At 6:09am [EST] this morning (5/16), I received a call from a colleague of mine who indicated that my phone had called him 4 times at different intervals (12:26am,2:09am, 5:28am, 5:29am). When I saw his incoming call, I was like why's he calling me this early in the morning? I told him that I didn't call him and that I was still sleeping. Has anyone experienced this with their windows phone?
I did looked on my phone after getting off the phone with Marcelo at 6:09am and I noticed that my phone also called someone else [Jillian K] at 1:04am.
The last time I called [Jillian K.] was 5/15 - 3:06pm and after that, I made 3 more calls to 2 other people yesterday. However, I have not called Marcelo at all in some time.Other than Marcelo being among the 10 recipients that I texted regarding a game schedule early yesterday [5/15] around 11am.
Has anyone experience this? Thanks for your input.
I have attached a picture of the outgoing calls (w/the 1 incoming call from Marcelo)
Maybe you are sleepwalking
OT: no never had that
Yeah, I only know of drunk people that call at all hours of the night.
However, unrelated, I've had a similar problem, where my HD7 is screen locked in my pocket, I'll receive and miss a call, which unlocks the screen, and then the phone goes crasy bumping against my leg. Last time I had 3 outgoing calls before I heard the phone about to leave a voice mail.
Worst part was I had the phone on the coffee table the whole night.. unless there's a ghost in my apartment. I did noticed few things today -- I had IE tabs on the phone (3-4) that I didn't open. Later this noon, I received an email from Bank of Ameri. that someone tried to access my account online and was unsuccessful. Did logged in to check and to change my pwd.
The last app I bought was gMsg and I used it briefly to message my soccer group about game time. so may be the app is misbehaving?
I'll observe again tonite..
Have you developer unlocked your phone? What OS Version are you running? Have you ever flashed a ROM? Edit: On a related note, are you the first owner?
Figure it out?
which web sites were opened?

weird. Your proximity sensor should have prevented this.
Nothing? I was really curious about this lol.
Do you have any "weird" apps installed that might be causing this ?
Either that or you got a bugged phone dude.

Someone been using your phone: there's no doubt left in my mind.
I posted this thread 5/16 and since then several things have happened. For those asking about version, unlocked n etc. I'll answer all in one swoop.
First my Hd7 is dev unlocked but only apps like walkman7, tvshow7, wifi shorcuts, and etc. Haven't even used those in a while.
software version: nodo (as of today - decided to wait for final Mango)
I've no kids or wifey. Girlfriend was away on company business that week unless she suddenly acquired supernatural powers to control my phone from where she was.
Since i reported this, i've sent my phone in for volume button wiggling issue, so my device has been software reset (factory). Haven't seen it since. Also, at the time when I reported this, at least for 2 months, my phone just randomly reboot itself. I haven't had that happen since getting my phone back from HTC for the volume button fix and re-config of my phone from factory reset.
All I know is a factory reset seem to have fixed it for me. Keep in mind that after the fact. reset, I still went back to dev unlock my phone again and it has been great since. YMMV.
Hi all, my Focus was doing some weird things, including sporadic reception issues, so I went to an ATT warranty center and got it replaced. Unfortunately, this phone has the same issues AND more.
First of all, about half the time, if I go somewhere with NO reception, and then enter an area with reception, it won't find reception without turning the phone off and on, even if I toggle the data network in the settings. This is especially annoying because my office has no reception in the cafeteria/main entrance, yet my cubicle does. My old phone did not do this.
Second, on my first Focus, I picked a SMS sound on day one, after a few months, I changed it to something else. about 15% of the time, it would play the original sound, then immediately play the second one... Well this phone is doing the SAME thing, but I've only used one SMS tone. I find this especially puzzling.
Third, this phone occasionally won't flip from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. It seems like whatever mechanism tells the phone the way it's oriented is broken.
Fourth, yesterday, my phone went from a 100% charge to 0% and a warning that it was critically low. I took the battery out multiple times, and when it was plugged it, it would show that it was charging, but then not gain anywhere on the status meter. After pulling the battery for like the 10th time, it came up as 100%.
Has anyone else experienced any bugs like this?
This will be the 4th time I've gone into the ATT warranty center... I am the type who is always rational and polite, but this is getting annoying. I hope ATT gives me a credit or something. I wish I could get a NEW phone and not a warranty replacement refurb that is clearly not working like it should.
I've never experienced anything like what you're talking about. As far as orientation not switching, it does happen if say I take a picture in landscape mode, then MMS the picture to someone and turn the phone upright as I enter the message.

