Paranoid Android Issues - Oneplus One BACON (7.3.1) - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to use Paranoid Android but face following issues. Pls let me know if you ppl have some suggestions...
1. Phone suddenly drops to 0% and becomes dead
2. Phone heats up (really hot) while put on charge..
So I had to go back to Lineage where my device is quite stable. But I personally liked Paranoid. Pls reply back if you have some suggestions
Facing the same issue with all versions of Paranoid Android

AOSPA is kinda unstable for Bacon atm 'cause there is no proper maintainer and all the builds are blind builds without testing.I hope somebody picks up the maintainer spot for Bacon soon.

Awesome! Looking forward to trying it. Can you post what fixes? I understand there is a kernel issue on the G3 and wonder if that has been fixed yet?
Cheers and thanks!

Could someone retitle this thread so people know what it is?
I've already tried it. It has the same kernel panic issues as CM.
So is this rom stable enough to be a DD? I read about the kernel crash issue, should i wait? Ive really been wanting an aosp rom for my D850

I'm told the kernel panic happens every time the phone goes to sleep mode. I'd say that alone means it's not daily driver ready.
I agree with you on the DD comment, but I've been longing for this for far too long! LOL One thing to note is after I installed CM last night, I set the alarm on it, and went to bed. The alarm went off fine this morning - so I think it must be something else, or related to deep sleep and another trigger at the same time.
I've installed this PA already, and did indeed have a panic right after I restored apps with Titanium. I'd also already set the force GPU setting as someone else had suggested in another thread - so that didn't help either. Of note, PA does rotate when you turn the phone sideways....CM didn't have that enabled on the 850 as of last night.

When the kernel crashes does the phone quit working or does it just reboot and fix itself? My phone is so laggy that its almost unusable, id put up with a reboot every now and then for a smoother phone, my 3 year old windows phone is smoother than this, also is this rom or CM11 better
Edit: also does data work good? My phone only gets data half the time
does lte work

You have to press the volume down button to tell it to reboot, and in my experience it has a kernel crash every time the phone enters deep sleep if it isn't on charge.
Ive been running this build since about 10 last night and have only had one kernel panic, around 930 this morning. Rebooted and haven't had another issue. Running really smooth and damn did I miss themes.

Can't attest to data yet because the data is normally good here anyway. Will have to test on the way home and see about connection / LTE. That noted, unfortunately the kernel crash sits at a black screen and you have to press volume down to reboot it. It's been sitting at my desk since shortly after this thread began though, and I only saw the one crash immediately after install / reinstall of apps. Doubt it's fixed but it seems pretty good so far. Screen rotation alone makes it better than CM for the time being, just because I use it for Waze in the jeepers and it mounts sideways. LOL

I reflashed it this morning and haven't had a single issue with kernel
I've been running CM since last night and the only time I had a kernel panic was when I switched to ART... No panic using dalvic
Kernel Crash
I am definitely still getting Kernel Crash. Every time in sleep mode. Can we get a fix. Love this rom. So fast!!
Yeah, I actually have. Obviously when the screen is on it tears through battery, but I think it went down 3 percent while I was sleeping, and sometime it doesn't go down at all between me setting it down and picking it back up.
Seems like the kernel issue is across a few ROMs
I've seen in on the CM11 port and this. Any others?

[ROM][OVATION/HUMMINGBIRD][EMMC][UNOFFICIAL] Temasek's CM-11.0/KitKat v162.1

[update] Uploaded new builds which fix the FC when going into TRDS settings.
Download link for ovation: cm-11-20141211-UNOFFICIAL-ovation.zip - 212.30 MB
Download link for hummingbird: cm-11-20141211-UNOFFICIAL-hummingbird.zip - 213.56 MB
Credits and most of source: Temasek's github
Device trees, kernel and vendor files from CyanogenMod, available here: My github
For those who are not familiar with Temasek's work, this is a fork off CyanogenMod with a lot of additional features added, including floating windows, Dynamic Status Bar, etc. Temasek has now moved on to CM-12.0 work, so you can look at this build as the "final" version.
I'm not aware of any bugs (other than encryption being disabled), but please let me know if you find any and I'll try to address them. Also let me know if someone needs (and is able to test) a hummingbird build.
Lastly, I'm planning on trying Temasek's CM-12.0 preview builds next, so if anyone is interested in working on these with me, please PM me or drop a line here.
Running well here. Cm updater is notifying me of newer nightlies. Is this of this build or standard cm11?

