Samsung pay in UK - Samsung Gear S3

I have a problem with Samsung Pay on my Gear S3 Frontier.
I have successfully added and activated Card. NFC is also enabled. When I open Samsung pay and click Pay button it show me message. to put gear near to the reader. When I do it nothing happen. No messages or any response.
I tried 2 terminals in Asda and Sainsburys .
What I'm doing wrong?
For how long time do I need keep watch near to terminal?

I am also in the UK and have issues with Asda, it just doesn't work with the Gear S3. Works OK in McDonalds, Greggs and lots of other retailers, just not in Asda. I haven't tried Sainsburys so can't comment on that one.

adamszmu I also have OCCASIONAL problems with the reader not registering pay on my watch.
I have a UK bought Gear S3 Frontier and use a Nationwide credit card
When it doesn't register a successful payment I quickly back out of the payment countdown page (using the top right back button) on my Gear S3 and launch pay again. I'm pretty certain it's worked 100% of the time 2nd time round by doing that.
Strangely watch based payment at our local ASDA Living hasn't been a problem for me, maybe their food stores are on different tills?

I did have a weird moment in Aldi a few days ago when I tried to pay £16.00. It read my watch, then said "processing payment" for about 1 minute (it felt like hours as other customers stared me down for keeping them waiting)
It suddenly spewed out a receipt with a 10cm long blank section and came up with "error" on the screen, before changing back to insert/swipe card.
The queue had lengthened by then and the death glares were awful, so I ignored every urge to try my watch again and got my card out.
I used the same card as the watch has registered on it and it processed fine, and very quickly.
Isn't technology quirky!

[Q] Possible hardware fault

Hi all.
Received a supposedly new Galaxy S6 today and the seal was broken.
All seemed OK with phone so accepted it.
Put in a 3 sim card as phone is unlocked. Problem is it just says "Not connected to network" when trying to make a call. Though it has received 2 text messages and I managed to send one after the phone tried to send it for 30 minutes. Phone also isn't showing any data connection. It's been tried with the sim out my old phone and also with a new sim from 3 store today. Sim had been in phone for approx 8 hrs before I run out of ideas.
So the phone definitely works. Just can't seem to figure out why its not working properly . I'm thinking it likely hardware fault though would like anyones opinions or suggestions.
Cheers for reading the post
Mark
The new SIM card probably is not yet activated. Bring your S6 back to your telecom provider so they can test there with a working SIM. If it does not work then it maybe a hardware problem. Have them replaced your S6 if it is.
Sim was activated. 3 store tried it in another phone and it worked ok.
To make matters worse. I put nano sim converter inside Galaxy S3 to test my old phone. Couldn't get it out and bent pins inside phone DOH!
After leaving the store and arriving home my phone was showing full signal and the '3' symbol. Unfortunately would still not send a text or make a call.
My conclusion is that the phone isn't quite reading the Sim properly.
My decision now is to either wait till the seller replies(Who I don't trust) to numerous messages I have left or just send it off to Samsung for repair.
Cheers for replying
Mark
Send to Samsung for repair.
I've sent the phone back to seller.
I'm beginning to doubt myself though after this nightmare. This is going to be a long story....
When the S6 arrived I had to cut my micro sim down out of my S3 to nano size. I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this and did a good job. Though as the S6 didn't hold a signal I went into 3 store for brand new nano sim. Put it into the S6 instore and it was the same. Though they said wait up to four hours for it to register properly. Went home and after 6 hours still no luck. So I decided to try it in my S3.
This is when the nightmare began.
As I needed it micro size I cut out a template to put nano sim in. When trying to insert it in I wasn't happy. So I tried to take it out and the tip caught hold of the sim reader pins and came away. So I had a bit of plastic stuck in sim reader. Boy could I not get it out. So had no option but to buy a new sim/Mem card reader. Local shop wanted a tenner for one. Had no option so bought it along with a proper nano to micro sim housing and went along home.. Fitted it and then went along to the 3 store armed with both S3 and S6 to make sure I could either get the S6 working and if not get the sim put in the S3.
This is where my next dumb moments was. So I didn't lose the nano to Micro template I partially slotted it into the S3 sim reader.
Got to 3 store, explained S6 wasn't working with new nano sim and asked if they could check the sim was ok. They tried it in a HTC and it worked fine.
So this to me proved the S6 was faulty.
So I asked if they would put it into my S3 to show it worked ok in that.
So they went to put the Sim in my S3 and couldn't get the template out as i'm not sure if they pushed the sim converter all the way in!! As no sim was in the template the pins had hooked onto it. So ended up damaging the sim reader again. Jesus!!
So no working phone again. Just an apparent working nano sim.
Got home ordered ANOTHER sim/mem reader.
To get me connected I ended up taping the nano sim in place on the S3 and part of an old credit card on top so the rear cover put pressure on the sim as well. This was after cutting away the top part of the original sim reader to get the plastic out and to expose the pins. LO and behold it worked!!! Full signal just like I normally get and H+ data
So I've had a phone for last 24hrs working and got home tonight to find the new sim/card reader had arrived. Thought wow that was quick delivery. Took sim out and thought i'd give S6 one last try as I install the new sim reader. . Still no luck getting stable signal so boxed up S6 to return. Put sim into S3 with proper template AND you'll never guess what........ITS DOING EXCACTLY THE SAME THE S6 WAS!!!!
S3 now keeps dropping signal and going into emergency only calls. I'm thinking why didn't I just not touch it.
So is it possible that the 3 network throws a Dummy every time you swap sim into different phones??? Its just strange the S3 is doing excactly what the S6 was. Or could the S6 be upsetting the sim?
God i'm really baffled as there always seems to be more than one factor into the equation of whats wrong.
Now I'm just waiting to get hold of another sim to try or just hope after leaving my S3 on overnight it might settle down.
God phones....I hate em LOL
Just to clear up the Sim issue with the S3. Even though it was connected on the '3' network and not receiving calls. I happened to check the manual network provider list again and it was showing the '3' network twice in the list. Clicked on the one it wasn't auto selecting and S3 is working fine again. Tried the Sim in the S6 again hoping that may have been the problem also. Again the S6 manual network provider was showing the '3' network twice in the list....But unfortunately still didn't connect to network properly.
So S6 definitely going back Monday.
Anyone know if having your network provider listed twice in the network settings is normal? Or is it possible that '3' have not programmed the sim properly?
Cheers
Mark

