Hello Xda community!
I'm not sure why, but recently my phone seems to be draining battery life quite quickly over night.
The really weird thing is this time, my phone was on the charger.
I put my phone on the charger before I went to bed last night, and the battery was at 65%.
When I got up the next morning, my phone was off for some reason, and I find that I only have 3% battery left.
Not sure if my battery is lying to me, but I have been running off the supposed "3%" battery life for a good 30 minutes now.
Either my battery is glitched or something else.
Any feedback is appreciated.

have you rebooted or done a battery pull yet?

First, use zeppelinrox's Die Hard Battery Calibrator, and then after you finish the steps it gives you an option to view what is taking up battery life, uninstall any apps that cause wake locks. Also, you're going to want to freeze the default android gallery and get a 3rd party Gallery (I recommend quickpic.) As the 3D gallery can cause huge battery drain.
My phone was reduced from 100 to 82 in just around 6 hours. I had data/wifi turned off as well. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Nope. With data/wifi turned on (data auto-off since Wifi is active), I lose at most 2% overnight. With airplane mode on OR data/wifi off, you should be seeing practically 0% loss.
Check your battery usage and see what's eating up the battery. Sounds like an rogue app/process that's wasting cycles or is out of control.
One of the best things about this phone is its standby life, as it seems to sip battery juice very lightly.
My battery was still 100% after I woke up today.
Nevertheless it dropped very quickly after using the phone, about 11% in 10-15 min but I assume that's completely normal after 8 hours standby.
I have a live wallpaper but it shouldn't work when is screen off. I also have setcpu set so that is practically doing nothing when the screen is off. The live wallpaper cost only 2% of my battery but standby showed 20%. I have no idea why it uses much in standby...

That means that of the whatever % battery (out of 100%) that you've used, 20% of that drain was due to standby. That's not necessarily bad. So if you have 50% charge left, then it means that (50% x .2)% of your drain was from standby. My cell standby has currently used 23% of my current drain percentage. Since your phone is often left in the sleep/not-active state, then a large % of battery drain happens in standby.
Battery usage on Android is frequently misunderstood. And keep in mind that the 2% from the LWP you used is because it's only displayed when you're on the home screen. Otherwise, it remains dormant/paused.
that's strange that you are having that much usage in standby.. i have been getting a solid day and a half out of my battery and it doesnt really use any battery in standby.. there has to be an app of some sort that is sucking the battery or still running.. i always at bedtime though clear the cache thru storage in the settings menu and end all tasks in the task manager and close all the windows/programs with the far right virtual button on the bottom of the screen.. I am a bit OCD but heck if its working why stop..lol
Area with poor cell reception? If you were in plane mode it is an app for sure.

My battery stayed the same overnight. That is with a x2 battery saver which switches off data when the phone is not used and only allows it as special intervals. I have set at 10mins intervals though which is not a huge saver.
I'm doing a test from yesterday to see how long the phone will last with my use. So far from last night im at 39% and when I first turned the phone on it was at 47% from yesterday.

I would have to agree with everyone else. I only experience 1% loss at most times overnight. Best standby battery life i've ever gotten on a HTC phone.
I actually have full bars at home so I don't think that's why. Maybe it's because it's a new battery so I'll try charging it a couple more cycles.
Lost 8% tonight (86/78). Saw this morning that the signal was not perfect. But wifi went off during the night. That should not happen. Maybe my custom rom is switching off wifi on sleep...

It's either a faulty battery or a rogue app. Shouldn't happen to a new battery either.

Use better battery stats to diagnose rogue apps.

Right.
Battery lasted up to 2:30pm being off the plug from 7 am the previous morning. So a total of 31hours.
That is with tapatalk, a bit of web browsing, a bit of WiFi and google store updating, 2 short phone calls.
The app. 2x was running on mild battery saving, mainly by cutting the data periodically when the phone is idling.
I must say that this is really good and the phone took quite a while to go from 15% to 4% after which it switched off before I noticed it again.

I have CM10.1 on my HTC One S. Everything was good until I thought my battery was miscalibrated of something. So I run the battery calibration app, let the battery drain, and then charged without interruption. Now battery won't last me more than 4 hours. Before it lasted about 6 - 8 hours, which was pretty acceptable, but 4 hours? I tried making a factory reset but didn't help. Battery drains about %20 or more per hour. What should I do? Does reflashing kernel will work? Or what? Please help..
PD. Charging also takes too long about 4 hours...

