If you don't like my hobby, well, I can't help you there. Mate.
Where I CAN help you is with your real problem. See, I also got an used Pixel with rattling vibration. So just go thru all the settings on the phone and anywhere you see it - disable it or turn it off. This means haptic feedback, keyboard settings, ringtone settings etc. You can't disable it all at once, you just gotta go one by one. It's a 3 minute walk, you can do it.

[App] Power Switch - screen off by closing case

Guys, im the developer of Power Switch, an app that switches off your tablet's screen when you shut the case.
The main thread can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277712
Ive had reports of problems with the pad's light sensor, so would appreciate some debugging feedback.
You can use the lite version to test, it has all the features, but just wont save as much juice.
Thanks in advance. Feel free to reply here or in the main thread, i read both regularly!
Great idea. Does it require root?
Also, it would have been awesome if it could wakeup automatically as well, like the iPad smart cover.
No, no need for root.

That is a mechanical function. It is possible on android too, but it would kill the battery as you could never really put your device to sleep.

Who cares about a little battery juice? The cool factor would be awesome. Maybe as a timed option? Like 5 or 10 min. or more "auto wake" feature.
Fortunately, everyone cares.

I don't, and Im sure there are others that would like the option. As a developer who is trying to sell an app you might consider not generalizing your customer, rather say its not a feature I can, or wish to add to this app. Your app does have potential. Thanks for your efforts.
Ill keep that in mind. However, as a developer with some experience i still think everyone cares. Everyone who understands just what would be happening if the teblets screen would be off but it wasnt sleeping.

Good idea.
Please do!
I think the auto wake up function would be great! Maybe you could make it as an option, people who like it can turn it on and who doesnt like it can turn it off.....
Installed it last night. Set the Auto Shutdown to 5:00, left most other defaults on. (Enable Sensors/Use Light Sensor). Plugged into AC. Closed screen and could see screen was shutting down. After 5:00 would be off. In morning (closed screen) fired it up and at full charge.
Quite nice! Anything else I should look at in the app?
I wouldnt mind if you had a good test of the sesitivity defaults...
I couldn't get it to work on my Transformer, it would only work the first time after that I had no luck getting it to register the closed lid, nor my hand covering the sensor..

Nexus 5 - vibration intensity ?

Hi all, never owned a nexus phone previously but just ordered from play N5 - coming from S4.
Just got a quick question... Is the vibration intensity adjustable on the N5 or even LG G2 like it is on my S4?
Thanks in advance

Hmmm... played around with it all night and can't find the Vibration intensity setting anywhere. There is also no settings for displaying battery percentage.
Looks like i may have been a bit spoiled with touch wiz.

Download a custom kernel that support it and install trickster on Google play to control it.
And there's a app call battery widget reborn that will show your a battery percent on the top left. This phone hasn't even been release a week yet.
Lol but no touch wiz did not spoiled you the nexus 5 support will suck you in if you like customizing your android.

For G2, yes the vibration intensity is adjustable. I'm waiting for N5 in the mail, but my N4 wasn't adjustible.
On the Nexus 5 the intensity isnt adjustable. On my Nexus 5 the vibration is really low...

the intensity is adjustable...at least for the haptic feedback when typing
I have a mushy annoying vibration when typing...especially when typing fast.
I did RMA my Phone and the new phone is allready on the way to me (still have the old one)
After i did RMA i found out that the haptic feedback is adjustable....i put it on 1ms for typing....now it is less annoying and feels kinda normal....but not as crisp as it should imho.
I will receive the new one tomorrow and will compare them......who knows how the new phone will be (dust, dead pixels).....if there is anything like that i´ll keep the old one....if i am allowed to...i heard google forces you to keep the new device....anybody knows that for sure?

Yes it is thanks to custom kernels like Franco or Faux.
vibration config on the playstore will sort you out!
It´s adjustable without custom kernel or any app...
just go to settings -->Language & Input
there you will find Google Keyboard and at the right of it there is a symbol (haven´t seen it for the first few days)
Push it and you will find an extra poined called "advanced settings"
There you can change the vibration feedback for typing

Wondering how the new one compared to the first one you bought? My vibration is also quite mushy (not crisp/sharp like my GNex nor the Moto X) and I'm wondering if I have a bad unit or if that is how the vibration was intended to be...