T-Mobile Gear S2 4G Share your experience.....

Hi Guys...
Just got my Gear S2 4G. from one of the nearby T-mobile Store.
I am just loving it.
best thing we can receive calls..
also we can see whats app notification and reply them.....
loving my Gear S2....

How are liking the extra bulk in th rear of the watch?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Free mobile app
I just received mine last night but sadly I have to return it today. Mine won't connect to tmobile network I went through troubleshooting with both tmobile and Samsung but still no result. I get full bars but says no service and can only make emergency calls when not connected via Bluetooth. I love the watch and otherwise it works great when connected to Bluetooth.
I am currently trying to find a store with another one in Stock to swap mine out because I got the last one at my tmobile and no other local stores have them.
As for the bulk on the back of the watch I just came from a moto 360 so I was surprised at the bulk when I first put it on but have since got used to it. I'll deal with it a little bulkier for a speaker to make calls and play music and also for 4g connectivity.
Anyone else having activation issues? Seems with a quick Google search I'm not the only one with the issue

Mine shipped today! I currently have a Gear 2 so hoping there won't be much of a learning curve

Just picked one up at my local store. As stated above they are having trouble connecting the S2 4G to the network. It works great on BT using the mobile phone to place and take calls. Did a couple calls in my car with it and the speaker was loud enough to hear over road noise.
The T-Mobile Manager got on the line with support and a service ticket is opened up on my watch as well as many more over the stand alone network problem.
On Android central forums a tmo employee said it would be couple days until they get the fix
Got my S2 in the mail today. Won't connect to Tmobile network either

When they opened up my support ticket at the T-Mobile store they told me it might take up to 72 hours (3 days) before it was resolved.
Yea hopefully sooner I'm gear s less ( in repair) and the gear s2 isn't working on 3g so Im without a stand alone watch atm
I could call 611 until they associated the eSIM with my line, and now it's emergency calls only. Talked to T-Mobile and they say they're going to manually provision it and it'll take between 2 and 48 hours. We'll see.
Maybe a better question is is there anyone with an S2 active on T-Mobile right now.