I get that too, but I'm talking about IE and other instances. Guess I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for weighing in!
never also with my focus....what u do to urs jw lol
I have the same reception problem. Everytime I go into my gym I lose AT&T and have to reboot. It started happening the minute I did the March Update.
For everything it fixed it broke something else for me.
I think your issues are hardware flaws, rather than software bugs...just change to another device.I think they should allow you to do so as long as the value of the plan is equal.

Hi, I don't have a focus but have noticed this on my HTC Mozart so am wondering if it could be a software bug?
My phone seems to either pick a SMS tone at random, play 2, one after the other, or not play one at all depending how its feeling that day and depending if I'm using the phone when a message comes in lol!

I've noticed that with mine (HTC Arrive) it plays the 10th ringtone by default whenever the phone is facing up or flipped over. But when it's flipped over and the first ringtone plays then you flip it over, the screen lights up and then the second ringtone plays (I think its ringtone 5). Weird...
Well, the warranty center swapped out my Focus. I told them it had "a reception issue," but did not explain what it was, and then told about how the phone screen was not rotating depending on how it was oriented. Guy went into the back, presumably to check out the issue, and he came back saying that he confirmed it was not rotating properly, so he gave me a new one. He didn't even care to hear about the other issues. I've been into the warranty store multiple times in the last two weeks, and every time they've said that the Focus is not typically a phone that comes in with issues... so we'll see what happens.
Of note, the guy who gave me a new phone did not set it up properly, so data was not working. I had to call customer service to get my IMEI number updated. I politely explained how much of a hassle this has been and was given a $25 credit on my account.
I'm back at my cubicle at work, so I've gone through the basement with no reception, and it was able to find the network on its own when I got out of the dead zone... hopefully that means this phone is working properly.
However, I am moving to a new house in mid June, and I am 99% sure the house is in a dead spot... urg. If it's as bad as I figure it will be, I guess I'll see if AT&T will give me a free microcell AND free service for it; otherwise, I'll have to switch to Verizon.
Thanks for weighing in everyone. It seems like there is some sort of ringer issue because others are reporting it too.
I have the reception issue too, have to reboot the phone to fix it however, I haven't experienced any of your other issues (samsung focus here)
Maybe they are giving you your old phone (refurbished) and u just keep getting the same phone over and over again. (doubt it, but you never know)
I've been digging as much as I can on this issue, and so far I haven't been able to find any official acknowledgement or diagnosis of this issue. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I simply cannot find the thread.
So far, I have had 2 Nexus 5's. Both of them had the exact same issue. When I am on a call, occasionally the volume from the other side will drop to a level where I cannot hear it. This happens most often when I am listening through the earpiece, thought it has happened while using speakerphone and multiple bluetooth headsets (plus my car). There doesn't seem to be a specific thing that triggers the issue, the area or type of phone I am calling doesn't seem to matter.
The phone is stock, I've never messed with the OS and the only apps I've downloaded were basic free ones, too many to list but if an app could be causing it I can post a list.
So far, I've tried the following to resolve the issue.
1. Factory reset both phones
2. Change sim card
3. Contacted my wireless provider (AT&T)
4. Contacted LG
5. Contacted google
Changing phones didn't help, Factory reset seemed to fix the problem for a bit but it came back. Changing sim did nothing. AT&T told me that because the device was third party, it wouldn't work properly. (I don't believe that for a second) LG just wanted me to ship the phone to them. (Not an option as they will take 2 weeks to get it back to me) And google just gave me some basic troubleshooting tips that I had already tried.
I cannot RMA the phone, i bought it used off of Swappa. I do not want to pay LG for a repair as this is a software issue and it should be solvable on my own. (though I will send the phone to them if it comes to that)
Has anyone had this issue, or at least heard about it? The only possible explanation I've found is that there's a problem with the noise cancellation software, but no one seems to have any solutions other than send it to LG, which really isn't an option for me at this point.
Thanks a crap load in advance to anyone who can shed any light onto this.
Bump for help please.
We are in the same boat

