Did this update break texting for anyone else like it did to me? I am not having issues with incoming text messages, either delayed, or not getting to me at all. I'm on the TMO version but imagine it's not much different. Incredibly frustrating. Would love to hear if anyone else if having the same issue.

What if we already have QuickOffice installed?
I'm interested to see what the specific fixes are.

Well, I'm glad to see that AT&T decided to offer updates OTA, at least! I had heard rumors that they weren't going to do this.

no luck downloading
I couldn't download this update, I'll update the thread about the changes if I succeed.
I've already downloaded the JH6 stock firmware one-click installer in case this is buggy.

So, if this update comes by and asks me to update my phone, will it completely screw up my phone if I am not running a bare stock phone.
I mean that I am rooted and running voodoo's lag fix.
Will this update require me to be on unrooted and remove the lagfix?

Oh no you dit'int!
Yup, PC Internet (tether) option is gone in JH7. Is there anyway to get it back?
I have been using my N900 with official 4.4.2 for a couple of months and no more OTA updates found but in sammobile there comes another 4.4.2 release with same CSC code and different build date and changelist. I went on googling and all I can know is Samsung didn't reveal the changelogs. So people can say higher changelist number means fixes or improvement.
But what exactly are they? Im curious to know and installed 4.4.2 with higher changelists and i just want to share what i can find out from newer 4.4.2. All u guys please post if u find any changes. My findings are just only user experience level...
Newer one
Changelist: 1955999
PDA: N900XXUENG3
==============================
Older one
Changelist: 1185114
PDA: N900XXUDND1
==============================
I lists them here.
1. Kid mode installer
2. Knox 2.0
3. In notification panel, the term "Location" is used instead of GPS. (and previously location on/off toggle in the setting is regardless of GPS on/off in notification bar)
4.Camera bug seem to be fixed (of course camera works like a charm without lagging and no more "processing"message after taking a picture) not sure about picture quality bcoz my bare eyes cant see any difference.
5. Battery drain issue seems to be fixed for certain devices
(I cant make it different coz previous one i have no problem with battery and certainly this newer one has no battery problem as well)
6. No wifi issues
7. In Antutu test, score improves from 40320 to 40835 ( could be just variation)
8. Virtual tour mode in camera
9. Batter fully charged icon changed
Still need time to find out more and any one plz post if u find anything out.
So i recommend u to use this build if u are using 4.4.2 with some bugs.

I was asking lol, this feature is on the galaxy s5 and I find it useful to tell me whos calling or texting me.
I know the s4/note 3 have this but only in handsfree mode, where as s5 has it in both normal and handsfree mode.
Samsung doesn't release an official changelist, for any device. There's a list of added features for a change in Android version, but never in-version patches.
You won't find one. The changelist number is an internal registration number for Samsung itself, it's not meant to mean anything for the users. As for indicating how new or old a firmware is, that's what the firmware numbering is for. (The last three symbols of the AP/Phone represent Year, Month and revision number.)

The ROM at the moment is based off 4.5.2, that's probably the reason why your experiencing this. Next update I'll be moving to the FireOS 4.5.5.1.

tl;dr - Dirty flash over HDX Nexus v4.0.5 works (with caveats)
Being the conservative type I held back flashing this release ALAP. Developed a nervous twitch; dog and kids were worried.
My experience:
- starting from a well exercised Nexus v4.0.5 build on an unlocked thor
- above included a handful of Xposed modules and dozens of 'privileged' apps that demand root
- wiped cache/dalvik, dirty flashed 20160225 (nothing else), second cache/dalvik wipe; reboot
- very fast initial start-up (30 sec) followed by several min repopulating caches
- immediately spammed with "process android.process.acore has stopped working" toasts - ugh
- fought way to settings>apps>all and cleared data from Contacts Storage
- messages stopped and everything, including Xposed modules, appears to be working!
- no reauthorizations needed ...
- set animation scales to .75 to match previous responsiveness; may be an artifact of cache rebuild
Still early in testing; will update post as needed. Experience may not apply to Safestrap v4 users (wait for next release)
tl;dr v2: holy-crap-a-saurous!! Never expected it to be this easy. May further delay migration to CM13. Everything just works.