So the answer is "No"
The launch is a disaster....... the problem is not the network failure but its the loss of all the technical department to even understand it. You can't fix something without knowing whats wrong with it

You might be the only Gear S2 user with a network connection
Have you tried making a phone call (without bluetooth)
I am connected to the network now and can only use data, no calls though
Let's trade!
So I have a silver S2 sport comes with a spare white band, so I'd like to trade straight up my spare white band with someone who has a spare black band. Any takers?
I'm online now with T-Mobile. Everything is fully functional.

Bear in mind, the spare band is smaller (the Gear S2 band is marked "S" or "L" at the clip ends). Unless you have a small frame, you probably want to swap with someone not using the main band because they need a smaller band (like me).
If you'd like to swap your "S" band for a black "L" band, feel free to PM me.

If I turn off bluetooth, I have to set mobile networks to "always on" (from the default "auto on/off") to make calls and connect to data in stand-alone mode.
I figured this out based on an androidcentral forum post:
What finally worked for me was settings>Connections>mobile networks and I changed it from "auto on/off" to "always on" and it worked almost instantly.
mine came yesterday, and they sent me the wrong color!
Hopefully, it wont be a nightmare getting the replacement watch activated when it comes today
Its not encouraging to see these network issues right out of the box, but setting the watch to "always on" seems like a decent option until they get a fix out..
Did any of you change your watch phone number to something else instead the one they gave you, or do they give you one similar to your cell phone number right out of the box?
If you change it to "always on", does it only ring when someone calls the watch phone number, or will it work when your cell phone is called as well?

i am in
My T-Mobile S2 is now up and operating on the network. They opened my support ticket yesterday afternoon, and this morning it was working. I can do everything (Call/answer/text/use web apps) when I am in stand alone mode (Phone off). Under connections I have my network set to auto on/off. Call forwarding works great.
I had an original Gear S, so they gave me the same number I was using on that. The store reps were great, but initially both they and myself were looking to where I would insert the nano-sim from my old gear. Finally figured out that it was e-Sim only.
Initial battery results are OK, From a full charge at 6:55am until now (1:50pm) I have used 34% battery (remaining 66%). That works out to just under 5% drain per hour. I have NFC, Wifi, and tilt to wake are off, network set to auto (I have walk away from my phone a couple times and the watch has gone into stand alone mode), I am also running screen always on with a Clocki face that has large hands, number, and day/date showing in ambient mode. I get about a 3% per hour drain on my Moto 360 2015 using always on with a detailed ambient face.
So, the S2 battery seems good for first day use, should only get better over the next few days with a few more charge cycles (at least that is what I have seen on several other smartwatches I own).

Did you have to call in to get a different watch phone number?
After you initially pair the watch to the phone, is it a good idea to turn off the phone completely and test whether stand alone mode works properly, or should you leave them both on and talking to each other for awhile?
I've had many smart watches, but never one with a stand alone dialing function, so I apoligize for the n00b questions..

SIM not in database

Not really a question, more of a statement....
So, my Pixel arrived today from Verizon.... Cool, lots to play with before I am basically locked up away from home the next two days.
Open the box, nice phone, start it up, did a factory refresh (do this every time now for all new phones), and then inserted the SIM and started it up again...
The Phone Activation for the phone doesn't work. Thought at first, it was due to low signal, it not very strong where I live but never been a problem before... still nothing.
Call the 800 number it shows... talk to the rep and there is something weird, the IMEI and ICCID numbers are not in their database... how that happen?
Rep finally says I can take the phone in to a store and they will fix it (Can't do that today) or they can fill out paperwork to get it corrected. 12-24 hours.
Hmmm.... really no choice as I will have no access at all tomorrow and friday so I have to wait.
Hard to fathom that a phone from Verizon shipped to me from them is not properly setup in their database. Still using my Nexus 5X for phone but have the Pixel all setup ready to go when it activates. Just can't use it as a phone yet.
Finally, it activated. BTW, really like the phone a lot.
Well this turned out to be just a waste of time.
A day or two later the phone would only get 1xRTT and no celluar data. No calls in, no calls out... This was the day before Xmas. So the day after they had one on hold for me since stores were running out of stock. I went into the store they insisted I change the SIM card first and it seemed to work,
But when I got home it started to do the same thing. Other phones didn't have any issues there.
Naturally, the phone on hold was now gone. Told they would ship out a replacement... Nothing... checked almost daily and they said they were waiting for phones.
This morning, I was told it would not ship until the 20th of this month which would be almost a full month since I got the phone.
I canceled the order.