I don't think so, I did it before and I couldn't find anything, just root it. it's really easy.
by the way that APP works great.
Hi guys, is there any way I can increase vibration strength permanently by editing a file instead of using a root app? I tried doing what Vibration Config does by going into /sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator/amp and changing the value from 60 to 95, which works, but on a reboot it keeps changing back. Any idea how to keep it permanent? Thanks

It changes back because the kernel sets everything back to default, which is why kernel apps have a "set on boot" option. It also requires root access to be able to modify such values.
You can:
- compile a kernel yourself and change the default
- use a kernel app to set on boot
- use tasker to change the value on boot
- change it manually every time
An init.d file can do the job also.

Yeah forgot about that halfway through writing the post, but you also need support for init.d in kernel ramdisk.

OK Google.. with screen off.. A good feature that's Working :)

Honestly, I never thought ok google would work with screen off for non pixel devices... But it works for OP6.. Just tried it..
This helps in unlocking the phone will driving and directly making calls..

Hahaha.. Probable solution would be to use a pair of earphones with mic and whisper.. Okay google..
Thanks ! I never used Google Assistant, but I may try if it is so easy...provided the permanent listening does not eat battery ! By the way, any changes in battery drain when using this feature ?

It's strange for me that this is news because I've been using custom romsnfor so long that had this implementated. It's a good feature
I think the idle drain will be about the higher than without it (this is what I have noticed) but it's not massive so definitely a recent trade off if you like the service. I have a few Google homes and they all pick up my voice but then it knows from which device to reply from based on what's nearest to you.
I've used this mainly for turning on Bluetooth and setting navigation whilst driving. Also asking questions whilst driving that I want the answer to.

Ringtone and Notification volume separate sliders?

Why no Notification volume slider is present in sound settings, is there any other work around to get those separately?
Is there a way to have 4 options like all other phones have, ringtone, notification, media, call or alarm etc
Did you go to Settings -> Sound -> Volume? All sliders show up for me ... SM-N9500 unrooted on latest software update.

Right. It's ridiculous because notifications come through and their "gaming mode" doesn't stop them either. Their OS is total crap, it's like stepping back in time.
Is anyone found a solution for this? Is there any solution with root? I'll root just for this!

That app doesnt work either, when lowering notification or ringtone loudness, it drags down the other one with it.
OP has the ringtone and notification combined, no app without rooting your phone is going to change that.
There are complaints to OP on their own forum going back years of people asking them to separate them, to no avail.
I've personally sent them emails about this issue and some other coding issues they have. In regards to this issue I wasn't nice about after I got a ridiculous response from them. I'm just not understanding how a million dollar company can't fix simple coding problems and can't/won't update their OS to bring it even into 2016.
I like the phone overall, but I think this will be my first and last OP.

Sort of feels like it's doze kicking in and the AOD framework needs to be excluded by it

How do you go about submitting bug reports? I don't see a way of doing so within the settings app etc.
Wouldn't mind sending a few over [emoji4] the only other issues I really have are issues accessing secondary characters from the keyboard when trying to access them from characters which are on the curved part of the phone (guessing it's palm rejection being a bit too sensitive), and the proximity sensor is a bit iffy during calls.

To submit a bug report you need to go here.... https://community.coloros.com/forum.php and create an account. Then go to the "Feedback" tab and you can submit a bug report or suggestion there. They'll probably want a log capture from the phone too. You can access the diagnostic menu by dialing *#800# then "Ok" then select "User". Detailed instructions here.... https://community.coloros.com/thread-42556-1-1.html
Steps to capture a valid Log file.
Step 1:Dial“ *#800#” in the dialer and press “OK”in the popup Warning and press “User”in the popup.
Step2:Select the type of Log.“Default” is for commonbug and others are for the corresponding bug.
Step3:Turn on “Screen Recording” and press “OK” in the popup warning. Click“Start Logging”and reproduce the issue, click “StopLogging” when finish capturing and fill in the details of the issue.
Step 4 : Upload the log file toColorOS Community(less than 50 MB file),or to Google Drive (more than 50 MB file), and share the link when you post the feedback. (Log file is in the following path: File Manager > PhoneStorage > oppo_log > newly debugfolder)

Interesting. ? Perhaps I'll check that out. I haven't enabled developer options on the phone yet, but wouldn't have thought you'd have to disable something that shouldn't be enabled by default. Not having the phone screen turn off when it times out while charging is a real issue that could lead to burn-in IMO. Your average user wouldn't necessarily know about "Developer Options".
Edit... Enabled developer options and it's not enabled so I must have a bug on my device. ?
