Hi, I missed why oreo or pie is not good for the guy you replied to?
I am installing 8.1 on my Nexus 5 as I type this. I have been out of scene for 2 years though so i am behind.
Thnx

I'm on los14.1 (latest nightly) and have been having issues with Bluetooth in general.
It was fine up to a few months ago, then I hopped over to DirtyUnicorns.
On DU, I was getting "Bluetooth has stopped" quite often, so I switched back to LOS14.1.
I'm still having issues, but not as bad.
I have a miband, mainly for notifications, but this loses connection and I stop getting my notifications.
Sometimes, the phone won't sleep, and betterybetterystats reports Bluetooth (under Kernal) as being the culprit.
Usually turning BT off and on sorts it for a while, other times it needs a reboot.
I'm starting to thing it's a hardware issue with the phone, (tried it with 3 different mibands, and 2 phones) is there anyway to test?

Because oreo and pie are not that good for daily use, performance not good as nougat, battery life, BT call bug still not fixed, cant send photos or videos through whatsapp etc

Quoting myself but, anyway....
Installed the latest factory image yesterday (2 years old!) and Bluetooth has been rock solid.
I wonder if the gapps version make any difference to BT (nano/pico/stock)?

If I recall correctly any ROM before Oreo Bluetooth will work correctly so find any nougat marshmallow ROM u like and run it

Ah..

Yeah I have come across some bugs.. but I do not use BT calling or use Whatsapp and yeah the battery goes pretty quick but I need a new battery though. Mine is over 2 years old. I just ordered a new batter for my Nexus 5. I am going to try and stretch it out another year. I would like to get a Pixel XL but man they are too expensive... still!
I like Resurrection Remix Oreo (Android 8.1). The performance is pretty good. Faster than Kitkat 4.4.4 was. Hehehe

NOOOO, I want it now!!! (Been hangin around my kids too long...)
That said, Is there a stable 6.0.1 ATT G3 ROM out there? STABLE being the key word.
I really want to be running MM, I have heard great things about it's smoothness and DOZE feature to extend battery life.
If there is a stable ROM, I'll root and install.

Nothing STABLE yet. That said, I've been running CM13 for over a month and I love it. Builds are unofficial but the latest builds in the dev forum are really fast, stable and have GPS working (for the first time ever for me, even with KK and LL). I run it with the 777 kernel and it's perfect for me.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw also (in subsequent posts) that the RR MM 6.0 ROM is also stable. I have never run CM before, so can anyone enlighten me so I don't have to drop 8 hours testing out both ROMs.... my questions are:
1) Which has a better camera experience? CM or RR? Stable, no FC.
2) which is more stable with less problems (ie, GPS, BT, no SD card, no 4G data, etc...)
3) which has better battery life?
4) Do either support device encryption? That was one of the major improvements in MM that no one seems to be talking about.
Thanks alot for the replies, and thanks to the developers for creating these, you guys and gals are awesome!

Do I have to use an aftermarket camera app like I did on SlimROMs? I used Open Camera. While it worked, it was sssslllloooowwww and sometimes caused the camera to crash, at which point I would have to pull the battery for it to work again (really annoying when you are trying to get Kindergarten graduation pics of your son...). I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and those problems went away though. Android is so weird...
For this reason, I will never ever to get inside a google autonomous car. I'm gonna be the last old timer left, and everyone will ridicule me. "In my day, WE drove! And we liked it! We loved it!"
No aftermarket app will change the fact that you will be missing the LG firmware.
Personally I love the way LG has the camera setup where I can just tap the screen it focuses then snaps it. No LG camera on 3rd party rom so I went back to stock. If your phone is as important to you as you claim given all the questions you asked it would be worth your while to wait for the official update as I will. Let the rest test and be dissatisfied with the problems and lack of features. Note that I haven't had a crash or freeze since I got away from cm12

Point taken, but I don't think I'll get the official OTA MM anyway because I am not on ATT, but on Cricket. Or would I just download from XDA and flash it myself?
Did you still root and debloat the stock ROM? Or just leave it completely stock?