Have you reflashed the ROM?
Hello. My Moto G since I bought it has some major battery issues. It charges very slowly on the USB charger and a range of wall chargers. One night the phone turned itself off within 10 minutes of me putting it down from 35% battery to 0%. Then last night I was charging it and saw it go from 65% to fully charged in a split second. From the moment I unplug it after full charge, it will last 7 hours with moderate use. Mainly msging on whatsapp andbrowsing in chrome. So I do use it a lot in those hours whilst I'm out etc but it seems to drain whilst it's in my pocket with the screen off. The screen on time has never passed 3.5 hours with brightness on lowest.
I don't find that too bad but the random flash drainage and charging of the battery I have experienced is concerning. I mainly have 3G/H+ on and very few apps other than whatsapp and instagram plus chrome. I have tried a factory reset too. The battery usage stats is just my screen And the usual stuff.
I really think you should considering buying a new charger.

If not a new charger, return it... :S

Agreed, just return it, it's clearly faulty.

It seems pretty common this battery issues with Moto G, i was considering buying one but now i'm not so sure..
Hmm, today I carged with iPad charger (2A) and after unplug, half hour later (autosync is disabled, no games, no music, no chat etc, all possible apps disabled, not rooted) checking once email the battery level was 87%.
Strange.
I read somewhere that charging at 2A well degrade the battery with the benefit of charging it faster. Is this true?

There is current limiting built-in, with Li-ion so you won't damage or over-charge.
However, heat generated by long-term charging can degrade the battery....
See this:
Battery Charge Levels
Quite simply, it is not possible to overcharge a cell phone battery. However, leaving it plugged in for more that 24 hours can cause it to overheat, thereby shortening its overall lifespan. Most Li-ion batteries and chargers contain internal circuitry that stops the charging when it hits 100 percent, but always unplug it after long charging intervals, just to be safe.

Hi,
The battery in my moto g, the system oper. android drain a lot of % usage, 34% more than display in 6h usage.
In most cases this drain over 5 or 10% battery. What can be responsable for this consumption ?
my battery status:
5h usage - 32% screen (1h) sist oper.(35%) 4h
regards
Please post your battery stats here, including Screen On Time.
Thanks.
5 hours SOT and Still at %30
Android System and OS together are eating nearly 50% of my battery.
Same here. System and OS eating my battery.
20 hours with 4 hours SOT. I'm not complaining. Much better than the s6!
First charge with massive wakelock issues...
Completely impressed with battery life. Pretty solid so far.
Not sure how everyone is getting all these legit battery stats. I'm only getting about 4-4.5 hours screen on time.
I'm at 15% with 3 hour 45 minutes screen on. No so impressive. I charged my phone before I went to bed and lost 16% with it just sitting, while I sleep. So much for doze.
Having the same issues. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong that everyone else is getting so much better results.
Anyone else care to comment? I'm getting pretty mediocre battery life. I expected ALOT BETTER. I'm averaging 4 hours screen on time. Android system is eating 37% right now.

I'm seeing similar results. I'm getting 3 hours and 45 minutes of screen on time with Android System eating up 30+%.

Same boat here, relatively poor battery life and close to 2%/hr drain when not in use. Slightly better than my S5 active, but not much.

Got the phone 2 days ago, it's a bit early but I'm not getting crazy battery life: I listen to music a lot (5-6h/a day - Deezer or Poweramp) and get 5-6%/hour drain, a bit less (maybe 2%) while idle. Coming from a Nexus 6P this isn't great...

Anyone else have heat issues, my phone got crazy hot and I was just using fliboard no gaming or video watching.
Give it a week or so before complaining
Mine took 5 days to settle
Afterwards a constant 6.5 hr sot sometimes 8
anybody having battery issues, cycle the battery completely and it should improve. when i got my S7 and My S6 also battery was garbage. I did 2 full cycles and man im getting crazy battery after..
anyone not knowing exactly what I mean by cycle heres what I did
use the phone til it dies completely DO NOT TURN BACK ON
plug and charge til its fully charged turn back on use it again til it dies
and AGAIN DO NOT TURN IT ON just plug and charge fully before turning back on.
that was 2 full cycles did wonders for me hope it does that same for ya'll having bad battery good luck:good:
I've done two cycles. I average about 23 to 24 hours between charges. With 3 and a half hours screen time.
