Can some put up a guide to unlock the bootloader, install recovery, and root for the htc u11 life tmobile? I'm a little rusty and if it's available would like a guide to do so.
Much thanks.

There are so many threads pertaining to certain situations and I can't quite decipher what to do with my situation so I'm going to ask.
I'm on shipping stock (1.72) but rooted. I have yet to unlock my boot loader.
I am very interested in upgrading to 1.85, but only want to do so if I can do everything to be able to flash roms through cwm.
I see that you can and you can't root 1.85 so I'm not sure if I should upgrade. I'm ok with waiting for a root method. But if I am able to right now I want to go ahead.
Any help is appreciated.
I am in the same situation as you are. I am on 1.73 rooted and not unlocked yet. From what I understand you can unlocked the bootloader on 1.73 and upgrade to 1.85 and still be able to root. I can not understand properly either and would like some clarification before I move forward. Check this out...

Hello guys I have spent like a day to review all the forums for android phones and couldn't find any solution how to root my old sensation that has MB replaced. I cannot unlock the bootloader. I tried many things. I want to install cynogenmod kitkat 4.4. I'm in the edge to brake this phone. Any of you managed with that issue?
Thanks in advance.

I can't do that. It is impossible. I'm trying it for 3 nights so far, no luck. Guides are incomplete, don't know the right files. Everywhere the bootloader unlock is as prerequisite. How to unlock the f**** HTC. I will never buy again anything with no Google logo on it. Replaced mobo and you are ****ed.

I am new on this phone and I have a doubt, my phone is in marshmallow and the company verizon, as I can do root and unlock the bootloader ? I have understood that I need to pay 25 dollars to make the s -off but I just want to do root and unlock the bootloader. Thank you.
Sorry for my English
The only way to do it with Verizon branded m8 is to use sunshine. And that will get you an unlocked bootloader and s-off. After that you can flash twrp recovery through adb (get yourself familiar with and, it'll help you greatly. You can search around here and find some good reads on it.) After you get tarp flashed then you can flash supersu in twrp, then you'll be rooted.

This comment pretty much guided me through how to root for my m8. Thanks for taking the time to post this, even if it was a few months back. I was about to give up until I saw it, so thanks again!
Dismayed/Encouraged
I'm surprised that there are not any viable options for the Verizon HTC One(M8). I figured since my warranty was up I would try and root to get more freedom from the consuming Verizon bloatware and needless/redundant processes.
I know I did the same thing with my Samsung Galaxy S years ago and it became a very speedy and efficient phone. I really haven't been in the Android scene since so everything I did learn along with the methods and processes have all faded from memory.
Now I'm just reading up on a ton of stuff to get reacquainted. I was wanting to flash TWRP, SuperSU, and the ViperOneM8 6.1.0 rom. My wife and I both have a Verizon HTC One(M8) (running Marshmallow) which are out of warranty and wanted to give them a face-lift and boost in performance.
It is looking like the only feasible option is with Sunshine. . . . . . I hope. (?)
A $50 investment would be cheaper than buying 2 newer phones.
Any ideas, input, or pointers would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
wantin2mod
I feel like an idiot for asking this, possibly because I am one (which can certainly be debated), but here it goes.
As the title states, I pretty much screwed up in not making sure that I had everything in place after removing root and relocking the bootloader. How would I go about re-flashing the stock recovery? I'm running a Pixel 2 and would like to be able to side load updates in the future.
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
Is OEM unlock switched on ? Did you try unlocking your bootloader using fastboot?
If you can't access the recovery because the bootloader keeps crashing, then you just hard bricked your phone and there is no way back
I was able to unlock the bootloader again, so I don't think all hope is lost.

Thank you so much!
I have a Verizon HTC One M8 running Marshmallow (6.0) that I want to root... but I can't find a good free tutorial on how to root it. Does anyone have a free solution to my problem? I am limited on resources. I don't have a computer to use... so I need a way to root without a computer. Thank you in advance.
Ever sort this out?
i have red verizon htc one m8 with 6.0 and i cant seem to unlock the bootloader.
i have been trying to unlock the bootloader so i can root this phone because it is painfully laggy and app startups are awful. i would appreciate any tips or solutions other than rooting, but rooting it is my main focus. i have a pc, and all the required files and stuff i think. i have htc sync man, and all the adb fastboot stuff

You think incorrectly. Please don't post incorrect information.
Weaksauce hasn't worked since around 2014, and it will never work again. You need to s-off the phone with sunshine app ($25) to root the VZN version M8.