After trying many a many roms here for both d851 and d850 (My son and mine), I would definitely stick with stock if you take pics. The d851 is actually in better shape (mm wise) as it has a supported CM13, but the camera is poor. As for cricket- my understanding is that some phones get att updates, and some don't. If an update doesn't happen after you know mm has been released, you can wait a week or two and it very well may be posted here to flash- or you can pick up a att go phone sim for a couple of bucks and flash, then drop the cricket sim back in.
And yes you can root & debloat, but I haven't seen a prepackaged 20g (that has the stagefright patch) debloated yet. I just use super uninstaller app from the play store, which requires root.
here I am just stock with root & recovery (if needed) haven't found a need to use either yet but I like having the option available.
I have all the stock crummy at&t apps disabled because actually "removing" them requires quite a bit of time that I haven't yet found.
If I install cm13 or RR do I lose the LG IR remote?
I don't think there is a custom IR remote apk for MM yet like there is for lollipop.

I stick to stock based ROMs because of the camera problems on AOSP ROMs. I don't use my camera often, but when I do I want it to work well. I will wait for 6 to be released.

What is a good stock ROM you would recommend?

Did anyone just stick with the stock Cyanogen OS?

I realise this is probably a bit of a controversial question to ask on XDA, however has anyone else just stuck with the stock Cyanogen OS on their OnePlus One?
I was thinking today when reading about Lineage OS I have pretty much kept my OnePlus One stock since i got it in July 2014, out the box Cyanogen OS had everything i'd otherwise flash a custom rom for. I did try some early Marshmallow roms around February last year, however due to various bugs I went back to stock and waited for the Marshmallow OTA.
These days i'd certainly take stability over having the latest and greatest version of Android. Of course I don't intend that as any disrespect to the developers on here, more than anything I think I just got tired of tinkering with my phone and have enjoyed just using it.
However I do plan on flashing Lineage OS in the future, which seems quite strange after not flashing a custom rom for almost a year.
It's great to see XDA is still going strong, even more so that the OnePlus currently has the most users of unofficial installs of Lineage OS :good:
My father does have the official builds hahahah we both have the opo but he's okay if it works, so keeping it simple is the best way for him.
As far as Cyanogen OS goes
It's bad and bloated
I tried to stay on it, and did for a bit when security updates were being applied
But had a bunch of reboots and overheating issues. Had to dump it.
Was on stock COS till today since i couldnt find a rom that suited my needs and passed safetynet. Today i flashed lineage OS official, everything is smooth and it passes safety net (i can now use my banking app while running nougat). So yeah today is the day i left COS and marshmallow
I don't even know why I'm still on official CyanOS. The screen time is dreadful. I think I'll give LOS a chance in the near future. It can't be any worse than 3-4 hours of screen time, what I'm getting now with official COS.
Cyanogen may be sold in the future and they can push harmful updates to your device, so I'd say updating is a very good choice.
I am keeping it. I would love that someone could recommend me a 6.0 rom alternative though, because can't switch to Nougat. MM has xposed and i need youtube background playback.
I do sometimes think maybe I should have stayed stock but then I think of all the fun I've had
Now I need my phone to work for calls and alarms as a minimum so take less risks now
I'm still on marsh 2.0 from way back last august
i would but cyanogen 13.1 has a problem with the mobile network.........

You can try Lucky Patcher. They have a custom patch for YouTube background playback. Works on Nougat. Hope this helps
For anyone who wants the best stable experience, I'd suggest sultanxda's CM13 ROM. May it be for girlfriends, dad's, whoever. That ROM will never fall behind.
Cheers.
Well I am still sticking with rooted cyanogen os. I have color camera, viper4android, Sony Media Apps like Walkman and xposed.
Can anyone enlighten me whether noughat build supports viper4android and a good camera mod like color os or cameranext mod? If so I don't mind installing it immediately..
I'm still on stock ROM, because I'm using NFC payments on the tube. Battery life with screen on is dreadful. I would upgrade in a heartbeat should there be any ROM that's signed by Google. Is there any hope to get that ?
My story sounds a lot like the OP. I got my OPO as soon as the invites started going out (I had signed up long before release) and I just couldn't wait to get it and start rooting and TWRPing and ROMing. I tried just about every ROM that was out there including OOS. But, as is often the case with enthusiast ROMS, there always seemed to be some little something somewhere that didn't quite work right. I also had terrible problems with the radios on almost all ROMs including the stock ROM. That got corrected during the second or third update though.
I have a lot of smartphones, so eventually, I moved onto other phones and other tinkering. Then one day, not too long ago, I wondered what it would be like to restore my OPO back to factory stock - no root; reset the tamper bit - and update to the latest official update - so I did.
I have to say that the OPO has never been as stable and reliable as it is in that condition. Best radio reception since I got the phone, silky smooth Android experience (even on two year old hardware), and rarely any crashes or FCs. Truly a STABLE phone.
But even as good as it is running now, I still worry about not getting any future updates and in particular security patches, so I will be looking to flash a good stable build of Lineage OS after reading up on other users' experiences.
Still have to say though that through all of my phones (Galaxy's, Lumias, iPhones, and everything in between), I'd still put my OPO up there with my trusted iPhone 6S for reliability and the "It Just Works" factor.
Hi! I'm running COS, the latest update i received via OTA. I'll wait for a stable build for Nougat, also, there are some xposed modules I cannot live without so i guess i wait for a little bit.