Not standard. If you update through CM, you will lose Temasek's customizations.

I would be up for trying the CM12 previews as well. Willing to bugcheck and send logcats.
Edit
This is running very nice so far, lovely and smooth and battery life seems very good. Overally really pleased with this tweaked version of CM11
Temasek is doing incredible work with CM12 on Galaxy Note 3. I've been using an older Carbon Rom but might give this a try.

I am also on an older Carbon ROM. Do you have the issue of battery drain when not used? And very hard to turn the Nook HD+ back on after that? Sometimes I have to hold the power and N buttons for 2 minutes to get it started. And it ALWAYS drains.
I am wondering if installing this ROM is as simple as putting it on an SD card and flashing it and being able to remove the SD card after.

I'm using Carbon 4.3.1. No battery drain problem. I think when the battery is depleted most tablets are slow to wake when plugged backed in because the power is being used to recharge the battery to a safe, minimal state.

I've seen that battery drain on multiple ROMs. It shouldn't happen though, so if this is a constant issue for you, I would suggest you run something like BetterBatteryStats to see what is keeping the device awake.
On a different note, I've uploaded an updated build to fix the FC issue with TRDS (reported by @CweeperHugz), as well as a build for hummingbird/HD (kindly tested by @CweeperHugz, so lots of thanks to him).
I think it'll be new year before we can have CM12 builds for testing. I'm working on it nowadays, but my personal life does not give me much spare time for this. In the meanwhile, those that are using my builds, if you experience any clear bugs (Settings or SystemUI FC-ing etc.), please let me know how to reproduce the bug or send me a logcat and I will try to fix it -- as far as I'm aware, there should not be any outstanding bugs with the current builds but feel free to prove me wrong.

Thank you so much for your help! I will do that.
Also, I just installed GOLDEN EYE ROM on my Samsung S4, is there a way to port that over to the NOOK? The ROM is super light and uses almost no battery! in 18 hours my battery is still 74% (mind you my S4 only lasted 5 hours max and it was at 7% already by 2pm at work. Also my S4 is now twice as fast as my stupid S5 on stock rom.

I think the ROM you mentioned is a TouchWiz ROM, right? In that case it's not possible, sorry -- I need the full source code to do unofficial builds.
Yes it's a touchwiz rom. Wouldn't that be available since android is open source?

That part of Android is under the Apache License, which means Samsung does not need to provide the source code.
I would suggest to compile RastaKat, if possible:
https://github.com/rascarlo
It is a clean and fast rom based on AOSP with other commits that adds useful features.
Performance at pure state.
Can someone please point me to a thing that isn't mega? I don't exactly trust them.

Cyanogenmod 13 for ATT D850 UNOFFICIAL

I am building this for my general use and thought it would be nice to share. Just to be clear I am not developing anything just making the builds. I dirty flashed over CM12.1 and flashed the latest GAPPS with no problems. Please do not report problems as this is a nightly build and unofficial.
Official builds are out and can be found here...

It's broke on my end. It can get a position lock but does not seem to track for driving directions. Another bug I discovered was trying to take a picture in a text message and the camera only showing 1 to 2 frames per second, but the regular camera works fine so I assume it has something to do with the text message app. I still use it as a daily driver don't use the driving directions often. I will keep posting the builds as I make them and let you know when that bug is fixed.
[Thanks! Will definitely follow this until CM puts out an official build. Couple other guys that were building unofficial seem to have stopped for the time.

Ah, yes it appears to get a lock for me as well, but then won't navigate. I've tried messing with gps.conf in several different manners but no luck.
I'm about to abandon the G3 because there is no official CM support. This is where Cyanogenmod is getting bad press - they claim to offer an alternative OS with the latest updates, but some phones are just left in the dust because no one wants to be the maintainer. Best Buy has started selling the 6P - may head over and pick this up!
Please post a link to the kernel source of the kernel included in your build as per GPLv2 and XDA requirements.

Still using this everyday but, as I'm sure you noticed, charging has been majorly borked since 12/23. Hope you keep this up and I'll be watching CM changelogs for a fix. GPS would be nice too!