Using Samsung Pay on S3 *without* phone being present

So I understand that you can use Pay on the S3 even when your phone isn't with you. In this case, you will have to enter a PIN number to use pay. I am in the UK.
My question is:: Is there a limit to the number of transactions that you can perform away from the phone before it stops working - in a similar fashion to the limitation to number of contactless payments you can make using the debit/credit card before you are forced to use chip and pin?
I have not seen any limitation so far with it.
Yes I have read something similar that you are allowed to do 5-6 transactions only, you can get the exact transaction count on spay support page.
I'm sure that if you have the LTE version with an esim card, you don't have any limit since they have there own data and don't have to be connected to a phone all the time. Every purchase I have made with mine has required me to use my pin to make a purchase even with my phone on me. I have the T-Mobile version
Sent from my wickedly kewl Galaxy S8+ using my fingers. Duh!!!
Most cards will allow you to make up to 10 transactions before you will need to connect to the internet and refresh the Samsung Pay information, LTE or not.
I make almost all my purchases (75+ transactions per month) with my watch and I never carry a phone. A phone is not needed. The watch doesn't even need cellular service. The BT only models can do S Pay.
There is a set number of transactions that can be done before the watch must be synced with the phone. I haven't kept track, but I've run up against the limit. When that happens, any further attempts will result in declined transactions for that card. If you have multiple cards, those that haven't reached the limit will continue to work.
During one of the more recent Tizen updates, the watch gained the ability to require PIN entry only prior to the first use of S Pay after the watch has been taken off. So when I strap it on in the morning, I only have to enter the PIN when I make my first purchase of the day.
I am in the US, YMMV in the UK.
Works for me too. Frontier s3 BT only. I love being able to use any card reader and not only the Samsung pay ones only

Question Sprint, t-mobile Watch 4 problems with LTE

Thanks for taking a look. I have an S21, Galaxy Watch 4 (bought directly from Samsung) on A Sprint account with T-Mobile sim in the phone. I went to the sprint/tmo store and they tried everything to get the watch linked. They even rolled me back to a sprint sim and tried. They seemed assured that the watch LTE was working but just would not link. The watch was reset. It still just says searching for the network in the pull down page. Has anyone else seen this issue? I have to determine if I am sending this back or not.
Thanks,
Zar
Had the same issue with my sprint note 20 ultra 5g and my watch 4 classic lte. My note is also running a T-Mobile Sim which I initially thought was the problem. When I received the pre-order watch 4 and tried to activate it nothing would work. Paired and reset the watch and phone. Nothing worked so I called sprint. They said that i would need to return the watch to best buy and get another. I decided to wait a few days and see if the IMEI number would pickup and sure enough it did through the Samsung wearable app without the need for CS. I wonder if T-Mobile just has not received the latest updates from Samsung about recently produced devices and their IMEI numbers (just a guess. Maybe I am wrong). This happened to me before when I has bought the first Sony Ericson phone that came with BT. Give it a few days and try again when on a strong T-Mobile signal.
Unfortunatly, that was not the case. I just heard today that they are having issues activating Apple and Samsung watches. I bought a watch directly from Sprint and they still could not get it working. The store has a ticket open with sprint and another with samsung to see if they can get it wokring but so far, 2 watches are not working.
Just got the call from Sprint/Tmo. They give up, even on the watch that they sold me. They are unable to activate the watch on my account. This was almost 10 hours in the store and another 5 hours working with Samsung to get it tested and then agree to take the one I bought on Samsung.com back without a charge. My options are now to buy one that has no LTE or keep the one from Sprint and hope that they will one day be able to get it working. Anyone got a good Sprint store near them in So Cal that might have better techs?
For any one still searching, Verizon and LTE problems on Wacth 4 are huge. I bought my watch new and as of Nov-Dec 2022 this issue is quite bad. 3 times the watch was sent to Samsung itself for repair. They replace the LTE chip the first time, and the main board the second time (who knows if they really did it ! ). 3rd time they tried to fix, and then I requested a full refund. They me back the original retail price. However, it was 2 months of daily agony talking to Verizon and talking to Samsung, sending the watch multiple times etc.
There is a large thread on Verizon forum on the LTE activation problems. The Samsung Watch 4 Classic is having these LTE problems across the spectrum.....it is a lottery depending what works and what doesn't.
Interestingly, I went back to Watch 3 and it did everything instantly on my phone. Go figure !
