Hi,
I have a problem with OTA firmware updates for a while.
I'm running MHA-L29C636B158 firmware, and when I try to search for updates or latest full package, device says "no updates"
It wasn't bothering me that much, but I wan't to update to OREO now, and I don't know how to do it.
PS: having the same issues with HiSuite 5.0.2.301
Thanks for helping me
Use firmware finder

Use firmware finder, search for MHA-L29 (nothing is going to show up if you search for MHA-L29C636 (all the Oreo is named MHA-L29 8.0.0.??? (C???)). Yours would be MHA-L29 8.0.0.360A (C636). Click on the full OTA PV-MF and click on in-app proxy. Then go to your mobile data APN setting and enter the proxy settings, save them and then go into settings, system update and the firmware should show up and start downloading. Once it starts downloading pause it, go back into your APN settings and change it back. Then switch on your Wi-Fi, go back to settings system update and resume your download. It will download your update then and verify it, if it verify properly your phone will restart and install the update and your be on Oreo. It should be authorized as they have started rolling out Oreo to the C636

Sometimes things just don't work the way they should, your phone should pick up any updates but if it doesn't lucky for us that we have firmware finder, if you are expecting an update and your phones not picking it up just check on FF to see, when you check always just do a search for the MHA-L29, if you see a firmware there you can check if it's authorized of not right there.

It won't if your IMEI is not approved. And if you use your phone out of region (eg. use it in EU but bought in USA), then you need sim for that region. I, for example, would need a German sim to update it normally. I bought it from Germany but use it in Sweden, never got any ota.
Luckily we have HWOTA so I can update anyway.

If you open Firmware finder then select the latest rom for your model, you can check if its approved through IMEI.
Tap on firmware, then on Check firmware access then with IMEI.
What model are you on now? Cxxx

I know how to check is it approved, but it is not.
My model is eu verzion c432.
I sad that is bull****, that update via FF.
I got same update via Hicare app but i can't download it.
Why i need FF? When update is approved i will get it from Huawei. That why i think it's worthless

Worked perfectly! Trick is in figuring out which APN settings to change. Firmware Finder says to set the server to localhost, WRONG! Set the Proxy to localhost. Now it works as described above.

Lol, technically they would also be right as it's the proxy server, they just say proxy in the APN settings.

Attention that MHA-L29 8.0.0630(C636) is for Internal engineering build purposes.. Lots of Performance issues.
B632
I'm also on B158 on a Uk based L29-C636. Been looking at FF options and wondered if the 632 update is the one to go for? I've also noticed that FF offer 'auto DNA' option and wondered if this is easier or more suitable than proxy?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

[ODIN] Stock Nougat Firmware [SM-G935T] S7 Edge
Instuctions provided by jrkruse (original post)
1. You need to be on Verizon Beta Nougat 2
2. In developer options turn on OEM unlock
3. Reboot to download mode
4. Load the files you downloaded in the corresponding slots in odin BL,AP CP, CSC the files are labeled this way
you dont use the G935TUVU4BQB1_Boot_Recovery_Image.tar.md5 until later
5. Install with odin the phone will reboot to recovery to finish the csc install
6. If the csc install in recovery fails reboot to bootloader in stock recovery
7. In odin reflash the CSC file in the CSC slot in odin. The phone will reboot to recovery again and install the csc files
8. Once the phone is done installing and wiping in recovery try and catch the phone as it reboots and reboot back to
download mode (PWR+Home+Vol Down )
9. Use odin Install G935TUVU4BQB1_Boot_Recovery_Image.tar.md5 in the AP slot
10. Let phone reboot and go through setup
11. During Setup you may have trouble typing info in the setup boxes the keyboard has some bugs in setup. I recommend skipping
adding any accounts and do it after your through setup. Or use the alternative method to find your google account
12. Once through setup download 4G LTE Switch and use to Change Network to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)
13. I recommend downloading Package Disabler Pro (It Works now) and disable all Tmobile Apps
I found samsung pay wasnt working I found that the tmb bootloaders and persist.img needed to also be flashed I made a new odin flashable package and install instructions. All seems to work now except of course volte and wifi calling.
Explanation why you need to be on nougat beta 2
Download:
TMOBILE_NOUGAT_VZW.ZIP
ODIN v3.12.3.zip
Possible Issues and solutions :
Q: after flashing the bootloaders and persist.img, it broke all data and calls and texts again.
A: they need to be all flashed at same time. Maybe Wipe data and it might work
Q: The Google "email or phone" text input box still only accepts one letter and any extra letters overwrite the previous letter typed.
A: The samsung keyboard will work fine if you just goto settings on the keyboard to language and types and change to US english.
Q: So the question is..... this worth flashing or wait for vzw?
A: Other than no volte this definitely the best running Rom so far. It is much better than beta
Q: 13. I recommend downloading Package Disabler Pro (It Works now) and disable all Tmobile Apps
Care to share your list?
A: List of Tmo apps to disable
Q: Except MMS isn't working, for me anyways. VoLTE isn`t working.
A: I got volte working and video calling maybe this will help mms for you
Download App shortcut maker from playstore
Select all activities find IMS Settings and create shortcut
Open the ims settings from the created shortcut
Choose Ims service switch
Click on MMTEL switch
Click on RCS switch
Under MMTEL section I enabled all the options
Q: Cant get this thing to flash CSC...just keep getting the dm-verity error 0x02.
A: 1:Flash all 4 files in zip.
2:let reboot and see if you get dm verity error.
3:if you get the error than reboot to bootloader and reflash all 4 again.
4:after it reboots again it will say error.
5:reboot to bootloader and flash the csc again.
Q: in 4g lte switch, i dont see the option for lte/cdma auto. could this stuff be because csc didnt flash correctly?
A: if you have the verizon data icons you know the 4g lte then it flashed correctly. If you see data icons that ate not verizon then it didnt flash correctly.
When every one is starting over are you flashing a pit file when going pack to ph1. If not you need too.
P.S. All credits goes to jrkruze. :good:

Look at you apn settings and just copy it. I didn't mention about to install nougat beta, I mentioned that it was installed successfully on nougat beta and that you must be on latest bootloader.

The T-Mo one you posted. Odin with ap,bl,cp and csc selected.
After toying with tons of things on the Tmo firmware, I tried booting into Odin, and flashing the Verizon pi3 CSC. That gave me a bootloop. I then tried reflashing the entire Tmo Nougat with Odin, but replacing the CSC again with Verizons, same bootloop. So now my phone is being flashed back to the trusty U MM.
I can only assume now that running the Tmo firmware on VZW will require root to make CSC edits. But Verizon will release our own Nougat before we get root.
Now I guess it's just a race between Verizon releasing 7.0, and the G935U getting it.
$50 on Verizon.
Edit: After flashing the G935U firmware again, after the first boot I was greeted with a message saying "your device must update to use new features from your SIM card." And I booted to a weird all blue screen with a big SIM card on it. I've never seen anything like that. I'm not sure if the Tmo firmware messed with stuff, so I'm going to fully flash the G935V firmware, THEN reflash the G935U firmware, just in case the G935T firmware messed something up.
they also did something to disable all package disabler apps even if you go back to MM they dont work. They screwed us goood on this
so @spiderkr were you able to get it working or just going off of other reports?

Can I ask any SIM FREE Nokia 3 users in UK if they have received the Android 8.0 update as of May 19th?
I suspect my network could be to blame for the delay, as I'm using PLUSNET (which piggybacks the EE network)
The device is currently on android 7.1.1 and was purchased from the carphone warehouse in Norwich brand new and SIM free some six weeks ago.
I'm also experiencing a strange occurrence after a factory reset.
The EE app keeps getting automatically installed after a factory reset, which is strange because I'm not an EE customer!
Can anyone confirm their update in UK or explain why the EE app is getting installed to a sim free device after initial set up?

It's not just you I am on Three UK as is my friend both devices are sim free and his has never been rooted or bootloader unlocked. The Carrier app's get installed due to some .xml settings in the CDA Partition which check the network id number and then install the appropriate app if one exists.
Not sure why the UK is one of the last to get the official Oreo update but hopefully it will very arrive soon. :fingers-crossed:

Well, I've got the update but the process is a little long winded and had a hiccup along the way.
So, you need to remove the SIM card.
factory reset.
Sign into WiFi and Google account.
Select to restore your back up (this can be skipped if desired)
Once the back up is restored, connect to a Finland VPN
(I used express VPN from playstore)
Check for system updates, it will give you the android 8.0 notification.
Select to download
(I had to download it twice as the first time I encountered a verification error)
Allow to install.
After reboot replace sim card.
The process takes roughly 45 minutes to complete.
Edit
I've just read on Reddit there is an issue with all Nokia devices receiving any system updates in UK that Nokia / HMD will not confirm.
It's not good we have to factory reset and select other nations VPN to get system updates.

