I have created a magisk module based on this thread
I went through all the added values and tested all of them, finding that more than half of them are useless/non-functional. Here is the list of added (and fully functional) features in this module;
Note: This will only work on mido (SD) devices. Do not install the module on nikel (MTK)!
(I tested this on the latest MIUI 9 Global (9.0.5.0). I don't know if it'll work on custom roms)

I didn't test the module on other roms. But as far as I know, the file that is modified is used in MIUI only.

Installation:
First and maybe the most important thing is to make a backup of your current rom.
Clean flash of your rom is recommended, because this is a really deep port and you may have problems with some adds and mods.
Flash the BASE zip and right after that flash the FRAMEWORK zip intended for your rom(do not reboot between them)

ATTENTION:
If there is no HDR/HQ buttons in the app and you don't get "processing" dialog when taking picture, you will need to use the Camera HAL1 Enabler to fix this.
Download the Camera HAL1 Enabler suited for your rom listed below.
Flash it in your recovery.
Reboot in to the system and clear the camera app data.
If you have done everything correctly, you should now have HQ/HDR buttons in the app.

Most if not all the things are working good for me. Please give your feedback.

Slow motion, Time lapse, Panorama / you will need to use the OPGallery for this
Installation:
First and maybe the most important thing is to make a backup of your current rom.
If you come from other rom and clean flashing CM, just flash the OOS Camera package after everything else.
If you currently use CM rom and if you used any camera mod before this one, please dirty flash the rom, then again flash the OOS Camera package after everything else. If nothing from the above, just flash it.
You can choose to remove or not the CM stock camera and gallery when you flash the package.
To be on the safe side, wipe cache/dalvik cache after flashing it.

Just flashed this over sultan's cm - device failed to boot (boot animation keeps going without ever reaching exception pin request screen)
Tried both keeping and removing cm camera / gallery options
I flashed this on bjb RR

If I'm not mistaken, the zip does not contain a backup script, so it will be needed to reflash the camera after each nightly update.
Should probably be mentioned in the initial post.

In the OP it has been stated that the camera port is working ONLY on the original CM13.
So folks, please stop posting things like "woah, doesn't work on ROM XYZ". Thanks.

I have test with latest nightly cm13 and latest opengapps. I have remove also cm cam and cm gallery. On first start the cam make good pictures, but after this i will make a pictures this will not saved. Without touch to focus the picture are very unsharpen.
Edit: HQ is every time working, also HDR but HDR A not working, this modus will not make a picture. Whene i make a picture without hq and hdr (normal modus) i see a very long processing after i have make the picture and i must close the cam.

Are you using the official CM nightly?
I got some bugs on my PACROM so I just made a clean install of latest CM and is working like a charm.

Well, it's fully working for me without any bug. I tried every single mode and all of them are saving files. If you can't see them with your gallery maybe you need to reboot your device or try to do a clean install of CM.

I have make a clean install. Make a picture with HDR A and you will see the the cam make not a picture.
OK, I found 2 bugs:
- If you take a picture and you move your hand before it process the capture, it will not save the file sometimes.
- Raw files are not saving.
RAW == Saving ?
with AutoHDR = No
without HDR = No
without HDR/ HQ = No
with HDR = Yes
with HQ = Yes
with flash = Yes
with Manual = No

C'mon really? The thread has 2 pages, it was already discussed and is written (and marked) in the OP. "For now this port is tested and probably will only work with the official CM13 rom" His work is based on Cm13, the official version. Every rom which is doing things differently is likely not working.

cam2_magisk: Camera api2 fix miui version (I'm not sure, you can know after installation, but it doesn't work ,just use the 1st version)
gcam_hdr_xml: The xml file for GCam to have slow motion, from the latest 4pda. I think the author is going to update the new xml because the latest GCamera is for pixel 2 and the video recording is unstable. (I don't understand Russian, used google translation)
Then you can just install Google camera as a normal app
All the credits belong to to devs that provide the api 2 fix and xml file. It's trivial to make them magisk.

(I found it also on 4pda but increased the JPEG Quality to 100%)

I've changed the xml mod also to 100%, I noticed that you didn't change line 43, I wonder if I need to change that line to have 95 or 100 jpg quality actually work?
Update: After increasing to 100%, there are however:
1. No increased size of hdr+ jpg (still 1-3 mb) size
2. Significantly increased size of hdr off jpg.
We mainly use the hdr+ from GCam, so I think the original xml file is just fine. If anyone's interested, you can download the history version of the magisk mod

Front cam only crashes when you set display flash to on or off, when you set it to automatic it doesn't crash.

If it doesn't work, Install manually the apk from the zip.

background blur perfectly working for me
Install whit twrp? no root?
Tested Muiu 9.5 in Mido, Android 7.0. Portrait mode not function in front camera.

Portrait mode not working on rear camera
There is no portrait mode icon available while using rear camera. It only shows up when front camera is used.Please help.

based on gcam 5.1.018.1776
Tested on PX 9.0 and AOSP 9.0, should work on any 9.0 custom rom and miui 10

Before you install
If you don't have CAM2API, head over to this topic and download magsik module for CAM2API. Do not download version Slomo fix.
If you have any other camera patches, uninstall them.
V3 patch for V3 cam, V4 patch for V4 cam.
V4 has a version that is compatible with miui.

- when using video stabilization 60fps recording is bugged; 60fps without video stabilization is working fine
- looks like using dual cam module is bugged to some people, so I deleted it in new release

Yes, front portrait mode works like a charm, saves two photos - one with blurred background, one without. Using Google Photos you can choose one of them and send it to someone etc.
As for MIUI, I really don't know. I think it should work, just keep in mind that gcam need cam2api. Download and try. This magsik patch also upgrades default MIUI camera - better bitrate, 4k video, etc.

Requirements:
9.0 custom rom <--
you can try turning on Using classic smartburst. Just a reminder - flashing this patch also applies to stock Xiaomi cam by adding 4K video recording, better bitrate, etc.
There is no way this camera will work without magsik patch, so you can try flashing it if you didn't try that already.

Yes, I know about that, it was very unstable option, and as the description of the app states, this is a stable port, so I deleted this setting in the newest update.

Edit: just noticed downloaded zip says v4 but in magisk manager it says v5
I already have installed the GCam_5.1.018_by_SerJo87_1.6RC3_test1_pre-Release_ewg.apk and the AhmedTohamy magisk patch so I guess is the same you are posting here, right?

For me it is the best working gcam as far. The only thing that's not working is slow motion video. I'm on HavocOS Mod 2.1.

Follow the instructions and everything should work. V4 has some broken things so V3 worked best for me. Front cam, back cam, everything I need works, HDR+ is amazing, though it takes some time.
So to recap, V3 patch + V3 apk, V4 patch + V4 apk and that's it! Just read the readme.

K, this apk does not work on oreo. I'm on miui stock, cannot even install. I get error parsing apk.

No, you have to enable it via build.prop editor.

Actually,the post should've mentioned that this gcam works fine on AI version. Apparently,the gcams from tigr and marlin-ku has front camera working on 6.x gcams.Arnova fixed the front camera bug and they too rectified it.You can easily download the gcams from celsoazvedo.

4K recording isn't working either... but then again this is the least buggy port for our whyred(Indian) I have encountered so far.

When I add those two lines into build.prop and reboot the camera the app com.sdgsystems.camera2probe does not change the information about camera capabilities, it still shows
