anyone else get their free Google home mini

Received an email yesterday informing be that since I had purchased a Pixel 2, I was eligible for a complimentary home mini. Chose the coral over, even though it doesn't match anything in the house. Good way for Google to start the robot home invasion.

I think most people got one. Here in the UK I think the promotion is still ongoing.
I tried to refuse it, on the grounds that I had no use for it so it was just a waste of resources to send it to me, but that was clearly too complicated a concept for the corporations. I ended up giving it away to a local charity to use as a raffle prize.

Received mine in October. I already had one already and 3 Echo dots. Use it for switches and general info. Now use the Home Mini's about 90% of the time and will be removing the Echo dots eventually.
As for Home invasion?? I have watched traffic from both the echo dots and the home mini's and I don't see anything not expected.
They do a significantly less than your smartphone does and you most likely take that everywhere you go, including your house.

Yes I received one too. I believe they decided to do this as other shops were offering it free with each purchase of a. Pixel 2