I'm being searching a lot to find a solution to this problem, but no luck.
I am using a Nexus 5 from the past 15 days and have the same problem of low to no volume from the speaker (voice of the other party). I initially though that it happens when I am outdoors, but no, it happens indoors too; and this does not happen always, sometimes it is loud and clear sometimes it is not. So I suspect that this has got something to do with the software rather than the software.
Even I don't have an option to send it back to LG cause I bought this in a different country.
My phone is Stock OS, updated to 4.4.4, rooted has Xposed Framework on it.
I also modified the build.prop and set the persist.audio.fluence.voicecall from true to false, but even this did not help.
Please, please, please, if anyone has found a solution to his please let us know.
If you press the back of the phone slightly, does it lower the sound? when i do not apply pressure to any back part of the phone, the sound is clear. with even slight pressure the sound dims on the other side. just noticed this today after trying to troubleshoot the problem. really bad design

So far I haven't been able to try that. For some reason the phone has started behaving, though there are a few issues here and there. I'll try this out next time it happens and report back.
Got my note 7 yesterday (love it!) My watch is set to vibrate for everything (no sound) as this is working fine for notifications but when I get a call the phone and the watch ring. I even tried setting the phone to vibrate too and it still rings (same ringtone as the phone). Is anyone else having this issue?
I am having the same issue. Since i never have my phone set to ring (Always rely on my S2 classic for alerts) I just set my Note 7 ringtone to "Silent" no it seems to "Work" ok.
Not the ideal solution, but a "fix" for now...
Thank you.... I'm glad it's not just me. I called Samsung today about it and they were clueless...
I've sent a message to Samsung. Hopefully this gets patched. I'm pretty sure turning off bluetooth audio will stop the issue. Anyone tried it? In bluetooth settings.
Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
I will try that but, then we can't use it to answer calls. It is definitely a bt issue....i tested it by turning off bt and calling the watch's phone number and it vibrated as it's supposed to. Hopefully enough people contact samsung so that they can get working on a fix for this.
Watch ring ? Or vibrates ?

Me too
Yes I'm having the same issue too. It's really annoying. It's just with the Note7 since it didn't happen with my S7E. Sucks since I can't wear it at work now since I have my phone on vibrate I don't need my watch ringing.

As a "quick fix" change the phone ring tone to "silent" that works for me.
Thanks but when I tried that neither the watch or the phone would vibrate so I wouldn't know if I was getting a call or notification.
I called samsung about this, has anyone else? I think the the more people that report it the better chance we have of getting a fix for it quicker.
I was able to get it to work but both the ringer AND media in the phone need to be on vibrate. Basically what I did was open the sound setting on my phone and was messing with the settings while calling my phone from another phone until I found the right mixture. This is what worked for me. Now my phone and watch vibrate. I would suggest doing what I did until you find the right mixture.
If I take it off vibrate on my phone they both ring. Hope this helps.
I've got a ticket opened with Samsung. My first inquiry got redirected. Hope this one sticks.

Happening with me as well, did an online chat with samsung support to report it and gave them a link to this topic.
Has anyone heard anymore about this? I've periodically checked for an update/fix but haven't seen anything.
Same issue
I've had this problem too. been having the issue Since day one with the note 7. I've called Samsung at least 3 times about it. They were clueless. The first 2 times they kept telling be to call my carrier. I know it's not a carrier issue. For god sakes you're the maker of the watch! Brought it to the Samsung kiosk... Also clueles only answers i can seem to get are factory reset it, which didn't work. Come on Samsung! I'm going to try some of the options you guys gave.
Was having the same issue after I got my new phone setup with my gear... tried mutiple things, ended up doing a factory reset on my watch, reconnected to my n7 and my previous settings were restored to my watch via gear manager...and I was back in business.. no more ringing from the watch...
I've reset watch 3 times.....but I'll try 1 more
bump
Mine is doing it also. I have factory reset wach times
4th factory reset didn't fix it
So, anyone else suffering from the weird sound bug? In essence, there is no notification sounds, ringing or alarms coming through, phone is not on silent and no active DnD mode. And normal media playback is as expected, speakers work fine as well, it's just alarms, ringing and notifications. It gets weirder tho, because if headphones are plugged in sounds can be heard but not when unplugged. Android 10, latest patch too and I'm really confused at this point so any ideas are appreciated. Hi I have the exact same problem, it occurred after installing the December patch, I tried to do more reset but the problem persists, I contacted google assistance and they told me they will let me know, were you able to solve this problem?
The only option is to wait for another update to correct the problem? Or possibly downgrade to android 9? With android 10 all the problems started including the whistle in the video recording
I opened a problem report on the google issue tracker. Sorry For my bad english.