FYI - Google location services not working in 20160225 which is a carry over from v4.0.5. Hoping future release can incorporate fix from Fire Nexus ROM for 5th gen devices.
For the curious neither device has a GPS chip in WiFi only models but can obtain an approximate location (often quite good) via Google's location service. The service does work on 3rd gen HDX devices as evidenced by the various CMxx roms.

so, what are the advantages over Nexus ROM 4.0.5 if I may ask?
Anything worth switching to this one until CM 13 is stable enough for daily use (I planned on switching to CM 13 when CM team starts releasing monthly builds and camera is working)?

Assuming you are running 4.0.5 now the primary differences will be in the underpinnings (shared across several devices), ongoing support (v4.0.5 is frozen) and enhancement/fixes introduced over time.
Fwiw - I continue to use HDX Nexus as my daily driver as it is fast, stable and feature complete. Augmented with Nova, Greenify and a few Xposed modules it looks/feels/performs like Android 5/6. I have several devices running CM11/12/13 and occasionally dabble with other flavors such as SlimLP. Some of those roms do hold an advantage on lower resource devices due to optimizations introduced by Google over time. So far nothing has convinced me to switch away from pure, delicious KK in AOSP clothes on a well provisioned HDX.

Confirming Location Services is now working. Woohoo!!
---------- Post added at 11:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 AM ----------
Not sure where to post this; will happily move if there is a better location. I wrote about the following behavior in a Nov 2015 post (Nexus 4.0.5). It remains an annoyance as a misfire will immediately FC the foreground app along with any work-in-progress. I was hoping this might magically disappear in more recent builds but it's still there. Thanks in advance for any consideration this warrants; understand it might not be fixable.
On two devices the foreground app FCs if a 'misspelled' word is corrected by selecting a replacement from the ASOP pop-up window. This happens with 100% certainty (app independent; keyboard independent) EXCEPT if the highlighted word begins in the first position of the current input field. Obviously frustrating when near the end of a lengthy input/email/post and loose everything. Of course, the problem can be avoided by disabling the AOSP spell checker under input settings but I prefer to keep it on as: 1) it clearly highlights unrecognized words with a red underscore; and 2) the suggestions are often better than those offered by popular keyboard apps. Note you can display the word list w/o triggering a crash. Just can't select a replacement. Did some reading on this awhile back; has something to do with illegally copying data from an overlay into a foreground window (can't immediately find the reference). Normally one would say it's an app/rom problem but it does not happen on a native Nexus 7. Also wasn't a problem with Nexus v2.
Summary: Foreground app FCs when a replacement is selected from the pop-up list of suggested alternatives when a misspelled word is highlighted (AOSP spell checker).

- I'll look into this before the next release
As the Titel says, EMUI 9.1 is coming for MediaPad M5 and for more 49 Devices from Huawei and its sub-brand Honor.
The confirmation is from the Chinese club.huawei (see the attachment below)
Why EMUI 9.1 is a really big deal and better than its previous firmware:
PERFORMANCE
Previously, the F2FS file system was tailored for flash memory to improve the read and write performance after long-term use. Now, with EROFS, the random read speed will be 20% faster and the system space will provide extra personal storage of up to 1000 pictures or 500 songs. Plus, the read-only memory design isolates outside interference for added security in your system files.
GPU TURBO 3.0
GPU Turbo 3.0 is a new upgrade that covers 25 of the most popular games. This new update includes reducing SoC power consumption by 10% and optimizing the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.
HUAWEI VLOG
It has new features and effects that are perfect tools for easy editing and you can share with one-click. The Highlight videos are automatically edited with dramatic filters and give you the option to apply special speed effects and unique background music. Your cherished videos can be transformed into a personal cinematic masterpiece.
ANYTIME ASSISTANT
Whenever you need to use the virtual assistant to carry out tasks, look up facts or need an answer to a simple question, just press and hold the power button and the Google Assistant will launch in a second.
AR MEASURE
When you need a quick measurement tool for simple DIY projects, just open the AR Measure App. You can accurately measure length, total area and volume with the Huawei TOF Camera.
By utilizing the Face Recognition technology, you can now measure the height of a person with just a simple task of scanning from toe-to-head.
ONEHOP
A simple tap from your phone to the computer can send pictures, videos, and documents in seconds. You can also efficiently copy and paste between devices with Huawei Share OneHop.
And, while playing a game, just shake and touch the phone to your computer to initiate a 60-second recording of the screen1 that saves to your phone.
HUAWEI CARKEY, SECURE AND CONVENIENT
EMUI 9.1 allows you to automatically unlock your car with NFC on your phone when you forget the key and you can share this key with up to 5 people.
You can still unlock your car even if your phone is out of battery. Additionally, you can start your engine using your phone, once the phone is placed inside the secure phone box.
THE PERFECT WORKOUT PARTNER
EMUI 9.1 turns your phone into an ultimate workout partner. Use your phone to connect to a treadmill and collect information like calories burned, running speed and length of the workout.
The phone can also use an algorithm to intelligently measure the step vibrations, so you can accomplish your personal fitness goals.
SIMPLY SWITCH
With HUAWEI Phone Clone, you can simply and quickly transfer your contacts, photos, videos and more to your new phone in just a few moments.
Source: Huaweicentral
And other more detailed Improvements like: (i collected those infos from some Mate 20 pro users):
Navigation Gestures are LOT way better now than EMUI 9.0 (more fluid)
Desktop Mode got some Improvements and fixes too
Battery life is better now (the drain issues got fixed)
Thats all i can remember till now
It also says it's released, I wasted time I stalling the beta app, and setting up Huawei Id only to find I need to insert a SIM card in my WiFi only tablet.....