Cheers for the info. :good:
Is the TA-1020 available in India
If it's not then that would explain why the Indian VPN did not work.
I will wait and see if they sort it out as I am on the Oreo Beta anyway and now they have released the Kernel source my aim would be to try build LineageOS or some other OS.
If anyone with the TA-1020 who has installed the official Oreo could pull the system, boot and recovery with SPFlashTool for me that would be great as I would like to use the none beta Oreo for building the device and vendor trees. :fingers-crossed:
PS:
BTW What is the Kernel version on the Official Oreo as they have released the 3.18 version and I was kinda expecting the 4.4 version.

I've haven't yet had under full strength signal on 3G or 4G, but I've only had the 8.0 for update 24 hours so I'll keep my eye on it.

Did you try the VPN trick without the factory reset?
I don't understand why HMD aren't providing the files to flash manually as that would help get the update out to the UK faster.

OK, so maybe it's a bug that clears up after the factory reset. I know that on reddit some people are saying that just removing the SIM and clearing the Google Services Framework works as well so I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Yes I read the Reddit posts regarding clearing Google play services data and that was the first step I tried (as well as removing the sim)
That didn't work so I then spent last weekend using the factory reset / VPN method, but I found the India VPN method didn't work either.
I did not have any success with getting the 8.0 update notification until I factory reset and tried the Finland VPN, which worked fine.
I would be careful using the VPN method as one person on the Nokia Support forums has had issues with mobile data:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000025647
It could also be related to the fact that there are two different versions of the Nokia 3, the TA-1032 and the TA-1020. The TA-1032 seems to be receiving the Oreo update but the TA-1020 seems to have been forgotten.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-play/how-to/guide-to-update-emui-8-x-oreo-to-emui-9-t3884881
For this you need to install Firmware Finder app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...firmwarefinder ) on your device , original thread for the app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/too...m-mt-t3469146/ )
Note 1:
This method requires latest EMUI 8.X available for your device. If you are not on the latest update repeat the below steps to install latest EMUI 8.x for your device.
Note 2: This process is safe to proceed if you have selected correct firmware for your device , If you try to flash wrong firmware and bricked your device I wont be responsible for it.
Steps to Update :
1. Install Firmware Finder App ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...firmwarefinder)
2. Select your Device in the App
3. Check the list of available firmwares
4. If you are not on the latest EMUI 8.x firmware then you need to install it
5. Select the next update iteration for your device
6. Check whether the update is approved your IMEI or not if check step 11 below
7. If the update is approved Get an update through eRecovery (Note that for this method you have to change DNS in your Router)

I´m on CLT-L09 8.1.0.131 (C521) and I´m always getting the ¨Not aproved¨ message. What can I do?
Tried to do this but unfortunately i don't have access to my router's DNS. Tried to do it with a wifi hotspot through my laptop and for some reason it kept registering the DNS ip address as the ipv4 address that the router was giving to my laptop. Tried to change it manually but no luck at all, the phone still sees as dns gateway the ip address from my laptop given by the router. Any suggestions ?
I tried this method.
Got to the package to download and verified.. but when it goes to install, it just does nothing. after waiting almost 5mins I gave up.

I changed mine to China and got the update. Thanks! Clt-al01
Where are you changing your region from? I'm located in the USA and trying to get the 9.0 update, but haven't been able to as of yet.
Hi all,
I purchased a P20 chinese variant (EML-AL00) and am living in Canada.
Somehow I have not received the global update to 9.0, even though it was supposed to be rolled out internationally two weeks ago. I am still on 8.1.0.175. Anyone run into the same issue, or know of a way to get this OTA update? (Note: I don't have the bootloader unlock code so I can't manually flash.)
Thanks.
You may need a chinese sim card to get normal OTA...
You should update via eRecovery with the Firmware Finder's DNS and an approved and registered build.

I have an unlocked U1 that I flashed with ATT for the CSC. I idly went looking for the software update option today, and couldn't find it. Under Settings there's no software update or system update, and when I search on it from settings I can't find it. Did I break something when I flashed? It seems to work great otherwise.

Yes, if you flash different CSC you will lose Software Update option.. you have to continue using Odin to update...
Got it, thanks!