Mine started doing this today. The funny thing is I used a bluetooth for my ear at work and switched to BT in the car when I left work. No ringing comes from the phone, but through BT I now hear the individual ringtones that I have set over car speakers BT and ear BT. It never did that before. Makes me think that using BT somehow caused it. Very odd. I went to Sprint store and let them poke around with it. Two employees had no luck. They stated that they had never seen this problem.
------------------------------
UPDATE. I was directed by Google to either mail it back (7-10 day turnaround-sure!) or take it to UBREAKIFIX like they did to "soopervoo." It was repaired yesterday in about 3 hours! They even offered a loaner phone for the time, but I declined. All is good in my Pixel 3a world again. Oddly, the phone continues to try to update playMusic every so often to the Nov update which is already on my phone.

Hello and happy new year! Unfortunately I have not found any solution, I wait for the next update, if it does not solve the problem I will ask for the replacement of the mobile phone. My suspicion is that the December update breaks the lower speaker.
I have similar issue like this for past 3 months, what ever ringtone I set, by default Google duo notification is ringing. But i can hear custom ringtone on whatsapp call.
I have a similar problem with a different phone brand. I tracked the issue to be related to enabling the automatic DND option which tents to not properly go away after it turns off. Sad that is the same on the pixel which I'm looking at buying...
This bug just started for my mom's Verizon Pixel 3a this week. It was working in early Dec 2019, but something recently broke. The call ringer sounds do not work, but YouTube audio does.
I did a full system reset where it temporarily fixed the sound, however, during the app updates, it reverted back to no sound.
Chatting with Google support wasn't useful. They just sent the standard bug report email.
If anyone has any suggestions, please advise.
Update
Called Google support and they redirected me to UBreakiFix to inspect and repair.
Took a few hours, but they replaced the speakers.
Looks like I had a bad unit but seems to be fixed now.

FYI, mine was a hardware (speaker) problem.
this 3a I have can play YouTube audio on the earspeaker, so I think that's normal, the ringer uses the bottom speaker right? next to the charging USB3 port, if I do a complete factory reset, that will not fix it?

Two factory resets did not work for mine. Mine was acting the same, bottom speaker was crackly, intermittent, and then went out completely.

I am here to pig pile onto the issue. Running the January patch and never getting OTA notifications (running Magisk), I finally sideloaded Feb and then March updates last week. Just a few days later, I was talking on speakerphone and it got all crackly for a few seconds and then quit. That's the last I heard of it. Safe mode, two resets and even a full factory flash didn't fix it.
Just went through diagnostics with Google support and the verdict is the same...take it to ubreakifix under warranty. At least the phone is still useable, unlike the first gen Pixel microphone.
Here is one more confirmation that there is definitely a problem with the Pixel 3a's bottom speaker. Mine cut in and out a couple of times and then died completely. My phone was four months old at the time, purchased directly from Google, and has always lived in an Otterbox Defender case and had never been dropped.
I contacted Google and they said I could send it in for replacement. And I said, "Hey - wait a minute! I bought my phone from Google so I'm supposed to get an advanced replacement!" So he wanted my IMEI and confirmed that, yes, I had that option. But I was concerned that both the agent and website confirmed that I would receive either a new or (most likely) refurbished device.
The Google warranty website said that I had the option of having the phone replaced by Google or going to a local ubreakifix shop, of which there are several in my area. I called them up and the guy I spoke to said it was a common problem on the Pixel 3a! And they had the part in stock.
Since my phone was in perfect condition, other than the speaker, I chose the ubreakifix option instead of having Google send me a, probably used, replacement. I dropped it off, went to get something to eat, and while I was eating, I was messaged that my phone was ready for pickup. I took a look at the paperwork for the repair and the repair cost to Google listed was about $80. I asked the gentleman how much the exact same repair would cost for a Pixel 3a that was not under warranty and he said $140! Damn! I priced the speaker part if bought directly from China on Aliexpress and it was less than $10 from most vendors.
A search of the Google support forums shows that many Pixel 3a owners have had their speakers fail. It's a problem that can't be missed because your phone never rings!
If it fails again under warranty, I will have the speaker replaced. If it fails again after the warranty period, I will order a replacement speaker from China and do my own replacement.