There's an unofficial Lineage OS 13 for our bacon, here in XDA. Stable no issues and xposed compatible

is general gsi roms good enough

is general gsi roms good enough for our device or is it better to wait for specific rom that is well modified for our device??? In other words is there any general gsi rom that is good enough and has major hardware parts working (camera, wifi, hotspot, brightness, bluetooth... Etc) ???
Thanks
Has anyone tried Havoc OS ROM ?
Generally speaking they're good enough to use assuming you can get them installed on you phone. I was using Phh's unofficial Ressurection Remix Rom for a while, and the biggest issue I had was the fingerprint sensor acting as a mouse button when the screen was on. Otherwise everything was very smooth and worked like what I expected them too. Battery life might have been a bit worse than it was on MIUI. I've had similar results on all of Phh's ROMs, although I haven't really tried images from too many other developers.
Installing them can be a struggle. It seems like half of the time I try to flash one I need to wipe everything on the phone to get it to work, but other times I can flash them with no issues. That's not specific to GSI images though. I've probably wiped my phone (system and storage contents) half a dozen times because I accidentally soft bricked my phone trying to flash something. That's probably more user error more than anything else.
I have also never been able to get gapps to flash on a GSI ROM. I've always had to use ones with them built in.
I ended up going back to MIUI because the GCam mod wasn't working properly, and a large reason for buying the phone was for the camera. I'll probably go back to Treble images once the major ROMs start releasing Pie variants, assuming we don't get some native ROMs first.

I flashed a lot of them. Most have bugs as you can imagine e but that's not the rom's or devs fault.
I had installed
Official Resurrection ReMix
Phh treble AOSP
Pixel Experience version 8.1 and 9
Polaris Pixel experience
Google extended
All with similar bugs/features. The 8.1 versions work pretty well, the pie versions have all the same bugs. But they are daily driver material in my opinion if you can do without some functions. Some of them have enough no working camera, others have trouble with NFC and bluetooth.
Others have distorted sounds (which can be easily fixed).
Just browse the treble development thread and find out what fits best for you.
I'm using pixel experience official 8.1 and 9 unofficial (on two separate MiMix2S) and so far it works for me.
I think the best by now is the official 8.1 PE rom. Most of the things I'm using do work really well. Now I'm eagerly waiting for the Polaris Pixel Experience Pie rom...hope it will arrive soon.
I think we own a not very popular device so devs are rare but there are some of them doing a great job and working on those issues. Maybe some could donate some bucks like I did to keep them motivated and show some appreciation for their hard work.
I've had the best experience with the Benzo 9.0 ROM.
How is the camera on GSI roms? One of the reasons I updated from the mix 2 to the mix 2s was for the camera.
Is it comparable to MIUI?, or total ****?
I am using the AOSP 9.0 rom by @phhusson: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases
Apart from the camera, I'm not aware of any known issues. Bluetooth, NFC, Sound and Calling issues have all been resolved (thank you very much @phhusson). I guess there are other issues I did not hit yet
The camera app I use is from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...ed-p-mix2s-t3838406/post77529938#post77529938
Its possible to take good pictures (without color issues) but some feature like HDR, portrait don't work.
As a base for this rom, I use the most current global beta from here:

If it's the aosp ROM by phhusson it's stock Android and works smooth but lacks some features IMHO. Nothing fancy but a great leap forward in treble development. Great guy developing good and stable roms.