Yes, correct, in order to use the beta app you must insert the sim card, but even doing this you won't be able to get the 9.1 as it is not available yet on M5
So there is no point trying this app if you don't have a 4G device?

I can't even get 9.0 for the US 8" model yet. I'm sure I'll see 9.1 after Android 10 is released.
I'm still running 8.0. Not even a sniff of 9.0 let alone 9.1! Quite disappointed if I'm honest!

I'm still running 8.0. Not even a sniff of 9.0 let alone 9.1! Quite disappointed if I'm honest!

Same here!
Got my tablet last week SHT- AL09 LTE
with version 8, checked for updates and went up version 8 in steps. Then was given 9 and more steps to final 9.01.190
I have the same tablet, and same version of the software.
Very nice tab, i like everything about it except for the battery life which is not too good, and also wish it supported VoLTE.
I was wondering, whether it will receive Android Q :-o
I just checked what is the firmware history of Samsung tablets on sammobile. So after 1st year of release they updated their tablet quarterly, and after 2nd year they stops updating. So it is pretty much almost the same. Except that they are much much more expensive devices. Like new tab s6. Great tablet, but quarter updates after 1st year? No thanks.
Got the EMUI 9.1 update (9.1.0.325) on my M5 8.4 WiFi last Saturday (31 August 2019) here in Romania. It's 3,51 GB in size and I got it through OTA.

Short version: What's the easiest/best way to make sure my (unlocked/Magisk-rooted) 7Pro does NOT upgrade to Android 10?
Long version:
New 1+ owner here after finally giving up on Google's ability to make a phone I like (I have had only Google phones since Nexus One, and just now retiring my Nexus 6) -
Before getting the 7Pro, I got/tried/returned the horrible Pixel 4XL - that I might actually have kept if Google had done a better job on the software - Android 10 and the new Assistant features. (*Shocking to me that out of the box, this brand new factory fresh phone is loaded with GAPPS that lack the features that Google advertises for the phone! Requires many updates, and still doesn't work properly.)
Since I don't want to effectively become a beta-tester for this new stuff, I really want to prevent the 1+ from updating to Android 10 and not quite sure how to make sure:
The phone came with a 9.x version, and did 1 system upgrade to 9.5.13, and it's now telling me another system upgrade is available. But, best I can tell, there is no way to know what build it is going to update to until after it's done?
Android 10 stable branch has been mostly fine. The only bug I've experienced was due to custom kernels and modules. I'd say avoid 10.3 until the wifi brain cpu issue is fixed.

xxxNoLimits can systemlessly debloat OPBackup if you select that as one of the available options. That will prevent auto updates.
Best as I understand, 9.5.3 was the last Pie Rom. Any further updates will be Q.