Yeah I am hoping the problems are not D850 specific or we will never see a fix. I will keep posting builds semi nightly until CyanogenMod starts posting an official build or until I get a new phone in August. I really think this is still a good phone and wonder why the community went to hell on this one.
Have a Happy New Year everyone.
I've been using CM13 for almost a month and its been great. However I only just got an SD card for Christmas. Now, I'm assuming moving apps to the SD card has changed since it let's you format as internal storage now. However that doesn't work for me. Does anyone know how to move apps to the SD card without formatting it as internal storage?
How did you build this? I've managed to build CM13 for the D850 too, but the result was the phone freezing at the LG bootup logo. Your build seems to work perfectly fine.

Ummm well I don't know what you did wrong, but here are the resources I used...
Dependencies for the build were grabbed from this site
https://source.android.com/source/initializing.html
Then I made a local manifest to include proprietary drivers from https://github.com/TheMuppets along with the branch for the D850 out of cyanogenmod github. Hope that gives you some clues on what went wrong.

Strange. That's exactly what I did too.
I'll give it another shot and see what's going on. I'd like to take a crack at fixing some of the bugs.
Looks like tonight's build will fix the power charging issues. Yay!
Just posted the the 12/29 build and GPS is fixed we can now find our nearest Hardee's with ease. Thanks @invisiblek
is anyone else experiencing data loss constantly? I have to disable/re-enable data to get it to connect, otherwise I get (!) instead of (LTE). I haven't seen anyone else complain about this and yet it still hasn't been fixed on the 12/31/15 build. D850 stock CM kernel on T-Mobile, only one APN on my list. it happens on any CM13-based ROM.
also this new kernel makes my phone near flawless. it feels much more like a nexus. however it is still shutting down the phone when it overheats, hence when you first install the rom and it creates the cache, it will power off once the setup starts.

Hi, I missed why oreo or pie is not good for the guy you replied to?
I am installing 8.1 on my Nexus 5 as I type this. I have been out of scene for 2 years though so i am behind.
Thnx
I'm on los14.1 (latest nightly) and have been having issues with Bluetooth in general.
It was fine up to a few months ago, then I hopped over to DirtyUnicorns.
On DU, I was getting "Bluetooth has stopped" quite often, so I switched back to LOS14.1.
I'm still having issues, but not as bad.
I have a miband, mainly for notifications, but this loses connection and I stop getting my notifications.
Sometimes, the phone won't sleep, and betterybetterystats reports Bluetooth (under Kernal) as being the culprit.
Usually turning BT off and on sorts it for a while, other times it needs a reboot.
I'm starting to thing it's a hardware issue with the phone, (tried it with 3 different mibands, and 2 phones) is there anyway to test?

Quoting myself but, anyway....
Installed the latest factory image yesterday (2 years old!) and Bluetooth has been rock solid.
I wonder if the gapps version make any difference to BT (nano/pico/stock)?
If I recall correctly any ROM before Oreo Bluetooth will work correctly so find any nougat marshmallow ROM u like and run it

Yeah I have come across some bugs.. but I do not use BT calling or use Whatsapp and yeah the battery goes pretty quick but I need a new battery though. Mine is over 2 years old. I just ordered a new batter for my Nexus 5. I am going to try and stretch it out another year. I would like to get a Pixel XL but man they are too expensive... still!
I like Resurrection Remix Oreo (Android 8.1). The performance is pretty good. Faster than Kitkat 4.4.4 was. Hehehe

Want to re install Lineage Os 14.1 due to issues, need a bit of help.

Hey guys, I recently updated my shield tablet from the latest lineage os 14.1 to 15.1 and did not know about the hardware decoder issues with video playback so i quickly regretted that. Before that my tablet was awesome, 6h SOT performance was great etc. So I went to lineage and poof no longer do they give out 14.1 builds. Also dumbass me deleted the ones I had downloaded. Now luckily I found a person who had made a huge backlog of older builds of 14.1 buuut they are from January and February and tbh are quite buggy (at least for me, maybe I flashed them wrong?!). The settings app keeps crashing and i can only open it by long pressing something on the notification area. Battery is max 3h SOT which is wierd but thats how it is. So a crapshoot all in all.
So I wanted to ask if anyone still has later builds on their device or anywhere else because unless I find them I might as well have a dust collecting buggy "brick". Or any advice on what services I could disable, apps that could help, or either other custom roms. I frankly dont play that much on my tablet anymore and use it for youtube mostly so a battery focused rom would be awesome.
Thanks in advance !