Xiaomi.EU compatibility in the United States

Is anyone using any version of Xiaomi.eu in the U.S.? I am on global stable 10.3.2.0 and want to try out Xiaomi.eu to try Android 10 and (hopefully) have working bluetooth codec support, but I'm a little nervous of trying out what is technically a China based ROM in the US when the global version works well. Does anyone have any experience with this? What version are you using?
Yes, it works very well, better than the AOSP roms. The Android 10 (weekly) rom has only one bug that I can find, when you boot (or reboot) the phone the microphone on calls doesn't work until you toggle between the speaker & earpiece and back. Once you've done that once it works fine until the next reboot.

Yes, remove any security before starting, that way you should be able to avoid formatting /data/media if you run into difficulties. If you're on the Xiaomi stock rom though, you may have to format anyway. I did a Mi Mix 2S last week and it wouldn't boot until I formatted, which I assume means that stock must use a different FS. I also have problems restoring apps from Titanium, some won't restore for no apparent reason. I use Nova Launcher though, which makes it easy to restore them from the Play Store.

Yeah, it's about the best Android experience I've had. I thought the AOSP roms were good on this hardware, but this is even better. It's the reason I bought a Mix 2S for my gf for xmas, since it's essentially a Mix 3 without the slider and an LCD screen (alas!). Makes technical support so much easier if she's running the same software.....

Oh yeah I'm sure it is. I've been trying to decide what to update with recently because my bluetooth audio codecs weren't working and I'm sick of being stuck on SBC. I looked around at Evolution X, Resurrection Remix, and LineageOS but all them have some weird issues. I also have grown to really love MIUI. It gets a lot of hate but there are a lot of things I would miss if I switched to AOSP so I'm really happy MIUI 11 via Xiaomi.eu runs so well.

Yeah I can see the different option in the Developer Options but when you select one it either doesn't change anything (when the headphones don't support it) or breaks the audio (happened when trying AAC which I know my headphones support, so something was wrong there). I have no way of testing anything other than SBC and AAC, but after flashing Xiaomi.eu MIUI 11.1 AAC is now working at least. So there was just some issue with MIUI 10.3.2.0 global stable

* Echo Fixed
* VoLTE Fixed (thanks to tlmlbreakdown)
* February Security Patch
y is this thread so, idk ...quiet.
This is the best ROM I've used on the LeEco Le2 (X520).
Everything works. Most important NO ECHO on the calls!!!! Fast charge works and battery consumption is the best EVER! Better than the original ROM.
Thank you!!! For real! This was a live saver!

Have for 4/5 days. Camera crashed once. But, to be honest, there is a app to restart the camera that... just worked.
I've tried at least 7 ROM's. No other gets near this one in my opinion.
Flashed Pico Gapps for Android 10 and then build it from there to match my needs.
Granted I tried several ROM's in the last 8 months, some may already taken care of some problems, but to my knowledge other ROM never took care of the echo problem in the calls, camera crashed much more often and no app worked to restart it, this one works as I already said, face unlock works like a charm, some of the ones I tested didn't even got it, battery consumption is better than original ROM (again, to be honest, after ROM flashing battery drained a bit fast, but made a reboot, since then, just a breeze).
To me is THE perfect ROM to this phone.
Again a big, enormous, thank you to the developer(s) that made this available.
And one more thing, all this just works!!! You do not have to patch anything, add anything, just flash the ROM. Simple as that.
Ho! And it REALLY IS light weight. No bull**** in that sentence!
Superb, tomorrow I'll test it

Well, all those fixes come from tlmlbreakdown who maintains LineageOS.
You'd get the same fixes by installing LineageOS 17.1.

Wow, really? I need to try this then, I'm sick of all the half-baked ROMs on here.
A few questions if you're willing to answer them: Which model do you have? How fast does GPS lock? What's your SOT? How is the camera quality? Does dual SIM work without issues?
I am facing issue with incoming calls sound not playing on phone when bluetooth is connected. I get beeps in my bluetooth headset but there is no sound coming from phone. I have checked and all settings look ok. Any solution for this?

That's a feature, not a bug. Really, every Android behaves like this. If you have a BT headset connected, ringing your phone too is pointless.

Any way to disable this? I keep my bluetooth connected and miss the incoming calls.
